SUNIDM Form and JSP

Hi,
How an association is made between a form and a JSP in SUN IDM?
eg("Tabbed User form" linked to "account/modify.jsp).
Do we always have to attach a form to an existing JSP provided by Sun, or can custom JSPs be built and included in the idm.war?
Please help.
Thanks

The problem is that both pages are loaded @ the same time so when the getParameter gets executed the parameters are null and this is the probable cause of your error. Another problem is the action in form will cause the bottom to go into tops frame and not have anything to do with the other frame. If you want data to go from one frame to another while the user still sees them look @ DHTML, JavaScript and IFrames.

  • FORM and JSP in the same page

    Hello All
    Is it possible to pass variable from a html textbox to a JSP? but they both are in the same page.
    For this purpose, I have a created a index.html, which contain two frames, top.html and bottom.jsp. There is a textbox in the top.html, it collects 2 variables and use form action "POST" to call bottom.jsp to display a graph.
    However after I run this page on Tomcat, it gave me error message in the bottom.html:
    The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
    Can anyone teach me how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot
    Viola

    (FRAME) bottom.jsp
    String apple = request.getParameter("apple");
    String orange = request.getParameter("orange");
    use those two variables to do something
    and display a graph

  • Invoking Forms from JSP and Vice versa

    Hi,
    I am in to a requirement like invoking a screen developed using Oracle Forms 6i from JSP and vice versa.
    1. Could you please anybody help to get the documents to be refered to get more idea on this?
    2. Is it possible only by Oracle ADF?
    Please help me on this.
    Thanks & Regards
    M Thiyagarajan

    Hi All,
    Thanks a lot for the clarifications.
    Actually, integration should happen between forms and JSP. Parameters need to be passed to and forth. I will go through the specified link.
    Also could you please clarify me where exactly, ADF comes into picture? or what are all the advantages when we go for ADF?
    Thanks & Regards

    I'd like to go back to tha calling Form from the JSP.
    How can I construct the URL that would lead me back to the same Form and Forms session where the JSP was called from?
    Thanks,

  • Problem sending form with fmt:message key=" " / tag system and jsp code

    I have developt my new web page using jsp. I have done a booking form, please se below here. There are two pages, bookings.jsp and booking_sent.jsp. The page has 6 different languages so i have also used the <fmt:message key=" " /> tag system for each language.
    The problem i have is when i send the form it opens a page where you only see all the tags, no text at all. For more information follow this link and try out the form;
    http://www.neptunediving.com/neptune/general/bookings.jsp/
    When you fill out the form and click send you should come to booking_sent and you do but the page is only full of tags, no text. Booking_sent looks exactly the same as bookings, except the header so why should not this work. I have tried everything but i cannot solve this problem. So i wonder if there is anybody out there who can help me with this?

  • Can we call a workflow form a JSP and/or form a Java Class?

    Is it possible to call a workflow form a JSP and/or form a Java Class?

    Below is some xpress code I wrote once, used to dynamically lauch workflows from within a workflow. Since it basically uses java classes, you reuse these in your java program or jsp:
    - create a new generic object
    - call the setId, put, ... methods on it
    - set the input variables for the workflow by putting them into the generic object
    - call the checkinView method on a LighthouseContext object which launches your workflow.
    If all you need is starting a workflow from a jsp, you might also want to take a look at the tasks/taskLaunch.jsp jsp. This is an out of the box jsp which allows launching of tasks. If I remember correctly you have to give an url parameter which specificies the name of task you want to start: tasks/taskLaunch.jsp?id=<workflow-name>

    bookings.jsp and booking_sent.jsp looks exactly the same, except the header text. There most be some sort of conflict here, either with the <fmt:message key=" " /> tag system or maybe with the String message i use to retrieve the information from the form. Both <fmt:message key=" " /> tag system and the String message use the word message so i have tried to change the String message to String msg instead but i still get the same result.
    I have tried everything but i cannot solve this problem. So i wonder if there is anybody out there who can help me with this?

  • Forms and validations - here's some of my ideas, what are yours?

