Tap-click not working on touchpad

Hi,
I can't left-click by tapping with a single finger on my touchpad. My touchpad buttons are working correctly and my touchscreen too.
Here's my (unmodified) /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf :

Yeah I was about to edit my post since I found that

  • Flex 2 14 - Two finger tap for Right-Click not working (Two finger double tap works)

I bought my Flex 2 14 a couple of weeks back.
I want to enable Two-finger tap (not click) for right click.. Unfortunately it does not work.
Weirdly, Two-finger DOUBLE tap works for right click..
    How do I get a two-finger tap?
I tried the regitry hacks from here (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Yoga-Flex-Laptops-and/Yoga-2-Pro-Two-finger-tap-does-not-work/td-p/1406... but no luck yet.
    Any help please.

I have found a solution but I am still annoyed I had to do my own tech work to get a common touch figure enabled. (By the way there's many threads out there on Synpatics drivers and touchpads not working right for many people on different machines.)
Anyway, indeed the fastest fix is to modify a registry entry for Synaptics. Just open  the regisitry edit software on the Yoga and then go through the folders: HKEY LOCAL / Software / Synaptics / SynTP / Win8
In "2FingerTapAction" all you need is to change the value from "0" to "2" - and presto two-finger tap is now a right click!
Much easier than going through a driver install / uninstall routine or any other of the suggestions I've found out there.
I wish Lenovo had this set up as a default. It's really a great gesture and it's quiet and fast.

  • Magic Trackpad's One Finger "Tap to Click" Not Working in Login Window?

Magic Trackpad's *One Finger* "Tap to Click" Not Working in Login Window:
All of my iMac's accounts have *One Finger* "Tap to Click" turned on (checked) in System Preferences. However, in the Login Window where the user decides which account to login to, the Magic Trackpad's clicking ability does not work even though moving the arrow does work. How do I turn on the Magic Trackpad's ability to click in the Login Window?

After accidentally pressing down on the Magic Trackpad, I realized the trackpad has tactile feedback, that is, it is a big button that can be pressed down and pop back up like old computer mice. Though this will allow the trackpad to select the account I want to open in the Login Window, it still doesn't explain why "tap to click" isn't working in the Login Window. Nevertheless, my question can be considered as answered.

  • 2008 Macbook pro left click not working properly after upgrading to 10.6.8

I have a 2008 Macbook pro and a few months ago after upgrading to 10.6.8 my left click has been wonky.
Using the trackpad the left click eventually gets "stuck" or stops responding and I have to push it multiple times before it does anything.  I have tried plugging in a mouse, but when I do so the mouse also behaves the same way.  The only way I seem to be able to get the clicking to work properly is to restart the computer with the mouse attached.
I have seen threads about trackpads being messed up by swollen batteries, but my battery is brand new and looks fine, and the clicking problem extends to an external mouse, so I believe it is something with the preferences.
I tried deleting  com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouchTrackpad.plist   and restarting and the problem seemed to be fixed, but then after about a half hour it returned.
Having to keep a mouse plugged into my macbook is driving me crazy, anyone know a solution?

I started having the same issue after update.  I'm on a MacBookpro running 10.7.2
ICalled apple and they did a remove battery reboot, a reload lion and a option/command/R/P reboot on startup and then the computer started working.  Two days later problem was back.  I then did a reboot and the computer was back to working.  Today the computer worked fine tell it went to sleep.  I had to do a hard reboot to get the Mac up and running and now no left click.  Please help. I can not use the Mac  with the trackpad, a mouse, a Bluetooth mouse, or a digital pad. All so signs of left mouse click not working.  One other item when you go to pick your user at startup the left mouse click works.  Help!

  • Why double click not working ?

if the system have wizip/winrar installed...does it block to run executable jar whence they are doble-clicked ?
because when i doble-click on the executable jar file....it opens up in the winrar...it displays all the directory structure in the jar file.....but it never executes.
    i have a jar in c:\
and i can run this way....
    C:\>java -jar psae.jar Philip
    Hello World Philip
why double click not working ?

