Hi,
Ummm... OK - the same thing started happening to me as well :(
I've tried various things, and the following seems to work ok:
<a href="javascript:openPage2();">Open page 2</a>
<script type="text/javascript">
function openPage2()
var x = open('page2.html', 'x', 'height=200,width=400,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no', false);
if (x.opener == null) {x.opener = self;}
x.focus();
</script>and the Close option should be:
<button onclick="javascript:window.close();">Close</button>So, change the url to call a function and make sure the function is defined in a similar way to the above.

  • Help needed in row selection in Tabular form across pages

    Hi,
    I have a tabular form report similar to http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:95. I want to select some rows from first page and then use the pagination to get to the next page, select some more rows and hit the submit button for processing. The rows selected in the last page alone are picked up for processing, and the ones selected in the earlier pages are lost. I see the same behaviour in Denes' example as well. I picked a row in the first page and a row in the next page, and then click "Pick Records", i see only the record i picked on the second page.
    I did play around with "partial page refresh" setting for the tabular form region, but that does not help.
    Is there a way to select across pages in a tabular form?
    thanks,
    Rams

    Okay. I could make this work, but this seems to be a roundabout way for me. In my case I dont have any database related query to get the values, hence the Application level process may not be needed.
    When I select the checkbox, i get the value. I am hoping that I should be able to send the value to a javascript function and update the filed value in the function itself. Please see the function below..
    function setFileID(pThis) {
    var chkvals=pThis.value;
    var fldValue = new $x('f_FILELIST').value ;
    if (fldValue != 0)
    { $x('f_FILELIST').value= fldValue+'-'+chkvals;}
    else
    { $x('f_FILELIST').value = chkvals ;}
    This function works fine in making up the list. The issue is, when an already selected row is unselected, the value of the checkbox gets added one more time :) If I detect the checkbox status and subtract the corresponding value, this will be perfect..
    Thanks for the link anyway. I am marking this question answered.
    regards,
    Rams.

  • How to retain value in LoV item in Tabular Form, after Page Refresh

    Hi,
    I have a tabular form, which contains 2 items(columns), of type "Select List - named LoV".
    Now, 2nd item(column) in tabular form, that LoV should get populated based on user's selection value in first item LoV.
    1. So how do I refer to the value, that user selected in first item's LoV? I will have to use this value as reference in LoV query of my 2nd item ( on this tabular form)
    2. Everytime I select value in first item LoV, page gets refreshed, as my requirement is to calculate 2nd item's LoV based on selected value in first item. So after this page refresh, first item LoV loses its value that was selected before the page refresh happened. So how do i retain this value in first item LoV? I have an unconditional process, that on every submit(refresh) of page, I set all my items with their corresponding values. But problem is what do i mention there to refer to this first item ( of type LoV) of tabular form?
    I looked in view source of my page, this item is referred as f03.
    So i used "apex_application.g_f03", to set this item to its value, in my uncoditional submit process. But it did not work. I tried to refer this item as "f03" in this unconditional submit process. But still it did not help, the selected item loses its value after page refresh(submit).
    Please help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.

    Hi Rave,
    You will have to use Javascript and Ajax to change the values as ApEx submissions will lose your results unless they are saved into the database.
    Remember, that as you are using a tabular form there will be lots of items called f01, fo2, fo3 etc on the page (one per row).
    Regards

  • Tabular Form based on table with lots of columns - how to avoid scrollbar?

    Hi everybody,
    I'm an old Forms and VERY new APEX user. My problem is the following: I have to migrate a form application to APEX.
    The form is based on a table with lots of columns. In Forms you can spread the data over different tab pages.
    How can I realize s.th similar in APEX? I definitely don't want to use a horizontal scroll bar...
    Thanks in advance
    Hilke

