Tab Order in a Loaded SWF

I have a Flex application that is useing a SWFLoader to load
swf files that were created in Flash. The swf files from flash have
ui controls on them, like text boxes and buttons.
In Flash, the tab order for these controls works just fine. i
can tab around from field to field, no problem.
When i load the swf via the loader in Flex, the tab order no
longer works. I tried setting the loader's tabEnabled and tabIndex
(as well as the tab index on just about everything i could.) And it
still doesnt tab.
Any suggestions where to turn next?

Thanks for helping out. I think you are correct about what I
want to do. Just to make sure though, I also want the audio to pick
back up where they paused the animation if they hit the pause
button.
I've tried SoundMixer.StopAll() but do not get the results I
am looking for. The audio starts for about a half second, but then
shuts off (almost what I want on load, but not quite). Then when
the play button is pushed, the play function is triggered, but no
audio comes out. When the stop function is called, the audio starts
again. This is very strange to me. I have my code posted below.
Again, thanks for your help.

  • Last and greatest: conditional statements for click referring to loaded swf

    Hey forum,
    I am so close to being done with this site update it is exciting! I will be sure to throw it up here for you to see, since without this forum I would have been hurting!
    The last big hurdle I have, is the following, and I hope someone can just throw me a bit of guidance on this.
    I am looking for a way to write a function, that on click of my "next" button in the main timeline, will refer to my loaded swf MovieClip(imageLoader.content) telling it to go to the next frame label, so really a compound if/then situation – just referring to the loaded file throws me.
    So, my next button is "pNext," and what I am looking for is something along the lines of:
    if (loaded movie) is on frames 12-144, then go here (on click),
    if (loaded movie) is on frames 144-155, then go here (on click)
    etc. and so forth.
    Thanks so much! Below is my code that works on one next click, so you can see the instances etc.
    b
    pNext.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, nextClick);
    function nextClick (e:MouseEvent):void{
        MovieClip(imageLoader.content).gotoAndPlay ("aboutS1");

    If I'm reading your request right, what you can try is to create an array of the frame labels in the order they appear and use the currentLabel property to determine where you are and indicate where to go...
    var labels:Array = new Array("one","two","three","four","five"...etc...);
    pNext.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, nextClick);
    function nextClick (e:MouseEvent):void{
        var mc:MovieClip = MovieClip(imageLoader.content);
        var nextLabel:String = labels[labels.indexOf(String(mc.currentLabel))+1];
        mc.gotoAndPlay (nextLabel);

  • Problem with Tabbing Order in LiveCycle

    I have a two page form.  The last field on the second page is an image field (the user can attach a graphic).  The problem is it won't tab back to the first page after this field.

    I, too, am having problems with tab order.
    I have a two-page form created in LiveCycle Designer. There are 66 fields on the 1st page of the form, and 65 fields on page 2. When I use Window > Tab order to examine the tab order, all is as it should be (except for one thing, discussed later). However, when I go into the Preview PDF tab (or load the form in Acrobat X Pro), field 4 on page 1 tabs to field 42 (on page 1). Additionally, tabbing from field 41 on page 1 takes me to field 43 on page 2.
    I can use Action Builder to ensure that the tab goes to the appropriate field, but that seems a rather kludgy way to go about it.
    And that additional problem: I've got three text fields on page 1 that are of type Protected. According to the documentation, "The protected field is not included in the tabbing sequence and it does not generate events.", yet all three fields are in the tab order.
    What (if anything) am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

  • Can you tell when a loaded SWF has reached its final frame?

    I used loadMovie to load an external SWF into the bottom-half
    of a main "shell" swf. When that loaded SWF finishes playing (it's
    just an animation), I need to populate a text field with the word
    "DONE" . The text field resides on the _root, so I need some way to
    know when the loaded SWF has reached its last frame...
    This would obviously be easy if I had the .FLA of the loaded
    SWF because I could just write the actionscript on the last frame
    of that SWF to populate the _root textfield. Alas, I do not have
    the source FLA of that loaded SWF, so I need some way to have the
    main "shell" SWF/FLA know when that loaded SWF has reached its end.
    Is this possible???
    Thanks!!!