This is because winzip or winrar has taken over the
Windows association with files of type .jar.
    Assuming XP.YES.....its windows XP.
Click on the tools menu in any explorer window,
select "folder options" and choose the "file type"
tab. i tried that also earlier....anyway, here again one more time
    please look at
    http://img107.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nojar7ah.jpg
There is NO .JAR file association i find in that list.
you need to change the associaton of 'jar' to
    "Opens with Java"

  • Aspx menus and click not working

It's hard to explain the problem, but this site will demonstrate what I mean: http://ic4uae.ae/Default.aspx
as show in the picture, when I hover on "shop by department", a menu should appear, but its not!
when I click on "sign in" a log-in window should appear, but its not!
all the clicks not working in such sites!
this problem is not browser-related, I've tried many of them.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Two finger tap right click not working

Is anyone having a problem with two-finger tap to right click?  Two-finger tap to right click was working fine for a while, but it suddenly stopped on my Yoga 13.
I reinstalled the touchpad drivers, and it worked for a few days, then it stopped again.  Two-finger click still works fine.  So does one-finger tap to left click.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • 'Tap to click' not working in certain applications in Vista SP2

    System: Alu Macbook c2d 2.4ghz (late 2008)
    Bootcamp version 3/3.1 (Latest)
    Windows Vista SP2
    OS X 10.6.2
    OK, insignificant problem, but to explain;
I have the Bootcamp control panel installed in Windows Vista under Bootcamp, and for the last 5 months, all has worked perfectly. 'Tap to click' has never had any problems anywhere in Windows, or related applications.
For the last few months I have run a game, Championship Manager 01/02 under Windows XP, in OS X 10.6, via VMWare 2. No issues at all, other than it wasn't the fastest. Tap to click worked fine in XP, and in the game.
A few days ago I gave my disks of VMWare and Vista to a family member as I didn't need them anymore, and planned to delete them both from my system. I then booted into Bootcamp where I run Vista SP2, and installed CM 01/02 directly onto the Windows system.
All worked and installed fine.... other than in CM 01/02 only, 'tap to click' does not work at all! I have to physically 'click' the keypad, which *****, is loud, and is a real pain.
I rechecked in XP under VMWare, and it works there, so I reinstalled under Windows Vista in Bootcamp, and again, no go.
I am just wondering if anyone may be able to tell me why this would happen just in this one application, and how I can go about fixing it!
    TIA
    Marc

  • Flex 2 TouchPad Right-Click Not Working After Upgrade

Hi, I recently upgraded my Lenovo Flex 2 (15 inch) notebook from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After upgrading, the right click button on my touchpad stopped working. Suspecting a driver issue, I uninstalled the driver to allow the default Windows driver to take over. The right-click button started to work again, so it's not a hardware problem. However, the touchpad, in general, became erratic and difficult to use. I then downloaded the latest Lenovo Flex 2 touchpad driver for Windows 10. However, the touchpad returned to the way it was after the upgrade and the right-click button does not work. Please help me with this. I need my laptop to function properly during my travels. Kind regards, Ash

    Try a two-finger click.

  • Clickpad Right Click not Working Consistantly

I just purchased an HP laptop with a Clickpad and reviewed your documentation for what areas on the pad to use for clicking however I can't seem to get a consistent right click even when I click in the area indicated by the diagram.  I can be almost in the bottom right corner of the pad's surface and still get a left click response.
Is there a trick to it I am missing or do I have a dud?