    If the primary key is created by the user themselves (which is not recommended, you should have another ID which the user sees which would be the varchar2 and keep the primary key as is, the user really shouldn't ever edit the primary key) then all you need to do is make sure that the table is not populated with a primary key in the wizard and then make sure that you cannot insert a null into your varchar primary key text field.
    IF you're doing it this way I would make a validation on the page which would run off a SQL Exists validation, something along the lines of
    SELECT <primary key column>
    FROM <your table>
    WHERE upper(<primary key column>) = upper(<text field containing user input>);
    and if it already exists, fire the validation claiming that it already exists and to come up with a new primary key.
    Like I said if you really should have a primary key which the database refers to each individual record itself and then have an almost pseudo-primary key that the user can use. For example in the table it would look like this:
    TABLE1
    table_id (this is the primary key which you should NOT change)
    user_table_id (this is the pretend primary key which the user can change)
    other_columns
    etc
    etc
    hope this helps in some way

  • Custom Tabular form - Session state values disappear

    Hi,
    I have a custom tabular form page using apex_item and apex_collections. I am using the apex_collection to store the values in memory in order to avoid the data loss in session state. The page is working fine after a validation failure and it shows the values on the second report (as advised for custom tabular forms).
    In this, some of the rows have clob value which needs to be edit on a rich text editor. Since apex_item does not provide a solution to have rich text editor, I have to branch to another page on an Edit link for the CLOB data using a modal window. However When I return back from the modal page, the values disappear from session state, and the validation (using htmldb_application.g_fxx arrays) does not take place.
    Is there any workaround to overcome this issue?
    Apex version: 4.1
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Daniel for your reply.
    Actually its an interface with a custom tabular form on page 1 with apex collections and rich text editor on page 2. Since it is not possible to have the rich text editor, I need to have it in another page (I could have it the same page, that is the way I am trying now) however I open the next page as a modal window.
    I have a link on the tabular form, so that the clob content is opened in the rich text editor on the next page. After the edit, I update it to the same collection and go back to the tabular form page and refreshes the report. It works fine, but causes trouble to the data entered on the other columns in the custom tabular form.
    I have now deviated to another work and put this on a hold. If my explanation is still not clear, I will create the same page in apex.com to simulate the error.
    Thanks again.

  • Custom Tabular Form addRow function

    Hi All
    There appears to be a lot of people discussing this on the forum, but so far, I haven't been able to find a solution.
    I have a custom tabular form and I need to add and Add Row button to create multiple blank rows without submitting the page. I have previously used a solution devised by Duncs many moons ago, that basically clones a row.
    http://djmein.blogspot.co.uk/2007/12/add-delete-row-from-sql-based-tabular.html
    Unfortunately, this basic method doesnt work for popup_lov apex items, nor will it increment ID numbers.
    Ideally I would like to be able to use the addRow function that is used for a Tabular Form built using the Wizards; however, that function uses a ghost row as described in this forum thread:
    "Ghost row" in 4.0 Tabular forms has id pattern f0x_0000
    If it were possible to replicate that ghost row in a custom tabular form, then I guess that it would be possible to use the apex addRow function out of the box!?
    Before I start re-inventing the wheel, has anone aready done this, or can you point me in the right direction please.
    I hope that makes sense :)
    Shunt
    I'm using Apex 4.02 11g and will be upgrading to 4.2 in the near future; woohoo.

    Thanks Daniel for your reply.

  • Date popup validation in manual tabular form

    Hey all-
    I'm creating a tabular form manually (i.e., with apex_collection) per instructions at OBE (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/ppt/odtug2008_marcie_young.pdf). Working fine, except I'm having a problem with apex_item.date_popup.
    One of the fields I need to collect from the tabular form is a date. For the SQL report, the relevant item is apex_item.date_popup(9, null, c008, 'YYYY-MM-DD', 20, 10) (and c008 is the relevant column from the collection). The trouble comes in if a user types a bogus date into the date popup. I have validation code to check this, but before running that code, I have to store the user's new entries into the collection. So basically my steps are:
    1. display the tabular form w/ a SQL report containing apex_item.date_popup
    2. use an update collection PL/SQL process to store the user data into the collection (process point = On Submit and Before Computation)
    3. use a validation PL/SQL process to verify the data in the collection before processing the update
    All that works, and the validation identifies the bad date. But then the page tries to render the tabular form again (so the user can fix the bad date), but the apex_item.date_popup(9, null, c008, 'YYYY-MM-DD', 20, 10) column fails b/c of the bad date. I need a way to programmatically create a date popup and populate it with (potentially) invalid data. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Problem solved. Tossed the lackluster apex_item.date_popup and replaced w/ jQuery datepicker.

