Tab to a page with item values

Hi all,
I want to create a Tab, and it goes to page and set an item value in this page.
I found out Tab has the only option that it goes to a page, but no item value can be set.
I can achieve it by using List Entry, which provides the ability of going to a page and set item value. But I want to create a Tab instead of a List Entry.
Any suggestion?

Hi
Have you tried creating parent tabs as you can set item values with those...?
Cheers
Ben

  • How to populate a filter field in one page with the value from other page

    Take the classic report with form application.
    on page 1 (report) I have a filter (dbname) for the records that will appear in the report. Say that, I enter "ap02" in the filter and all records where dbname starts with "ap02" will display. It works ok.
    Then I click on "create" button and page 2 appears. I enter all fields except the dbname. This field is generated, at "pre-insert trigger on the table".
    What I want is when I press the button "create" on page 2 to pass the value of the generated dbname field into the filter in page 1 so when that page refreshes I will have only one record on the report page (1). I understand that the dbname at the page 2 level still empty because it is generated by the trigger. How do I have access to that info to populate the filter.
    Thanks for your assistance

    Joe - Work backwards from the value generated during the execution of the trigger. You have the value there so you could save it into a package variable right then (create a package with a variable and assign the value to the variable). Then create a process on the page (after the DML process) to assign the value of your package variable to a page item. Then in the branch back to page 1, pass the item. (Or without messing with the branch, the process could simply assign the package variable directly the the page 1 item -- :P1_ITEM := my_package.my_var; ).
    An alternative would be to use the "returning into" feature of DML to capture the PK of the created record into an item. Then the next page process could use the PK to fetch the new row and get the dbname value for passing to page 1.
    Another option would be to update session state directly in the trigger.

  • RE:Blank page with items

    Hi!
    How can i create a form which isn't bound to a table or view. I tried using a blank page but seems like a blank page can't have items on it.
    Or create of type "No tabs with Sidebar"
    Thnx.

    Hello,
    Create a blank page with a HTML region on it. Then you can add items to this region.

  • Problem with items value

    Hi All,
    I created 2 popup lov items exactly the same: P91_SUBJ_TYPE and P91_SHG_KOD.
    I thought that they both has the same defult value (befoer selection value
    from the LOV) :NULL. (although i haven't define any defult value).
    now under Page Processing i have a process like this :
    begin
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is not null then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=1;
    end if;
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is not null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is null then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=2;
    end if;
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is not null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is not null then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=3;
    end if;
    end;but it doesn't work.
    after some checks i found out that apex doesn't identify P91_SUBJ_TYPE as
    null (although it looks that in the session state it is a null).but it does
    recognize the item P91_SHG_KOD as null.
    now in P91_SUBJ_TYPE item i defined a default value = 0.
    and changed the process like this:
    begin
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE != 0 then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=1;
    end if;
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is not null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE =0 then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=2;
    end if;
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is not null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE != 0 then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=3;
    end if;
    end;this process works fine.
    my question why P91_SHG_KOD identified as null and P91_SUBJ_TYPE doesn't.
    the question is bigger when i tried to do a computations for P91_IND_FETCH
    (without any definition of default value for the l.o.v items)
    computations for P91_IND_FETCH equals 1 when
         (:P91_SUBJ_TYPE !=0 or :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is not null)
    and (:P91_SHG_KOD is null or :P91_SHG_KOD=0 )which works fine.
    computations for P91_IND_FETCH equals 2 when
         (:P91_SHG_KOD !=0 or :P91_SHG_KOD is not null)
    and (:P91_SUBJ_TYPE  is null or :P91_SUBJ_TYPE =0 )does not work.
    can someone explain what seems to be the problem ?
    thanks in advance

    thank you for your response .
    but it's doesn't works.
    first - if apex doesn't return null value for LOV, why P91_SHG_KOD works as null ?
    second - while i did the computation that you wrote it doesn't work:
    begin
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is not null then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=1;
    /* it works well.*/
    end if;
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is not null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is null then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=2;
    /*it doesn't work. ind_fetch=3 (instead of 2).*/
    end if;
    if :P91_SHG_KOD is not null and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE is not null then
         :P91_IND_FETCH :=3;
    /* it also works well.*/
    end if;
    end;and when P91_SHG_KOD and :P91_SUBJ_TYPE are empty it also doesn't work - ind_fetch =1 (instead of null)
    in the 2 cases that it doesn't work(as i mentioned above) it also show an eror message:
    Error: ORA-01722: invalid number performing LOV query:
    "select K_DESC, KOD_P from (select kod_p || ' ' || kod_desc
    k_desc, kod_p from codes order by kod_p) wwvlovinlineviewname where
    KOD_P = :WWV_LOV_RETURN_KEY_UTIL_1111".  (this eror message caused because of the null problem. when i changed the process and defined a default value
    to :P91_SUBJ_TYPE this message doesn't appear ).
    can you explain me that?
    thanks in advance.

