Table Import Data - "Insert script" - National characters

Hi all,
it looks like that there is a problem with support of national characters in imported data file when method "Insert script" is chosen.
Table -> Import Data -> Open datafile "csv".
As far as in the preview window I'm seeing properly displayed national characters from csv data file and when I'm choosing "Insert" or "SQL Loader" method - data is properly imported to the table.
But when I'm using "Insert script" method, in generated script national characters are changed into "bushes":

  • Dynamic creation of tables and data insertion in BODS

    Specific requirement : We need to extract multiple tables from ERP system and stage them in BODS SQL server database.
    As the need is for lot of tables , we want to come up with a generic Job which can be used for all the tables which have different sructures.
    So BODS Job should create tables on the fly and also load data into different tables not having same structure. We can maintain a config table of all the tables to be extracted.
    Any ideas?

    Dirk,
    The job should be generic to cater to n number of tables , we are looking at one job where the source /Target structures are not imported so that it becomes generic and we don't know the count of tables that we will be extracting . We just like one job , which can extract tables as and when we add table names in the config table.......

  • Alphanumeric data in EDIFACT: national characters

    We are trying to send outgoing EDIFACT ORDERS (using UNOC) that contain Swedish characters. This fails with the error:
    Element IMD040 data type must be 'Alphanumeric'
    With UNOC the message should be able to contain the Swedish characters, which can be verified in SpecBuilder by looking at actions-edifact.ecs and the character sets. I have tried to change the default encoding in B2B, but that makes no difference. The messages in AQ (the standard queue) are coded in UTF-8 and look just fine on inspection using SQL.
    What should we do in order to fix this? Is there a codelist somewhere that defines the characters that should be considered alphanumeric, or is there another option than oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding that should be used for the encoding?
    I think we have the latest patch (MLR#5) installed, if not it is MLR#4.

    We found the issue and managed to work around it.
    Apparently BPEL sends the payload as UTF-8 using the AQ adapter. B2B (when configured with ISO-8859-1 as encoding) tries to process the UTF-8 characters as ISO-8859-1 and fails. Alternatively if B2B is configured to use UTF-8 the solution described above does not work, perhaps the EDIFACT file is not allowed to contain UTF-8 characters.
    One solution is to enqueue the message opaque from BPEL and convert to ISO-8859-1 as part of the base64 encoding step. If that is done and B2B is configured to use ISO-8859-1 all is well.

    why do not try with expdp/impdp remap_tablespace?
    REMAP_TABLESPACEDefault: none
    Purpose
    Remaps all objects selected for import with persistent data in the source tablespace to be created in the target tablespace.
    Syntax and Description
    REMAP_TABLESPACE=source_tablespace:target_tablespace
    Multiple REMAP_TABLESPACE parameters can be specified, but no two can have the same source tablespace. The target schema must have sufficient quota in the target tablespace.
    Note that use of the REMAP_TABLESPACE parameter is the only way to remap a tablespace in Data Pump Import. This is a simpler and cleaner method than the one provided in the original Import utility. In original Import, if you wanted to change the default tablespace for a user, you had to perform several steps, including exporting and dropping the user, creating the user in the new tablespace, and importing the user from the dump file. That method was subject to many restrictions (including the number of tablespace subclauses) which sometimes resulted in the failure of some DDL commands.
    By contrast, the Data Pump Import method of using the REMAP_TABLESPACE parameter works for all objects, including the user, and it works regardless of how many tablespace subclauses are in the DDL statement.
    Example
    The following is an example of using the REMAP_TABLESPACE parameter.
    impdp hr/hr REMAP_TABLESPACE='tbs_1':'tbs_6' DIRECTORY=dpump_dir1 PARALLEL=2JOB_NAME=cf1n02 DUMPFILE=employees.dmp NOLOGFILE=Y

  • Using  FDM Import Action script to import data from ERPI table "tdataseg_t"

    Hi Experts
    I have extracted data from EBS using ERPI and loaded into the intermediate table "tdataseg_t"
    I am trying to use Import Action script within FDM to extract data from "tdataseg_t" table (where ERPI extract data is stored) as i could not use the normal import script.
    Requirement : I have to restrict the custom 2 dimension based on Account dimension.
    Dim Account
    Account = ???? ( i am struck here)
    If Account = 1000 to 5000 Then
    Custom2 = Right( product , 5)
    End If
    but , I could not find the exact syntax to call the Account dimension from the "tdataseg_t" table.
    Please Advise
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Importing data via a manual script defeats the purpose of ERPi. As it will not provide you an audit trail, drill-through/drill-back, etc.
    Your best bet is to use the default settings by the software. Just because it returns more records than you want is not a bad thing. You can conditionally change/alter the information either in an EventScript inside of FDM or by mapping the un-needed information to IGNORE.
    Thank you,

