Synchronous XI Scenario in Real Time

Hi,
We are having a scenario in which PDA devices would communicate to SAP systems through XI. PDA devicves would send a request and SAP responds back. This is a Synchronous scenario.
The interface is designed for operating personnel in warehouse who use PDAs for goods receipts. The volume of messages would be quite high and expected response would be fast and in real time.
We have defined PDA <-> XI Web Service <-> RFC at SAP end as the possible option for such interface.
XI gurus, kindly suggest if there could be any performance considerations in such a scenario.
Thanks,
Bhavish

Sync scenario always perform worse that an async scenario. But there r cases where sync scenario cant be avoided. Like in ur case where a response at sender is required.
U can have a control on the timeout parameters in case any message is failed at XI. The number of retries and their interval can be edited according to requirements
The XI hardware config ll largely affect the performance

Prateek

  • Real Time Communication

    HI Gurus,
Can any one tell me what is  REAL TIME COMMUNICATION.
Also I request information / details on RTCIS.
    Regards
    Ajoy

    Hi Ajoy,
1.1 Application Scenarios for Real Time Communications
There are two classes of applications: client and server. Client class applications have one real-time client per computer, such as the traditional instant messenger (IM) application. Server class applications typically act on behalf of multiple users or communicate with many hundreds of users simultaneously. Server class applications are often based around intelligent applications that interact with users. These applications can be divided into two categories: notification Apps that send information to a client and interactive Apps that accept and respond to a client. A third type of server class applications, Web-based clients, interacts with users through a Web server.
    1.2 Notification Applications
Notification Apps are real-time applications that send information to multiple clients from a centralized server (see Figure 1). The one-way transmission means that clients cannot communicate directly with the notification App. Instead, clients must choose which events they wish to receive by using some other technique, such as a Web application.
One example of a notification App is an application that notifies all of the users of a particular e-mail server that the server is about to go offline. Another useful notification App would send alerts in cases of severe weather.
    1.3 Interactive Apps
Interactive Apps are applications that allow multiple clients to communicate with a central server in real-time, as Figure 2 shows. They are different from notification bots in that interactive bots support two-way communications with a client. Using this approach, you can build an application that interacts with users in real-time. Within this scenario, there are two main sub-scenarios. The first provides a user with information and waits for the user to respond, such as an application that notifies users about changes in stock prices and then gives the user the option to buy or sell. The second waits for the user to request a session with the App and then responds to requests that the user supplies, such as a calendar application that allows a user to schedule meetings and other events while receiving reminders just prior to the meeting or event.
    1.4 Web-Based Clients
Web-based clients provide the same basic functionality as the traditional IM client through a Web interface, thus allowing the widest possible audience to use the application, as Figure 3 illustrates. It also has the side effect of eliminating the need for a user to download local software, which reduces user concerns about the download containing a potential virus. These types of clients are useful to organizations that wish to provide a Web-based front end to their internal IM system. For example, a company might wish to use a Web-based IM client to connect customers with a support group. Doing so maximizes the number of customers that can connect with the support group.
    Real Time Communications Data Flow
It's critical that organizations planning large deployments of real-time communications applications ensure that those applications can scale to meet the desired goals. The RTC Client API is very efficient for client class applications for which each client runs on its own computer. To build a scalable RTC Client API application that services multiple clients with a single computer, you need to ensure that the application is scalable when you design it.
The Real-time Communications (RTC) Client API is a set of COM interfaces and methods designed to create PC-PC, PC-phone, phone-phone audio/video calls, or text-only Instant Messaging (IM) sessions over the Internet. Application sharing and whiteboard (An application that displays a window for two users to exchange information) can also be added to PC-PC sessions. Presence information is used to track the location of buddies (or contacts) for communication purposes. This information is available through the RTC Client API on a SIP registrar server.
    The RTC Client API:
    1.Supports multiparty phone-phone calls
2.Uses SIP-based signaling and presence communications
3.Integrates with the Microsoft Office RTC proxy and registrar server
4.Supports provisioning with ITSPs or third-party corporate-deployed servers
5.Integrates signals over IP and PSTN networks
I hope this will be useful for you.
    Thanks,
    Swamy Kunche

  • XI real time scenarios practice

    Hello XI gurus,
Are there any XI exercises available to prepare myself for real time scenarios?
I understand that SAP training material includes exercises. But other that material (for people who do not have that material), are any other options available?
If I can get XI system access, what are the basic topics/areas that I need to practice to survive the first few months as XI developer?
    Thank you very much.

  • BAdI........How are they used in the real time scenario.

Im a rookie in ABAP development and i was wondering that how we use the BAdI enhancement technique in the real time scenarios. Like do we get create them or we have few already built BAdI's which we work on? Can any body please explain how this works.