  • Setting item value for child tab

    My application has pages with 2-level tabs.
    I can set item values using the "Set these items" and "With these values" fields in "Tab Target" section in the application builder page of the parent tab.
    However, I cannot find the corresponding fields for the child tab application builder page. ie. certain page items are being set when the child tab is pressed.
    Creating page process to set the items doesn't work for me, because I only want the items to be set if the requested page to the current page is not the same one.

    Ken,
    Use an on-submit before-computations process that fires conditionally based on the request, e.g., only if the request is one of a specified list of tab names.

  • How to add a Picklist/Drop down in a page with values (Without Personaliz)

    hi,
    i am very very new to OAF ....please help me out on the below requirement....
    Please suggest me how to add a pick list/drop down field to a page, with some values. (without personalization)
    And the second one is when ever i'll chose a value from the drop down the page will reload and display a message on the page.(messages are different for the different values)
    Thanks

    Prakash
    As mentioned by Anil you can use the above link for new poplist generation through extension. As far as reloading the page in that case you need to make use of PPR for that item.Do refer dev guide for more details
    You can use below code for creating poplist in processRequest of your extended controller
    OAMessageChoiceBean mcb = (OAMessageChoiceBean) createWebBean(pageContext, MESSAGE_CHOICE_BEAN);
    mcb.setPickListViewUsageName("TestVO");
    mcb.setListValueAttribute("LookupCode");
    mcb.setListDisplayAttribute("Meaning" );
    mcb.setID("test");
    mcib.setFireActionForSubmit ("event1",null,null,false, false);//This is event that cause reload of pageYou can handle the event in pfr method
      if("event1".equals(pageContext.getParameter("event")))
    }Thanks

  • How to combine Submit value and item values in report condition?

    What I have is a report with some input parameters, one of which is a Select List with Submit that forces population of a second Select List. There is also a GO button. Depending on the combination of the two drop-downs, one of three report regions then gets displayed. This all works fine, but the users would like the report NOT to show UNTIL they click on the GO button. I'm trying to figure out how to tweak my conditions to include a Submit value along with item values. Can someone suggest a solution?
    (PS. I'm using dependent selects because I'm still using APEX 3.2)

    Hello
    When your page is submitted due to the the parent select list's value getting changed the APEX 'REQUEST' variable is set to the name of the select list item.
    You could perhaps use this to perhaps set a hidden item on the page whose value can then be checked in the conditions that control the display of your report regions.

  • How do you populate a page item in apex with a value read from excel

    Dear All
    I am working on application where I am uploading a csv file in oracle apex. I then need to access a value in Cell B2 of the csv file and populate a page item called
    :P2100_AUTHORISATION_ID with this value. Many of the examples I have found upload the data using v_data-array into a table but I don't need to do that I just need to get the value from the csv file and then display additional information about the file allowing the user to either or continue or cancel the request to upload. I am running into a small problem that I can't explain and wondered if anyone had any ideas.
    Here is the code I am using to try and populate and item called :P2100_AUTHORISATION_ID but when I poulate the item the value is always 0. But if I replace the line :P2100_AUTHORISATION_ID:= v_data_array(2) with a raise_application_error(-20001,v_data_array(2)); The correct value is displayed in the eror. Any Help would be appreciate and I apologise in advance if this akes no sense at all:-)

    Hi Joel
    Continuing on from my last question, there was something else I want to ask if you dont mind.
    Now that I have the v_data_array(2) value in a page item I would like to use as an input value to a procedure to return some information I need displayed on the page. To do this I need to convert it to a number but when I try to so this I get the following error
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error
    When I use the wwv_flow.debug that you told me about it is outputting a value '4851 ' so it look like there may be some sort of asii character causing a problem. I have tried using trim(v_data_array(2)) and ascii(v_data_array(2)) but nothing seems to work.
    Would you know how to convert a v_data_array value to a number? At the moment I am attemting to do it withiin the same code I attached in my earlier post but I have replaced the assignment of :P2100_AUTHORISATION_ID with the code below where P_BL_WD_DATA_ENTRY.getauthid is the procedure returning the values I need.
    :P2100_AUTHORISATION_ID:= P_BL_WD_DATA_ENTRY.getauthid(to_number(v_data_array(2)));
    Thanks

