Taglib, bean action

Hello
I make a taglib Tree
I have class UITree extends UICommand. In this class I have method encodeBegin(FacesContext context)
in this method, at the beginning i have this code:
String action="#{Bean.actionBean}";
String actionParameter="10";
            FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            if (UIComponentTag.isValueReference(action)) {
                MethodBinding mb = context.getApplication().createMethodBinding(action, null);
                setAction(mb);
                if (actionParameter != null) {
                    ValueBinding vb = context.getApplication().createValueBinding(action);
                    setValueBinding("actionParameter", vb);
            } else {
                setAction(Util.createConstantMethodBinding(action));
             if (UIComponentTag.isValueReference(action)) {
                 MethodBinding vb = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createMethodBinding(action, null);
                 setAction(vb);
             } else
                 setAction(Util.createConstantMethodBinding(action));I want to call bean action (actionBean), but this action is not calling.
why? Please help me

  • Trigger Backing Bean Action from Java script

    Hello
    I'm quite new to JSF, Would like to know how we can trigger a bcaking bean action method using java script as part of form submit.
    Already I added one commandbutton with an action method defined in backing bean, But our requiremnt is to trigger the same action even if the user submits form by pressing Enter key.
    Targeted device is Windows Mobile IE ( In IE Mobile, we can't track onkeydown, onkeyup, onkeypress, onmousemove, onmousedown and onmouseup event. )
    1. How the JSF binds a backing bean method with JSF commandButton control on runtime. I didn't find any hidden value corresponding to this commandButton.
    2.How we can trigger a bcaking bean action method using java script as part of form submit
    Thanks
    Jobinesh

    thanks a lot for the replies. I'll try it out.
    But one question, just because of curiosity
    1. How the JSF binds a backing bean method with JSF commandButton control on runtime. I didn't find any hidden value/or any other flag corresponding to this commandButton from the genarted html for the correspondant jsf soure.

  • How to populate form bean (Action form) from Action  (Struts)

    Hello to all..
    I have a problem populating a from bean in struts from Action class...
    What I would like is ..
    1. how can I populate a formbean from Action so when a page (JSP) with tags will be displayed some tags will be set and some no (depends on data from database)..
    example...
    look at the picture...
    http://freeweb.siol.net/peterv6i/ax1.jsp
    I have a AO2.jsp page linked to action2 and also i have a formbean with set/get methods...
    nex step.. when I call action2 I' retrive datas from my database and in Action class I would like to populate formbean which is from page AO3 (which will be displayed)..
    Is this possible? here is my code but work only for 1 user.. if there are 2 or more users on page I get internal server error (Exception)..
    this is my Action class
    public class Action2 extends Action
    public[b] ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form,
    HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws IOException, ServletException {
    System.out.println("Action2");
    session = request.getSession();
    if (session.isNew()) {
    response.sendRedirect("AO2.jsp");
    AO3formbean frm = new AO3formbean(); <-- this is formbean from page AO3.jsp which I like to populate
    frm.setName("xxxxxx");
    frm.setSurname("ekekelek");
    session.setAttribute("AO3formbean", frm); <-- here I put a formbean in session
    return mapping.findForward("success");
    then the AO3.jsp page will be called which use a AO3formbean... and here problems come... If only one user use the application all is ok.. but when two or more users use the same form with different session the page will not work well.. sometimes i get exception, sometimes white page.. sometimes nonsense datas are displayed..
    Anybody know if is possibile to populate a formbean and store it in session or I must change whole code?
    for example...
    In my form i must enter a car assicurance policy number... (page AO2.jsp)..
    then in the action form I must connect to my database and retrive information from table and populate bean which is also a formbean on the page AO3 which will be desplayed.. (if I'am doing something wrong please let me know the right way)
    best regards

