Swing Tables

Hi ,
I have two Swing Tables. I selected a row in one table. Now i want to select the same index row of another table.Please tell me how to do.It's urgent.

Could you please give some brief notes to implementIts one line of code that has already been given to you. There is nothing to implement. At least if I understand the question there is nothing to implement.
If you don't like the 1 line of code suggestion, then feel free to implement your own ListSelectionListener. You can read the Swing tutorial on [How to Write a List Selection Listener|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/TOC.html]
If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
Don't forget to use the [Code Formatting Tags|http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting], so the posted code retains its original formatting.

  • How to make the diagonal line in the swing table cell?

    Hi all,
    How to make the diagonal line in the swing table cell just like the link below?
    http://61.132.17.188/webber/table.gif

    One improvement.. To get a line that is neat, use a bit of Graphics2D
        public void paintComponent(java.awt.Graphics g)
            int w = getSize().width;
            int h = getSize().height;
            // draw a line between (0,0) and (w,h)
            g.setColor(getForeground());
            if (strTop == null)
                strTop = "  ";
            if (strBottom == null)
                strBottom = "  ";
                java.awt.Graphics2D g2 = (java.awt.Graphics2D)g;
              g2.setRenderingHint(java.awt.RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,java.awt.RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
              //g2.setStroke(new java.awt.BasicStroke(14.0f));
            g.drawLine(0, 0, w, h);
            //the following lines will draw the two strings,
            //one above the top of the line and the above below it.
            g2.drawString(strTop, (w/2)+2, (h/2)-2);
            g2.drawString(strBottom, 2, (h / 2) + 2);
            //the x,y for drawString are only based on assumption.   //do necessary changes to suit ur needs.
        }Then create a TableCellRenderer and set it to the Table Header for ur table's 1st row.....
    Cheers

  • Swing table & database

    i have a swing table which i intend to invoke it from my jsp page; however, the data modification
    will be carefully monitorered and should be recorded into the database. i.e.,
    the table has emp_id, fname, lname and phone; if anything changes in the table, how could i catch
    it and write a dynamic sql statement update(or insert) into the database? say, i was hoping that
    there will be a "Submit" button on the swing table which could allow user press the button and then
    send the last modified record and commit the transaction.
    Thx.

    Based on JSP forum, I got response from one of the replier that I shouldn't use JSP to handle any
    swing table??? He told me JSP is not meant for this purpose and I should not combine this two?
    if what you said is true, how could I catch the modification in a JSP page as I may (POST/GET)
    later on press the submit button to commit the change into database? Could I treat this swing as
    a Servlet? Tkx.

  • Problem: Printing Swing Tables

    I am creating an application that is displaying data using Swing tables. It is a requirement that I am able to print these tables to a printer, as well as displaying to screen. Can anyone help me?!

    There's a basic getPrintable() method in JTable which, if all you want is the table with a page header and or footer, pretty much does the job for you.
    There are also various print methods which attempt to automate the job even more.
    These are useful only if the table is all you want to print, but they might get the job done for you.

  • Hi change of selections in swings table rows..

    hi,
    i have created table using swings..jtable..
    it contains 3 colums and 16 rows..in first column a field called property..
    i have taken Table column in first column and inserted a combo box which contains 15 values..
    when user clicks on first columns rows it shows that combo box for selection..then user can select a value from that..now i want if user select value from combo box then in second column it should show the corresponding values for selection..
    like in first row.. second row..
    empno---null,not null,like
    empname---like,eqaul,
    empdate --less than,greaet than etcc..
    this is what i want..
    if he selects avalue from combo box of first columns it should show corresponding values in second column's row..
    it should show for all 16 rows..
    in second coumn also same as table column and combo box with that values(null,not null etc)
    my question will be bit confusing..
    give me solutions with sample code for above req..
    regards,
    sam

    the approach is similar to that used in "filtering" the table contents.
    sub the tablemodel and use two vectors to manage the reflected data...
    Vector a = inital data in unchanged state.
    Vector b = table data which can be set using the current row selection and the data in vector a. (data store)
    Thus the flow would be:
    i)process selection event.
    ii)apply selection rule against Vector a
    iii)set/change data in Vector b using data from Vector a
    firetableDataChanged()this triggers a refresh of displayed data.
    not strictly necessary to use Vectors but helpful if you need ti Iterate...