    Hello Kyraoko,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the right-clicking action on the touchpad, of your notebook, is not working properly. It is likely a hardware issue, to be honest. However, please try the following steps before assuming anything:
    1. Tap the upper-left corner of the touchpad a couple of times to turn it off, then turn it on. This is considered resetting the touchpad.
    2. Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset is the next step. A hard reset clears driver instructions, recent configurations, etc. This forces the hardware to reread all instructions from the drivers and software stored within Windows.
    3. Update the mouse/touchpad driver. These instructions will guide you along the right path:
    a. Go to the HP Drivers and Downloads webpage. Enter your computer model number and then click Go .
    b. Select your computer model from the list of results.
    c. Select your operating system from the drop down menu and then click Next.
    d. Scroll down to select the driver category "Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices".
    e. Click the Download button next to the appropriate TouchPad or ClickPad driver. The file downloads to your Downloads folder.
    f. Open your Downloads folder and double-click to install the latest driver. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Source: Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8)
    4. If that doesn't work, we will have to try a more direct approach of reinstalling the mouse driver:
    a) Go into Device Manager, then "Mice and other pointing devices".
    b) Right-click on the touchpad driver, and select "Uninstall".
    c) Restart the computer. This will force a new driver to be written based on the detected hardware.
    5. Try connecting a USB mouse to the computer. Test it to see whether or not it is working properly.
If those steps do not help, then I would call HP phone support so they can physically address the hardware of the touchpad. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks for posting, and have a great day!

  • T540p and Middle-Click not working

So, I just got my T540p 2 days ago, and while getting everything set up, I realize that a few things are off with the clickpad.  For a while, most clicks were not being registered: left, right, or middle.  It could take some furious clicking just to get one click registered.  Next, no matter what settings I set, I could not get middle click to register as a middle-click - they were always taken as left clicks.  And finally, I could not get right-click to register unless I set button size to either Large or Full.  At standard, right-clicks were seen as left-clicks.
Here's the rub - I think I've narrowed it down to the driver.  After submitting a warranty request yesterday, I started playing with it some more, and here is what I've found:
After a few full shutdowns and reboots, responses got better:  Clicks were more reliably registered, and right-clicks worked, even on Standard button size in the settings.  However, middle-clicks were still impossible.  Any attempt at a middle-click was registered as a left-click.  This was with the Lenovo driver installed.
After uninstalling the Lenovo driver, middle clicks started working.  Unfortunately, mouse speed is painfully slow without the Lenovo driver installed, so this is not much of an option.  I tried downloading a driver directly from Synaptics, and that did not seem to help the mouse speed - this driver doesn't seem to add the UltraNav tab to the mouse settings which allows me to increase the speed of the TrackPoint.  However the Synaptics driver (which claims to be older than the Lenovo driver) did allow middle-clicks.
Next, I re-installed the Lenovo driver and after the first reboot clicks were back to being unreliable and middle-clicks vanished again.  After a 2nd reboot, left and right- clicks became better, but still no middle clicks.
So, I've determined that it's not a hardware issue anymore, but a driver issue.  I now have a box on the way to ship my laptop back - but since it's not a hardware problem, I don't see the need to send the laptop back.
Does anyone have any insight on what I should do?  Send it back and let Lenovo attempt to change settings/etc. to get my middle-click working?  Or patiently wait for a driver update that may or may not fix the middle-click?
I will say that I am very impressed at the speed of getting the 'warranty fix' box, so THANK YOU to Lenovo for an amazing response there.  I'm just getting frustrated with the clickpad issues.

I have the exact same question, prior to UltraNav driver installation, you can simply Tap-to-click while using the Trackpoint. After installing the driver, you MUST click down on the Clickpad to send a click while using the Trackpoint. This is such a simple software solution that has seriously made me regret my decision to by a newer Thinkpad. The new xx50 series Clickpad is interchangeable with the xx40 series but I am not spending nearly 70$ to solve a simple software problem!
I recall that back in the days of the X200/X201 there were a decent amount of tips/tricks we could do via the registry to enable "hidden" features of the Synaptics touchpad/trackpoint combo. Is there a similar "hack" we could do to enable the tap-to-click functionality while using the Trackpoint?
