Suppress the column without hiding Total or Sum

Hi,
In my worksheet i have created Total for One column, But i want to suppress that column without hiding Total. Please help me ASAP.
Thank You,
Vikra,

It is not clear what you mean by "a range of rows" ... how is that range going to be defined?
Create a simple table:
CREATE TABLE t (...
Insert some sample data into it:
INSERT INTO t VALUES (...
Then give us a sample of the output you want.
But sure to read the FAQ and learn how to use tags for your listing so we can read it.
Then we can help you.

  • Suppress the column

    Hi All,
    This is urgent,,
Can I Suppress the Country_Region, Country_Subregion columns.. I've sorted the report based on the Country_Name column(Grain level to this report)...
Note: Suppress Option not working in that case If I remove the sorting it is  working fine.
Please let me know the solution if any and reason for it.. Thanks in Advance.

As soon as you sort the value suppression gets dropped. That's standard behaviour.

  • Discoverer plus  report does not sum up the column

    Hi All,
I am running the discoverer report from discoverer plus (web version) and was
trying to use the sum function to sum the total amount of the report.
The sum function does not work and it only display Cell
Sum: (blank) with no actual data.
When i checked the report details some columns are calculated based on the columns which i want to sum up.
My query uses CASE function to calculate one of the columns.
I changed the aggregation behavior setting to "Show the sum of the calculated values from the contributing cells "
then also i'm not able see the totals.
Any ideas please share with me.
    Thanks in advance,

Hard to answer your question without seeing what you are trying to do. Issues like this are often better reported to Oracle support, where they can get a web sesison going and be able to see what you see on your computer. Would be helpful to illustrate exactly what your detail looks like and how you are trying to create your sum. There could be several possible issues that could cause your problem, so all I can do is speculate some. Are you trying to sum one column, or are you creating multiple totals (for multiple columns)? Do you have any rows in the column with a NULL value? NULL values will be a problem when trying to sum up a column. You would need to convert the NUll value to something else, probably a zero. That would be the first thing I would look at. Hope that helps a little bit.

  • Discoverer  report does not sum up the column

    Hi All,
I am running the discoverer report from discoverer desktop and was
trying to use the sum function to sum the total amount of the report.
The sum function does not work and it only display Cell
Sum: (blank) with no actual data.
When i checked the report details some columns are calculated based on the columns which i want to sum up.

    b) What is the difference between sum and cell sum? Well, I certainly won't claim to be a Discoverer guru. From what little I have seen, the practical result is not any difference really between the two. SUM of a calculated row is adding up the calculation to the total. Whereas cell sum is like adding up the individual values behind the calculation you see. The distinction makes more sense when you have SUM DISTINCT and CELL SUM DISTINCT being involved. Then you will see a difference in the calculated total. But for SUM and CELL SUM itself, I have not seen any difference between the two, but I am still pretty new to Discoverer.
    e) Aggregate field from a folder. Well, this may be one where you have to play around with your own data to understand. Let me try to give you a simple example. Let's say you have a sales table with 100 rows. You have sales data for 5 cities, and each city has 20 rows of sales history. If you pick Sales Dollars Detail and City Name for your workbook and run, you will get 100 rows in your result (complete detail listing). So that is what happens with no aggregation. Now, instead of doing Sales Dollars Detail, you pick Sales Dollars Sum (the same thing as saying SUM(Sales Dollars) in an SQL statement). Run the workbook. You will now get 5 rows of data, instead of 100 rows of data. You will get one row for each city. If you look at the SQL that Discoverer generates, you will see that it has now done a GROUP BY in the SQL statement. Notice I have not said anything about DISTINCT (just trying to keep things simple).
Now, lets say you do a workbook for City, Part Number, and Sales Dollars Sum. Run the workbook. You get a summarized result (say maybe 10 rows of summary data this time). If you look at the Discoverer SQL, the GROUP BY is now by city and part number, automatically doing that because you picked the SUM version of sales dollars.
Now lets say you add Sales Units Detail to the workbook. Discoverer will give you a warning message that you are have both an aggregate and a non-aggregate and that you may end up with unpredictable results. Run the workbook. You will be back to 100 rows, because you specified sales units in detail.
Most of the time I do not want to see detail rows in a workbook. So most of the time I am picking the SUM aggregate for an amount item.
Hope this explains things a bit. Sounds like maybe you need to take the Discoverer Create Queries and Reports class. Would help you understand these things better. Good luck.

