Suggestions for Chunking Large Outbound Web Service Messages from BPEL

We have a problem today when Oracle EBS sends a large amount of data to BPEL, BPEL processes that data and then attempts to pass that data as a web service via a partner link to the PeopleSoft integration broker. When the message is too large ( > 10,000 records or so) we are hitting some issues on the PeopleSoft web server side being unable to receive that large of a message.
"allocLargeObjectOrArray - Object size: 32768016, Num elements: 8192000"
We are considering adjusting the BPEL program to chunk the outbound data being sent to PeopleSoft. The idea would be to use some type of loop and just break after so many lines, transmit the current message and then start a new message.
The PeopleSoft integration broker has a setting, for outbound type integrations, that can enable an automated chunking feature called ‘Max App Message Size’. I was wondering, does BPEL have a similar configuration setting that might provide this feature? I’m dreaming up that this could be a property of the partner link object that could allow you to specify a certain ‘max size’ and then it would just know to start a new message at that threshold. That might avoid us having to make any additional BPEL code changes at this point.
Currently using version 11.1.1.1.
Any advice, much appreciated.

Ken

I have found the following tutorial that implements something similiar to what I am trying to do: http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/10g/10135/odiscenario_bpelcallback/odiscenario_bpelcallback.htm#t3
Because of this, I am now confident that the conversation IDs can be used to achieve correlation. I have implemented the pattern by performing
an invoke activity on the web service, passing the result of ora:getConversationId() as part of the message. The conversation Id returned is of UUID-Form.
After the invoke activity, I have added a pick activity to receive the response message supplied by the web service through IDeliveryService.post(...). I can see that the message is received correctly by loooking at the contents of DLV_MESSAGE. However, the pick activity times out every time (after 10m). Looking at DLV_SUBSCRIPTION reveals that the conversation_id for the pick/receive activity is set to a value of the form bpel://localhost/default/MyBpelProcessName~1.0/7610001-BpInv0-BpSeq2.7-2. As far as I know, this should instead be set to the UUID that ora:getConversationId() returned before performing the invoke activity. What is going wrong here?
Thanks for your help!

  • 10g: Invoking a web service asynchronously from BPEL

    Hello,
    I am trying to figure out a good, generic method for making a previously synchronous web service asynchronous and changing the way in which it is invoked from BPEL. I am using SOA Suite 10g (10.1.3.5)
    As I understand, one possible method to achieve this is to use IDeliveryService.post() to deliver the web service's response to the BPEL process. For this route, the standard practice of correlation seems to be to supply a correlation Id when invoking the web service and returning the same correlation id as a part of the web service's response message. However, I want to avoid this since it would mean that all response messages from the web service (10+) would have to be modified to include a correlationId, which is problematic in the special case of this web service. Including a correlationId in the request message is possible, however.
    I have tried the approach of using the conversation Id directly instead of the correlation Id, by reading the value of ora:getConversationId(), passing this to the web service and setting the property CONVERSATION_ID of the response NormalizedMessage to the same value when returning. However, I cannot seem to get this approach right. Is this possible at all?
    An alternative might be to use WS-Addressing, but I do not know if I can make the web service support this - it is written using the EJB WebService-Annotations feature and runs on OC4J as well.
    Do you have any suggestions on how this problem could be resolved?

  • Outbound Web Service - called by scripting

    Hi, I have a problem dealing with external web services. I was provided the WSDL from an external app, then I run the WSDL Import Wizard to create the Business Service and several Integration Objects, 2 per method within the WSDL file, after that, I import the XML file in the Web Application in the Administration - Web Service view.
    While executing the script in the BS, I get the following error when the InvokeMethod is executed:
    Error: SiebelError: Operation 'registerProject' of Web Service 'http://project.service.company.com.ProjectSupportService' at port 'ProjectSupportServiceHttpPort' failed with the following explanation: "Not enough message parts were received for the operation.".(SBL-EAI-04308)(SBL-SCR-00141)
    I'll like to know if there is something missing or completely wrong with my script, this is the first time I need to consume an external web service and I'm not sure about the proper syntax. The script I added to the PreInvokeMethod in the BS is:
    var objService = TheApplication().GetService("ProjectSupportServicePortType");
    var wsInput = TheApplication().NewPropertySet();
    var wsOutput = TheApplication().NewPropertySet();
    var p1 = TheApplication().NewPropertySet();
    p1.SetType("registerProjectRequest:parameters");
    p1.SetProperty("MessageId","");
    p1.SetProperty("MessageType","Integration Object");
    p1.SetProperty("IntObjectName","Web Service");
    p1.SetProperty("IntObjectFormat","Siebel Hierarchical");
    var ListOfpchild = TheApplication().NewPropertySet();
    var pchild1 = TheApplication().NewPropertySet();
    ListOfpchild.SetType("ListOfregisterProject");
    pchild1.SetType("registerProject");
    pchild1.SetProperty("createdByUserId", "7777");
    pchild1.SetProperty("customerId", "33333");
    pchild1.SetProperty("projectDescription", "TEST PROJECT");
    pchild1.SetProperty("projectManagerId", "999");
    pchild1.SetProperty("projectName", "1ST CITI BANK");
    ListOfpchild.AddChild(pchild1);
    p1.AddChild(ListOfpchild);
    wsInput.AddChild(p1);
    objService.InvokeMethod("registerProject", wsInput, wsOutput);