    One of the big things still missing from the JFX space (especially where JEE is concerned) is forms and form validations. Maybe you guys have been luckier but at least 80% of the screens I've had to build in my career have been boring old forms - enter data in the fields, validate them and hit submit.
    So, I've been hacking around on this to try and get a pattern and hopefully some reusable classes for doing this in JavaFX. I have something that works but the code is verbose and less than elegant. I'm hoping some of you guys might want to kick around some ideas on this with me here. If we can come up with something that works, I'd like to either include it in [url http://www.zenjava.com/jfx-flow/]JFX Flow, or put it out as a separate open source project (whichever makes more sense).
    What I think needs to be supported:
    * Map between a normal Java bean and the fields on a form
    * Validate the data, i.e. specifying the constraints on a field and then checking those constraints
    * Show a validation summary at the top of the form
    * Highlight individual fields if they have validation errors
    * Support auto-validation, i.e. the validation highlights and messages will instantly update as the user types
    Some extra restrictions:
    * The data input will ideally be a normal bean and so it won't have observable values on it. In most projects I use, the beans are coming from the server and sometimes may be shared between desktop client and a jsp/web client, or even be a third party API so they can't be changed. End result: we don't want any JFX complexities or dependencies in our server code (design leak). This rule could be bent but only as a last resort.
    * The validations must be defined relative to the normal data bean not a JFX model or controller, etc. This is so the bean can be validated on the server as well as the client. The server must do validation to prevent dodgy data getting in (never trust a client). Ideally we don't want to be specifying the validations in two places (i.e. once for the client and once for the server) as this creates maintenance problems and weakens the integrity of the system over time.
    * Ideally the validation mechanism will be based on [url http://java.dzone.com/articles/bean-validation-and-jsr-303]JSR 303 - Bean Validations as this is quite nice. This is flexible however if there is a suitable alternative that integrates better.
    To give us something to reference in conversation, I've created a small working sample. This is only meant to be a rough starting point (at best) and I'd really like to get feedback on both the code (i.e. should we have a 'presentation model', how could bindings be better used, etc) and the general way I'm representing errors (i.e. should we use tooltips to show errors, or actually show the errors next to the field, should we use border colours or put a little exclamation mark over the field, should the fields be auto-validated or only validated on submit, etc).
    The example is a single form for editing a person. It has three fields, first name, last name and gender. When the form is blank, auto-editing is off. When the user submits the form it is validated and from that point on auto-validating is on. Error fields are highlighted with a style change, and a tooltip is added with details (I think we can do better - what's your ideas?).
    I have used all plain Java to keep thngs simple, but I'd be looking for the end result to translate to FXML as well. I've also coded everything into the one class but the eventual goal would be to have the common stuff moved out to reusable base classes, etc.
    Here's a workspace with some example code in it: http://code.google.com/p/jfxee/source/browse/trunk/jfxforms/
    Here's a running deploy of that code: http://zenjava.com/demo/form/forms.html
    (edit: I've moved the code to its own project and changed the url for the launch - the values above are the new, correct ones)
    Looking forward to hearing some thoughts on this topic.

    At Devoxx I did some straw man prototype that you might find useful (or hopeless, I'm not sure which, I did it in a hurry :-)). I followed some principles that I was influenced by years back by JGoodies, but I haven't looked at the JGoodies stuff in forever and know it isn't all the same. But anyway, like I said, I'm not sure it is actually useful but maybe there is something genius hidden in there.
    I have a Validator, which is just a simple SAM:
    import javafx.scene.control.Control;
    * @author Richard
    public interface Validator<C extends Control> {
        public ValidationResult validate(C control);
    }The idea is that it is given a Control, it will validate that control, and then return a ValidationResult. ValidationResult is actually only needed in cases of errors, since returning null indicates success, so the following is somewhat of a crock but you could rename it ValidationError or something and remove the "SUCCESS" type and there you are.
    public class ValidationResult {
        public enum Type { ERROR, WARNING, SUCCESS }
        private final String message;
        private final Type type;
        public ValidationResult(String message, Type type) {
            this.message = message;
            this.type = type;
        public final String getMessage() {
            return message;
        public final Type getType() {
            return type;
        }For good measure I threw in a ValidationEvent.
    import javafx.event.Event;
    import javafx.event.EventType;
    * @author Richard
    public class ValidationEvent extends Event {
        public static final EventType<ValidationEvent> ANY =
                new EventType<ValidationEvent>(Event.ANY, "VALIDATION");
        private final ValidationResult result;
        public ValidationEvent(ValidationResult result) {
            super(ANY);
            this.result = result;
        public final ValidationResult getResult() { return result; }
    }Because Control's don't presently have the notion of validation built in, I created a ValidationPane which is like a specialized StackPane, where there is a bottom layer, the control, and a glass pane layer. And from CSS you can style it however you like. The ValidationPane has a CSS style class set in case of errors / warnings. So without augmenting controls, the idea is that a ValidationPane subclass would exist to wrap each type of control you needed to validate. It did this because somebody has to wire up the listeners to the control to react on text input etc, and so I thought I'd like that encapsulated in something reusable, and there it was.

        public TextInputValidatorPane(C field) {
            this();
            setContent(field);
    }This should also be usable as is from FXML since you can easily wrap a TextInputValidatorPane around a TextField, and CSS does all the styling, so I think it all just works. You probably need to have some library of sophisticated Validators which know how to read text from a TextField and compare against the validation annotations, but otherwise it should work well enough. Anyway, in the actual implementation I think I would omit the ValidationPane stuff completely and just build that part into the controls / skins. Like I said, this was a quick hack but seemed to get the "how do I visualize validation errors" part of the problem solved.

  • How to create a form with jsp

    I want to create an HTML form using jsp.
    It has a couple of selection boxes. The options for the selection box needs to be read from a file.
    As I understand it can create the form in HTML. And somhow uses jsp to read a file on the server get, the data and create selection box. I can have a class on the server side that does the actual read - forexample
    SelData.class.
    Would appreciate it if some one can outline how this is done.
    - thanks

    * Pass the data used to populate the select options to the JSP page in the form of a bean.
    * In the JSP page, iterate through the bean, using the data to "fill in" the attributes and body of the option tag.
    This tutorial should help a great deal with these concepts: http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.1/tutorial/doc/JSPIntro.html#wp69778

  • J2ME And JSP...