    Hi Ramana,
Business add-ins are enhancements to the standard version of the system.
Business Add-In is a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects.
They can be inserted into the SAP system based on specific user requirements.
    Each Business Add-In has:
    • at least one Business Add-In definition
    • a Business Add-In interface
    • a Business Add-In class that implements the interface
In order to enhance a program, a Business Add-In must first be defined
Subsequently two classes are automatically generated:
    • An interface with ‘IF_EX_’ inserted between the first and second characters of the BADI name.
    • An adapter class with ‘CL_EX_’ inserted between the first and second characters of the BADI name.
The Application developer creates an interface for this Add-In.
There are multiple ways of searching for BADI.
    • Finding BADI Using CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE
    • Finding BADI Using SQL Trace (TCODE-ST05).
    • Finding BADI Using Repository Information System (TCODE- SE84).
    1. Go to the Transaction, for which we want to find the BADI, take the example of Transaction VD02. Click on System->Status. Double click on the program name. Once inside the program search for ‘CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE’.
Make sure the radio button “In main program” is checked. A list of all the programs with call to the BADI’s will be listed.
The export parameter ‘EXIT_NAME’ for the method GET_INSTANCE of class CL_EXITHANDLER will have the user exit assigned to it. The changing parameter ‘INSTANCE’ will have the interface assigned to it. Double click on the method to enter the source code.Definition of Instance would give you the Interface name.
    2. Start transaction ST05 (Performance Analysis).
    Set flag field "Buffer trace"
Remark: We need to trace also the buffer calls, because BADI database tables are buffered. (Especially view V_EXT_IMP and V_EXT_ACT)
Push the button "Activate Trace". Start transaction VA02 in a new GUI session. Go back to the Performance trace session.
    Push the button "Deactivate Trace".
    Push the button "Display Trace".
The popup screen "Set Restrictions for Displaying Trace" appears.
Now, filter the trace on Objects:
    • V_EXT_IMP
    • V_EXT_ACT
Push button "Multiple selections" button behind field Objects
    Fill: V_EXT_IMP and V_EXT_ACT
All the interface class names of view V_EXT_IMP start with IF_EX_. This is the standard SAP prefix for BADI class interfaces. The BADI name is after the IF_EX_.
So the BADI name of IF_EX_CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA is CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA
    3. Go to “Maintain Transaction” (TCODE- SE93).
Enter the Transaction VD02 for which you want to find BADI.
Click on the Display push buttons.
Get the Package Name. (Package VS in this case)
    Go to TCode: SE84->Enhancements->Business Add-inns->Definition
Enter the Package Name and Execute.
Here you get a list of all the Enhancement BADI’s for the given package MB.

  • Real time bpm business scenarios

<b>could some one please clearly explain me real time business scenarios where BPM(XI) implemented, this would help me a lot for my interview preparation</b>.
    i really appreciate any help

    Hi Vijay,
BPM is mainly used in senarios where extra functionalities are to be done with the source message which cannot be done using the normal mapping and user-defined functions, like
->Collecting of messages till a certain count or for a specific criteria.
    ->Merging messages
    ->Spliting messages
->Processing of error files and sending to specific location and sending alerts.
->Parallel processing of two criterias at the same time can also be done using BPM.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Jesse.

  • Real time scenarios...

hello ther ....i am simi .. iam new to sdn...i have my interview in sem bps..in a couple of days time..iam through with the theoritical bit ...my concerns are related to the questions that may arise about project scenarios....would be much obliged if someone could help me thru by providing some real time planning scenarios ....or may be some help with the tech specs,,.....thanx....favour will be returned....
    regards,
    simi..

I have mentioned couple of real time scenario I know.
    [1] Down payment :
When PO gets created and vendor asks for some portion of PO as an advance payment, accounts payable department creates down payment request for the purchase order using F-47 and enters PO number in it.automatic payment program pays for the down payment request made.
<b>When automatic payment program makes payment, PO gets updated with Down payment amount, and purchasing department gets visibility against that PO and knows that certain amopunt has been paid as an advance payment.</b>
When Goods is received and invoice is entered using MIRO for that PO accounts payable department gets notification that down payment exists towards  PO.
and they clear down payment made for the PO againt the invoice.
    [2] AR/AP netting :
Some times in business some customers are also vendors.
SAP has given the functionality to set the Customer as a vendor scenario.
it requires two settings in customer-vendor master record.
For customer who is also vendor, cendor master record is created , in control tab customer number is entered in vendor master, same time in customer master record in control tab vendor number is entered for that customer.
Check clear agaist customer-vendor in both master record.
when payment is made to this vendor/customer another master record gets updated automatically.
    Assign points if helpful

  • Need SD,MM  real time scenarios

hi everyone, Plz help me with SD real time scenarios with examples..
    regards,
    prashanth

Business scenario that has to be mapped by you (SD consultant) -
Company / client is a TV manufacturing company which sells TVs and provides TV repair sevices.
    1.  Sales orders for both (TV selling & services) must be done in one sales document type
    2. Delivery type must be set up ONLY for TV selling (as services do not need any delivery of goods!)
    3. For easy identification - bills should have different number ranges. For selling TV bill # must range from 1 to 1000, and for TV services from 90001 to 90099
    4. TV selling must be delivery related bill, TV service must be order related bill
How shall you configure this in SAP SD? What are the important questions you will ask the client, for more information?
Once you have attempted this we can go a step further (in to more functionalities)

