SWF & FLV doens't show video on IE for OSX

I built this website www.999rose.ca and it works fine on
firefox and IE for PCs but when I use my mac running OS X and IE
(mac version) it doesn't show the client interview videos on the
bottom right. You can hear them, and sometimes when I navigate
around, when I leave the video page I can see the video as I leave.
It's like the backgound image of grass is superimposing over the
video somehow. Also, if I try pressing the back link I have on the
video page and try another video, it shuts down IE and shows an
error message. I don't know if this is an HTML or Flash issue but I
would appreciate some help or advice.
Also, while I'm here, an HTML issue with Safari is that my
iframe isn't showing the contect of the site. I need to fix that
too but I'll post that on an HTML forum for help.

Is no one able to help with this?

  • SWF/FLV files show white/black bars on sides of frame

I have a recurring issue of bars showing up on the left and right side of my swf/flv frames.  The good news is the video plays on our site.  The bad news is the bars show up on some of the flash files (like on testimonials.html) and not on others (like wedding.html), even though I perceive I'm copying in the same code.

    Hi
1st. I like many other will not download a zip file, can you post a link to the site?
It may be if you are using the same code but only changing the swf/flv file name, that the swf/flv's are smaller than the size specified in your object code - width="600" height="366".
If the swf/flv's size is smaller then the player will be the size specified, but your swf/flv will be centralized inside the player, (unless otherwise specified) resulting in the white/black bars.

  • Correct size for swf/FLV video files in Presenter 7?

    HI,
I'm trying to use Presenter with some screen capture and
other video an I cant seem to get the video to show up at the
correct size. If the video is scaled for screen capture it looks
really bad. I can build new resources or export to any type or
video/swf or FLV but I don't seem to be able to control how to get
this to work once in comes into presenter. Real video is OK as that
    scales well.

Personally, I record in Camtasia at 800x600, then have it
resize to 640x480. When I import that file into PowerPoint, it has
a huge white border around it, and I have to resize the video until
    there's no white border left.
It's still quite large on the screen, and the fact that
PowerPoint / Presenter seem to resample/rescale the video seems to
lower the quality some, which is why I often use heavy zoom effects
    within Camtasia.
I've tried using Captivate for creating the videos, but
honestly, it's faster and provides a better end result if I'm using
Camtasia. What software are you using?

  • .swf to .flv  using Flash 8 Video Encoder

I have brought a .swf file in to Flash 8 Video Encoder to
convert to a .flv file, after Queue is completed the .flv file
doubles in size. I tried changing the "key frame placement" and
"Date rate" to bring the file down but the .flv file doesn't go
down that much. So what am I missing? I want a .swf 8,166 KB to be
a .flv about half that size, is this possible? If so, am I using
    the wrong program?
    vicky

well that's the thing - the metadata never traces out if the
video was encoded with flash video encoder, but that code would
work fine with video encoded with sorenson squeeze.
think I have worked it out now though: in order to pause the
video at start I am calling NetStream.seek(0) when I receive
    "NetStream.play.start".
For some reason when I do this with flvs encoded using flash
video encoder, it stops the onMetaData event from firing - but
works fine with other flvs! weird... shall have to find another way
of pausing the video at the start I guess.
    thanks for the reply though

  • How can I turn off auto play of an swf/flv using actionscript?

Does anyone know how to turn off autoplay, using actionscript, of swf/flv?
I'm trying to showcase four videos on the same page of a website. each video is a generic media player created in flash. when i test the movie, all the videos start playing at once.
Also, if possible is there a way to have all four videos in the same media player?

the media player has an autoPlay property.
and yes, it also has a contentPath property.

Why can't I seem to come up with a solution to convert any rpoducts of .cp project file or a published .swf or .f4v to a video format (other than .swf or .f4v)???

    This is me calm.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks for the quick reply but I omitted to mention that I am not trying to maintain interactivity in this particular video.
I simply grabbed screen shots from an iPhone app and added mouse clicks and paths to the images for what I thought would've been an effortless, quick video.
With this clarification I hope somone has a recommedation on converting either a(.swf) or (.f4v) or (.flv) into a format that is accepted by iMovie?

  • Cannot associate media file types .swf .flv with Adobe Flash media player

I have been trying to associate these media types ( .swf .flv ) with Adobe Flash media player (9.0.124 latest from Adobe site) but cannot see the program in the list (looked under Adobe, Flash, Macromedia, Common etc) after loading. I have repeated the process, rebooted, and no luck.
Any ideas why a new program should not show in the Programs list ?

Thanks, I'm curious to find out what's different. I've repair disk permissions again using the one in Disk Utility instead of Cocktail with not luck As far as I can tell, all my issues seem to be occurring solely on www.adultswim.com and is sill happening with Camino, Firefox, Safari, and SWF & FLV Player. I'll keep checking other sites to see if the problem manifests itself elsewhere and I'll post any other changes I make to my system that might appear to help.