    Hi,
    Please check the Web Service Port Address is:
    1) Go to Administration - Web Services > Outbound Web Services.
    2) Locate the record where Name = ProjectSupportService
    3) In the middle "Service Port" applet, locate the "ProjectSupportServiceHttpPort" record.
    4) In the "Service Port" applet > "ProjectSupportServiceHttpPort" record, the Address field.
    Check wether the Address is correct. That could be the issue.
    Regards,
    Joseph

  • Siebel outbound web service  question

    I'm writing a customized 'SendMailing' outbound web service. I have tested my web service with stand alone client, and now I want to integrate it with siebel. My step is:
    1 configure the SendMailingService in Administration -> web services -> outbound web services, in Service Ports panel I set the Address of the 'SendMailing' to my Web service endpoint, such as http://myhost/Siebel/SendMailing?WSDL
    2 configure the Email Marketing Server (in 'Administration -> marketing ->servers), set 'SendMailing' (outbound web service port) to 'Email sending daemon(ESD)', and other parameters such as from address.
    3 create an email treatment which use the configured email marketing server as the delivery profile.
    4 create a campaign with the created treatment and assign a list to the campaign.
    5 load the campaign
    6 launch the campaign.
    after the 6th step is done, nothing happens - no error message, no logs found, the campaign status still remains 'in planning'.
    some other clues:
    1 when I do the 'test email' for the email treatment, the following error log is found:
    ObjMgrLog Error 1 000009ec4bf10fc5:0 2010-05-25 08:16:35 (httptransport.cpp (1631)) SBL-EAI-04117: HTTP Request error during 'Submitting Data SendHTTP request': 'Status code - 500'
    ObjMgrLog Error 1 000009ec4bf10fc5:0 2010-05-25 08:16:35 (httptransport.cpp (981)) SBL-EAI-04117: HTTP Request error during 'Submitting Data Send HTTP request': 'Status code - 500'
    ObjMgrLog Error 1 000009ec4bf10fc5:0 2010-05-25 08:16:35 (soapbinding.cpp (564)) SBL-EAI-04304: Unknown Part 'http://www.bea.com/servers/wls70/webservice/fault/1.0.0:stacktrace' for operation 'createMailing' exists in SOAP message.

    -> Unable to find xml element for parameter: options
    I guess siebel does try to invoke the outbound web service for the 'test email', but it seems do nothing for regular campaign launch.
    Did I miss anything? please help! thanks in advance!

    I have known the reason of the error logs: the soap message sent by siebel lacks 2 parameters. The 2 parameters should be contained in the soap message with a value of null or empty if they are really empty, but the siebel removes these 2 parameters from the soap message. So the soap stack of my client refused the soap request. I think this should be a siebel bug.
    Now my question becomes why I can't launch a campaign? I followed the steps of 'create offer' -> create campaign -> associate the offer with campaign -> assign a list->allocate a list->load campaign -> launch campaign. but the campaign just keeps 'In planning'.
    Did I miss anything? Or where can I find some clues? such as logs...

    is there an EASY way to submit podcasts to the itunes store? i've tried creating podcasts in garageband, then somewhere after wordpress  itunes  doesn't recognize the feed.
    my process has been (i am open to suggestions for other free and EASY services/methods):
    garageband : create & edit audio. add 1400x1400 image.
    share to itunes.
    drag file to desktop.
    upload .m4a file to google drive.
    create a link post in wordpress using "podcast" tag & create "podcast" category.
    click on "entries rss" in wordpress, which takes me to the rss subscribe page (which is basically just my wordpress address with "/feed" at the end.
    i copy this url.
    go to itunes store > then "submit a podcast"
    itunes gives me the error message "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
    when i try to subscribe to my podcast in itunes, it does, but gives me no episodes available.
    i went back into wordpress and changed settings/ reading settings to : "full text" from "summary"
    still the same error message.
    i added a feedburner step after wordpress but got the same errors. i don't think i should have to add feedburner.
    wordpress seems to be encapsulating the rss, what am i doing wrong?
    this so much easier when you could go directly from garage band to iweb to mobileme; i miss those apple days (also idisk).

    if anyone has a super EASY process, i would LOVE to know what it is. EASY, meaning no html and also free. there are many free online storage systems available, many of which i currently use. the above process was just me trying to figure it out, if you have an easier method, please share. thank you so much!