  • How can I display all the columns on the screen without scrolling from side to side?

My clinic software has many columns. How can I display all the columns without having to scroll from left to right all the time?

If the software you are using doesn't offer the ability to increase or decrease document size, as many do, then the only way is to increase your screen resolution. If that's not possible, maybe you can decrease your font size?  If you can't do any of these, I think you're out of luck!

    Hi ,
GO to pivot view and you can find column option like (no Total) click this option we can find none, before,After options.
You can apply after option in you pivot column.
I am not sure this is what your looking so far.

    Hi  SDGNOM,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to export  list to Excel with all columns in your SharePoint.
For the SharePoint RPC protocol method, SharePoint export to excel will take the list id as well as the view id. So we cannot export list to Excel with all the columns without having to depend on the fields
    chosen in the default view.

For a workaround, you can achieve your demand via PowerShell. Here is a  template you can refer to:
    Param(
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
    [string]$webUrl,
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
    [string]$outPath
    $web = Get-SPWeb $webUrl
    write-host ("Path: " + $outPath)
    foreach($list in $web.Lists)
    $exportlist = $null
    $exportlist = @()
    $list.Items | foreach {
    $hash = $null
    $hash = @{}
    foreach($fld in $_.Fields ){
    Try {
    $hash.add($fld.Title, $_[$fld.Title])
    Catch [System.Management.Automation.MethodInvocationException]
    # Eating an error caused by duplicate column names.
    Finally
    #"End"
    write-host ("Exported: " + $_.Title)
    $obj = New-Object PSObject -Property $hash #@{
    $exportlist += $obj
    $expath = $outPath + '\' + $list.Title + '.csv'
    $exportlist | Export-Csv -path $expath #$oPath

  • Need to use Group By but only want to group some of the columns not all

Hello all! I am having some issues here. I am rather new to SQL and I am getting stuck with grouping. I have the query below but I only want to group by these columns, instead of all the columns in my select statement.

In reports builder you can group the columns without having to group it in your query. It is also known as the break report which contains multiple groups in its data model.

  • How do I unsort a column (without doing undo)

There are a few things in Numbers that I used to do in Excel, but can't figure out in Numbers. I need to sort a large table of data, add some more data based upon the sort, then unsort the column without undoing the added data. Can anybody help me?  You'd think there would be a simple "unsort" option, but I'm not seeing it.

    VJ,
There should be a warning that pops up when you choose the Sort option. It should say: "Do you know how you plan to get back to this order?"
Sometimes it's simple, like sorting a column of dates, or last names. When there is no logical column to use for recovering a desired order, then you must provide one yourself expressly for this purpose.

  • How to get the sum in appropriate column without a red triangle appearing?

    Hello,
In 'Numbers" - How do get columns to add (calculate) the sum in each decending column on an Expense Report.
When I highlight the decending column the total appears on the far left of the screen.  When I drag the sum amount from there to the appropriate column a red triangle with an ! appears instead of the amount.
    Thanks for your immediate help.

The red triangle is an Error triangle. Clicking it will display the error message and tell you what error has occurred. From your description, my assumption is that you dragged the SUM() function from the quick calculations at the lower left and dropped it intto a cell in the column being summed.
If that's the case, this is likely the error message you would see:
When you highlighted the 'decending column,' you likely selected all of the cells in that column, including the one into which you dropped the function.
Instead, do one of the following. These assume the column you want to sum is column B.
If you want the sum at the top of the column:
Make sure the row you want the sum to appear in is a Header row.
Enter this formula into any Header Row cell in column B:   =SUM(B)
If you want the sum at the bottom of the column:
Add a Footer row to the table. (Go Table (menu) > Footer Rows > 1).
Enter this formula into the Footer Row cell in column B:   =SUM(B)
SUM (and other functions) that expect a range of cells will interpret a cell reference entered using only the column letter (B) as meaning 'all of the non-header, non-footer cells in column B', and will exclude those cells in header or footer rows.