  • Real time scenarios - interview questions

    Hi there,
Here are some questions which are real time based. If you could answer that will be very helpful.
    1. Archivelog destination gets filling up and it is now 98%. I have more transactions at this time. DB is going to crash or hang in another 2 minutes? what is the step to be followed here?
    2. First day you are taking up archivelog backup? next day morning you find some archivelogs missing? will RMAN show some logs are missing or it will take up backup when you give backup archive log command?
3.During RMAN backup of database, if your destination drive (mount point) found corrupted, how do you mount the new mount point with the same name as the corrupted mount point in another server , if no catalog database or with catalog db?
4.While at a peak time, where there is a huge transactions takesplace, you just happended to find PMON died ? will there be transactions happen after PMON's crash or database will go crash after finishing up all the transactions? Will database do instance recovery after bouncing up db after such a scenario?
    5. You are issuing sqlplus username/password@connstring. what is actually happening at the background in db after you give that sqlplus command?
For this question my answer was oracle is creating a session for that particular user process. is this right?
6.If a user is telling you that i could not connect to the database? what should be checked here?
    Thanks,
    Balu.

    1. Archivelog destination gets filling up and it is now 98%. I have more transactions at this time. DB is going to crash or hang in another 2 minutes? what is the step to be followed here? You can move old archive to other mount point. (Be careful moving will increase server load). Then take those archive backup and delete.
    2. First day you are taking up archivelog backup? next day morning you find some archivelogs missing? will RMAN show some logs are missing or it will take up backup when you give backup archive log command?I m not sure
3.During RMAN backup of database, if your destination drive (mount point) found corrupted, how do you mount the new mount point with the same name as the corrupted mount point in another server , if no catalog database or with catalog db?You can ask OS teams to create another mount point in the same server for your backup and reconfigure the rman. You can configure the catalog of database in another server but you cannot configure rman backup destination to another server till 10g ( I dont know about 11g) meance your backup can be configured only to your target db server.
4.While at a peak time, where there is a huge transactions takesplace, you just happended to find PMON died ? will there be transactions happen after PMON's crash or database will go crash after finishing up all the transactions? Will database do instance recovery after bouncing up db after such a scenario? If your PMON killed your entire process will go die within few sec but if your current online redo is present, oracle will do instance recovery on next startup
    5. You are issuing sqlplus username/password@connstring. what is actually happening at the background in db after you give that sqlplus command? For this question my answer was oracle is creating a session for that particular user process. is this right?
if you use @connecting string meance with the help of your tnsnames.ora file user process will resolving the service name. Based on the informations , it will go to the server and check the port mentioned, where listner is linstening.. if the listner is running and if he registerd with the same instance which you are requesting for, you will asign with a server process (if it is a dedicated connection) ... afer that listner will go back to listen for another request.. then based on the username and password you provide, server process will allow you to get the informations from the database.
6.If a user is telling you that i could not connect to the database? what should be checked here?So many things based on the error messege, you can ask to the interveiwer what is the error is he/she getting?

Now as can be seen, EDI_DC40 is the header record common for the eniter idoc. But the segment E1WPA01 will repeat for each item sent from R/3. E1WPA01 in turn has many segments within it whcih corresponds to that one item.
Now the problem i am facing is, I did the mapping for all required fields from E1WPA01 to my file structure and it works fine if i send one 1 instance of E1WPA01. But when i send multiple instance of E1WPA01 for each item, my result in teh file should be 1 line of record for each E1WPA01. But this doesnt happen. It takes allE1WPA01 as 1 and gives only one record in the file.
How can this be overcome? this is a very common requirments? did i miss anything in the configuration?
    Thnaks,
    Yash

    Hi Matias,
I have two instances (may be much more than 2) of the same segment in the idoc (E1WPA01) and each instance should create a new root in the target message structure as in the link below
    Link: [http://img299.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image3ct6.png]
I have mapped the segment E1WPA01 with the root like this:
    Link: [http://img176.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image2of6.png]
Hence it creates 1 root for each segment. But for complex mappings such as:
    Link: [http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image1yu1.png]
the 2 input parameter to the UDF - KONDART and KONDWERT - the queue can be seen. the problem which i m facing here is in this queue, values from both the instnace of the segment E1WPA01 is taken together where each instance should be processed seperately. The first 4 values in the top queue(till VKP0) belongs to the filed KONDART of the 1st isntance of the segment and the 1st 4 values of the below queue (till 17) belongs to the field KONDWERT. Similarly the remaining belogns to the other segment. My logic in UDF is built taking only one instance at a time. Is there anyway i can distinguish between the two instance within my UDF?
I hope u understand my problem here.
    Thanks,
    Yash
