Subject decoding problem with dash '-'

When trying to decode a raw email with the following subject with MimeUtility the charactersequence =96 is not decoded correctly.
When printed to the console a strange square box is drawn. When the same string is persisted to our database, the box ends up as a ? (questionmark) in the textfield.

Most likely the encoding is actually WIN1252 (or CP1252), where 0x96 is a broader version of a dash. • Problem with '-' (dash) in BEx web analyzer

    Hi All,
    we are having a strange problem with 0BPartner and 0Material. Our BPartner and Material have '-'(dash) sign as part of key. While selecting this BPartner/Material in Bex Analyzer, we do not have any problem, but when we try to select the same Bpartner/Material in BEx Web Analyzer, it puts an escape char in from of the dash. For eg:
    If i select the Bpartner "1234-5467" then in Web Analyzer selection box, it is displayed as  "1234\-5467" in the selection screen.
    If i do a search on 1234-5467, it returns zero value.But if i do a search on 1234\-5467, then i get the search hit.
    If i enter the Bpartner in the selection window directly and If i do not put the escape char, then it considers the input as range 1234 - 5467 and returns me no value in the report output.
    Has anyone had this type of issue? Please respond.
    Thanks

    Thanks Olivier,
    Sorry if you had misunderstood my question. They are 2 different Info objects. and i am having problem searching values in each one of these info objects.
    Let me explain it with an example.
    Scenario:
    Let say company defines material in the following format.
    "123", "456", "788", "345"....etc.
    And I have a report which has material as input selection.
    To run this report with single material i enter "123" in the selection screen
    To run this report with a range of materials, I need to enter 123 - 456 in the selection.
    I have no Issues
    Scenario 2.
    Consider a case if the materials are defined in SAP as "001-1234", "987-234"
    "123-234" etc.
    In this scenario, to run the same report for 1 material, i will enter 001-1234. But now the question is how will BW system interpret this material entry.
    Is this 1 single material(001-1234) or a material range (001 - 1234)??
    We have issue here. The system considers this material "001-1234" as a range (001 to 1234) instead of single material and gives me zero output.
    Any help??

  • Problem with dashed line spacing when printing to pdf

    Hi all,
    this may be a problem with my pdf program (I use bluebeam), but maybe someone will have an idea how to fix it whether in indesign or bluebeam.
    so I made a dashed line using the stroke command in indesign. I need to have the spacing set to 3pt dash and 2pt space. I also need to keep the lineweight to 0.5...this all works fine and appears correctly in indesign when I preview
    the problem is that some of the dashed lines, but not all of them, change size and spacing in the pdf when I view it. it seems to change when I zoom in and out as well. I thought maybe this was just some odd feature with bluebeam and it would still print to the correct size, but it does not, it prints the lines as different sizes. does anyone have an idea why this happens and how to fix? ive viewed and printed from adobe reader and it seems to be okay there but this file will be accessed by multiple other people and they may not be opening and printing in adobe reader..
    thanks guys

    When you export a PDF you will notice that you are exporting to Adobe PDF. Using any reader beyond Acrobat Pro or Reader is a crapshoot.
    For issues with Bluebeam I suggest you contact the developer.

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 running on OS 10.6

    I recently upgrade my old G4 Mac (OS 10.4) to a new Mac Mini running OS 10.6.6. I am still running CS3 and have encountered only one problem. When I print multiple copies documents from InDesign that contain several layers, each copy is processed separately, so that it can take several minutes just to send the print job to the printer if I'm printing over 20 copies. Then once the print job is processed the printer pauses between every copy, which is tripling the printing time. If I print a simpler document with only one or two layers it processes all the copies at once, as it should. I am printing on an Okidata 6150 color laser printer.
    I never had this problem on my old computer. I'm wondering if this is one of the "unsupported" bugs of running CS3 on Snow Leopard. I want to make sure that this is a problem unique to running CS3 with Snow Leopard before I go ahead and upgrade to CS4 or CS5.
    computer: Mac Mini core 2 duo 2.4 ghz processors, 4 gb RAM, printer: Okidata 6150 DN color laser printer.

    Hi again Peter
    It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
    I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

    I neglected to ask what version of indesign CS3 you are using. I also
    notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
    addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
    launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,
    nonetheless.

