SWF file animation problem - CS4

Hi,
I've been trying to inset this specific AS2 swf file (accordion.swf) into captivate CS4 and the animation does not seem to work after publication. I was wondering if anyone out there with their vast experience can help me with this and will be deeply grateful for your help.
This animation is similar to an Accordion animation in that when the learner hovers their mouse over the titles (Fixed, Mobile, etc..), the rest of the panels collapse and only the panel of interest, displayed.

I'm mystified how you got it to work by just changing the setting to AS3 in Cp4.
I tried the same but I just get a blank screen, and rightly so because the file is written in actionscript AS2. So the actionscript syntax evidently is not AS3.
If the syntax of the original FLA file is not AS3, how can it work in Cp4 with the AS3 setting, or in Cp5 which does not run AS2 anyway?
Try clicking on the accordion.swf file with the ziop file at the location below. Hover you mouse over the titles of the panels and they slide as intended. But inserting the same into a cp4 file stops it working.

PPT swf file upload problem. Image is massive

I am having a problem putting my PPT swf file into my meeting room. I used iSpring to convert it into the swf file and the converted file opens in flashplayer perfectly with the navigation bar at the bottom. When I load it into my meeting room, it's huge and won't fit into the room properly. I can't seem to resize it to get it all in the share pod at the same time. Even if I make the share pod tiny, it still only show about 2/3 of a tiny presentation.
Any help you could offer would be appreciated. A different program to convert? A different way of getting it into the meeting room? I am on day two of this and it is making my head hurt.

It sounds like a caching problem.
Try disabling caching in your JSP and also in your internet browser.

Dynamic swf file into dreamweaver cs4

Good evening to all,
Can a basic slide show created in Flash cs4 using as2 to load the images dynamically be inserted into a Dreamweaver cs4 page ?
The swf file shows up but I can't figure out where to put the linking images so the 2 basic "next" and "previous" buttons work ?

When you load the swf file into the html page, that becomes the swf's reference for loading files. So if your structure has a folder containing the html file and another folder for the flash file and another folder for the images, as in...
main_folder...
     - html file
     - flash folder
          - - flash file
     - images folder
          - - image files
then you need to change where the swf file is looking for the images because when it is in the html page, that is essentially the folder it is trying to get the images to load thru.
For instance, if you originally tested using Flash with the swf file targeting the images using...
"../images/imagefile.jpg"
(or something like that... those dots confuse me at times)
and the structure is as I described, then when testing in the html file the targeting would need to be changed to...
"images/imagefile.jpg"
Just think of the swf file as living in the html file's folder as far as targeting any files it needs to load, because once it is loaded into that page, it has basically moved to that new location.

Swf file playback problems but not in IE, Chrome or Opera

Anybody have any ideas on FF not playing the swf file uploaded when it works fine in the other browsers? It sits spinning as if uploading forever. This was the case with version 3.6 then I upgraded to 4.0 and the same. I have updated the flash player to the latest also and still the same.

External SWF file load problem

I'm loading external SWF file which has motion tween.After
the loading progress bar finished to load than calls SWF file.If I
test the movie locally works fine but when simulate the download it
seems it jumps end of the timeline.Is anyone could tell me why is
this??

Could you tell me what I am missing in my files?????
I am missing my Top Banner and the .swf file in Dreamweaver? I can see it in the source files but that's it.
I have supporting files from my Flash-Slideshow-Maker, but can only see my flashshow if I embed the file from SkyAlbum.com (Album# 247097) which is very slow to load.
Have I not loaded all the files for it or something?

I decided to embed the skyalbum code, but the banner files are still missing? ACE said it was a poor path, but now that I deleted it why won't my top banner images work now-on either page?

Swf file playing problem in limited user in XP

can anyone help me how to fix this roblem?.... when i try to

(XP os) it is not playing! and when i change my user to

Hi AxshunJaxun. Have done a bit more testing & web searching and found that I can rename My Documents but not Application Data. Looks like Application Data has some sort of special status in XP and it's the opsys doing the renaming of both copy & source. Since I can keep multiple copies of My Documents and can live with having to make multiple copies of individual Apps. under Application Data I'll go with that. Thanks for your help.

Problem with swf file on website

I created a swf file with flash CS4. I can do the publish
preview and the video plays just fine. I can even view the
generated html file on my local machine and it works. I upload to
my website and it does not work. Here is the link

The player skin is acting like it cant find the swf file but
it is in the same directory. Also, when i go to the publish
settings for the html I select the "Paused at start" but the video
plays when I load the local html file in my browser. Any ideas or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it's a permission problem, but somehow the
Flash Player thinks (I think) the stream is coming from another
domain. With me a error pops up that goes like this:

Have you tried a super-simple <object>-style embed of
your video?
I really do think it's the Adobe-AC-JS-stuff that's messing
things up?
You could instead consider using swfobject

How to I make my animated vector images better quality when exporting to a SWF file?

I created an interactive PDF and SWF file. My animation only works on the SWF file, but the vector image is low res. On the PDF it doesn't animate (which I know,) but it's high res. However, the SWF file animated, but looks low res. Thoughts?

Changing text to an image should never be considered since there is no content for the SEO spiders and the images will slow your page download time to a crawl.