    Hi there Experts...
    i am new to J2ME and i need to connect my MIDP forms to jsp..
    i dont have any idea about that. Is it possible to pass values those been selected by an user from mobile device to the jsp and again answer from jsp to he mobile device..?
    Please help me out...
    Agam

    Hi,
    Here is the example of HttpConnection Class
    HttpConnection conn = (HttpConnection)Connector.open("http://www.yourdomain.com/mypage.jsp");
    InputStream is = new InputStream(conn.openInputStream());and now you can read is as you want and extract data from it.
    is can also contain XML data and then you can use XML parsers to extract data.
    Now it you wanna send any parameter using querystring then you should write like this
    HttpConnection conn = (HttpConnection)Connector.open("http://www.yourdomain.com/mypage.jsp?fname=rohan&lname=chandane");
    InputStream is = new InputStream(conn.openInputStream());Regards,

  • Problem in Frame and JSP

    hi all,
    i built an web application and now i want to add a menu using frame in HTML or javascript. The problem is all my JSP pages are data dependant from one another that means sometimes i am sending the data using input boxes and sometimes using HIDDEN values in HTML. Now i tried this followig way to use frame and to send my data to other pages but it is not working can anyone please help me.
    "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHETHER I CAN USE FRAME IN THE JSP PAGE OR NOT"
    LOGIN.HTML
    <form action="startframe.html" method="post">
    <center><h2>Employee Number:</h2></center>
    <center><input type="text" name="emplno" maxlength="4"size="4"></center></br>
    <center><h2>Password:</h2></center>
    <center><input type="password" name="pass" maxlength="6" size="6"></center></br>
    <center><input type="submit" value="SUBMIT YOUR INFO"></center>
    </form>
    </body>
    </html> DATA are GOING FROM LOGIN.HTML TO VARIFYLOGIN.JSP
    Now in between these two i used an HTML file to place a frame so that i can use the frame and the code is:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE> </TITLE>
    <frameset cols="15%,85%">>
    <frame name="frame1" src="buttons.html">
    <frame name="frame2" src="varifylogin.jsp?emplno=<%=emplno%> &pass=<%=pass%>" >
    </frameset>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    </BODY>

  • Problems with Forms and character encoding

    I'm having problems trying to read unicode data inputted into a Form on my JSP page.
    I've used the meta tag <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/> to set the charset of the page to UTF-8. I've inputted some chinese characters inot my form and when I try to read the subsequent request parameter in my servlet using request.getParameter() the string returned is this
    "&#26469;&#28304;" which is the escape sequence required by HTML to display these characters.
    From what I've read on the subject this doesn't seem like the expected value. I've tried other ways of getting the correct string value such as setting the character encoding request.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8") and then converting the bytes using this encoding value but it doesn't seem to work.
    I could write a method to split up the string using the ; as a token and working out the correct unicode character but this doesn't seem like the right thing to do.
    Any help on how to pass the correct information from the Form in the JSP page to the servlet would be greatly appreciated

    I don't believe that is correct, but if it's returning HTML escapes instead of URL Encoded characters, then it's the browser doing it. This is my test page for playing with Chinese...

  • SOAP XML Response in the form of JSP

    Hi,
    I am using a command in Websphere Commerce(WC) as "WebServices Provider " .For new users command is WC specific java program which takes input and throws back the result to the calling program.
    when a client sends a SOAP xml request to WC WebService Command,it sends back the SOAP XML response in the form of JSP to client.The Client is in Microsoft .Net language.
    My Question is:
    1)How the client is interpreting the SOAP XML response in JSP.
    2)Since the client being a .Net provider,to understand this response,he has to make any extra
    configuration ???
    Can somebody in the forum can help me in this regard.
    Thanks
    Mike

  • Java code and jsp interaction

    Hi,
    How does one interact between java code and jsp page.That is, if the java code does say database connection, the web page should tell that the connection has been made,just like an application but this will work on the web server not in the console.Kindly let me know.
    As

    Just curious but where do these questions come from? A course you are taking or you are building something for a hobby?
    If you are building some small simple web-app it's probably quicker to embed code right onto your JSP page.
    There are various levels of abstracting your web-app separating display from logic from the model.
    The following are techniques from simple web-apps to more complicated ones.
    -Embedding script right into your JSP
    -Using beans
    -Using custom tags ( I think there are some standard ones now, struts seems to be a popular buzzword)
    -Including a servlet to handle your requests redirect, update bean content grab info form your database and forward to a JSP. (Read up on model 2 architecture.)
    To include as much detail as possible would be to write a book. Fortunately many have so I don't have to fit one in this tiny reply box.
    Hope that was somewhat useful.

    Just what to you mean? The Info pane for the iPod in iTunes allows you to sync the iPod contacts and calendar with other calendars and contacts. There is no contacts or calendar in iTunes.