  • Re: Fwd: Link Problems With Borland C++ 4.52

    I have seen this problem before in another context, and I'll offer the
    cause and solution in the hope that they will apply to the Crystal problem.
    Many Windows based applications rely on PASCAL calling conventions, which
    change the way parameters are handled in function/method calls. They
    indicate this by placing one of the following immediately before the
    function name in the prototype declarations:
    - pascal_far (or something like that)
    - WINAPI
    - some other typedef of either of the above
    For example:
    int WINAPI AddTotal(int valueA, int valueB);
    Unfortunately, v2.0 of Forte does not provide any mechanisms for changing
    the calling conventions of the prototypes in the generated C++ wrapper
    library, so when you compile that code, the linker fails. I think that the
    compiler may generate different symbols depending on calling conventions,
    so that's why it fails.
    To fix this, don't autocompile your code, but generate the distribution, go
    into the generated C++ files and look for the function prototypes (I think
    you can search for FORTE_NO_PROTOTYPES), add WINAPI to the appropriate
    places in the prototype definitions (see above) and use fcompile to build
    the library. Instructions for fcompile are in the Interfacing With
    External Systems manual.
    Hope this helps,

    James,
    Thanks for your quick response. Yesterday we had been running down
    the path of examining the calling conventions and trying to change them
    to PASCAL, but without much success. After receiving your note, we
    went back over it again, and this time we were able to finally to piece it
    together. In addition to editing the Forte-generated .cc file to declare
    the functions as PASCAL, we also had to turn off the compiler's case
    sensitivity. (The Crystal .lib file had the function names in mixed case,
    but the Borland compiler was generating all uppercase for the names.)
    Now I had actually tried this yesterday and it didn't work (in fact it
    generated a whole bunch of new errors) - because until we took a
    second look at it today, I didn't realize that Borland's linker actually has
    TWO flags that control case sensitivity. If you only turn one or the
    other off, things can get pretty ugly looking. As soon as we turned
    both of them off, the compile and link went beautifully. Again, thanks
    for your help; hopefully we are over the worst of it now!
    Dale

    Reports' Report Engine. We are using Borland C++ version 4.52.
    Unfortunately, we have been unable to get a clean compile after a day
    and half of effort. We get as far as the link stage of the
    compilation, and
    the compiler aborts with an "Unknown symbol" error message for each
    of the functions we are trying to wrapper. We have tried a number of
    ideas to fix this problem, and are continuing to try to solve it on

    We are trying to wrapper Crystal Reports from Forte. I know that there
    are a number of other people in this same boat, as I've seen messages
    posted here at various points during the past few weeks. We are having
    a particular problem with getting the compile to go through, which we
    have sent in to Forte Tech Support. I'm forwarding the message I sent
    Tech Support to this group in the hopes that someone here may have
    already seen and resolved a similar problem.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

  • Problem with DECODE block in WHERE clause

    Hi,
    I'm facing problem with DECODE statement. I just simulated my problem in the simple way as follows. If I execute this following query, I should get "hello", but I'm not getting anything (ZERO rows returned).
    SELECT 'hello' FROM DUAL
    WHERE 'sample1' in (DECODE(1, 1, '''sample1'', ''sample2'', ''sample3''',
    2, '''sample4'', ''sample5'', ''sample6'''
    I think some problem is there in my WHERE clause.
    But When I'm exeucting the following query as a seperate query, then I'm getting the value of DECODE block properly, but didn;t understnad why its not returning the same way when I'm putting the same DECODE statement in WHERE clause.
    SELECT DECODE(1, 1, '''sample1'', ''sample2'', ''sample3''',
    2, '''sample4'', ''sample5'', ''sample6'''
    FROM DUAL;
    Please help me to get out of this problem. Thank you so much in advance.
    Thanks,
    Ramji.

    The value returned by SELECT DECODE(1, 1, '''sample1'', ''sample2'', ''sample3''',2, '''sample4'', ''sample5'', ''sample6''') FROM DUAL;
    'sample1', 'sample2', 'sample3' is a single string. Consider it x.
    SELECT 'hello' FROM DUAL WHERE 'sample1' in ( DECODE(1, 1, '''sample1'', ''sample2'', ''sample3''',2, '''sample4'', ''sample5'', ''sample6'''));
    is like SELECT 'hello' FROM DUAL WHERE 'sample1' in ('x');
    or
    SELECT 'hello' FROM DUAL WHERE 'sample1' in ('''sample1'', ''sample2'', ''sample3''') and not
    SELECT 'hello' FROM DUAL WHERE 'sample1' in ('sample1', 'sample2', 'sample3');
    For this same reason SELECT 'hello' FROM DUAL WHERE 'sample1' in (select '''sample1'', ''sample2'', ''sample3''' from dual);
    also does'nt work.
    Please use INSTR to find whether 'sample1' exists in the string 'sample1', 'sample2', 'sample3'.