    > The reality of my situation is that there's a "menu" of
    sorts that
    > gets loaded into "contentClip". This "menu" has a bunch
    of links.
    So far, so good.
    > When clicked, each link loads a DIFFERENT swf into
    "contentClip".
    > It is THOSE swfs that I need to note the end of.
    That's still okay.
    > So, there's actually more than one, and they're not
    exactly being
    > loaded directly from my main movie, since they're
    actually loaded
    > based on a link being clicked in the movie that is
    currently loaded
    > into "containerClip"
    The concept is still the same, no matter what. No matter how
    deep the
    one-clip-loads-another chain goes, you have to keep taps on
    each chain link.
    When the final link has loaded, you'll be able to make your
    object reference
    to that movie clip. That movie clip -- because it's an
    instance of the
    MovieClip class -- will have the _currentframe and
    _totalframes properties.
    You'll just be checking *that* cliip's properties instead of
    the one named
    contentClip in my own example.
    You can loop using onEnterFrame or, if you prefer, with
    setInterva().
    That doesn't much matter either, so long as you repeatedly
    poll the deepest
    clip to test its current frame against its last frame (this
    all assumes that
    the clip being tested is a linear animation whose end
    corresponds to its
    last frame; otherwise, you could check _currentframe against
    any arbitrary
    frame number).
    > I hope that wasn't too confusing! Do you still have a
    solution???
    Not too confusing to understand, but it might be confusing
    to route
    through in practice. Not confusing, actually, but meticulous
    ... you'll
    have to be careful with your pathing. Nested movie clips are
    very much like
    nested folders on your hard drive. Their instance names
    relate to the
    folder names.
    Now, if that menu doesn't have an instance name you provided
    -- or if
    any fork along the path has an instance name you can't
    control -- you can
    still reference the nested movie clips. If you test your file
    in the
    Debugger panel, you'll see all the instances laid out in
    hierarchical order.
    You'll see that automatic instance names are provided
    (something like
    "instance1", "instance2", etc.).

  • Controlling loaded SWF inside a child

    Hello to everyone, may this question be too obvious to
    everyone, but I've been googling for hours without any luck.
    Have seen examples but they are not exactly as my scenario...
    Please, I need some help.
    I have loaded a SWF and attached to a MovieClip which exist
    in my current movie using the following code, and now I just want
    to access the loaded SWF to send it orders like play() or
    gotoAndPlay(); I have tried also: container=
    MocieClip(loader.content); instead adding child, but it trhows an
    error

    //this is your minimum code to load a file
    var url:String = "put your url here ";
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.load(request);
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,
    loadComplete);
    function loadComplete(event:Event):void {

  • Accessibility and tabs order in UI5 controls

    Hi,
    I'm working with the latest version of the SAPUI5 library (1.19).
    I have created an Overlay Container with some complex UI in it, and I have some accessibility issues - most of them related to tabs order:
    1. When I navigate using the tab key from the keyboard and reach to a Button control - the button is accessible (I can click on it using the enter key) but it is not marked as selected. Is this a known issue? Can it be a CSS issue?
    2. I have a DataSet control in one of the Grids constructing the UI. For some reason I can't access the tiles of the data set using tab key. The tiles are created from a template that defines a new control (using extends function of Control), as it is in the DataSet example in Snippix.
    Is there something I should add in my code in order to support keyboard selection for the data set tiles? (maybe adding something to the renderer?)
    3. Somehow by clicking tab and enter keys in my overlay container - I could access controls that are behind that container and are not accessible by mouse clicks (they are accessible only when I close the overlay container pop-up window)... How can that be? Is there something I can do about it? (maybe by defining some properties on my controls?)
    4. Is there something used to define tab order for controls in my container or it is done automatically by the renderer?
    Thanks!
    Rotem

    The tab order is the order the sequence were loaded into the window. There is no simple way to reshuffle the order. You can change the order to some extent. If you want a particular sequence to be the last one in the order, pull it out of the then and then redock it to the window and the tab will become the last opened tab, but that's about all you can do.

  • Flash: Tab Order Not Working in Presenter

    In my presentation, I am including a swf file in which the user can tab between fields to enter their name, company, etc., The Tab key works to advance the cursor in the stand-alone swf file, but does not work when published through Presenter. Has anyone else had this occur? Is there a work around? Thanks!

    pguerett,
    Thanks so much! That did the trick. I kept looking at tab order, but I never looked at Hierarchy. I'm not sure how they got so messed up in that regard. (That's not the order in which I placed the fields--in fact, I imported the form.) Thanks again! That was driving me crazy!

  • AIR crashes on loading swf with 'Imported for runtime sharing' fonts

    Hello everybody,
    I have a trouble with an AIR application developped with Flex but the error seems to come from the Flash/AIR, after some searches a staff member (Flex harUI) said me that I could find more help for my trouble here.
    I'm developping an AIR application which loads an external swf. This swf contains 'Imported for runtime sharing' fonts from another swf to reduce its size.
    When the AIR application has finished to load (see message below) the whole application crashes without giving any error message except the usual "Process terminated unexpectedly" error message.
    End Loading: [SWF] C:\Users\dev02\myProject\index.swf - 83,930 bytes after decompression
    Error Message:
    Process terminated unexpectedly.