  • How can I use two tabular forms on the same page.

    I have create one tabular form in page and try to create second tabular form so
    it gives below error.
    1 error has occurred Updatable SQL Query already exists on page XXXXX.
    You can only add one updatable SQL query per page. Select a different page.

    I can get this to work but the page is submitted, either when I use a button with URL link or from a link on a display only text field.
    Is this how it is supposed to work? I thought it was supposed to work just on the browser so it is fast.
    IGNORE THIS!

    I resolved it easily by modifying the URL from f?p=blah blah to #LINK_NAME

    I understand that the add row button is currently doing a submit.
    To not submit the page you need a dynamic action on the page.
    Does the javascript function addRow do what you want?
    Otherwise have a look at the following two threads Add row in manual tabular form using dynamic action and Accessing Tabular Form & Add Elements to Collection without Page Submit.
    You're process could be something like:
    Add the new values to the collection using the idea's in the second thread and at the same time add the new row.
    And as second action refresh your tabular form.
    If you get stuck set up what you have done on apex.oracle.com using the tables from the demo application.

  • Read Only page/region attribute - Tabular form

    APEX 4.2.1/Oracle 11.1
    The new readonly attribute at the page and region level works very nicely to make a page readonly without having to set the readonly condition individually on each page item. Great job.
    But I noticed that tabular form inputs don't honor this setting. Is there a easy way to make a tabular form readonly as well i.e. make it look like a classic report instead of showing input (even disabled) fields?
    I guess we can clone the region as a classic report region and conditionally show one or the other but that's not ideal from a maintenance perspective.
    Thanks

    Marc - Thanks for logging the enhancement request. Couple of observations
    1. The Copy Region wizard allows us to copy a tabular form region (along with its associated processes and buttons) but running the page raises errors since APEX only allows one tabular form per page. Perhaps the Copy Region wizard should check for this
    2. Most tabular form regions are customized after the wizard creates them. Column headings are changed, display types, number/date formats, column links, etc. Re-doing all this to create a copy of the tabular form region as a classic report region is a bit of a chore. Maybe you can think of a easier way to do this in 5.0. Really all that needs to happen is change the Display As for all the tabular form INPUT fields to Display as Text and preserve all other customizations.
    Thanks

  • Help with Tabular form

    Hi
    I am using Apex 4.01 in Oracle 10g
    I need a solution for tabular form issue.
    I am creating a tabular form for a table with 5 colums.
    col1: Primary key
    Col2: seqnumber
    col3: Varchar
    col3: date
    col4: Date
    its a kind of time scheduling.
    I created a tabular form with 3 updatable fields. col 3,4,5
    since its a tabular form the user can add a new row and submit to insert the new row into the table,
    so the primary key (Col1) is automatically doing its seq generator and inserting the key.
    But what I have to do is with col2,
    if the col3 value is not in the table then col2 should insert 1
    if col3 value is already in the table then col2 should insert 2 (incremnt by 1) and so on..
    so this value of col2 should be determined basedon col3.
    How to do that for Tabular form in Apex.
    Thanks,
    Rik

    It doesnt matter how you add a row in APEX application. Internally APEX issues INSERT or UPDATE statements when you submit the page. This in turn triggers your DB triggers and you can do your stuff in the DB trigger. If there is no need to refer page item you don't have to as long as all the fields are DB fields.
    I hope I answered your question.