The above method uses an HTML snippet and, since this is fairly cumbersome, is only suitable for adding features like special headings. It does allow you to add text shadow using CSS rather than all these wasteful PNG images.
To use hosted fonts on a whole site you would need to add CSS styles in the head of the HTML doc for every page of your site. But its not low tech and, if you could do this, you wouldn't be using iWeb!

How to add a preloader bar to a swf file made in InDesign?

I have created a swf file in InDesign CS4 and now that I added the swf to my website, it takes a little bit to download, but the problem is that it doesn't show a downloading progress or anything.
How can I changes this either in InDesign or using preloader for the swf file so people don't leave my pages thinking there is nothing to see.
I'm not familiar with preloaders or actionscript.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

so for now, i have to work on the cs4.

MORE - Why can't the exe of my project access the external swf files?

Since this does not seem to have been answered the I'll raise it again!
I have created 12 training modules and one menu module - see attached diagram.
I need to deliver the training modules on cd/dvd to the students.
I wish to create a player that the students can use that will open the menu and allow them to select the lesson they wish to view from that menu.
I wish to have this happen in a stand alone player as we have experienced erratic playback issues when trying to use this same method via a web browser.
I have created a single slide module executable that launches the menu, then from the menu each of the other modules are to open in the same window as the menu and be viewable by the student. Once the module has completed the student should be returned to the menu screen to pick the next learning module, again this all happens in one window.
Currently this is not working. I have used Rollover slidelets as the buttons and the action available(Open another project) leads me to believe what I wish to do is easily possible from within Captivate.
It's not working, I get no errors so I can "debug". The executable and all swfs are in the same directory and should open with no problems - but again they are not and without any error tracking I have no idea why.
What I am trying to do is SIMPLE and should be - yet I have wasted more than 8 hours trying to make it happen.
The above scenario has been possible in Director and Flash for more than 10 years. Being new to Captivate this seems completely possible from the options available.
Captivate Aggregator is not a solution as it has too few customizable options for a fluid and non-confusing user experience.
I tried to create a simple player in Flash, however then the TOC in each Captivate created .swf file cause problems when used.
Anyone have any answers to this????

Actually the option to open another project is precisely what you would use when linking EXE files in the manner I suggest.
It has always worked for me but then again, I've not tested using Captivate 6 so I suppose it might have become broken.
As for having dozens of files, there is actually a way to structure links so that you store certain content in folders that they would have to navigate to. I'm guessing here that you are thinking if all files are at the root level of the CD, it would be difficult to determine which is the "menu" file.
There is also a way to use a freeware application that fools the computer into thinking files are being accessed from a web server. The application is called Server2Go and I've recommended it to others for deploying on CD. That way everything could be SWF based (smaller files).

CPU/Memory Usage increases when loading SWF files in AIR.

We face the below mentioned problem. Would be great if someone could help us.
Due to problems with uploading the attachment here, please send a email to the following email-id ([email protected]) and I shall send the attachment in response.
CPU/Memory usage increases drastically while moving the SWC components and loading the SWF Files.
"Problem Description" - On executing the sample application, a window with multiple objects is shown. The loaded SWC components in flex consume too much Memory and CPU cycles. This is visible in TaskManager. On dragging one of the object, CPU / memory usage increases drastically.
"Steps to Reproduce" -
Draggable window is placed at the bottom in the sample application with Text indication.
Drag the indicated window.
"Actual Result" - System's CPU usage increasing drastically around 50% to 60 %.
"Expected Result" - Drastical increase in memory\CPU should not occur.
"Any Workarounds" - No"

Thanks, but I use publish/export settings with GPU hardware acceleration and flash version 11.2 (and 11.8) but nothing happening.
And why gif file is not all transparenty then I insert on lightblue background? It can't export good quality? Also I use Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Edge Animate. And nothing happening. Having problems when exporting .swf file as an animated gif

Hi:
I was wondering if anyone has ever had any issues exporting a
flash file as an animated gif? When I do so, the image quality is
very compromised and the animation is distorted. I know this is not
very specific question, but I have never encountered this issue
before, and I am trying to help a co-worker. I don't understand why
it looks exactly the way we want it to look as an swf file, but not
as an animated gif? Can anyone point me in the right direction as
to what to look for as the potential source of this problem? I have
the swf file, although this would not be very helpful as I don't
have access to the flash file (but I can send it to you if that
would help). We tried unchecking the feature to optimize the image,
and changed the color pallete to adaptive, but this didn't solve
the problem. I also tried removing any unnecessary layers prior to
the export. Basically, I'm not sure as to how to proceed and what
may be causing the problem. I also want to mention there is a
placed image on the stage. Could the type of image placed be
causing the problem when exporting to a gif file, but not as a
.swf? If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

I also wanted to mention that the swf file uses sound. I am
reading an old book that I have on Flash and it's saying that Flash
and Shockwave Flash enter a special mode when they encounter a
stream sound in which the animation is forced to keep up with the
sound track, if the animation frames can not be drawn quickly
enough, some frames are skipped. I am also reading that the
animated gif format does not support sound. Again, the only
reference I have is for a very old version of flash, and I'm not
sure it applies to CS3. I am now just thinking that the sound may
be the issue.