    I use Flash Builder 4 (build 272416) with sdk 4.6.
    Full discussion here.
    I tried to load the external swf with the most basics codes, it works with a Flash web app but not with a Flex/AIR app or a Flash/AIR app.
    Thanks for the help !

    Thanks for the anwser.
    In fact, I cannot specify a swc because my main application is an editor of sub-applications where each one has its own library.
    The bug remains when sharing a simple MovieClip too.
    Maybe, if I explain my project it will be a little more clear.
    I'm developping a multi-languages module / application.
    For each module, I have an external xml for texts. So in order to add a new language we don't need to recompile, just to change texts in the xml. But, I had to externalize my fonts, (imagine if each swf contains the whole characters set like latin, cyrillic, etc.).
    And then, I have my main text editor application above the module, which loads texts xmls and a preview of the page where we need to change the text. (This is where it crashes, during the process of loading the preview).
    My editor works great for translating, changing texts, modify images but without the preview, what is really frustrating.
    (not so ergonomic, I know...)
    I hope it will help you to understand my trouble.

  • Tracing the level of a loaded .swf

    I'm using a loadMovie script to load in my .swf files.
    How can I trace the level of a loaded .swf?
    Also, here are my load scripts:
    loadMovie("movie1.swf", 1)
    loadMovie("movie2.swf", 2)
    I thought level 2 would be behind level 1, but movie2.swf is showing up overtop of movie1.swf?

    If you are loading into levels you should use loadMovieNum or you should look into using the MovieClipLoader class—which is waaaayyy better than loadMovie/loadMovieNum!
    However levels are difficult to work with since there isn't really a class that represents them and so the number of methods, events, and properties are a little limited and not really documented.
    In fact is AS3 levels completely go away, so it really isn't the best thing to use.
    However. If you put code on a timeline:
    trace("Hello from movie1.swf I'm at: "+this);
    The trace will show which _level the clip is on.
    Also a little known trick is to do something like:
    _level1.swapDepths(_level2)
    which will swap the stacking order of the levels. Of course you have to wait until the content is loaded into the level because it doesn't exist before that. And they won't be renamed so it can get very confusing if higher number usually means higher in the stacking order...

  • Setting tab order to form fields contained within a table, Indesign CS6

    I have created a form in ID CS6, and have put all the tabs in order so that people can easily navigate it when filling it in. However, all of the form fields that are contained within tables are not in order, and I can't find any way of putting them in order without changing them in acrobat after I have made the interactive PDF. This means that every time my client makes changes to the form I have to manually put all the fields in order again, which is time consuming. Is anyone able to help?

    This tab order dialogue box is nearly useless if you have a complex form with hundreds of form fields as there is no way to interact with the document when the dialogue is open and clicking on an entry in the list does not highlight the respective field. Furthermore, if you have arrays of radio buttons, or check boxes acting like radio buttons, ie all with the same form field name, there's no way to know which order they should be arranged in since they can't be selected or identified while this dialogue is open!
    That is immensely frustrating to say the least.
    It's quite ridiculous that Adobe hasn't fixed this bug in years and this user interface is shockingly bad.

  • Load SWF file in main SWF with parameters

    Hello everybody,
    I recently got a new flash Application which is a Photo Gallery.
    This App is made of multiple folders (source files), a FLA file, a SWF with its javascript SWFObject and an Html page which instantiate this App with some parameters (size, config file path, ...).
    It needs an XML file to find all the Photos it displays, to do it I need to configure my application in the HTML Page and give it the "xml_path" :
    var so = new SWFObject("index.swf", "gallery", "249", "249", "10", "#111111");
    so.addVariable("xml_path","load/config.xml"); // this line is adding the path to the xml file make sure that it's name is xml_path
    so.addParam("allowfullscreen","true");
    so.write("flashcontent");
    By the way, I have a second application, the WebSite, which have to display the Gallery SWF in its "Gallery" page.
    Here is how I do it at the moment (in ActionScript3) :
    var swfRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("C:/......../Galerie/index.swf");
    var swfLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    //Charge le SWF Galerie dans le SWF Site
    swfLoader.load(swfRequest, context);
    container1.addChild(swfLoader);
    //Positionne le SWF
    swfLoader.x=10;
    swfLoader.y=120;
    It successfully loads the Gallery application but It shows an error telling me it doesn't find the XML configuration file... In the HTML file I simply had to write the "so.addVariable("xml_path","load/config.xml");" to tell where the XML file is...
    So, my question is : How can I integrate my SWF application giving it some parameters like above, in Action Script 3?
    Thank you ,
    Patrick

