Sun C 5.9 Build13_0 2006/01/06 fails to compile stdlib.h

On both IA-32 and AMD64, c89 fails to compile a single-line
test file containing
#include <stdlib.h>
"/usr/include/stdlib.h", line 537: long long not allowed in Xc mode
"/usr/include/stdlib.h", line 537: invalid type combination
I suggest that the "no long long" in Xc mode be dropped
on these platforms, because that type is used in standard
header files needed by most software.

We will consider turning this into a warning and supressing that warning in system header files.

    On both IA-32 and AMD64 systems running Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 1), c89 fails to compile
    a single-line file containing
    #include <wchar.h>
    c89 -c foo.c
    "/usr/include/wchar.h", line 508: long long not allowed in Xc mode
    "/usr/include/wchar.h", line 508: invalid type combination
    "/usr/include/wchar.h", line 515: long long not allowed in Xc mode
    "/usr/include/wchar.h", line 515: invalid type combination
    This header file requires support of long long, so the
    restriction in the Xc mode should probably be relaxed
    for these platforms, since we cannot change system
    header files.

    Ah, I see the c89 script on RedHat has a bug, i.e.
    it fails to add -pedantic. So it could properly diagnose
    the use of long long ...
    % more t.c

    "/usr/include/stdint.h", line 141: invalid type combination
    On this platform, long long support is essential; we cannot
    change system header files. I suggest that the restriction
    in -Xc mode on long long be relaxed for this platform.

    Well, its the task of -Xc to enforce strict conformance (that is prohibit compilation of nonstandard and thus nonportable code).
    I believe you know that long long is not a standard integer type in C90.
    If you need -Xc you may conisder compiling with c99.
    If you definitely need c90 then you better skip -Xc and compile with "cc -Xa -xc99=%none".
    We will consider relaxing -Xc on linux, though it does not strike me as a most elegant solution ...

    Fedor.

  • MacBook Pro 2006 2.16gb fails on wake up and refusing to start etc!

    Hi everyone,
    I've been having tremendous issues with my 2006 MacBook Pro 2.16gb. If it went to sleep, overnight for example, I would be unable to wake it up. I'd keep hitting the return key and nothing, then the lid latch light would go out. I'd hit the power button, something, either the fan or the hard disc would spin up for a few seconds and then I'd hear a small ping and it would shut down again. I could do this ten times in a row and nothing. Then it wouldn't work at all for a while and not even the latch light would light up. For all intents and purposes, an aluminum brick.
    I managed to get it restarted by disconnecting the power overnight including removing the battery. Then battery in, then power cable, then hit the power key. The disc would spin up and the front light would light for a few seconds, then just like above, it would go out again. I'd do this 4-5 times, then the latch light would stay on, the spinning sound would be enhanced by a second sound on the Hard drive side for a couple of seconds, then the Disc Drive would make a noise and I was back in business, until the next time it went to sleep. Now, if I refused to let it go to sleep, which I did for weeks at a time and just dimmed the display, it would function perfectly. I upgraded recently to Snow Leopard, and the first time around, it was a complete nightmare and the machine just bricked on me and I had to reinstall from the back up back to Leopard. HOWEVER, when I tried it a second time a month later (after I'd upgraded some of the software on the machine including Quick Time) it just upgraded without any issues and restarted normally. In fact, it woke up a couple of times normally as well on the first day if not left for too long. However, when I left it overnight, back to the old issues again.
    Extra information: I've tried all the fixes I've found on power and wake up issues, from resetting power management, PRAM/VRAM resets, dumping all the recommended plist prefs, etc. etc. etc.
    Everybody is telling me it's either my logic board, it's this, it's that but generally telling me it's something REALLY expensive. NOW, if this is true...
    QUESTION: WHY is my MBP behaving perfectly when booted in Windows XP??????
    I've left it overnight and it woke up perfectly! Twice I've closed the lid overnight, which in OSX guaranteed a restart or a dead MAC, I've disconnected the power system and put it to sleep, I've done everything to try and replicate the issue in Windows, but I can't!
    Right now, I have a REALLY expensive Windows laptop with all my purchased software over on the Mac Side.
    BTW, I've also run all the tests God imagined using Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro latest version for Snow Leopard etc. etc., I've stressed the Hard disc as much as I could and everything just keeps coming up roses with ALL the hardware including RAM etc.
    Two nights ago I wiped the hard drive, zeroed it out, then installed 10.6.1 clean. I let it ride for a day and it worked perfectly again. I then reinstalled my software from backup while deleting my old user and creating a new one. I had noticed that there were some error messages in the console on the old owner and thought that might be it. Well, it's started doing the same thing again and I'm now suspicious that there's something conflicting with the wake up, hibernation and sleep modes that is causing the problem. I backed up everything and have now replicated my problem and am pasting the contents of the system log in the hope someone can make some suggestions as to what the computer is doing. Unfortunately, I can't interpret. BTW, I did install "safesleep" because one person suggested it as a fix and that seems to have an issue if I'm reading the console right, but I don't know how to remove it. And anyway, the computer was doing this before I installed it... The following system log is from the time I completed the backup, then I let it sleep on its own, then when I tried to wake it up, it failed to wake up. Then I pressed the power button and got the spin up and down described at the beginning of the message 6-8 times before it started normally.
    Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

  • Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 config. failed during installation

    {color:#0000ff}Hi,
    I have installed sun java communication suite 5 on a single host on sun solaris 10.
    I have installed required packages and it works fine.
    But as per organization need, I have to change domain name.
    So i have uninstalled everything and tried to install again with new domain name.
    I have made proper entries in hosts file and resolve.conf file.
    But duing the first phase of installation only , i failed in configuring access manager 7.1
    I have also cerate same scenario in my test environment, but everytime i face the same error.
    and sun java access manager 7.1 fails in first stage of installation only.
    So would like to know the proper installation procedure while i change the domain name on same hardware...
    I have checked both installation logs & summary logs.
    But no error, no failed , no severe.

  • Old I mac 2006 version, safari fails to open or drops have to restart all the time.  Firefox does the same thing.

    I have an Old I Mac using OS X 10.6.8 recently I have noticed that safari fails to open, quits then refused to reload.  The samthing happens to fiefox as well.  The only way I get around this issue so far is to restart my computer.  Any solutions, or is it time to buy a new mac??

    I have an old iMac 2006 with Snow Leopard as well. The monitor is shot and I have to screen share on my newer iMac to even use it, but it's still chugging away.
    I do know that at some point it's going to die. I make sure I have backups of my data so when that day comes my data will be safe on my clone backup.
    Both of these applications can be used to create a clone.

  • Update 2006-06-28 failed. Now iPod unaccesible.

    Good Morning,
    Tried updating my iPod Nano yesterday. It appears to have failed. I allowed it to continue all night but the updater window was blank. The iPod display says do not disconnect and a small "daisy" timer appears in the upper header from time to time. The iPod is seen in Windows as a F: drive.
    When I open Updater it proceeds, says initializing, then goes blank. iPod not seen in iTunes. Tried the 5 "R"'s.
    When I try to stop "Apple iPod USB Device" it says "The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device later."
    If I choose to stop the "Generic Device" it will allow a disconnect.
    NO music files are accesible on the iPOd although the memory on the "about" page shows memory allocated.
    Please help me. I have followed all the instructions available on the website.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    I'm answering my own question here:
    In searching this forum, I found an answer from CasperGemini posted 9/3/06 9:34AM.
    The Reformatting instructions worked flawlessly!
    Quoting him here:
    To format the drive in Windows, please do the following.
    1. Force iPod into disk mode (Menu and Select until you get the Apple logo, and then immediately hold Select and Play/Pause until you get a check mark that says Disk Mode and OK to Disconnect)
    2. Connect the iPod to the computer and wait for it to show Do Not Disconnect
    3. Click Start, click Run
    4. Type compmgmt.msc
    5. In the left-hand column click on Disk Management and wait for it to complete the connection process
    6. Right-click the iPod's disk (make SURE it is the iPod's disk) and click on "format"
    7. Volume Label = iPod; File System = FAT32
    8. You want Quickformat unchecked
    9. Start the format and wait for it to be done
    10. It's recommended that you restore the iPod when it is complete, but it isn't entirely necessary. Your iPod may go right back into iTunes and allow you to put your music onto it.
    Hope this is helpful

            int* pi = X::decode();
            double* pd = X::decode<double>();
            return 0;
    }It actually manages to compile it if the struct X is defined slightly differently:
    struct X
        static int* decode(int Val);
        template<typename T> static T* decode() { return new T; }
        static int* decode();
    int* X::decode(int t) { return new int(t); }
    int* X::decode() { return new int; }
    int main() {
            int* pi = X::decode();
            double* pd = X::decode<double>();
            return 0;
    }None of this happens with g++ or Intel C++.

  • I CANNOT export a movie in CS4, that was simple in CS3

    Recently upgraded from CS3, and have run into an absolute brick wall - CS4 will not allow me to export a movie. It opens Media Encoder, and I run the queue, and after about 30 seconds it comes back with an error log saying "Error Compiling Movie: Unknown Error" That is NOT a useful error message.
    I have tried Quicktime with a number of different codecs, including "none", I have tried H264.
    All I want is an uncompressed mov file that I can continue working with outside of Premiere / Adobe.
    There are no blank portions in the video.
    Error log (including all the different attempts) follows:

    I have exactly the same problem. Premiere Pro CS4. MP4 files in a 19 minute movie. Tried to export as MPEG 2 DVD, .MOV .AVI .WMV. All failed in Adobe Media Encoder. Last test said Could not write XMP date to outputfile. AME shows the encoding running but then yellow warning triagle in the status box. I tried the keyframe suggestion, no difference. I have reinstalled CS4, no luck. Very fraustrating as the client expects their DVD tomorrow. Any ideas would be apprecited. I called Adobe and they had no idea.