  • ADF BC/Faces - Order of validation / backing bean action problem

    Hello,
    I want the user to enter the same "operation date" into all adf faces table rows created in one batch (one transaction).
    So I removed operation date field from the table and added "unbound" date field above the table. The date field value is then copied into all new rows in background. This process is invoked from backing bean from Commit button actionListener method.
    The problem is the validation of the operation date in entity is executed before a new date value is copied into the date attribute (validation of model is in JSF lifecycle executed prior invoking actions in backing beans).
    It means the user can enter dead lock when he enters invalid date (for example date higher then a valid value).
    Then after commit:
    1. First validation is ok (wrong date value haven't been copied into model yet)
    2. backing bean copy action is executed - model now contains wrong date value
    3. Validation before commit isn't successfult - error message is displayed
    4. User corrects the date value and presses commit again but:
    5. First validation is not successful - model still contains recent wrong date value - error message is displayed again
    6.There is no way out from this situation
    I'm going to override lifecycle to be able to invoke copy method before validation cycle. Is this solution acceptable? Do you have any other suggestion?
    Thank you.
    Rado

    hi Rado
    Would it make sense to design your ADF BC View Objects in some kind of master-detail shape that fits your data?
    View Object : OperationMaster (OperationDateAttr, ...)
    View Object : OperationDetail (OperationAttr1, OperationAttr2, ...)
    View Link : OperationDetailForMasterVL (based on some attribute that keeps the detail rows together)
    You would need some Application Module method that does the "row batch setup", but it look like your already have something like this.
    A change to OperationMaster.OperationDateAttr could update all its detail rows date attribute.
    I think that building a UI on this would be less "view layer dependant".
    Just a suggestion.

  • Redundant information in JSP bean action

    Class Person:
    public class Person{
    private String name;
    public void setName(String p){
    name=p;
    public String getName(){
    return name;
    }Code in servlet:
    public void doPost(HTTPServletRequest request, HTTPServletResponse response) throws IOException,ServletException{
    foo.Person p= new foo.Person();
    p.setName("New Guy");
    request.setAttribute("person",p);
    RequestDispatcher view = request.getRequestDispatcher("result.jsp");
    view.forward(request,response);
    }Code in JSP:
    <jsp:useBean id="person" class="foo.Person" scope="request">This jsp:useBean tag really is confusing. Why does it need to declare the class="foo.Person"? Why does the JSP need to know that "person" instance is derived from class foo.Person ? (I wonder if I changed this to foo.person --> not Person will result in error). Doesn't the statement request.setAttribute("person",p) from the servlet give enough info already to the JSP? thanks

    The "person" in your servlet has nothing to do with your "person" in your JSP bean tag.

  • Action / actionListener in h:commandButton with managed beans

    I have a problem with a backing bean whose method is not invoked when i click it. I've seen some posts on here about this yet, I still don't understand what I am doing wrong, if anything.
    Some context...I've modeled my application after 'jcatalog' from this article:
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-07-2004/jw-0719-jsf.html . It's simpler than the article -- I'm not using Spring/Hibernate and the persistence is the file system. For each business object (Resource), there's a backing bean (ResourceBean).
    In short, I can't get the backing bean to respond to the button event for 'Add' bound to addAction. This is just like the jcatalog 'createProduct' impl -- which doesn't use the (FacesEvent fe ) approach.
    Anyway, I would appreciate anyone's help to get past this.

    Basically your form beans are the place holders or containers for your jsp attributes. It has to be mapped in such a way that when the form is submitted the user entered values get populated on to your form bean.
    For Eg:
    JSP
    <html:form action="accountSearchResults.do">
    <html:text property="myName" size="15"/>
    //USE ONLY STRUTS TAGS IN JSP's. U CAN REFER TO
    //http://struts.apache.org/1.x/struts-taglib/tlddoc/index.html
    //THE PROPERTY NAME "myName" SHOULD BE DEFINED IN
    //YOUR FORMBEAN WITH getMyName AND setMyName
    //METHODS DEFINED
    </html:form>
    struts-config.xml
    <form-beans>
         <form-bean name="addEditAccount" type="org.apache.struts.validator.LazyValidatorForm">
              <form-property name="myName" type="java.lang.String">
              </form-property>
         </form-bean>
    </form-beans>
    <action-mappings>
         <action path="/accountSearchResults" type="com.zzz.AccountSearchResultAction" name="addEditAccount" scope="request">
              <forward name="success" path="NextPage.jsp">
              </forward>
         </action>
    </action-mappings>
    Action Class
    Since we have defined the form bean as a lazyvalidator instance you can use:
    PropertyUtils.copyProperties(targetBean, form);to fetch the values entered by the user. Try to use struts tags in your jsp's and map the properties to your form bean variables. Hope that helps.