  • Problems with decoding an latin1-encoded url

    Hi,
    i have a problem with decoding german umlaut-characters from an URL.
    I'm using Tomcat 5.5 on a Linux server and one on a windows machine for development. Both webapps have the same configurations.
    A servlet decodes the URL-String, parses it and stores the parsed data into a mysql-DB.
    For decoding the query-string i'm using org.apache.commons.codec.net.URLCodec.URLCodec.decode .
    Here's the code:
    String unparsedParameters = request.getQueryString();
    URLCodec codec = new URLCodec("ISO-8859-1");
    result = codec.decode(unparsedParameters);Here an example for a query-string: http://servername:8080/servlet/Import?Etwas%20wurde%20am%2025.08.2010%2010%3A16%3A50%20*ge%E4ndert*
    On the windows machine the word "*geändert*" is decoded correctly. But on the linux server i get "*ge?ndert*". It makes no difference if i write the result into the database or just into a logfile.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

    Problem resolved.
    Instead of using the decode-method as described in my fist message now i'm doing the folowing:
    fURLDecodigCharset = "ISO8859-1";
    byte[] bytes = originalParam.getBytes(fURLDecodigCharset);
    byte[] decodeUrl = URLCodec.decodeUrl(bytes);
    result = new String (decodeUrl, fURLDecodigCharset);because the method "decode" decodes the string by using the defaultcharset. And that was the problem.
    >
    The default charset is determined during virtual-machine startup and typically depends upon the locale and charset of the underlying operating system.
    >
    Thats why i've got different behaviours on different systems.
    Thanks

  • Problem with URLDecoder.decode(s, enc)

    Hi!
    I'm having problems with the URLDecoder.decode(s, enc) method... When I send a string, encoded with the Javascript escape() function, to the server side of my application, I get a problem decoding it using this:
    myString = URLDecoder.decode(myString, "iso-8859-1");It gives me this error: URLDecoder: Illegal hex characters in escape (%) pattern - For input string: "u2"
    My html defines the encoding as follows:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />The string being submitted contains a special apostrophe ( ' ) copy/pasted from MS Word wich then translates it as %u2019 (what's that??? Unicode???).
    Can anyone tell me what is happening? How can I encode / decode this properly?

    I'm having exactly the same issue.
    Did you solved the problem?
    Regards,
    Gabriel

  • Problem with decode!!!

    Hi guys,
    I have a problem with "decode"!
    How can I tell the decode expression
    that if a rowset don't exists --> then doing something.
    I've tried that with "NULL" but that don't works.
    here my code:
    I wanted that if tx.text doesn't exists then
    it returns fs.anlageschwerpunkt_lang, and otherwise
    it returns tx.Text.
    select
    decode(tx.Text,NULL,fs.anlageschwerpunkt_lang,tx.Text) Anlageschwerpunkt_1 from
    POI.Fondsstamm fs,
    Texte tx,
    Texttypstamm txy
    where
    tx.match='amfcomm'
    and tx.match=rtrim(fs.match)
    and tx.TEXTTYPID=txy.TEXTTYPID
    and txy.BEREICHSID=14
    and txy.texttyp='Marketingstrategie'
    I hope somebody of you can help me
    thanxx
    Schoeib

    I read Schoeibs question differently; no ROWS are being returned. In that case you cannot expect DECODE or any other function to do anything. Assuming that rows always exist in fs and txy and are only missing in tx, then you need an outer join. Note that the join of tx.match = rtrim(fs.match) has been altered to avoid outer joining to more than one table. As mentioned before, although the decode is OK, NVL could be used instead.
    select
    decode(tx.Text,NULL,fs.anlageschwerpunkt_lang,tx.Text) Anlageschwerpunkt_1 from
    POI.Fondsstamm fs,
    Texte tx,
    Texttypstamm txy
    where
    tx.match(+)='amfcomm'
    and rtrim(fs.match) = 'amfcomm'
    and tx.TEXTTYPID(+)=txy.TEXTTYPID
    and txy.BEREICHSID=14
    and txy.texttyp='Marketingstrategie'

  • Problem with inspire 5100 digital decoder

    I have some problem with the decoder included with the Inspire 500 digital. I usually have it connected by soundblaster's audigy digital out to decoder's coaxial digital in (SPDIF). and recently sound has dissaperas replaced by a chipping and cropping low noise. Have you any ideas about it's. When I connect the soundblaser's speakers out to decoder's line in works only for stereo (losing 5.1 capabilities), and bypassing the decoder i can get 5.1 sound, but i can't use the included remote control to change volume or anything.
    Thank you.
    I'm sorry for my poor english, it's not my native lenguage.

    I'm not sure exactly how you're connecting things. You say you connected an optic out to a digital DIN on the receiver? These are totally different connectors.
    The output on the card itself isn't optical. What you could use is a minijack to RCA (female) adapter, and then connect a standard RCA to RCA, male to male (SPDIF) cable to that, which plugs into the coaxial input on the receiver. Alternati'vely you could use a minijack to Digital DIN adapter and connect the DIN cable to that, and connect to the receiver.
    Do you have the SBLi've 24-bit External? Do you mean you connected the optical output to the optical input on the receiver?
    It may be best to contact Customer Support to speak to them one-on-one, to go over the connections and settings, if you're unsure of which to use.
