System call update

Hello,
I'd like to update system call CAL_CONVERT_DATE_TO_FDATE or programm new version by myself in case there is no update.
What I want in fact is recognize that certain day is a work day. This could be done by function module DATE_CONVERT_TO_FACTORYDATE which lead to mentioned system call.
This function module doesn't return our new holidays (for factory calendar 'CZ').
Where can I obtain some update? Or, how to program new version?
Concerning programming new version, I read help and found there notice about file sapactab.h, where should be system call noted. I can't find this file in filesystem and either source files and also don't know how to link compiled source files to SAP kernel.
Can anybody help me?
Best regards,
Josef Motl

Hi Josef,
In our system we have defined several custom calendars 'Z1' - 'Z6', all with their own definitions on holidays. The function module you mentioned works fine even for the custom defined calendars.
So are you sure the calendar CZ has been defined correctly?
Regards,
John.

  • Adding menu items and making system calls in AfterEffects (AE,CS3)

    We are looking to do the following things via javascript in AfterEffects CS3. It does seem straight-forward, but am unable to find a good reference or example.
    * Add at startup a menu item under "File" (or similar main menu) and have it call a script function when clicked.
    * Have a script make an external system call (to launch an external application/executable with a few parameters)
    Any insights on how to achieve this?
    Many thanks!

    I wanted to see if there was any update on this, I'm writing a series of tools and would love to create a custom menu for quick and easy access.
    If it turns out there isn't an "easy" way to do this (env variables, special directory locations, javascripts) would anyone know if access to the menubar is possible from the Plugin API?
    I'm fairly new to After Effects, just getting up-to-speed on the environment now... seeing if I can duplicate the functionality of some old Nuke scripts in AE.
    thanks,

  • C4180 error:the data area passed to a system call is too small

    C4180 Photosmart printer. Loaded official HP driver from the web site for this all in one.
    OS is windows 8.1 pro 32bit.
    After any print command , in my case a test print the following windows error.
    "The data area passed to a system call is too small".
    Removed driver and reinstalled, same problem.
    Anybody had the same problem, more to the point what is the cause.
    Thanks.

    Hi jongar47,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see when you attempt using a print command with your HP Photosmart C4180 you get a "The data area passed to a system call is too small" error. You have Windows 8.1, you updated the drivers for the PS C4180, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver with no success.
    I would like you to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
    Does the PSDR find any problems with the software and drivers, any conflicts?
    Please let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.
    Thank you,

            command[2] = "-d";
            command[3] = ":pserver:yourUserID@localhost:2402/path/of/yourProject"; //in this case using CVS port 2402
            command[4] = "login";
            System.out.println("exit value=" + e.sendDialogCMD(command));

            command[6] = "update";
            command[7] = "-dA";
            System.out.println("exit value=" + e.sendCMD(command));
    }It is possible to send the password on the same command, but I had problems when the password had the character '@' because CVSNT took it as the separator between the username and server name. In that case the command is: ":pserver:yourUserID:yourPassword@localhost:2402/path/of/yourProject"

  • Bad System call. Macbook pro wont start up

    Hello,
    I seem to have come across a problem. I thought it happened after trying to install new software through X11. I restarted my macbook pro and received about 15 error messages all containing information about certain extensions not being installed properly. I remember one being about my 802.11 airport but I havnt altered anything to do with it.
    When I turned my macbook off and on again I got a black screen with info about about bad system calls, throttling too quickly etc..
    I noticed a number of people mentioning the i tunes update which I tried to install before it completely died and it wouldnt actually finish the update so i just force quit software updates. Now my machine doesnt do a thing: when I turn it on I receive the apple symbol with the spinning cog and eventually it goes back to the black screen with the bad system info.
    I started in single user and tried fsck - fy and it said everything was ok. I tried to start in safe mode however when I turn my macbook pro on I dont hear the chime- therefore I dont seem to be able to enter safe mode.
    If anybody can help ASAP it would be much appreciated- got lots of work that needs doing on it:)
    cheers

  • Correct Forum? CGI and Server behaviour on Solaris at system()-call

    Hi to you all,
    Do not know if i am in the correct forum, but maybe it is a Webserver problem.
    I have Sun ONE Webserver 6.1 running on Solaris.
    Craete some CGI`s in C.
    Now I have a problem with one CGI, which have to call a Shellscript via system() call.
    The Client just calls the CGI with some parameters, which will write the informations in a file with some additional informations from a database, after that, the script should be startet and do some printjobs in the background.
    The CGI and the Shell-script is working fine. My Problem is, that the system() call always waits, until the ShellScript has finished, so the Webserver send the "data successful written" site after a couple of minutes, it should send it immeditatly to the client, so the session is closed.
    I have tried to put the shellscript in background with "&", also with nohup and a second shell script which justs starts the first script, also with all combinations of nohup and "&" for background process.
    also i tried with "pclose(popen(SCRIPT,"W");" to call the script, it is always the same, the session will close only, when the script has been finished.
    In an other Forum I found an entry, that , however, IPlanet webserver always will do this in this way. The session will be closed, when all called processes has benn fisnished.
    Any Ideas to solve my problem?