  • Swing table and JScrollPane

    I am using JTable with JScrollPane. JScrollPane is set with the scroll bar policy set to AS-NEEDED. But still when my table columns go beyond the table or View Port Horizontal Scroll bar of the ScrollPane does not appear.
    I also tried the ALWAYS policy for Scroll Pane . But still horizontal pane remains disabled.
    Pls suggest some solution.

    Set the autoresize mode of the table to off.
    setAutoResizeMode (JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_OFF)

  • SWING Table Headers

    Hi
    I've created a table which is embedded within a panel (because it is in a tab)..
    Anyway the problem I have is that I can't change the font on the table headings. I can change the font in the properties tab, but it doesn't reflect the changes in the table.
    Any suggestions!!
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Mouse

    Hi..Thanks for your reply
    I can't accually access the code because it is blocked. Ive dragged the GUI components off the tool bar and change the properties via the properties tab.
    I believe the way to change the font is by clicking on tableHeader and inserting some 'user code' but my coding isn't every good, so unsure as to what to put in.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Swing: when trying to get the values from a JTable inside an event handler

    Hi,
    I am trying to write a graphical interface to compute the Gauss Elimination procedure for solving linear systems. The class for computing the output of a linear system already works fine on console mode, but I am fighting a little bit to make it work with Swing.
    I put two buttons (plus labels) and a JTextField . The buttons have the following role:
    One of them gets the value from the JTextField and it will be used to the system dimension. The other should compute the solution. I also added a JTable so that the user can type the values in the screen.
    So whenever the user hits the button Dimensiona the program should retrieve the values from the table cells and pass them to a 2D Array. However, the program throws a NullPointerException when I try to
    do it. I have put the code for copying this Matrix inside a method and I call it from the inner class event handler.
    I would thank you very much for the help.

    First things first. Next time please use the code formating tags when posting your code.
    Secondly, we cant help you do your entire project or more specifically we cant do it for you. We can probably help you with one section at a time.
    Thirdly, do not post your entire code. Create a Short, Self Contained, Compilable Example (SSCCE) that demonstrates the problem section, and that is independent of any third party libraries and can compiled instantly and tested.
    Now, lets see if we can answer one problem here.
    Ques 1. In the form I have one JComboBox of Country and other of State. Now I want it in such a way that whenI select a country from the Country JComboBox ,the corresponding states automatically appears in the State JComboBox.
    Ans 1: Use an ItemListener or an ActionListener (javax.swing.event) for this. Once an item is selected, the event will be fired and then you populate your ComboBox with the requried data.
    Ques 2. I need to add picture frame in the 6th tab so that the picture shows up when clicked browse and open.
    Ans 2: You haven't created the JButton for the browse action, nor have you created the JLabel to show the picture in. Create the JButton, then the JLabel, attach an ActionListener to the button to listen for the button click, open a JFileChooser, select the image file, create an ImageIcon and pass the File object returned to it. Then call the JLabel.setIcon( the ImageIcon) to display the picture. You'll have to store the picture File information some where so can reference it when saving.
    Ques 3.I need to add tables in 1st and 5th tab which shows up the details through database when added through several textboxes and combo boxes.
    You need to do some reading. The Swing Tutorial has everything you need, from How to use Tables to How to connect to databases. There are also some examples in your JDK installation folder, ie, jdk/demos/jfc/tableExample. Here is the link to the swing tutorial on how to use Tables: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html. You find other useful links there.