  • Best practice for simply invoking a web service

    Hello,
    We have web services deployed and accessible as wsdl documents in the SOA service manager/UDDI product. What is the best practice for simply calling a web service method deployed without regard to whether it is deployed on Tomcat, WebSphere, Oracle, etc.
    I'd just like to create a java client to make a web service call and JAXRPC has me confused because you seem to have to have custody of the web service implementation code to call a service. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  • Siebel outbound web service real example

    Can anyone point me to a real outbound web service example/tutorial. I created a simple web service (get date service) in Java that I want to call from Siebel.
    I imported the WSDL into Siebel tools using the wizard and got the business service and integration objects generated.
    Now, how do I test the web service in Siebel? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Just a further note: will poking around the log files (PSCcObjMgr_enu_0011_11534346.log) I found the following. I confirmed that I can perform the web service outside of Siebel (using soapUI tool). Its a very simple service that just returns today's date. What am I doing wrong?

  • Architecture/design for high volume web service calls from on Demand

    Hi,
    We have hundreds of end users (less than 600 users) that will be initiating web service calls from On Demand that will deal with both querying (stateful transaction) and inserting/updating data (stateless). Currently, we see a limitation on the number of stateless sessions (33) that can initiate web service calls. We are afraid this will lead to poor performance with the number of sessions that are allocated for stateless sessions.
    Can someone provide any design or framework information that can be implemented for high volume web service calls from On Demand? We anticipate 35K+ web service calls that will be initiated from On Demand per hour.
    Thanks.

  • Retreiving Object_Version_Number for a deployed HZ_PARTY_V2PUB web service

    I have the Parties(HZ_PARTY_V2PUB) web service deployed from the Integrated SOA Gateway. I'm trying to use this web service and others to develop a stand-alone application used for testing purposes. The update functions in that web service all require the Object_Version_Number for the row you are trying to update.
    I know how to find the version number from a simple query:
    SELECT object_version_number FROM APPS.HZ_PARTIES WHERE PARTY_NAME = 'My Org';
    Is there a web service that allows us to find the object_version_number in a similar fashion?
    If I have to interact directly with the database via queries in order to use deployed web services, then it doesn't seem practical to use the web service interfaces, since I could just as easily make stored procedure calls. We've thought about creating custom web services to expose the data that we need, but it seems like these should already exist since the information is required by all of the HZ web service update functions that I've looked at so far.

    hi,
    there's no error at all, it's just that i can't see "Ash Lee" on my screen. Can i upload some screen for this thread? if yes, how ?

  • Configuring SSL to make a HTTPS web Service call from XI

    Hi All,
    We are making a <b>https web service call</b> using soap adapter from XI. Looking at the various posts and SAP help links, we are configuring SSL for the same.
    The procedure given in SAP help has been followed to configure SSL but with no luck. If someone had done this could you please give a <b>step by step procedure</b> to configure SSL, we might have missed out on something.
    Also are there are <b>any other settings apart from SSL</b> to be done to make a  https web service call using soap adapter from XI.

    It would probably help if you could post what code you've got and explain which function(s) it's complaining about, as I doubt people will want to guess.

  • Invoke web service created from workshop

    Hi,
    I am trying to write a stand alone java client to connect to web service created
    from workshop( please see the attached wsdl file), but can't get it work. Did
    somebody know why. Here is my java client code :
    import java.net.URL;
    import javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory;
    import javax.xml.rpc.Service;
    import javax.xml.rpc.Call;
    import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
    import weblogic.webservice.context.WebServiceContext;
    import weblogic.webservice.context.WebServiceSession;
    import weblogic.webservice.context.WebServiceHeader;
    public class OrderTestClient {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    // Setup the global JAXM message factory
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.soap.MessageFactory",
    "weblogic.webservice.core.soap.MessageFactoryImpl");
    // Setup the global JAX-RPC service factory
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory",
    "weblogic.webservice.core.rpc.ServiceFactoryImpl");
    // create service factory
    ServiceFactory factory = ServiceFactory.newInstance();
    // define qnames
    //String targetNamespace = "http://localhost/orderweb";
    String targetNamespace = "http://www.openuri.org/";
    QName serviceName = new QName(targetNamespace, "newsmlorder");
    QName portName = new QName(targetNamespace, "newsmlorderSoap");
    //QName operationName = new QName("tns:newsmlorderSoap", "getUserAddress");
    QName operationName = new QNam("http://localhost:7021/orderweb/", "getUserAddress");
    URL wsdlLocation = new URL("http://localhost:7021/orderweb/newsmlorder.jws?WSDL");
    // create service
    Service service = factory.createService(wsdlLocation, serviceName);
    // create call
    Call call = service.createCall(portName, operationName);
    WebServiceContext wsContext = WebServiceContext.currentContext();
    WebServiceSession session =(WebServiceSession)wsContext.getSession();
    System.out.println(" Session : " + session.toString() );
    System.out.println(" == step 11 ===");
    // invoke the remote web service
    System.out.println(" == step 12 ===");
    String result = (String) call.invoke(new Object[] {"testPing"});
    System.out.println("test result : " + result);
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("test result : " + e.getMessage());
    [order.wsdl]