    I never used DynaActionForm, what I have noticed here is, don't you need to declare the form bean? I may be wrong.

    <form-bean name="newProdForm" type="com.package.form.NewProdForm"></form-bean>

  • Can't find action mappings

    Hi. I am encountering a "...cant find actionMappings..." error in my struts app when deployed on iplanet 6.0. It works on an apache/tomcat setup which leads me to believe that my web.xml file and struts-config file is set up correctly (i've copied the web.xml file below).
    I've also included nearly every library under the sun so I don't think it has anything to do with that either.
    The error message i get is:

  • JSF seems to not call a simple action method

    I have a situation where it seems JSF is not performing one of it's basic functions--calling an action method in a backing bean based on a simple JSF EL expression.
    Here's the relevant part of my JSP (the h:subview tags are there because another JSP includes this one):
    -- my.jsp: ------------------------------------------------------------
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <f:subview id="work-area">
    <h:form id="peers-work">
         <h:commandButton id="edit" value="Edit"     action="#{peerBean.edit}" styleClass="actionButton" />
    </h:form>
    </f:subview>
    --------------------------------------------------------------My faces-config.xml defines the "peerBean" as follows:
    -- faces-config.xml: ------------------------------------------------------------
    <faces-config>
      <managed-bean>
        <description>Session bean for performing Peer operations.</description>
        <managed-bean-name>peerBean</managed-bean-name>
        <managed-bean-class>com.myApp.PeerBean</managed-bean-class>
        <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
      </managed-bean>
      <navigation-rule>
        <from-view-id>/my.jsp</from-view-id>
        <navigation-case>
          <from-outcome>success</from-outcome>
          <to-view-id>/editPeer.jsp</to-view-id>
        </navigation-case>
        <navigation-case>
            <from-outcome>fail</from-outcome>
            <to-view-id>/error.jsp</to-view-id>
          </navigation-case>
        </navigation-rule>
    </faces-config>
    --------------------------------------------------------------And here's the action method in PeerBean:
    -- PeerBean.java ----------------------------------------
    public class PeerBean extends BaseBean implements Serializable {
        public PeerBean() {
        public String edit() {
            logger.debug("in edit().");
            Peer peer = this.getPeer(this.getId() );
            String outcome = "success"; // optimism!
            if (peer == null) {
                outcome = "fail";
            } else {
                this.setId(peer.getId() );
                this.setName(peer.getName() );
                this.setDescription(peer.getDescription() );
            return outcome;
    --------------------------------------------------------------It compiles and runs fine, but when I click on the "Edit" button in my.jsp, the page submits but never enters the "edit" method (based on the fact that the logger call in the method does not write anything to the log.), and it simply re-displays my.jsp (even though it should go to the "success" or "fail" page, according to the navigation rules). I see a bunch of debug messages in the logs from the code that loads the page, but no indication that the edit method is touched. There are no stack traces or errors reported in any of the logs that Tomcat creates for this application.
    Elsewhere in my application, I am able to use commandButton elements to trigger backing bean actions just like I'm trying to do above, and in other places it works fine. I don't know why the above case does not work.
    Also, is there a way to put JSF in a debug mode that shows info such as the navigation outcome processing, JSF EL processing, etc.?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Scott

    I see. Thanks for the response.
    I already have message and messages tag in the JSF, but no error message is displayed. Also, there is no error message in the tomcat log.
    I actually found your tutorial ( http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/01/jsf-tutorial-with-eclipse-and-tomcat.html ) yesterday, so when I saw your response, your name looked familiar but I did not immediately remember why. I Will be going through the tutorial now.
    My application goes as far as the INVOKE APPLICATION phase, but never enters/executes the action method, can anyone please suggest any reason that could be the cause.
