System command in jsp..

Hi all,
how can i run this system command "echo %username%" in jsp??
i try to do that but its givinf error like this "java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: echo %username% error=2"
please help me how run this command or is there any other way i can get domain username into my jsp page..
thankx in advance...

Read the java.lang.System API: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/System.html#getProperties()
String userName = System.getProperty("user.name");Be aware that Java is serverside and this will return the server's user name. If you want to get this from the client, consider a signed applet which runs at the client side.

  • Shell commands from JSP after Forms migration

    During application migration from forms 9i to JSP & BC4J, I have to code the following Forms code into my JSP application.This is for a button pressed trigger.
    DECLARE
    RENAME_STRING VARCHAR2(120):= 'RENAME C:\BRC\PDATA' ||:DRAWING_ACCOUNTS.ACCOUNT_ID|| '.TXT P' || :DRAWING_ACCOUNTS.ACCOUNT_ID || TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'DDMMYY')|| '.txt';
    BEGIN
    HOST( RENAME_STRING, no_screen );
    web.show_document( 'http://hostname/selectfile.html', '_new');
         IF NOT Form_Success THEN
              Message('Error -- File not Renamed.');
         END IF;
    END;
    How can I do this simple sending of OS commands in JSP, any ideas?

    Hi,
    Not only rename commands but I have to pass several other os commands like 'sqlldr' for data upload as well. Therefore, I need a reusable piece of code for that. I have acheived some way for that using the following code.
    put the following file in that package.

  • Need help with Telnet command in JSP

    Here is the code I have been working on but it will not display the buffer to the page..
    String [] cmd1 = {"cmd.exe","/c","telnet hqsun1.xx.xxxxx.com"};
              Process n;
              String T = "" ;
              n = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd1);
              BufferedReader in1 =
              new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(
              n.getInputStream()));
              while((T=in1.readLine()) != null)
              out.println(T+"");
    Maybe someone has done this before? I am trying to acomplish a telnet net session to the screen with some exicuted commands, because this tool is going to be used to help determine system status when the help desk needs to check on something.
    Thanks

    I don't want to be discouraging, but I'm not quite sure you've thought the problem through. You say that you'd like to create a web page capable of providing various pieces of information to the help desk, and you suggest ping and the output of various canned telnet commands as examples.
    What is preventing the help desk from just executing those commands at the command prompt?
    I realize that the people working the help desk are (ahem) there for a reason, but it is really much faster for me to just simply type "ping www.mpalfrey.com" at the prompt, then it is for me to fire up the web browser and wait for a response that way. You will likewise find that it is a lot more convenient to perform diagnosis on remote machines directly from the command prompt.
    Uh, it's kind of like giving someone a screwdriver, then saying, "oh wait a second" and making them wear an oven mitt in order to use the screwdriver.
    But, if you really want to do it this way, the best thing to do is create a wrapper class that directly calls the system command and captures the output to a stringbuffer. Then your JSP page simply has to clone that wrapper via a new() command and trigger it if you go the singleton route. The code would look something like this...
    <%@ import page="com.mpalfrey.shellcommands.ping" %>
    <%
       myPing foo = new myPing( request.getParameter( "victim" ) );
       foo.trigger();
    %>
    Ping results:
    <%=foo.results()%>JSP can do a lot of wonderful things, but that doesn't mean you have to do it that way. :)

  • Permission problems when trying to execute simple system command

    Hi, I am quite new to JSP so please forgive me if I ask really simple things... I am trying to run system commands on the server and display the output on a webpage. This is what I've got:

    String line;
    while ((line = sOut.readLine()) != null)

    Seems like it has something to do with the permissions granted to the JVM? I have googled high and low and still haven't found a way to solve it. I've also tried adding grant { permission java.io.FilePermission "file:/bin/ls", "execute"; } to my java.policy file but to no avail. Could somebody point out how to solve this? Thanks!

    I would think it is an OS permission thing rather than java permission
    What user is apache running as on this system?
    Does the user apache is running as have permissions to run these commands, in the directory where you are running them? Try executing them yourself when logged in as that user.
    I would also recommend you read the article [when runtime.exec() won't|http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html].