    The web server reads from the CGI program's stdout. It knows the HTTP response is complete when the CGI program closes its stdout.
    When you call system(), the child process inherits the CGI program's stdout and keeps it open until it finishes. If you want the child process to run asynchronously from the HTTP response, you should give the child process a new stdout with > /dev/null. (You'll still need to place the child process in the background with &.) Alternatively, you can fork(), close(1), then exec().

  • Tracing what is happening in the connect() system call

    I've been playing around with some of the recipies in dtrace today trying to find out why it takes so long to connect from a linux machine to an ultra 5 running sendmail but I'm not having a lot of luck.
    The one thing I can find is that the amount of time for the connect system call to return takes a long time. Here's the dtrace script I wrote (borrowing from Bryan Cantrill's blog):
    bash-2.05b# cat functiontime.d
    #!/usr/sbin/dtrace -s
    #pragma D option flowindent
    syscall::connect:entry
    /execname == "sendmail"/
    self->start = vtimestamp;
    syscall:::entry,
    syscall:::return
    /self->start/
    trace(vtimestamp - self->start);
    syscall::connect:return
    /execname == "sendmail"/
    self->start = 0;
    exit(0);
    This is the output:
    bash-2.05b# ./functiontime.d
    dtrace: script './functiontime.d' matched 454 probes
    CPU FUNCTION
    0 => connect 0
    0 | connect:return 303079
    0 <= connect
    I know there are other syscalls going on from the time connect enters to the time it returns but I have no idea how to get them to print.
    Any ideas how I can make this script more useful to see exactly where sendmail is getting hung up?

    You might also try something like
    #!/usr/sbin/dtrace -s
    #pragma D option flowindent
    syscall::connect:entry
    /execname == "sendmail"/
            self->depth = 1;
            self->syscallstart = timestamp
    fbt:::entry
    /self->depth/
            self->start[self->depth] = timestamp;
            trace(self->start[self->depth++] - self->syscallstart);
    fbt:::return
    /self->depth/
            this->delta = timestamp - self->start[--self->depth];
            @func[probefunc] = quantize(this->delta);
            printf("delta is %d\n", this->delta);
            self->start[self->depth] = 0;
    syscall::connect:return
    /self->depth/
            exit(0);
    }This will give you the function call flow inside the kernel along with the following:
    - on function entry, a time delta since connect was called
    - on function exit, how long we spent in the function
    - on return from the connect system call, a list of histograms showing the call times for all functions called
    You are probably going to want to redirect the output as it gets big.
    Also note, I've written this to give the information only for the first call to connect.

    Hire Me.
    Hello Poster.
    I am having the same issue, however it is most likely NOT a host box problem. The above advice is not a fix. I have 3 servers that are cloned with the same setup. 2 were fixed by doing the Vista compatibility trick, this one gave a different error (which
    happened to be the same as above). This org was a 5.5 to 2000. to 2003 coexistence with 2007 currently(because the mailbox role won't install). It has something to do with AD or permissions. Server 2008 r2 inherently has problems installing exchange.
    Example, having to use vista compatibility to get the mailbox role to install. SP2 patch gives the same error to some people, and also doesn't upgrade the mailbox role properly in some cases. Some people have had luck restarting the IIS admin service, but
    that did not solve my copy of this error. I will repost here if I find a solution to this issue...
    Same exact setup log for me as well.

    Hello Mauricio.
    Thanks
    Two Thinks:
    1.- This error appears precisely in the process of creating SAP users including you mention sidadm:
          A.- Execute sapinst
          B.- Installation option is chosen
                SAP NetWeaver CE Production Edition
                        Installation Options
                            High-Availability System
                                  Central Service  Instance (SCS)
           c.- System ID, Next and appear message error
    2.- However, the user manually create sidadm, I gave the permissions you indicate, and the error message is the same
    Thanks

  • Making system calls in java

    I want to join some split files into one. In command prompt I use COPY /B file.1+file.2 file to join the files. How can i do the same in my java application. Please show the code which I suppose will use getRuntime. Thanks in advance.

    Well if there is a problem with system calls then can
    you tell me if there is a class in java for
    concetanating files. Not directly.
    At present I am joing the files
    by reading each byte from the files and writing them
    to another file which takes hell lot of time. You should read the files in large chunks. Much much faster.
    Thanks
    in advance again. Also if you say about sequential
    file class then please expalin a bit bcs I couldn't
    implement it.Post the code you are having trouble with explaining what it should do and what it actually does.