  • Call print apex_util.get_print_document() with page item values

    Hi all
    I ran into an issue that very frustrated as it sounds so simple.
    I'm in Apex 3.1.
    My database has table TAB_CLASSES, TAB_STUDENT
    My application has page 1 with P1_SID is student_ID
    I had an simple report query name Class_query, show all classes that a student attends
    select * from TAB_CLASSES where SID = :P1_SID;
    I also select option "include application and session information"
    I had report template Class_template
    In my application, I have a process tried to generate report list classes for all students.
    l_report blob;
    for x in (select * from TAB_STUDENT)
    loop
    :P1_SID := x.SID;
    l_report := apex_util.get_print_document (
    p_application_id => :APP_ID,
    p_report_query_name => 'Class_query',
    p_report_layout_name => 'Class_template',
    p_report_layout_type => 'rtf',
    p_document_format => 'pdf'
    insert all the l_report into database with SID as a part of l_report name (*)
    end loop;
    After this, I got multiple of l_report blob in database, number of report is exactly number of student in the TAB_STUDENT table. The problem is that every report looks the same, and it got the information of only first student
    I guessed it did not pass the item value (P1_SID) every time it call the get_print_document, but it still shows in the report name (*)
    Please help me. Thanks for any idea.

    Thanks for the post of Marc, about how variables are binding and calling by process, I changed my app design to have a sp to print and store the pdf file. Then in my app, I just called the sp and passed the P1_SID. It worked.

  • How to refresh page after selecting value from LOV item , in a tabular form

    Hi ,
    I have a tabular form, which contains 2 items(columns), of type "Select List - named LoV".
    Now, couple of issues here.
    1.
    2nd item(column) in tabular form, that LoV should get populated based user's selection value in first item LoV. So how do i refer to the value, that user selected in first item's LoV? I will have to use this reference in LoV query of my 2nd item ( on this tabular form)
    2.
    How can we refresh the page, when user selectes value in first item ( from LoV). As this is a tabular form, here item type is Select List, we dont have an option to pick item type as Select List with Submit. So problem is that when user selects value for item 1, refresh does not happen and item 2 LoV does not get populated as per user's selection in item 1.
    Please help here. Would be really appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rave.

    Thanks Ben and Dan for your responses.
    Ben, your solution helped me with refresh of page, as page got submitted.
    This answers to my 2nd question. However, I still need to know first question, which basically is, how do i refer to the value, that user selected in first item LoV.
    Issue is, I selected the value in first item LoV, it got submitted and page fot refreshed. But after page refresh, first item LoV loses its value that I had selected last time. It does not retain the selected value after refresh.
    I have an unconditional process, that on every submit(refresh) of page, I set my items with their corresponding values. But problem is what do i mention there to refer to this item.
    I looked in view source of my page, this item is referred as f03.
    So i used "apex_application.g_f03", to set this item to its value, in my uncoditional submit process. But it did not work. I tried to refer this item as "f03" in this unconditional submit process. But still it did not help, the selected item loses its value after page refresh(submit).
    Any help here would be really appreciated. Please suggest how do we refer to this item's selected value.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.

  • Redirecting an item value to another page..

    Hi,
    I am trying to auto-populate couple of values on page 2 when I click a button on page 1. Tried setting the item values using the comma separated list and also by re-directing to an url. Hit an issue when the values that need to be set itself contain a comma within itself. Could you let me know if there is any other de-limiter that I can use instead of a comma while setting the item values.
    For instance:
    There is a button on Page 58. When this button is clicked, I should be redirected to page 45 in the application and the values in P58_Name and P58_LocId should be auto-populated in P45_Name and P_45LocId.
    Only when there is NO comma in value of P58_Name, this works fine. But, when there is a comma in P58_Name this is what happens:
    P58_Name = Mickey, Mouse
    P58_LocId = 145
    Once the button is clicked on page 58, the fields in page 45 are auto-populated as below:
    P45_Name = Mickey
    P45_LocId = Mouse
    Will there be a way to use a different de-limiter in the comma separated list? Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    P

    the trouble is that the comma in the item name messes up with Apex URL structure, since it uses a comma separated list of item names and values..
    You can set another item with the escaped value of the item in Javascript using the escape function(builtin)
    escape( $v('ITEM_NAME'))or in PSLQL using APEX_UTIL.URL_ENCODE or HTF.encode functions
    and then refer that new item in the Branch instead of the old one one(with commas)