  • Creating a complex tabular form manually

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a tabular form manually. The tabular form consists of
    rows , with each row containing
    1. Select List (of employee names)
    2. JOB (Text box)
    3. Salary (text box)
    I have a add button to add a row, a row similar in appearance to the above, i.e it consists of a select list of "employee names", "job" text box and "salary" text box.
    I should to be able to specify the id for these items in each row that I add, I need to specify id for each item in each row that I add since, there is a lov image attached to each row, that would capture any data entered by the user in that row and take him to a popup page with the values specified in the main page.
    Can anyone tell me how to specify id to the items I add (i.e when I create a new row).I also dont find any id created to the items in the form that I have created manually. Please note i am using the APEX_ITEM package to create the tabular form manually.

    Hi Andy,
    I would like to explain what I have done and kindly let me know if this is right.
    I created a tabular multirow form using APEX built in component, since I wanted to add validations and I could not get a handle to UpdateMRU, I decided to create the tabular multirow forms manually using the example on the APEX howtos link.
    I find that the multirow form which i created manually does not have any id associated with the items.
    1. Please let me know if I need to add validations is there only one way i.e to create the multi row tabular form manually?
    2.How do I specify the ids for each item. The APEX_ITEM APIs dont provide any way to add ids to items?
    3.Is it possible to add validations to the multi row form generated using APEX wizard?In the sense , for eg, I have the employee table presented as multi row table, when a user adds a new row or modifies an existing row, he should not be allowed to add an employee with the same name, Now where do I do this valiation and how can I show the error against that row?
    4. What I need to do further is. I have an image on each row (akin to a button) that would spring up a popup page with search options , so that I can repopulate values back into the parent page, to do this I need to pass the ids of the ITEMS to and fro from the parent to the child and back.
    I would like to understand how to approach the above issues.
    Would appreciate if you could let me know on the same.
    Thanks.

  • PK Columns in Tabular Form not able to hide

    Hello everyone,
    I'm running Apex 2.0 on 10.2.0.1 Standard Edition. When I create a tabular form on a table with a primary and secondary key, the primary and secondary key columns appear in the actual tabular form, despite the "show" checkbox being unchecked in the "report attributes" page. Is this a bug? or am I missing something? thanks for your help.
    - kenny r.

    The wizard creates additional display-only columns with the alias PK_DISPLAY. Try unchecking the Show checkbox on that column as well.

  • Simple question about tabular forms: error in MRU

    hi to all,
    i write here to check if what i think about tabular forms is confirmed.
    If i build a master- detail or tabular form and the underlying table are modified, the page where the tabulare form is contained doesn't work anymore.
    if what i've written above is correct, is there a way to realign the fields of the tabular forms to the db fields and make my page work again without rebuilding all?
    Can i modify something, somewhere inside apex to make my page run again?
    The error i get (in italian / english)
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Errore in MRU: riga= 0, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: La versione corrente dei dati nel database è cambiata da quando l'utente ha iniziato il processo di aggiornamento. checksum corrente = "ED73B05FA6016F8D5F3B4B5B69AF482D", checksum elementi = "CFD72DCC4221A340057D654B54EA7A04"., update "NEWPROJ"."CNT_VAL_SEG_DEMO" set "ID" = :b1, "FK_CNT" = :b2
    Means: The version of data in db (fields of the tables?) has changed since the user started the update process.
    By the way this sentence under my opinion can trick you as
    in italian 'La versione corrente dei dati nel database'
    can means both that data contained in tables have changed (dml error / process error / data the user see not are the real underlying data). Can mean as well the field definition is changed, however a more meaningful message in italian is: ' la definizione delle tabelle usate dall'oggetto tabular form é cambiata'.
    That translated in english is ' DDL of table/s used by tabular form has changed'.
    thanx a lot

    HI Heinz,
    yes is now clear, however is a pity that a litte change in the query has a lot of
    implications: a change in the structure of DB means new feature / the data model is not alligned with current requirement. So usually (but not always) it means changing the SELECT as well.
    Such Apex is a Rad an impression is that if you build a complex forms with several linked reports / field and one day you have to change the query of the TABULAR FORM / MASTER DETAIL generated with report you get a lot of rebuilding.
    I think i will avoid the use of this 2 object in the future and use more htmldb.items in the select.
    bye bye