  • How to call systems commands

    Hello guys,
    I will like to know if there is a way of calling system command and shell commands in windows without making use of the Runtime Class in java.
    Also when ever i call a system command or shells commands from my java application using the runtime class, it open the a new shell(Command Prompt) before executing the command.
    I await your response. Thanks in advance.

    i am trying to run system command(windows) in java. I am getting
    exception as java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: c:\dir
    Please Help.
    Here is the code
    import java.io.*;
    public class RunCommand {

    try
    //run dir command

    BufferedReader stdInput=new BufferedReader(new
    InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    BufferedReader stdError =new BufferedReader(new
    InputStreamReader(p.getErrorStream()));
    //read the output
    System.out.println("here is the output:\n");
    while((s=stdInput.readLine())!=null){
    System.out.println(s);
    System.out.println("here is the error if any");
    while((s=stdError.readLine())!=null){
    System.out.println(s);
    System.exit(0);
    }//end try
    catch (IOException e)
    System.out.println("exception Happened" );
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(-1);

    It works fine if you replaceProcess p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("c:\\dir");withProcess p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c dir");And don't forget to define your s variable.

  • How to Run Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing SAP PI

    Hi,
    We are trying to execute multiple commands via "Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing".
    When we use single command say for example cp or mv (copy or move) the commands get executed fine.
    eg: cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    /this works fine/
    when we club commands together or try to redirect the outputs of commands, none of the commands get executed.
    eg:
    cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt ; rm %F
    or
    wc -l %F > /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    Is it possible to execute multiple commands or redirect the output  of commands without using a shell script? The PI server we are working on iis hosted on UNIX environment.

    Hi Harleen,
    try like this
    cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt ; rm %F
    instead of semicolon try this
    (1) &
    command1 & command2
    Execute Command1 and then execute Command2
    (2) &&
    command1 && command2
    Runs the command2 only when command1 doesn't Complete successfully
    (3) ||
    command1 || command2
    Runs the second command if the first command had an error
    (4) ()
    (command1 || command2) || (command3 & command4)
    Defines the order in which commands are to be executed

  • System commands - disk access

    To emulate the "clrscr" command (from C), I am determining the name of the OS and then passing the appropriate command to the Runtime object:
    if ((menu.osName.lastIndexOf("sun") != -1) || (menu.osName.lastIndexOf("inux") != -1))
      System.out.println("This is an unix terminal");
      menu.clearCommand = "/usr/bin/clear";
    else if (menu.osName.lastIndexOf("indow") != -1)
      System.out.println("This is a Windows MS-DOS terminal");
      menu.clearCommand = "C:\\Windows\\Command\\cls";
    else if (menu.osName.lastIndexOf("dos") != -1)
      System.out.println("This is a MS-DOS terminal");
      menu.clearCommand = "C:\\DOS\\cls";
    try
      menu.cls = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(menu.clearCommand);
      menu.cls.waitFor();
      menu.clsOut = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(menu.cls.getInputStream()));
      while (menu.clsOut.ready())
        System.out.println(menu.clsOut.readLine());
      menu.clsOut.close();
    catch (Exception e)
    -However, I also want to make sure that the system command is not an alias for a malicious script, in terms of invoking any sort of IO (delete/create files, etc.). Is it possible to have some sort of wrapper mechanism around the execution of the system command to detect and catch any attempt to perform IO? So far, my application works as the code speaks out, but I am worried that the system command may not be what I expect.
    Thanks.

    What about making the information you need to clear the screen a part of the installation?
    You do
    clear >myclear.out
    cls >myclear.out
    or whatever and use the contents of the "clear screen" file from your Java program.
    Caveat however: under Unix you can have different types of terminal with different clear-screen sequences.
    Sometimes I ponder to make a request for a curses-like java package to give an API for such (more advanced, but still CUI-related) things. Or maybe there is such without my knowing it?

    I installed slave disk(30GB-IBM)and have been trying with all the possibilities to get the solaris(version-6/00)installed on the slave disk. I used "Solaris 8 Software 1/2" CD. I was not able to get solaris installed on second(slave) disk evenwitth the single user mode.