    Hi,
    I did not get any error, however the service call is always return null even though
    I hard code return String, so I knew it failed.
    I tried your following code and it worked. You mention that I have to download
    proxy.jar from workshop overview page, but I can't find it. Would you please tell
    me where to find the download menu in workshop.
    If I want to build a dynamic stand alone client to invoke service created from
    workshop ( my original approach), what should I do?
    I am trying to use workshop to handle multipart soap message (soap message with
    attachments), could you please send me a example ?
    Very appreciate your help!
    Thanks again.

    Hi Lina,
    Are you getting any errors?
    Did you happen to try with a static client? Is that working?
    (For static client you have to download the proxy jar from the workshop
    overview
    page and have it in the classpath)
    I have attacjhed the proxy jar and here is a sample client. Let me know
    how this
    goes.
    public class Test
    public static void main(String [] args)
         Newsmlorder_Impl m_proxyImpl = null;
         NewsmlorderSoap m_proxy = null;
         try
              m_proxyImpl = new Newsmlorder_Impl();
              catch (IOException ex)
              System.out.println("Error getting proxy");
              ex.printStackTrace();
              m_proxy = m_proxyImpl.getnewsmlorderSoap();
              GetUserAddress p = m_proxy.getUserAddress();
    Thanks a lot,

  • Trouble Calling Web Service Function From Runbook

    i have downloaded the OrchestratorServiceModule web services module from CodePlex and i am successfully using it in runbooks.  But for some reason when i call the runbook from another runbook, the Get-OrchestratorRunbook function returns no data
    ($runbook variable is $null).   The error message states the runbook name that i provide "is not found in Orchestrator".    This function works well when the runbook is called directly.   The variables
    are populated.  $creds is set to $null.   there are no errors regarding installing the module or finding the function.   any ideas as to why this would succeed when the runbook is called directly but fail when called by another runbook?
    $runbook = Get-OrchestratorRunbook -serviceurl $url -runbookpath $rbpath -credentials $creds

    George,
    The documented way to call a web service using PL/SQL is to use UTL_DBWS package.
    Here are a couple of links that may be useful:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/utl_dbws10g.php
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/callout_users_guide.htm
    There is also an APEX package wwv_flow_web_services, but I couldn't find any documentation on it.

  • Convert my web service to processus Bpel graphically

    Hi,
    Can you suggest me an article or I can turn my web service to BPEL graphically, because I have complicated web of service and I am just starting out in BPEL.I use ORACLE BPEL MANAGER with JDEVELOPER.
    Best regards,

    I think you can use oracle web services manager for this. I can't speak from personal experience but from what I've heard I think this is the preferred approach for dealing with secured web services.

  • Making Web Service calls from a Form in the WorkSpace

    I am getting conflicting information about this, so I hope someone here could clarify it. TIA.
    This is what I want to do:
    after a form is displayed/launched in the WorkSpace,
    when the user Tabs out of a field (Exit event) on the form,
    I want to make a Web Service call from the form,
    get the result from the WebService,
    and use the Result to populate another field on the form.
    I know for certain that this works if I Reader-Extend the form,
    and I set the JavaScript at the Exit event (to execute WebService call)
    as "Run At Client".
    The question is:
    can I make the WebService calls without Reader-Extending the form???
    I have been told that, yes you can,
    but *only if* you let the JavaScript "Run At Server".
    I tried that, but it caused the Reader to crash.
    Some other people told me,
    no you can not,
    even if you "Run At Server", the form still needs to be Reader-Extended,
    when using it in the WorkSpace environment.
    So, what is the truth? can someon tell me?
    Can I make WebServers calls from the Server-side at all?
    Do I really need to Reader-Extend the form even if calling it from server side?
    What exactly is it SUPPOSED to work?
    thanks

    yes, thank you both. I got the fix from Adobe Tech Support last week. It's working.
    The fix I got included a rather complex looking "Submit Service" though. Makes me wonder how a regular user would know that he needs to write such a Submit Service?? and even if he knows that he needs a special Submit Service, would he know how to write it??? I found no documentation for this type of things either.
    Shouldn't this solution be published somewhere in Adobe's website? Dev Lab perhaps?