  • Unix system() system call in Java

    Hi,
    system() call in Unix is very helpfull when you need to implement a piece of code that is already implemented in an exsiting utility.
    Is there a way to achive a similar functionality?
    To put it in simpler words - is there a way, in Java, to call some method that will invoke a Unix shell and will execute the command specified in the string that is past in?
    Could you please CC the reply to [email protected]
    Thanks,

    Certainly not.

  • Macbook Pro Retina display says "No batteries available" after legitimate system software update

    Issue Description
    On July 26, 2012 I placed an order with Apple store for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the following configuration (Order # W269108641 Serial# C02J52S9DKQ5):
    Processor 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Memory 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM, Flash Storage 512GB Flash Storage
    It was delivered August 8, 2012. It cost me $3,265.16
    I have since equipped it with accessories like a wireless apple keyboard ($69), wireless mouse ($69), USB super drive ($79), VGA display adapter ($29), Ethernet Adapter ($29) and the excellent sleeve/pouch from Pack & Smooch GmbH (GBP60))
    It's so heavily configured because it’s my main workstation. I additionally bought and installed Parallels 8 so I can run Windows 8 in a Virtual Machine because I have a few things on Windows that I need to be productive. This setup has been a dream machine until a little over a week ago.
    In the one year since I bought it, I have had only 2 issues;
    • A case of display flickering that resulted after a system software update on August 28, 2013
    (Case ID 498560320 - not much help came from Apple Support but fortunately the problem went away a week later after another system software update)
    • A case of battery failure that resulted after a system software update on October 11, 2013
    (Case ID 516534003 - I have gone through all recommendations from Apple support as I will detail below)
    Symptoms after system software update
    • Battery Icon on status bar disabled with a message "No batteries available"
    • Battery not charging
    • LED on the Magsafe power adapter no longer show
    • Keyboard backlights no longer show
    • Notebook fan loud/noisy and permanently at high speed
    • Date and time reset to a date in the past at each restart
    • Notebook starts up the moment the Magsafe adapter is connected without waiting for power button to be pressed
    • An update for "MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2" keeps appearing in Software Update
    Recommendations from Apple Support
    • Perform SMC Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964)
    (Done - no change in status)
    • Run Disk Utility
    (Done - no errors found)
    • Run Apple Hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
    (Done - no errors found, no change in status)
    • Visit Apple Store
    (Done - they confirmed no issue with Magsafe adapter. For a fee they are happy to change the battery if confirmed faulty and re-install the OS if the battery is not the issue but am uncertain that the OS re-install will resolve the issue because I have read online about a similar case where a re-install did not resolve the issue)
    • Check System Report/Hardware/Power
    (Done - Health Information/Cycle count:0, Battery installed: No)
    • Perform NVRAM Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US)
    (Done - no change in status)
    Comments and additional Observations
    Please note the following;
    • All of the symptoms above appeared after a system software update on October 11, 2013
    • This update first appeared on October 10, 2013 but I was too busy to apply it especially because it required a system restart
    • The battery was fully charged when I decided to apply the update on October 11 morning after I got to work
    • Normally on full charge, the battery will typically deliver 3 - 4 hours depending on usage and up to 6 hours when idle
    • The said update was not interrupted or anything of the sort
    • On the day the symptoms were first observed when I first logged the case with apple, the system ran on battery while it performed the Apple Hardware Test while I was driving to the Apple support store on my way home even though the status bar was indicating "No battery available"
    I make the following deductions solely based on my observations
    • An apple authorized system software update broke the system
    • The nature of the failure is communication related - the battery charging circuit and related systems are not getting the necessary instructions to function as they should (It's a known fact that rechargeable batteries do NOT die instantaneously, the total hours they run on full charge will gradually reduce over time as they degrade on use)
    • It’s possible the update is not being applied correctly because the item “MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2” is still in Software update after subsequent attempts to apply it
    • The high fan speed is nothing to do with high temperature or high processor load, according to the Activity Monitor utility the highest CPU utilization 1.9 – 4.7% is by kernel_task (PID 0) followed by activitymonitord at 1.8 – 2.2% (PID 481)
    • The symptoms match what an SMC reset should resolve according to Apple documentation
    • This is a known problem within Apple based on the documentation provided and the numerous similar cases reported online
    Summary;
    The system is running OS X 10.8.5
    I have provided this detailed documentation in the hope that someone who understands this system can say exactly what is going on. It's meant to be a dream machine but now you can hear the fan from across a large room, the battery doesn't charge and is in fact not recognized so I lose data if the Magsafe adapter gets unplugged, and I have to reset the system date each time I restart the notebook.
    I've used this notebook with utmost care for a little more than a year, this investment of over $3,500 could have bought 3 high end notebooks from DELL or HP but I chose Apple.
    I have suffered untold loss in productivity in the last 10 days since this issue occurred, I respectfully request Apple to fix my notebook.
