SWF files won't display in Firefox 2.0

Apologies in advance if this already has been covered.
Couldn't find it via the search tool, and am desperately on a
deadline:
Using Flash 8, I created a very simple presentation. I
embedded the SWF file in the HTML page. It works fine in IE, but I
just get a blank, white box in Netscape and Firefox. Same goes for
all my other SWF files that I've created using Flash 8.
Two notes: I published the files as Flash 8 version, and I
have ensured that the Flash 8, or higher, version of the browser
player plugin is installed. I've also tried on machines inside, and
outside, of firewalls.
The problem page is at:
http://nabj.org.
Desperate to find a solution this morning.
Thanks in advance,
Ben

check your html:

the value:
value="

doesn't match the embed src:
embed src="nabjHome.swf"
try it with embed src="

A direct link to the site in question helps. Posting your code here isn't much help since the .swf file is stored on your server and can't be tested by the helpers here

  • SWF files won't play in Firefox

When opening SWF files from my computer, Firefox won't run the file, and instead opens a 'save' box so I can apparently re-save the file to my hard drive. This happens both when I drag and drop a file from Windows Explorer and also when I choose 'Open File' from the File menu in Firefox. This only started a few months ago and I haven't been able to find a working solution online.

When I Generate, the link points to file:///c:/users/...../www.[website
    address]file.swf
    <file:///c:\users\.....\www.%5bwebsite%20address%5dfile.swf> .  It's looking
for the file in the generated project, but it looks confused. J
I looked to see if I could import the files, but there doesn't seem to be
    any import for swf files.
Can I simply put them in the directory with the project files, and point the
    link that them there?
I don't want to publish to see what it's looking for when it's published,
since it's a client's site, and I don't want them to see something that
    isn't working.
    Thanks!

  • Some PSD files won't display in Bridge

Why is it that some PSD files won't display a visible thumbnail in Bridge?
    Don

I tried Curt Young's suggestion in the Bridge forum:
When in the folder with the problem click on Tools/cache/purge cache for folder xxx. The thumbnails will be then rebuild and see if that solves the problem. Let all the thumbs rebuild completely (spinning arrow on bottom left corner will stop) before carrying out any other operation. You may have a few corrupted files in the cache.
    It worked!

  • Wav files won't play in Firefox 22

Wav files won't play in Firefox 22. Previous versions of Firefox are fine. Other sound is fine. I have the latest mac OS X. Quicktime is set to play wav files. I have the latest version of it.
Is there a fix for this?
Is there any other plugins I can install which will play the wav files?

Thank you for your response Alice.
    I checked about:plugins and I DO have audio/wav and audio/x-wav. It it QuickTime 7.7.1 I have.
In Firefox Preferences Applications Panel I do not seem to have the iTunes.Document audio/x-wav there, only the audio/wav and Waveform Audio.
Re the New Email Notification feature with my Webmail, this is not activated via a Firefox extension. I don't really know how it works but when I'm logged into my Webmail email account and a new email arrives, a wav sound is played to alert me of the new email. This has always happened with all previous versions of Firefox, just not since I updated to Firefox 22 but when I go back to Firefox 21, it works again.
I have previously asked about this with my Webmail company. They knew nothing of this problem. I have now asked them for a second time now that I know that it is only THEIR wav sound that won't play. Other wav files play OK with Firefox 22.
I do not know what is at fault - Firefox 22, QuickTime or the Webmail site but for the past few days I have frequently switched between Firefox 22 and Firefox 21. Each time the New Email Notification wav sound works with Firefox 21 and doesn't with Firefox 22 so that makes me suspect that somehow Firefox 22 is at fault.
But it is a mystery and I might be stuck with it - unless it disappears as mysteriously as it arrived with a newer version of Firefox or maybe even a newer version of Quicktime.
Thank you to everybody who has tried to help me.

  • Swf. file won't load in file preview or webpage

I'm a Creative Cloud member that has created a one page website using Dreamweaver CS6.  I've uploaded all the files of my one page website to Business Catalyst to learn how to put a site on the web and manage it .   Included on my one page websight is a swf. file.  The swf. file appears in the file manager window of Business Catalyst, but won't open in the preview window on the file manager page of Business Catalyst.  I've made the site live, but  the swf. file won't open when the live site is openend in a browser on a computer other than the computer that holds the original files uploaded to Business Catalyst.  What am I doing wrong?

It would be best to post a link to a live test page online.
If you mean while being previewed in a browser, which one(s) are having the problem with?

  • Mov files don't display in firefox

mov files do not display in Firefox....what's the fix?

Apologies Old Toad, but you appear to have misread the issue. This issue refers to Audio mov files, not movies.
To recap: in iWeb when you drag an "Audio mov" file to a page it will not appear in Firefox, or Chrome, or IE. Note: we are a business so we build sites for final release versions only--FF5 is not business class code and can not be used for for customer projects.
Here's the relevant line of code that shows up in the Page Source screen after publishing what turns out to be a blank page (we created a simple blank Test page containing only 1 audio file in mov format created in QT Pro):
    <script type="text/javascript"><!--
    writeMovie1();
    --></script>
You can see by inspection that the writeMovie1(); command is within an ignore statement so the browser will not execute it. That is why the audio controls do not show and why the page is blank.
Here is a shot of the iWeb layout page:
In FF, Chrome, IE, the controls will not render because the command is being ignored by the browser--a bug in iWeb. In Safari, it  renders just fine but you will read in previous versions that Safari had the same issue. Hence, the "rigging" claim.
We'd appreciate your best shot at a resolution--and save the sarcasm...we can't do anything with that.

SWF Files do not work in Firefox. My sites work fine in Explore & Safari? Why is this? I have updated all my plugins, reinstalled yet still nothing?

    Can you post a link?
Does that only happen on that website or do you have that problem with all Flash content?
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Swf File doesn't display in chrome but displays in firefox

Hi there, I made a swf file and embed it in my website.
    URL: http://worldwidefilipinoalliance.com
It displays properly in the mozilla firefox but not in my google chrome.
Is this problem related to the browser or the way that I embeded my swf file.
Can you give me a tip on how to solve this.
    Thank you and regards!

Your embedding code appears to be minimal, as well as the old version, which could be the problem.  The more modern embedding code will use either swfobject or other javascript-based coding.  If you can get a hold of a newer version of Flash you should let Flash generate an html page and then copy and paste the embedding code from that into your html page.

  • Albums won't display in Firefox

I know this is kind of an old problem, but I can't seem to resolve it. I'm running iweb 2.0.4, and my photo galleries will not display in Firefox 3.
I tried downloading Fix iweb, but it won't recognize my software. It says "This patch will only run on version 2.0.3."
I'm not sure what else to do. I've republished the site after making minor tweaks, hoping that since i'm using 2.0.4, the problem will be fixed. But nothing. No pics.
    The site is sethraab.com
To view the section in question, visit "The Work" section and then click on the part that takes you to print/direct mail/posters/outdoor.
Any help would be SUPER appreciated. I really need this site functional again.
    Thank you so much.
    -S

What's the URL of your site and where are you hosting the site? iWeb 2 and Firefox did have problems but most were with the "enhancements" like frames, drop shadow and reflections.
When you republish the site try using the File-Publish Full site or whatever it's called. Don't use the publish changes option. Doing a full publish may jump start the albums.

  • Flash file won't display

Bear with me, I come from the GoLive world.
Have a site recently converted to DW. Made an update to the
home page that has a Flash file in it. DW asked me if I wanted to
update code to make it IE safe. Now file does not display in Mac
Safari or Firefox. Haven't turned on a Windows box yet to test
    there.
It displays in preview, but not live.
    http://www.starmilling.com
Flash file should be right above the Simplicity bag area.
Any idea what happened? DW is hard enough to figure out
    without having this.
If worse comes to worse, I can always copy the GL code for
that flash file back in, but was hoping to fix it without
    that.

If you had done what you needed to do from the start, you
    wouldn't have to
do this at all. I'm just saying....

  • IMac 2.66 Radeon HD 2600 Pro: some Excel files won't display in ppt decks

Running Leopard 10.5.8 and MS Office 2004
Two iMac (8.1) 2.66 GHz with ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro video won't display some Excel files in PowerPoint decks, but iMac 1.83 GHz Core Duo will display o.k. as will MacBook Pro, MacBook, etc. Installing a trial version of Office 2008, both iMac 2.66 GHz display the PowerPoint files o.k.
I could downgrade the users to Intel iMac 1.83 GHz, or buy two copies of Office 2008 and support them, neither of which is a great solution.
Looking for a simple fix or workaround on what seems to be a video card issue. Don't seem to see this problem or a fix on the ATI site. I've googled this but haven't run into a similar issue.

Well, Office 2008 is only $110 USD at http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-2008-Home-Student/dp/B000X86ZAS/ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1251560959&sr=8-1
That seems the least expensive solution to me.

  • [SOLVED] SWF files are not working in Firefox 5.0.1. When visiting websites with 'zoom' on photos Forefox asks how to handle rather than just going to zoom

On previous versions of Firefox I was able to use the 'zoom' feature on photos at retail websites. This no longer works. (You can go to Territory Ahead as an example). Firefox asks what to do with the SWF file. There is no option to use Shockwave (I think this is a Shockwave file). Thanks for your help. Warren

Ooops. Never mind. I recently upgraded other programs and I no longer had the Shockwave player installed in my system. Reinstalled it and all if well.

This is a magazine on the web and prior issues have loaded in firefox using the same code but not the pages with sound.
I hope someone can help.  I have no problems in internet explorer.  I am having problems with apple also.  I figured if I got firefox working then apple would work.  again in prior issues, we could see the pages in apple.