    No, nothing with HTML.
    I have 2 SWF applications. One is the Gallery, and the second is my Main Page.
    My Main Page must integrate the Gallery module in one of its page.
    The problem is when I try to integrate it, I think I must give de future loaded SWF some parameters like this :
    (My Main SWF loading in HTML)
    var so = new SWFObject("WebSite.swf", "flashcontent", "520", "700", "10", "#111111");
    so.addParam("allowfullscreen","true");
    so.addParam("allowScriptAccess","always");
    so.addParam("menu","false");
    so.addParam("wmode","opaque");
    so.addParam("bgcolor","#000000");
    so.setAttribute("id","flash");
    so.write("flashcontent");
    It was for the Main App. For my Gallery SWF I had to load it like this (in HTML) :
    var so = new SWFObject("Gallerie.swf", "gallery", "249", "249", "10", "#111111");
    so.addVariable("xml_path","Galerie/config.xml"); // this line is adding the path to the xml file make sure that it's name is xml_path
    so.addParam("allowfullscreen","true");
    so.write("flashcontent");
    So at the beginning I had 2 different projects with an HTML page for each.
    Now I wan't to directly integrate the Gallery SWF into the Main SWF. And as you have seen I must give it some parameters such as the "xml_path" and "allowfullscreen". This must be done in ActionScript 3 and I don't know how...
    I think I have to use FlashVars but I don't know how. As I said before, I have tried using the loaderinfo.parameters, but it is in read-only...
    Do you have an idea of how I can make it work ?

  • How can I set the tab order of text box controls on each page of a tab control?

    I need to be able to select the tabbing order of individual controls on a single page of a tabbed control. How??

    In LV 6.1 an up you should be ablel to right click on the edge of the tab control when the tab-page in question is selected.
    The bttom selcetion in the pop-up is "Reoder controls in page..."
    selecting this option will switch editing modes to allow you to specify the ored, just like in a cluster.
    I seem to remeber in older versions you had to drag the tabable controls off the tab control, specify the tabbing oder and then drag them back on. The oldest version I have on this machine is 6.1 so that all I can speak for at the moment.
    I hope this helps,

  • Using TextSnapshot class on a loaded SWF on an iPad

    Hello, I am creating an iPad app. I am loading SWF files using a Loader object, then placing them in a movieclip and setting a SWFLoaders source property to this clip. Before I add the clip to the SWFLoader control I am using the TextSnapshot class on it, to retrieve an array with the getTextRunInfo method.
    All this works fine when I test it on my desktop machine. However, on the iPad it causes the app to crash when a control using this clip is added to the stage. Can you still use TextSnapshot with an iPad, is there a workaround for this? Thanks for your help.

    We are a university. most of our books are SWF files. We have been using iPad/FlexBuilder 4.5 to successfully view the contents of these books.
    All navigation (i.e gotoandstop(page), etc work fine. Gestures for pageforward/pageback, zoom, pan work fine also.
    Not sure I understand your comment.
    However, there IS a specific problem with text snapshot. Below is a short code piece used to highlight text on a page.
    If you remove the failing line everything works fine.
    If you "debug" the iPad device everything works fine when you execute the code on the iPad
    if you create a release build, when the application starts and the "findtext" line is executed the "app" freezes. No error message. The try/catch does not seem to catch any error.
    This is something we really need for our app. If this is a bug how should we report it.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Is there a way to force the tab order to skip a page and then return to that page on a form?

    I have a multi-page form with a required page layout.  The problem with the current form layout, is that I'm finding my users are getting to page "20" and it seems like the natural end of the form...and stop entering information and submit.  The problem is, there's an additional form field on the next page that MIGHT need important information.
    The information in that final field is only present in about 10% of submissions, but is crucial to the file if present.  As I said, the page layout is required.
    Is there a way to change the tab order to go from the last form field on page "19" to the form field on page "21" and then back to the form fields on page "20"?

    Thanks try67, but it isn't a required field.  As I mentioned, only about 20% of submissions will require filling it in.
    There isn't a submit button.  Not even sure what I would do with/or how I would implement a submit button.  After processing the form, the filled out form is 'Saved As' to keep the original forms integrity intact.  The 'Saved As' file  is renamed appropriately, and then it is printed to a PDF file and attached to the appropriate customer file.