  • Unzip file using operating system command in file/ftp receiver adapter

    Hi,
    I'm wonderdering how to unzip a zip-file in the receiver file/ftp adapter. I know it is possible to do it using the 'Operating system command' feature, but somehow the command I use seems to be ignored! (I'm using SP14, unix).
    The command I entered is quite simple: unzip %F (also tried the %f, but i guess it doesn't really matter wich on I use).
    Is it possible that I'm unzipping to another directory than the one i expect? the unzip should be performed to/in the current directory, and assumingly current directory is the one stated in the 'Target Directory', right?
    Hope someone can clearify this issue for me.
    Best regards,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    It seems to me also, that the files are being unzipped to a different location than what you are expecting. The OS command might getting executed in some default location(i am trying to fnd that out)on the server and not in the target directory of the channel(It seems logical to me)....
    If you have time...pls try this out & see whether this would help...
    Have a shell script written with the following commands in them
    cd <path to target directory>
    unzip $1(filename from the channel)
    and in the OS command in the Channel give....
    <absolute path to the .sh file> %F
    Thanks,
    Renjith.

  • File Adapter 7.11 - set operating system command line dynamically

    Hi,
    is there any way to set the "Operating System Command Line" in the file adapter as ASMA / dynamic attribute?
    I need to set  a command line exec depending on some XSL mapping values.
    thx

    hi,

    think about this approach:
    you put the XSL values into the filename after the real name of the file
    in the batch script you use those values in order to execute a dynamic exe command
    after processing you just change the name of the file in the script by removing the xsl values
    simple ? I think so

  • File Receiver Adapter:Run Operating System COmmand after message Processig:

    Dear All,
    I have gone through this link
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/EN/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm]
    But i have a problem.
    In the scenario which we have, File name is DYNAMICALLY GENERATED by a UDF
    I want to call the file at run time after message processing via Command Line and execute some os commands.
    But since the file name is Dynamic....How will i call the file at run time in Command Line:
    SYNTAX: %f(FileName)
    How will i specify the file name in the above syntax as the file name is Dynamic and not constatnt.
    Please Advice.

    Dear All,
    Yes just now i got the answer from this thread[OS command line script - Need help;
    Actually i have another doubt now
    In REVEIVER FILE ADAPTER:

  • Operating  System commands in FTP adapter

    Hi
    I have a requirement to use "Operating System Command" option in the Sender/Receiver side File Adapter.
    And in help.sap.com they have brief notes on this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
    When I tried to execute some valid DOS commands like MKDIR,RENAME etc it didn't work at all.
    But process has been sucessfully completed without any error!!!
    System : XI 3.0 SP 11
    Can anyone has any inputs on this ? Pls share me some ideas with example. Is there is any limitations on this feature?
    Note: When I tried to give invalid commands hfjkhfkasdjfh,asdjdhas etc, still it is not giving any error!!. Still my File Adapter as well as entire process is successfully completed.

    Hi,
    A couple of cautionary notes.
    The OS command is executed after the file has been processed, e.g. read successfully by a sender adapter or created successfully by a receiver adapter.
    The file name processed can be accessed using %f in the OS command.
    The OS command must include the full directory path, or XI will assume the current directory which may not be where your command resides.

  • Operating System Command After File Processing in Sender File Adapter

    Hello guys,
    actually we have different interfaces, and the client to take all the files from only one directory, for example D:/DPI.
    Unitl now we had one adapter for every file with the content conversion, so we didn't have problems with that. Now we have the problem that we sould maintain an order processing files.
    We thougth that an idea could be to execute one file pointing to D:/DPI and at the Operating System Command put like: copy D:/DPI/file.txt D:/DPI/outbound/file.txt, so when file is executed, we move the next file to another directory where is pointing the adapter. Doing this we have an error on the adapter giving us the message: Could not process due to error: java.lang.NullPointerException
    We are using a Windows.
    There is anyway to do in our way, or there is a better solution to resolve this problem?
    Any other idea to do this?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Xavi.

    Helo Guys,
    maybe I haven't explained well.
    We have one directory with different files. We have one adapter for every file( we need for the content conversion ) using NFS and all the adapters are pointing to the same directory.
    The problem is that if we have files A.txt, B.txt and C.txt we need to process in an order.
    And the problem we see is that for every file we have one adapter, so for example if we process file A.txt with one adapter, when this part is finished, we want to process file B.txt with another adapter, and the same for the rest of the files.
    So the idea we had is to create another directories, and when A.txt has finished move file B.txt to another directory.
    However this way is not running, if we log on the PI machine and execute cmd, we can do a copy of one file from one directory to another, but when we put this sentence in the adapter in OS command if we see the adapter log we see an error executing the OS command, but we don't know what is the error, there is no more information.
    There is any way to do this or maybe we have to manage in a different way?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Xavi.