  • BUG: Sorting drop-down lists from the field tab when using "specify item values"

    Hi all,
    I've finished creating my form now, but I came across this whilst writing up my documentation for maintenance tasks.
    This occurs when adding new values to a drop-down list that has the "Specify item values" checkbox in the binding tab checked.
    When I then try to sort my list using the built in sort buttons, it will sort the items, but the list of specified values in the binding tab does not sort reorder to stay with the original items in the list.  This is hapenning when I sort from the Object > Field tab.  If I sort in the Object > Binding tab then the sort will include the specified values.
    For example:
    A    5
    C    2
    D    9
    Add a new value to get:
    A    5
    C    2
    D    9
    B    10
    Sort the list using the button:
    A    5
    B    2
    C    9
    D    10
    But it should be:
    A     5
    B     10
    C     2
    D     9

    I was able to duplicate this problem and it looks like a possible bug.  I've submitted it to support.

  • Set item value at other page via URL-redirect

    Hi, I have a button and I want to open a new window with it using an url-target.
    </br>
    </br>
    javascript:window.open ('f?p=&APP_ID.:143:&SESSION.::NO:143:P143_KDT_ID,P143_MESSAGE:&P140_KDT_ID.,&P140_MESSAGE.') </br>
    </br>
    When I use branching I get an error that there is no page to branch to. I don't understand why. As a workaround I use an url-redirect when the button is pressed, but I'm stuck on getting the current item value into the target page. I tried using $v('P140_MESSAGE') but I can't get the url valid.

    Jacob,
    The problem was that when the HTML for the button is rendered, the value of P1_ITEM from session state was "glued in" to the generated URL at that time. If you then entered a value for the iterm, even though your onChange AJAX technique changed the value in session state it was too late to change the already generated HTML for the button, specifically the URL target for the button.
    I created a Set Item2 button on your page with this for the URL attribute:
    javascript:window.open('f?p=&APP_ID.:2:&SESSION.::NO::P2_ITEM:' + document.getElementById('P1_ITEM').value);
    Let me know if that does what you need.
    There is another problem and I don't know the cause. When you click the button, it opens the new window properly but leaves the original page in an error state of some kind. I could not reproduce this in my application using the same js, so I'll be interested in how you solve that.

  • Very intermittent missing page regions / report rows / page item values

    My goals in making this posting are twofold:
    1. I'm looking to see if anyone else has experienced this type of issue before.
    2. I'm looking for ideas about what can be done to debug such an infrequent bug with serious implications.
    Synopsis
    I'm having a weird problem where very infrequently I will load a page and I'll notice that one or more page regions, report rows, or page item values are missing. If I reload the page the missing parts appear as they normally should.
    By "very infrequently" I would say it happens to me somewhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 page loads, of course at my last project demonstration in happened twice in 10 minutes to my demo participants. I've attempted to debug this, but most of the techniques I know of involve reloading the page or reposting the form data and (of course) everything looks fine then.
    Environment
    * This has happened on multiple different pages, under ApEx 3.1 (Linux) and 3.2 (Solaris).
    * I believe that so far I've only ever seen this under Firefox 3/3.5 under OSX, but since I do the vast majority of my development with this browser it's not reasonable to conclude that it only happens under Firefox.
    Logs
    * No application errors during this timeframe.
    * Nothing of significance in the database alerts log (just thread notes and log sequences).
    * Nothing of significance in the webserver log (just the usual mod_ossl connection errors).
    Thanks for your attention,
    Jason
    Edited by: Jason G on Jul 24, 2009 12:43 PM

    Well, thanks for reading the post anyway.
    While working through some debugging steps I realized that I was populating some of the regions as the page rendered using AJAX -- this would pause the page rendering until the AJAX request returned. I believe that a hanging AJAX call was the likely culprit of the very intermittent symptoms I was seeing.
    I moved the AJAX calls to the last region of the page and added a javascript function that "watches the page load" by checking for regions by ID and looking at javascript boolean flags to let me know when the page is fully rendered. If this process takes longer than 5 seconds it notifies the user that something happened and offers to reload the page for them in an effort to fix the issue.
    So far, so good -- but it will take a lot of testing to convince me that this case is solved. I hope my documenting this is helpful for others in similar situations.
    Good luck,
    Jason