  • Using a button and a textfield in the same cell of a table

    I have been struggling with this problem for ages, please someone help...
    I am trying to implement a table similar to NetBeans property sheet editor where you have a textfield and a button with "..." in the same table cell. The button is used to invoke a custom editor.
    I have most things working, custom renderers, custom editors and such.
    However, the focus interactions on the table seem completely screwed. Clicking in the editor causes the cell to switch to editing mode as expected. Pressing cursor down or tab, which should close the editor and move focus to the next cell down does not work - the editor closes but the focus disappears to a completely different component elsewhere on my GUI.
    My textfield and button are on a JPanel, and I return that JPanel when getTableCellEditorComponent is called.
    If I switch out the JPanel and instead return the textfield, the focus works as normal.
    I've even looked at the NetBeans source but I can't work out what their trick is.
    Any tips would be gratefully received.
    TIA.

    Thanks for your time, Jeanette...
    Here is a bare-bones example of the problem I'm having. I'm running on JDK1.4 and JDK1.3.1_02.
    I've tried some tricks (hacks) with getNextFocusableComponent and requestDefautFocus and such but with no success.
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.table.*;
    * This example shows a keyboard/focus navigation problem when using a JPanel
    * as a table cell editor. The JPanel contains a textfield and a button.
    * Click in the editor to invoke it, and tab-off (or press cursor down). The
    * edit ends, but the focus disappears rather than moving to the next cell in
    * the table.
    * Change the line that returns the panel to return a text field instead, and
    * all is well.

  • Why table getWidth and setWidth is not working when resize column the table

    hi all,
    i want to know why the setWidth is not working in the following code,
    try to uncomment the code in columnMarginChanged method and run it wont resize the table.
    i cont set width(using setWidth) of the other table column using getWidth of the main table column.
    and i want to resize the right side columns only (you can check when you resize the any column the left and right side columns also resizing)
    any suggestions could be helpful.

    hi,
    thanks for your replay,
    yes i know that, you can check the following code it works fine.
    actually what i want is, when i resize table column it shold not automaticaly reszie when table resized and i dont want horizontal scroll bar, meaning that all table columns should resize with in the table size(say width 300)
    if i make table autoresize off than horizontal scroll bar will appear and the other columns moved and i want scroll to view other columns.
    please suggest me some way doing it, i tried with doLayout() no help,
    doLayout() method only can be used when table resizes. first off all i want to restrict table resizing with in the limited size

  • Store value in data model without showing it in table

    Hi,
    How can I store something in my table model without showing it in my table? I have an arraylist which contains a list of my own data objects. I have my own table model like
    public class MyTableModel extends AbstractTableModel {
                  public Object getValueAt(int row, int col) {
                   TableDataObject tdo  = (TableDataObject) data.get(row);
                   switch(col) {
                        case 0:
                             return tdo.getFoo();
                                     default:
                                             break;
    }my "hidden" value is stored in the data list...but I have to get the hidden value from my table model, not from my arraylist.

    Nothing to it, but to do it:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.table.*;
    public class ColumnModelExample {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Object[] columnNames = {"hidden", "column 1", "column 2"};
            Object[][] rowData = {
                {"hidden 0","row 0, col 1","row 0, col 2"},
                {"hidden 1","row 1, col 1","row 1, col 2"},
            TableModel model = new DefaultTableModel(rowData, columnNames);
            JTable table = new JTable(model);
            TableColumnModel columnModel = table.getColumnModel();
            columnModel.removeColumn(columnModel.getColumn(0));
            JFrame f = new JFrame("ColumnModelExample");
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(table));
            f.pack();
            f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
            f.setVisible(true);
    }One typical use of this is for displaying the records of a database table, where you don't want to
    show the user a sequence column which would only confuse the user...

  • Swings-JFrame

    IN my program ,JFrame,JButton1 named VIEW ALL ,JComboBox ,JButton2 by clicking this calender will be displayed select the date ,that selected date will come into JComboBox,JButton3 named BY DATE.
    when click on VIEW ALL button data from the database(oracle 10g) will be retrieved into JTable, that table will be displayed in same JFrame.
    If we click on BY DATE button data will be displayed by that date only in the same JFrame.
    view is like this:
