Table header renderer and editor

Hi,
I am making a customised table, in which the column headers are required to be JButton components.I want to catch action events on the headers.Can anyone suggest how should i go about it?
thanx,
regards.

This isn't as easy as it should be because of how the header is drawn. It doesn't create individual header components, it uses one component like a rubber stamp to draw the headers. So it isn't as simple as just sticking in some buttons in the proper place.
Here is a pretty good example that might get you started:

  • Help on Renderer and Editor

    Hi All,
    I am new to Swing and get really confused with the concepts of Renderer and Editor. I don' t really understand what Renderer is, why/when use it and how to use it. Similarly questions for Editor. There are a lot of classes related to renderer, such as TableCellRenderer, DefaultCellRenderer etc and they make me crazy. What makes different when we use Renderer and Editor?
    Thanks.

    Read "Concepts: Editors and Renderers" for JTable at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html#editrender and "Customizing a Tree's Display " for JTree "http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/tree.html#display

  • JTree selection problem when using custom renderer and editor

    Hello:
    I created a JTree with custom renderer and editor.
    The customization makes JCheckBox to be the component
    responsible for editing and rendering.
    The problem is that when I click on the node with the checkbox
    the JTree selection model does not get updated.
    Without customizations of the editor and renderer the MouseEvent would be fired and BasicTreeUI$MouseHandler.mousePressed() method would call
    the selectPathForEvent() method which would be responsible for updating
    the selection model. At the same time if I attach a mouse listener to the JTree (customized) I see the events when clicking on the nodes. It seems like the MouseEvent gets lost and somehow as a result of which the selection model does not get updated.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks
    Alexander

    You probably forgot to call super.getTreeCellRendererComponent(...) at the beginning of your getTreeCellRendererComponent(...) method in your custom renderer.
    Or maybe in the getTreeCellEditorComponent(...) of the TreeCellEditor...

  • Custom table header renderer

    I am trying to make a custom table header. I have seen some examples on the web such as
    <mx:DataGridColumn width="150" dataField="SalePrice"
                    headerRenderer="myComponents.RendererDGHeader"/>
    where that class is a Box
    I also tried to inline it as such:
    <mx:DataGridColumn draggable="false" editable="true" headerText="Source RNC" headerStyleName="tableHeader" dataField="sourceRNC">
         <mx:headerRenderer>
              <fx:Component>
                   <mx:DataGridItemRenderer>
                        <s:Group/>
                   </mx:DataGridItemRenderer>
                 </fx:Component>
         </mx:headerRenderer>
    </mx:DataGridColumn>
    In both these cases I get the following:
    VGroup declaration must be contained within the <Declerations>
    tag since it does not implement mx.core.IUIComponent
    Now clearly it does. Is this a bug or am I doing something
    wrong. My goal is for the table's header to have a combo
    box and a text field below the header's name to put filter
    options on the column(like hide values <5) etc
    Thanks, I know I have been posting a lot of questions lately

    By using s:MXDataGridItemRenderer, your renderer is now using Spark, and in Spark, clipping is not available by default.  You have to set clipAndEnableScrollbars=true on the layout.  Headers are asked for height if variableRowHeight=true, but not width. The width is determined by the DG columns.

  • JTable custom cell renderer and editor breaks row sorting

    Hello Forum,
    I have a JTable on which I set setAutoCreateRowSorter(true); I then hook up a custom cell editor and renderer for the Date class.
    this.tblLeden.setDefaultRenderer(Date.class, new DateCellEditor());
    this.tblLeden.setDefaultEditor(Date.class, new DateCellEditor());
    The sorting for that particular row then breaks, it works fine for every other row. How do I fix this? Just directions where to look would be great too.

  • JCheckBox as nodes in JTree having problems with custom renderer and editor

    Ok, let me give some background. I have an XML document that I am parsing and reading in as a JTree. Works fine.
    Next, I have overwritten the DefaultTreeCellEditor to return a JCheckBox and in this implementation of the getTreeCellEditorComponent(), I actually tell the node that he is selected. Works great.
    Next, I have overwritten the DefaultTreeCellRenderer to return a JCheckBox and in the implementation of the getTreeCellEditorComponenet, I actually check to see if the Node is selected in the tree based upon the isSelected state of the actual Tree Node set in the tree cell editor, and if so, I set the JCheckBox to selected(true).Works Great.
    Now, here is the issue. If a node in the tree is selected that contains children, then I want all of the children of that node to also be selected. However, when I select a node with children only the selected node is changed, and then a few moments later, the system repaints the entire tree and ALL nodes int the tree are set to a selected state. Strange? Yes. Any ideas?? WONDERFUL!! :)
    Here is the TreeCellEditor code:
    public Component getTreeCellEditorComponent(JTree tree,
    Object value,
    boolean isSelected,
    boolean expanded,
    boolean leaf,
    int row)
    elementCheckBox_ = new JCheckBox();
    Component result = null;
    System.out.println("isSelected? Editor = " + isSelected);
    TreePath newPath = tree.getPathForRow(row);
    System.out.println("value = " + value.getClass().toString());
    if(value instanceof IMarketTreeNodeElement)
    if(isSelected)
    if(((IMarketTreeNodeElement)value).isSelected())
    ((IMarketTreeNodeElement)value).setSelected(false);
    else
    ((IMarketTreeNodeElement)value).setSelected(true);
    elementCheckBox_.setSelected(isSelected);
    return elementCheckBox_;
    Here is the TreeCellRenderer code:
    public Component getTreeCellRendererComponent(JTree tree,
    Object value,
    boolean selected,
    boolean expanded,
    boolean leaf,
    int row,
    boolean hasFocus)
    Color colSelBorderCol = UIManager.getColor
    ("Tree.selectionBorderColor");
    selBorder_ = BorderFactory.createLineBorder(colSelBorderCol, 1);
    normBorder_ = BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder(1,1,1,1);
    elementCheckBox_.setText(value.toString());
    if(selected)
    elementCheckBox_.setSelected(selected);
    elementCheckBox_.setForeground(Color.YELLOW);
    elementCheckBox_.setBackground(Color.RED);
    else
    elementCheckBox_.setForeground(tree.getForeground());
    elementCheckBox_.setBackground(tree.getBackground());
    if (hasFocus)
    elementCheckBox_.setBorder(selBorder_);
    else
    elementCheckBox_.setBorder(normBorder_);
    return elementCheckBox_;
    Here is the Node Code setting all child nodes to selected:
    public void setSelected(boolean selected)
    isSelected_ = selected;
    if(isSelected_)
    if((this.getTagName() == "MARKET") ||
    (this.getTagName() == "TIER") &&
    (this.getChildCount() != 0))
    selectChildren(true);
    else
    if((this.getTagName() == "MARKET") ||
    (this.getTagName() == "TIER") &&
    (this.getChildCount() != 0))
    selectChildren(false);
    public boolean isSelected()
    return isSelected_;
    public void selectChildren(boolean selected)
    int children = getChildCount();
    for(int i = 0; i < children; i++)
    IMarketTreeNodeElement elem = (IMarketTreeNodeElement)
    this.getChildNodes().item(i);
    isSelected_ = selected;
    Thanks for any help! :-)

    I tried to run your sample code and it won't compile. The header files:
    #include
    #include
    #include
    #include
    #include
    do not exist on my install of MeasurementStudio. I am a bit suspicous that I don't have the latest and greatest (loading the dialong resouce gave version warnings). Here is one of my header file headers:
    //==============================================================================
    // Title : NiAxes3d.h
    // Copyright : National Instruments 1999. All Rights Reserved.
    // Purpose : Defines the CNiAxes3D class.
    //==============================================================================
    I
    looked on your updates site and don't really see an update that applies to ComponentWorks or MeasurementStudio. My version per the MAX program for 3DControls is 3.5.549.
    Do I need a newer version? What do I have to do to get the updated version? What does it cost?

  • NESTED TABLES,,Header data and Item data

    How to arrange them in the hierarchy view?
    How to put a condition on the item table so that only corresponding items  from the item table will be shown for each header.
    header table data 1211
                      1212
    item table data is 1211  10
                       1211  20
                       1212  10
                       1212 20
    so final output should be
    1211
    1211  10
    1211  20
    1212
    1212  10
    1212  20.
    So how to put this condition?
    Can you please help me
    Regards
    sasi

    Hi,
    If you designing the form using SFP Transaction, then you have to set the where clause on the item table in the context.
    In the SFP context drag the header table from interface.drag the item table from interface on the DATA in the header table. it will placed at the end of the header table. Now select the item table select where clause in the properties ( at the bottom of the screen ).there you create a line for condition using create button. drag the field from header table field ( say header-matnr ) on the right side and then drag the same field from the item table ( say item-matnr) in the left side.This will filter the item records relevent for header record.
    In the layout, design the table as I explained in the forum message .( search forum with text "Nested Tables and Multiple Pages" )

    I have created a JTable with one Column have the Custom TableCellRender, and TableCellEditor
    Which has the a JPanel with one lable and a button.
    Problem is:
    I have to edit the content of table by clicking the button, i will select some data from another dialog,
    if i select that data the cell contenet is not updating, and i can not able to select any other cell in the table.
    if i resize the colomn the above problem will solve.
    Please help on this to fix

    Hello,
    Very sorry but it is difficult to understand your problem.
    Anyway you should have a careful look on Sun's Tutorial for JTable:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html
    Be patient as JTable are complex components.
    Good luck, Frank

  • Add a Button in a table header Webdynpro

    Hi all,
    how can'i add a button in a table header ? and how/where schould be implemented?
    thank you all

    Hi,
    If you want to create Some custom buttons in ALV, you need to write some coding.
    Please go through this...
    ALV with user-defined buttons on toolbar in wd abap
    Re: Adding custom button in standard toolbar in ALV
    If you want to create button is table toolbar. steps :
    1. create TABLE UI Element in view - go to ROOT UI ELEMENT CONTAINER( right side here you find inserted Table ) - Right click on that ->you fined one option INSERT TOOLBAR, click this-> it will insert Toolbar again right click on this tool bar-> You wil find insert
    toolbar element->select Toolbar button. It will insert toolbar and buttons.
    Cheers,

  • Fill Internal Table for Table Header EQUI - Long Time

    Good morning,
    I have installed DMIS (2006_1_620) and DMIS_CNT (2006_1_620), both at the level of SP = 13.
    I am running the subactivity "Fill Internal Table for Table Header EQUI" and have 1 day + 10 hours and continue working.
    Also note that the table CNVTDMS_05_equi  is increased million in millions and now has 6 million records.
    It is normal to take a long time? (EQUI table has 240 million records and therefore will take many days).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Hugo

    Hello Hugo,
    I know this is old , but did you ever find a solution to this.  I am having the same problem.  I considered adding an index to table QMIH, with Keys MANDT and BEQUI.
    I also only have one bckgrd proc running in sender systems with this statement when I drill in using SM50:
    SELECT
    /*+
      FIRST_ROWS (1)
    FROM
      "QMIH"
    WHERE
      "MANDT"=:A0 AND "BEQUI"=:A1 AND ROWNUM <=:A2 #
    This has been running for over 8hrs now.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

  • Table Header not Recurring - when Generate PDF from HTML with tables

    Hello,  It is not working as expected...and I'm not sure if the functionality is supported.  Want to create PDF from html document. The html document contains a html table that typically contains a large number of rows.  To make reading easier the html table used thead and tbody elements, and their children, so that when the table extends across pages when printed the header element recurs on each page.  However, the header element is not recurring in the generated PDF document (it only occurs in the first row of the table).  Just wondering if you have tried or used this functionality (created PDF from html with table with headers and the PDF included the table with recurring table header.  And if so, did you do anything special to make it work.  Thanks for any insight.

    If there's a problem with that package, I suggest you speak to the developer of that package and ask them to investigate.  It's not an Oracle supplied package so you are wrong to look for help here.

  • In SSRS , after exporting report in excel,wrap text property for cell and freeze column for SSRS table header not working in Excel

    I am working no one SSRS my table headers are freeze cangrow property is false and my report is working perfect while rendering data on RDL and i want same report after exporting in Excel also , i want my table header to be freeze and wrap text property
    to work after exporting in my report in excel but its not working ,is there any solution ? any patch ? any other XML code for different rendering ?

    Hi Amol,
    According to your description, you find the wrap text property and fix column is not working after exporting into Excel. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when exporting to excel file, it has limitation for textbox.
    Text boxes are rendered within one Excel cell. Font size, font face, decoration, and font style are the only formatting that is supported on individual text within an Excel cell.
    Excel adds a default padding of approximately 3.75 points to the left and right sides of cells. If a text box’s padding settings are less than 3.75 points and is just barely wide enough to accommodate the text, the text may wrap in Excel.
    In this scenario, it supposed to be wrap text unless you merge cells. If cells are merged, word-wrap does not work correctly. If any merged cells exist on a row where a text box is rendered with the
    AutoSize property, autosize will not work. For the Fix Data Property, it can't be working in Excel. These are features when exporting to Excel. We can't change it because it's by design.

    Exporting to Microsoft Excel (Report Builder and SSRS)
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    So, the header ends up rendered as an empty label (probably of size 0 if the JTable computes its header size based on the renderer's preferred size).nitpicking (can't resist - the alternative is a cleanup round in some not so nice code I produced recently <g>):
    - it's not the JTable's business to compute its headers size (and it doesn't, the header's the culprit.) *> - the header should never come up with a zero (or near-to) height: even if there is no title shown, it's still needed as grab to resize/move the columns. So I would consider this sizing behaviour a bug.*
    - furthermore, the "really zero" height is a longstanding issue with MetalBorder.TableHeaderBorder (other LAFs size with the top/bottom of their default header cell border) which extends AbstractBorder incorrectly. That's easy to do because AbstractBorder itself is badly implemented

  • JTABLE  Number Editor - Table Cell Renderer Clash

    Hello gentlemen,
    I have a JTABLE with an editable column 1. I implement a number editor and a table cell renderer (pls see below) to this column. I apply the setClickCountStart(2) method to the number editor in order to render each cell in the column editable only after two clicks. However, I believe setClickCountStart(2) is somehow overridden by a "default" functionality in my
    CustomTableCellRenderer.
    My problem is that any cell I select (click only once) in column1 is automatically editable whereas I only want a cell to be editable after two clicks.
    Please see my code below. Any comment is more than welcome!
    Cheers.
    hoodNumberEditor = new NumberEditor();
            hoodNumberEditor.setClickCountToStart(2);
            class CustomTableCellRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer {
                public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table,
                        Object obj, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column) {
                    Component cell = super.getTableCellRendererComponent(
                            table, obj, isSelected, hasFocus, row, column);
                    if (isSelected) {
                        cell.setBackground(Color.white);
                        cell.setForeground(Color.black);
                    return cell;
           CustomTableCellRenderer customrenderer = new CustomTableCellRenderer();
            table.getColumn(1).setCellRenderer(customrenderer);
            table.getColumn(1).setCellEditor(hoodNumberEditor);

    1) Your custom cell renderer does nothing extra, so you can depend on default renderer.
    2) Instead of extending JLabel and implementing TableCellReneder, you should extend DefaultTableCellRenderer and override its get renderer method because DefaultTableCellRenderer itself extends JLabel and aditionally it does some optimizations etc., which you can miss if you implement your own renderer.
    3) If you set foreground and background color in last else statement also, then you can see the values correctly in windows L&F as well.
    Thanks!

  • I want to create an internal table without using header line and occurs 0?

    hi experts,
    Can anybody help me to declare an internal table without using headerline and occurs 0 options but still i have to use the functionalities that occurs 0 and header line options provide.

    Hi Saisri,
    You can use the internal table without headerline and create a header for then internal table with the same structure. We need to use the header while manipulating with the data of the internal table.
    example:
    types: begin of ty_afpo,
                 kdauf type kdauf,
                 kdpos type kdpos,
                 ltrmp   type ltrmp,
               end   of ty_afpo.
    data : t_afpo type standard table of ty_afpo,  " internal table declaration
             wa_afpo type ty_afpo.                        " work area declaration
    <after populating the data into the internal table>
    loop at t_afpo into wa_afpo.
    write:/ wa_afpo-kdauf, wa_afpo-kdpos, wa_afpo-ltrmp.
    endloop.
    This I think shall give you a basic understanding of how things work.
    <b>Reward points if this helps,</b>
    Kiran