  • AVI, SWF, FLV and issues with Captivate

    Hello,
This is my first post here. But I have been searching so some
time to find the answer to my issue. The closest thing I have found
    was this
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=67&catid=464&threadid =1290481&highlight_key=y&keyword1=convert
Post but the issue was not really resolved the user just
reconverted the file (which you will see in the post why this is
    not working for me)
So without further delay here is my issue.
I am creating a training video. The video will open with a
live action scene. This video is or will be about 2 minutes long. I
have been testing Captivate because I read that it will import
AVI’s. That being said every time I import an AVI I get the
    error message.
"This AVI file cannot be converted to a Adobe Flash File.
Conversion aborted."(You can see why the above post sparked my
    interest)
The AVI has been rendered from Sony’s Video Vegas
(mighty fine editing software if I might say). I have rendered it
using multiple codec’s. When I try and import the video into
Captivate I am creating a new slide at the beginning of the project
and then trying to add the AVI as an animation, this when I receive
    the error.
After reading on line that other users were having similar
issues I decided to try and convert the video to SWF or FLV. The
converter I chose was “super” converter (really I found
this on my own and was not copying it from the post)
Now my issue is the following. With SWF files, it imports
fine and when I play the video in the time line the video looks
fine and I can see the video play. But when I try and preview the
project the will not play and I cannot move the “time line
bar” the only option I have is to close window.
With and the FLV files the following happens. I can import
the FLV as a flash video and it appears in the slide but it is
“grayed out” when I try and view the video in the
Timeline for the slide I cannot see anything.
    So after a lengthy 1st post what I really want to know is;
    1) Is there something special that I need to do to get
AVI’s to import? Is there a special codec or something I need
to do when I render the video?
    2) SWF files working in the time line but not in the final
    project o the project preview.
    3) Is there a “preferred” converter that people
are using to convert files from AVI to SWF
    Thanks for your time
    Michael M

    Hi Michael,
I haven't tried AVI or SWF videos, but I've used several FLV
videos (though I had someone else convert them for me, so I can't
help you there). The main problem I've had have to do with where
the files are stored so that Captivate can correctly access the
files and play them back. Also, if you use a skin in the Flash
video, when you publish the file, make sure that the skin .SWF file
is published. If you are using Captivate 2 and happen to use the
corona skin, you need to change the "C" in CoronaSkin3.swf (for
example) to a lowercase "c", or else the published video won't play
at all (just gray - like I think you're describing). I've got some
2+ minute FLV files that play fine though once we got everything
squared away. Let me know if you have any questions about what I
described above (which doesn't have a whole lot of video cause I'm
a little short of time at the moment).
    Good luck,
    David

  • Published .app won't show video controls

I'm including a video with it's controls into a frame in flash.
When I try it and publish it as SWF the control bar of the video shows
but when I publish it as a .app for mac or a .exe for windows and run it
the video shows but not the controls
I'm using the FLVPlayBack component to show the video

The controls for the FLVPlayback component are stored as a separate SWF.  This SWF needs to go along with the .app/.exe/.swf wherever it goes in order to display.

  • Show Video downloading

    I have a large Flash Video file (84 minutes - 225MB) that I
need to upload to my site. The download time is 10-15 seconds or
longer before it plays. The window looks blank in the meantime, so
I'm losing viewers. Is there anyway to show the video is
downloading, or another workaround, not to lose visitors?
    Page - www.telestorypictures.com/lia1.html

    .
    quote:
The movie is already in flash format so the file is not going
to be much smaller if you reencode it using lower settings. The
only thing you will be able to see by using a skin from Flash is
    that it's downloading.
With a file this large, the video is going to studder and
stop as it plays the first time, even for users with broadband
connections (anything over 30mb can produce this). Forget about
users on dial up. You would be much better off dividing it into
sections - and there will be a lot less fustration for the viewer.
The only alternative is using a streaming service.
Sorry didn't make clear...I didn't mean to reencode the Flv
but the original video...make it a smaller flv... at 320kb/sec it
won't matter how big the whole movie is it will only download a
small amount of data at a time....and by using the other controls
in flash it may be possible to make it a smaller - both physically
    and in file size...
and you can control how much downloads before it starts
playing...as I said I do it this way and I have done many video
files @ 20mb+ that work fine......separate movies is another
option...but either way anyone still on dial-up cannot
complain....IMO video content should only be intended for broadband
    users.

  • How do you get your iMac to show video (or mirroring) with Apple Tv...please help!

I have searched this forum, read the articles here and on Google and I still can't figure this out. Perhaps what I'm wanting isn't possible.
All I want to do is watch my CBS show from www.cbs.com on Apple Tv via my iMac. The Apple TV moniker is next to the volume in iTunes, and I can play music through Apple Tv via I-tunes and have it play on my TV. Thus, I know it is connected and working. I thought I could do a mirror screen like I do with the iPad, but for the life of me I can't find anyone who has covered the subject online.
Can someone tell me, step-by-step, how to show video from my iMac onto my Apple TV. Thanks so much!
    Confused in the Lou

If the specs you included about your iMac model are correct, it will not support AirPlay mirroring. See About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support for more about this, including the list of supported models & required OS X versions.

I'm flummoxed. Both MacBook Pro and Mac QuadPro are now Lion.
I can get Daily Show videos to play on the Macbook pro, but not on the MacPro, and I hardly know where to start diagnosing the problem. I've tried to compare configurations w/ FireFox, but I don't see the discrepancy, if there is one.
I used to be able to see the video on (shows up as a solid black rectangle) the desktop in 10.5.8, then I think disappeared in snow leopard, 10.6.nn, and has remained so in 10.7.1

Try Lion forum and even Safari. Lion pulled PowerPC/Rosetta code support.
