Telnet through Java and JSP

Hi friends,
Now, there is a certain server that one can telnet into using old conventional way, that is from a shell.
However, I would like to do the same from form on a webpage which, on submitting, does the logging in, querying the command and returning the results back to me on a web page.
I have googled about java and telnet and most if not all rsults link to a virtual console that is implemented in Java. Thats not what I exactly need. Neither do I need an applet but just web forms sumbitting into jsp pages.
Anyone?

Well you might have to think of writing your own virtual console.
You can start with below set of libraries and try to implement them @the Server Side and define respective Sevices accordingly.
http://commons.apache.org/net/
Here are few example of how you make use of Commons Net Libraries and write Telnet Services
http://www.java2s.com/Code/Java/Network-Protocol/ExampleofuseofTelnetClient.htm
Also have telnet apps that you could look at their source code to get you going.
The Java Telnet Application
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jta
Java Telnet Daemon
http://freshmeat.net/projects/telnetd
Hope that might help :)

  • Websites for downloading code-templates (java and jsp) existing ?

    Hi,
    I'm searching for a website, offering code examples or templates (in java and jsp) for downloading.
    For example: A code for creating a new xml-file, login-procedure or sending an e-mail with a java-program, I can customize.
    I know, for asp.net such websites for downloading code-templates are existing (e.g. a German website: http://www.aspheute.com).
    So I think for java and jsp those sites will also be existing
    Does anyone know some links ?
    bye
    Chris

    Yes, with google - I'll surely find some matches, but I'm looking for links and websites which will be provided by personal experiences.
    With google - you won't find any personal experiences...

  • Ideas pls for a small application on java and jsp?

    hi ,
    I would like to create an application which for resume. I would like to codify the java code . The java code should be able to autogenerate jsp file's since the output of the resume would be on an jsp page. To add it simply a wizard for dynamic resume creation using java swings and jsp. Code for jsp should be autogenerated please note it.
    Ideas please!
    Thanks in advance

    I'd like to add more information to Patreck's suggestion.
    JSP pages are wonderful if you need the web server to perform some actions before sending you the final web page.
    Here, you don't need the web server to do anything because your Swing application can do it for you. As Patreck implies, Swing can make a connection to the database, retrieve any information you want, perform whatever logic you need, and write the output to an HTML file.
    To give you an example, you can use Internet Explorer to view a basic web page on your hard disk. You can also use Microsoft Word to view the same basic web page. They both do the same task and there is no need to force IE to use its Word plug-in in order to view the web page.
    JSPs are not necessary because Swing will do all of the work for you. You only need JSPs if you want people to use your program through a web browser because they can't do Swing inside a web browser. You should only use one or the other, not both. Understand now?
    If you really really must generate JSP code from a Swing application, then just write out the JSP stuff in the file. For example...
    public void createWebPage( Printwriter pw, String myName ) {
       pw.println( "<% String myJSPName = \"" + myName + "\" %>" );
       pw.println( "<HTML>");
       pw.println( "<HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<TITLE>My Resume</TITLE>" );
       pw.println( "</HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<BODY>" );
       pw.println( "<H1>My name is " + myName + " and my JSP name is <%= myJSPName %></H1>" );
       pw.println( "</BODY>" );
       pw.println( "</HTML>" );
    }As you can see, it's pointless to embed JSP when you can do all the programming within Swing first and just write out the correct response.

  • .sql file through Java and procedures

    I want to execute .sql file (on my local system) to run on a oracle database.
    Also please tell me how can I run multiple procedure simultenously through Java class.
    Thanks in Anticipation

    First you need a multi-CPU machine or you're never going to execute more than one statement at once.
    Next you need to know how to create a multithreaded program.
    After that, you need to figure out how to read that file and separate the statements in it so each can be fed to one of those threads.

  • Template for *.java and *.jsp

    Hi everyone, thanks for reading my post...
    I need to add to the default template (or create a new one) where i can insert into every *.java file and *.jsp file the copyright and license of my company... Is there a way to achieve this?

    You can create a seperate class file which does contain all the validation methods... When ever you wish utilize / call a particular method, u can call the method by passing the component object itself which will return the result...

  • Accessing OS/390 through Java and reading VSAM files

    I hope this is the apporiate forum for this question. I am fairly new to Java but am interested in learning about using Java to connect to a mainframe and read a VSAM file. So my questions are:
    1.) Where can I find information on this on this topic
    2.) Would this require database drivers, and if so, are there any open source drivers for reading VSAM
    Thanks for your help,
    John

    You can get an evaluation copy of WebSphere Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS v8.2. This will include JDBC clients for Windows and Unix platforms as well as a z/OS data server component that can access the VSAM data. .
    There are two ways to order an evaluation copy:
    Through the IBM zSeries account rep
    Via the Shop zSeries Web site

    The jar files which were used are downloaded from http://jarfinder.com. Those jars created the problem of displaying those messages on console. I downloaded APIs from apache.org and used them in my application. Now my application is running good.

  • Getting result from a telnet command through Java

    Hi,
    I've been using a set of classes found here: http://javatelnet.org/
    to do telnet through Java in a non-interactive mode.
    However I've got a problem when retrieving the result of a command sent to the remote host: the classes read the stream until the prompt is encountered; my problem is I must execute commands on several remote hosts, and the prompt is not necessarily the same on all hosts.
    Is there a simple means to establish a telnet connection through Java and retrieve the result of the commands?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks again, this is a very good article
    I see it is still the same strategy to get the result of a command : wait 'til the prompt is sent. Maybe there is just no other way to get it .
    But as I don't know the prompt on the different hosts I have to query, this won't do it.
    The article gave me an idea though : I only need to count the files in a directory on the remote host; until now I was trying to send the 'ls | wc -l' command by Telnet.
    Maybe I can simply do it by FTP (retrieve the list of files, and then count the lines with JAVA).

    through Java and if yes then send me the code for theIt's possible, as there are several commercial offerings out there.
    But as YOU need to write it it won't do for you to try and trick someone else into writing it so you can submit it as your own.
    same . Also on which GSM Modem will it Work , I've

    A real server would have its own hardware and software to pipe directly into the network of a telco, and a contract with that telco to use their network to send messages.
