Take date from the text variable.

Hi Experts,
I am a BW consultant and I have one requirement please help .
i have one transparent table where i have a text field where i have a date stored in it.
I want this date in the date varaible.
If i am directly reading this tabel and putting it inyo the date varaible IT gives me error
as : Target field and source field are mismatched.
Please help me put this date in the date variable from the text varaible.

declare your variable the same type as the transparent table where you have the text field which stores date.
Eg:
if ztab is the table, and date is the field in the table, in your program, declare the variable as
DATA: l_date like ztab-date.
In the logic, move the data like
l_date = ztab-date

well, for starters, is there a URL (link) in the text? if so, you will have to take it out, and include it in the little link area under the comments box.
If not, check to see if you have 'Http://' or '.com' or something similar in the text.

Hi Milan,
Prior to loading data in Mathscript Window , you have to save the data from the Mathscript window (the default extension of the file is .mlv but you can choose any extension). This means that you cannot load data from a text file that was not created using the Mathscript window.

What is the best way to retrive data from a Global Variable?

Here is what I want to do,
I have several PC's that run different types of tests. I want to use a global variable, running on a single PC, that acts like a sever that can be accessed by the other PC's in my lab. This Global variable will store the hostnames of the different PC's that are currently running each test, along with a description of the test. Then, a user can access this Global variable to read the different values and select the PC and connect to it's desktop using Remote Desktop in Windows.
Is it possible to write data to the Global variable that is running on the single PC?
What is the best way to do this? Does anyone have a sample VI?
What is the best way to then read the data from the Global variable?
(I will probably use an array\cluster to store the hostnames.)

Another pre-LV8 idea...
A functional global can be accessed using VI-Server and called using "call by reference".
This approach harnesses the TCP functionality built into the VI-Server to manage the conncetion.
This can be pretty quick and (if the functional global is written correctly) will support buffered- mixed data types. (Try to do that with the Shared Variable ).

How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from a text file?

I have several hundred text files that contain a bunch of information. I only need six values from each file and ideally I need them as columns in an excel file.
How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from the text files and either create a new text file or excel file with the info? I have looked all over but can't find a solution. If anyone could please help I would be eternally grateful!!! If there is another, better solution than automator, please let me know!

You cannot select data from a structure.
A structure / work area contains data only at the run-time.
You can select data from views and tables.
The data you need to select will be in Database tables. All you need to do
is to find those table and select from there.

Take data from renamed column

I created visual web part and used client object model to take data from a list.
Worked perfect, but when I renamed the list column script failed to take data from the list.
When I rename the list column back script worked again.
How I can take data from the list which has rename columns?

It could be because you are using hard coded column names in your script.
here are different ways you can make your script to work-
1. Use the internal name of the column

There are so many things wrong with this VI, I'm not even sure where to start.
Hard-coding paths that point to your user folder on the block diagram. What if somebody else tries to run it? They'll get an error. What if somebody tries to run this on Windows 7? They'll get an error. What if somebody tries to run this on a Mac or Linux? They'll get an error.

Use of local variables to populate an array.
Cannot insert values into an empty array.
What if there's a line missing from the text file? Now your data will not line up. Your case structure does handle this.

I would like to plott data from a text file in the same way as a media player does from a video file. I’m not sure how to create the pointer slide function. The vi could look something like the attached jpg.

i am not realy sure what you want!?!?
i think you want to display only a part of the values you read from XYZ
so what you can do:
write all the values in an array.
the size of the array is the max. value of the slide bar
now you can select a part of the array (e.g. values from 100 to 200) and display this with a graph
the other option is to use the history function of the graphes

Analyse big data in Excel? Why the dynamic tables doesn't take all the data from the source table.

I'm doing a internship in a production line.
My job is to recover production data (input data) and test data (output data) using various types of software (excel, BusinessObject sap, etc).
To this day, I have recovered hundreds of production data, and have also organized in excel but I need to analyze and plot them.
I would like to know who can give me an idea of how I could plot as much data and analysis.
Now i trying to use dynamic charts and plot some data but I did not get acceptable answers.
How could I compare, analyze and graph for example:
Five columns of production (input) with five (5) columns tested (data output).
After graphing.
Someone can give me a technique to analyze data? ie I compare column by column?
or some other technique? as a conglomerate could analyze data?
o give you an idea of the contect, now I perform an internship in a manufacturing turbines.
My job is to analyze the input data (production) and to estimate the possible behavior of the turbines in the tests.
As I said, use dynamic tables in excel, but i have not idea why the dynamic tables doesn't take all the data from the source table.

What I want to do is read a data file(ie csv), from windows and write the data into the record store.
My main idea is to store the recordstore files on windows and updated them from the text windows files and autosync the recordstores between windows and my palm...

I'll keep it simple and only use the date as an example. Hopefully you get the concept from the example. Basically you create a recordset and insert the recordset value instead of the POST value into your insert query. In the example below I declared a variable for $the_date and entered the variable into the INSERT query instead of the hidden POST field.

How to get the Text variables in the Columns Headings

     My requirement is I need to get data for weekly wise and for the last 10 weeks also. For this purpose I used the restricted KF based on the variables (customer exit) and offset. Also used the text variable for displaying from and to days in the column headings. I am getting the right text for the first column only. But the text offset is not considering.
Ex 07/04/2007 to 07/10/2007      06/27/2007 to 07/03/2007 like that.
I used the two text variables one for from data and other for to date using the customer exit. I am getting the same text as of the first column for the subsequent columns also. Please help me for getting the right text in the columns.

           The quite simple way is to create a text variable with replacement path , as it replaces the value of customer exit used in the report.
create two text variables
First variable:
1 Replace variable with -
external characteristic key value
For interval use ---from value
2.Secod text variable
Replace variable with -
external characteristic key value
For interval use ---To value
offset start -0000 offset length0000
use these variables in the column headings.