  • How to import data from a text file into a table

    Hello,
    I need help with importing data from a .csv file with comma delimiter into a table.
    I've been struggling to figure out how to use the "Import from Files" wizard in Oracle 10g web-base Enterprise Manager.
    I have not been able to find a simple instruction on how to use the Wizard.
    I have looked at the Oracle Database Utilities - Overview of Oracle Data Pump and the Help on the "Import: Files" page.
    Neither one gave me enough instruction to be able to do the import successfully.
    Using the "Import from file" wizard, I created a Directory Object using the Create Directory Object button. I Copied the file from which i needed to import the data into the Operating System Directory i had defined in the Create Directory Object page. I chose "Entire files" for the Import type.
    Step 1 of 4 is the "Import:Re-Mapping" page, I have no idea what i need to do on this page. All i know i am not tying to import data that was in one schema into a different schema and I am not importing data that was in one tablespace into a different tablespace and i am not R-Mapping datafiles either. I am importing data from a csv file.
    For step 2 of 4, "Import:Options" page, I selected the same directory object i had created.
    For step 3 of 4, I entered a job name and a description and selected Start Immediately option.
    What i noticed going through the wizard, the wizard never asked into which table do i want to import the data.
    I submitted the job and I got ORA-31619 invalid dump file error.
    I was sure that the wizard was going to fail when it never asked me into which table do i want to import the data.
    I tried to use the "imp" utility in command-line window.
    After I entered (imp), i was prompted for the username and the password and then the buffer size as soon as i entered the min buffer size I got the following error and the import was terminated:

    I was able to import the data into a table in MSSQLServer database and I can say that anybody with no experience could easily do an export/import in MSSQLServer 2000.
    I appreciate if someone could show me how to the import from a file into a table!

    Help on export Sybase iq 16 tables with data and import into another database ?

    Hi Nilesh,
    If you have table/index create commands (DDLs), you can create them in Developper and import data using one of methods below
    Extract/ Load table
    Insert location method : require IQ servers to be entered in interfaces file
    Backup/Restore : copy entire database content
    If you have not the DDLs, you can generate them using IQ cockpit or SCC.

  • How-To "Refresh a table of data after inserting or deleting"

    I'd like to say a word on the how-to article "How to refresh a table of data after inserting or deleting a row using ADF".
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/updtable/index.html?_template=/ocom/technology/content/print)
    I spent a lot of time on it because I needed help in implementing simple CRUD functionality on a table, using JSF-ADF-TopLink technologies.
    While the the article does provide correct steps, it is in one important place not specific enough, so the reader may easily get stuck. In section "Refresh the data table", point 1: when you double click on the removeEntity() button, in Structure window, then you do not get the required dialog. You get CommandButton Properties dialog.
    You must click on the removeEntity() button in Editor's Design view. But even there you may get the CommandButton Properties dialog, not managed beans dialog.
    You may resolve that by going to JSF configuration file, faces-config.xml, and switch to Overview view. This will show you the managed beans that you have.
    Then, you may already have a backing bean for the page. You can use that and avoid creating a new managed bean.
    I could understand what the operations mean only after very careful reading of "Creating More Complex Pages", section "Overriding Declarative Methods" in JDeveloper Help (or in ADF Developer's Guide PDF document).
    In general: I believe that "ADF bindings" need more conceptual explanation, maybe in form of an article. Grammatical form "bindings" may create a false understanding that "bindings" are just references. But they are not -- ADF bindings are active objects that handle traffic between UI components and Data Controls. It seems that "bindings" even communicate among themselves. Maybe it would be more understandable to differentiate strictly between "binding objects" (or "binders"?), binding object definitions and binding object references.
    It would be very helpful to have a diagram showing grahically what specific binder objects are created in a small apllication (2-3 pages using 1-2 tables), with whom they communicate and what type of data is passed on.