  • JMS problem with Sun Application Server 8.2

    Hi!
    I've just started trying JMS and found a problem.
    I set a connection factory called "QueueConnectionFactory" in the Sun Application Server Admin Consol.
    After this I test this code:
    import javax.jms.*;
    import javax.naming.*;
    public class Sun_JNDI
    public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
    Context jndiContext = null;
    System.setProperty("java.naming.factory.initial","com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory" );
    System.setProperty("java.naming.factory.url.pkgs","=com.sun.enterprise.naming");
    System.setProperty("java.naming.provider.url","localhost:1024");
    jndiContext = new InitialContext();
    Object O = jndiContext.lookup("QueueConnectionFactory");
    System.out.println(jndiContext);
    in result I got this long Exception message:

    So I tested this code under Netbeans5 and I don't where to find jar file contains the class: com.sun.messaging.jms.ra.ResourceAdapter
    Other time I tryied to lookup this URL: "java:comp/env/jms/QueueConnectionFactory"
    The result was: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException
    I know it is a small code example but if I'm not able to solve this problem I can't go on with JMS.
    I would be glad by any help.
    Regards:
    Sandor

    Hello
    In my code it looks like that:
    1: System.setProperty("com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory", "iiop://localhost:3700");
    2: Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    3: TopicConnectionFactory factory = (TopicConnectionFactory)ctx.lookup("jms/DailyDestinationFactory");
    4: TopicConnection connection = factory.createTopicConnection();
    5: TopicSession session = connection.createTopicSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    6: Topic topic = (Topic)ctx.lookup("jms/DailyBean");
    7: TopicPublisher pub = session.createPublisher(topic);
    8: TextMessage msg = session.createTextMessage();
    9: msg.setText("NewMessage");
    10: pub.send(msg);
    and it work with Sun App Server 8.2.

  • Web Service deployment on Sun One 7

    Hi,
    I'm using Netbeans 5.5 and have built a web service that targets tomcat 5.5, J2EE 1.4 and source level 1.5.
    The Service runs very well in the IDE.
    Now, the company's Web Server is Sun One 7.0 and I'm trying to deploy to this server unsuccessfully. I moved all the built files from the IDE to the Sun One 7 folders and i get the following exception on startup.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks.
    P.S (Do I have to install JWSDP somewhere? I see it mentioned here and there in the forum)

  • SUN TEAM Pl Help - Using EJB in JSC

    When I posted the following, as of now there are over 33 viewers who still haven't replied yet. Could you guys help me out? I'm your spokensman around here in Auckland, planning to make JSC as a part and parcel of our Java curriculum.
    The NetBeans 5.5 tutorial is out of sync with the IDE. However, with the IDE I created a simple sessionbean with one business method that returns a hardcoded value of type String. This was housed in a EJBModule called EJBModule1. I added this to Creator-2 and dragged the only method called m1() into the SessionBean of Creator-2. I included a button and a staticText and the code given below. Building the project was successful. When it was run, on clicking the button, the following error was displayed:
    com.sun.data.provider.DataProviderException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
    The code:
    public String button1_action() {
    try {
    String name = (String) getSessionBean1().getMySessionRemoteM15().getResultObject();
    staticText1.setText(name);
    } catch (Exception e) {error(e.toString());}
    return null;
    }

    Thanx 4 responding Antonio, here comes what u hopefully required.
    Mary

  • No response from Sun Application Server PE 8.2

    Hi all,
    I am using Sun Application Server PE 8.2 on windows XP service pack 2 professional edition, and jdk 1.4.1_01.
    The problem I am facing is that the server is not responding, even though it is listening at the respective ports(4848 for admin, 8080 for http..etc) as I can see 'netstat' command.
    I have checked the server logs and it shows the following output :-
    [#|2006-08-23T13:38:13.890+0530|WARNING|sun-appserver-pe8.2|javax.enterprise.tools.launcher|_ThreadID=10;|LAUNCHER005:Spaces in your PATH have been detected. The PATH must be consistently formated (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\bin; ) or the Appserver may not be able to start and/or stop.  Mixed quoted spaces in your PATH can cause problems, so the launcher will remove all double quotes before invoking the process. The most reliable solution would be to remove all spaces from your path before starting the Appservers components.  |#]