    Hi
    Thanks for your infos.
    Yes exactly I use almost the same code you have post here.
    Could You answer to my next questions?
    First - >what do you mean by saying that "it's not good idea using refreshing in IE?" Of course I use refreshing in backing_bean for my button "remove" that removes row, commit changes to database and refresh table, almost the same as You said in your post:
    Code in backing_bean is and comments on difference to Your code is below:
    public commandButton2_action1(){
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding =
    bindings.getOperationBinding("removeEntity");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return null;
    //above remove entity, but I dont now if it do commit to database? So i do it below
    OperationBinding commit1 = bindings.getOperationBinding("Commit");
    commit1.execute();
    //and at the end I refresh my table, "findAllRezerwacja1 - it is an id of the methodAction, not the iterator -> is it ok? or should I change to Iterator id?
    OperationBinding requery = bindings.getOperationBinding("findAllRezerwacja1");
    requery.execute();
    return null;
    Page Definition code for this:
    <methodAction id="findAllRezerwacja1"
    InstanceName="SessionEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal" MethodName="findAllRezerwacja"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999"
    ReturnName="SessionEJBLocal.methodResults.SessionEJBLocal_dataProvider_findAllRezerwacja_result"/>
    <table id="findAllRezerwacja2" IterBinding="findAllRezerwacja1Iter">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="dataDo"/>
    <Item Value="dataOd"/>
    <Item Value="idRezerwacja"/>
    <Item Value="liczbaUczestnikow"/>
    <Item Value="prowadzacy"/>
    <Item Value="uwagi"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </table>
    <methodAction id="removeEntity" InstanceName="SessionEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal" MethodName="removeEntity"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999">
    <NamedData NDName="entity"
    NDValue="${bindings.findAllRezerwacja2.currentRow.dataProvider}"
    NDType="java.lang.Object"/>
    </methodAction>
    <action id="Commit" IterBinding="findAllRezerwacja1Iter"
    InstanceName="SessionEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="2"/>
    </bindings>
    //and rest of code for Iterator etc
    My second question is, why when you use refresh button in IE (I know is not recommended as You said, but sometimes user do it, so I want prevent situations that I will describe here) so when I press refresh button in IE exactly after removing one row by clicking my button, refreshing by pressing IE button is doing the same --> is deleting next row. How to stop deleting row, when for example user would press IE refresh button after pressing remove button for table. If I change selection in table after deleting row, and press refresh button in IE, instead of deleting row, I got error message: JBO-29000: JBO-35007: and
    JBO-35007. So where Im doing wrong. Maybe I should do sth with postback ? Could You help me? Thanks in advance
    Last one question: what is the difference between using delete and removeEntity from operations node? Im now reading carefully ADF Dev Guide, so I hope I can find infos there? But if You know, please answer to this question.
    Thanks

    Is it possible to import data from excel to an oracle table using a stored procedure?

    Hello Joseph,
    the database (server) usually has no access on your PC (client).
    I recommend that you transfer the file to the server via FTP and then you can use heterogeneous services to read directly from the file.
    If your server is running on Windows too you can use ODBC to connect

  • How to make an insert script for CLOB data types?

    I need to have an insert script for Oracle 11g where I insert large texts into a CLOB field
    I exported data from a source table using TOAD's export dataset and the insert statements option, so it generates a script of just simple insert into statements with the clob strings in the values clause within single quotes.
    While most of the inserts succeed, several fail with the error: string literal too long
    How can I insert long texts into clobs?
    One workaround I was considering, is maybe breaking up those inserts which are too big, so that it inserts a chunk, and then does an update to append additional chunks? not sure if that would work either
    first wanted to get any ideas from the oracle experts here in case there is a much easier, non-manual labor intensive way.

    Thank you for that informative link, Raj
    I wouldn't be able to use SQL Loader for this though, this is something that gets submitted to a DBA in a request and it must be in a script that can be run in Sql Plus, and it cannot pull it from a table or file.

  • Losing NATIONAL CHARACTERS(blob- clob- table). unistr?

    Hello!
    I have a problem with national characters. My example is as follows:
    1. A csv file is uploaded from disk to htmldb_application_files
    2. This BLOB is then converted to CLOB with dbms_lob.converttoclob()
    3. Data from this CLOB is copied to PL/SQL array.
    4. From PL/SQL array to table in database.
    The problem: Either data copied to table in database loses national characters (display strange characters instead of national), or if I set my national character set id as an argument of dbms_lob.converttoclob() function I have an error - says that file is inconvertible.
    What is wrong? How can I solve my problem? Can unistr() help somewhere? Any ideas?
