I have modified some java class files for iProcurement and upload to the unix box. Do I need to restart the Application server to reflect the change or any other way that I don't need to restart the server every time I make change to the java class.
Many thanks for your help

Hi,
You need to bounce the apache, to make to changes visible. There is no other way to achieve the same.

Ehm, I wasn't referring to you at all... read up,
there's a comment by jschell saying that CGI might be
    easier/better for his purposes.
    Yep.
I know PHP/Perl/whatever might be easier for some
purposes, but only if you happen to know them and want
to/are able to use them. Ok. But you aren't the one asking the question are you. And the person who asked the question seems to have absolutely no familiarity with Apache or applets.
So whatever they do they are going to have to learn a lot.
And that does indeed suggest that in all likelyhood they have not investigated the alternatives.
And for the vast majority of internet applications, especially with smaller projects (obvious this person is not working with a large team), using perl, or something besides java, is going to be the best business solution. It is simpler, and more secure (probably due to the fact that it is simpler.)
Since this is a Java forum, I
answer under the assumption that people have made a
choice one way or another to use a Java solution to
their problem, so I try to solve it in Java first, and
only when that fails (very seldom) do I turn to other
solutions. You approach problems by arbritrarily deciding to try to solve it in java first and only if you fail do you then look to other solutions?
My first step is to try to figure out which of the various avenues is going to cost less. (And a secondary, but non-trivial concern, is then to convince the customer that just because they have heard of a buzz word like 'enterprise bean' that it doesn't mean that is a cost effective solution.) We must come from different worlds.

    Hi kajbj,
Java guys are mostly using TOMCAT,so for me it seems to be the best place. That's not correct. Most people who are writing stuff for the web might be using Tomcat, but there are lots and lots of Java applications that aren't for the web.
Is there any other reason behind your question.Yes, this forum is named "New to Java" and Tomcat questions shouldn't be asked here, even if people knows the answer to you question. You will probably get better and more detailed answers in a Tomcat forum. All othe guys there are actually using Tomcat, and they know the small differences between the different versions, and how they behave on different operating systems. They do also know if you need to make configurations changes, and where you should make them.
So in future, please ask questions in a forum that is specific to the product that you are using.

  • How to restart the Netweaver Server without restarting the whole OS (Suse)

We are setting up the SAP Netweaver Java on Suse Linux Trial in VMWare.
We require to restart the Netweaver Server several times. Is there a possibilty to restart the Netweaver Server without restarting the whole Suse Linux Server Operating System?

    Hello Deniz,
startsap and stopsap have the folllowing syntax :
    startsap [db|r3|j2ee|all|check] [<instance>]
you could use startsap/stopsap to start/stop any of the db or r3 or j2ee or any particular instance.
    e.g.
    startup db
    startsap r3
    startsap j2ee (just j2ee part)
    similarly for stopsap
if you have multiple instance you could use the instance ABC as
    startsap ABC
If you just want to restart any particular process of j2ee engine, you could use jcmon.
    Hope that helps.

  • What are the procedure to be followed while restart the exchange server..?

    Dear All,
Pls provide the procedure to be followed while restarting the exchange server. i.e. what is the sequence for restarting and starting the exchange server.
    Regards
    R Nantha Ram

As suggested above no such procedure to be followed unless it is a DAG.
If you are running exchange and DC in one OS. Stop exchange services first then restart server. (commands below to stop exchange related services)
    net stop msexchangeadtopology /y
    net stop msexchangefba /y
    net stop msftesql-exchange /y
    net stop msexchangeis /y
    net stop msexchangesa /y
    net stop iisadmin /y
    net stop w3svc /y
This is bcz DC stops quicker than Exchange, therefore Exchange is unable to write to the domain controller and has to be be "killed" by the operating system.
This continual "killing" of the Exchange services, instead of allowing them to shutdown gracefully is not good for the database and is one of the prime reasons for recommending that Exchange is not installed on a domain controller.
A better option is to stop the services before you begin to shutdown the server. This will also cause the server to shutdown more quickly because it isn't waiting for the services to timeout. This can significantly decrease the shutdown/reboot time of Server.

  • How to deal with Short dump that restarts the index server?

    Hi ,
I have been experiencing this problem whenever any exception occurs in my SQL SCRIPT procedure. For instance when there is a situation when I try to insert a value of 50 characters in length to a column with max size of 40 it throws a short dump and restarts the index server. I tried to insert the exception handling code as well but still the problem persists. Is there a way to solve this issue?

    Hi Sudarshan
crashes are rather generic reactions of the system to virtually any kind of problem that may occur.
Memory shortage is one of the more common issues in current SAP HANA setups and SAP HANA development is heavily working on handling memory shortage situations more gracefully.
Massive over allocation of memory, for example by very large intermediate result sets or join result sets typically can be addressed by correcting the query or model that leads to the issue.
Anyhow, the initial post was not about a memory shortage but about a crash that seemed to have occurred with wrong data type handling.
These are two very different kinds of problems, so I am not really sure how your comment relates here.

  • Javascript development on Apex - How to show changes on the Javascript on Apex without restarting the web server?

      Hi,
I am working on a Javascript for Apex. The changes are not reflected and I was told to restart the app server. Is there a better way for Apex to process the changed Javascript? Thanks.

    Hi,
I assume you store JavaScript to web server folder and browser caches your file.
Use query string end of file name like
    /my.js?v=0.0.1
And when you change file, change query string value
    Templates JavaScript help says:
File reference using a query string in the URL referencing the application version, such that when the application is upgraded
(and the version is incremented), the browser will be instructed to always load the new file and ignore any previously cached files.
    /myjs/main.js?version=#APP_VERSION#

    Hi,
JMS queue is able to receive message after redeploying the application or restarting the weblogic server. It is intermittent , not happening every time.
Please suggest how to resolve this issue. do we missed any configuration settings we are missing at clinet side or server side.
we are using Weblogic 92 MP2 version.
    thanks.
    [email protected]

I assume you meant "is unable to receive messages".
Are you getting any exceptions in the code, or errors in the log, or is nothing happening when you know there's a message on the queue to be read?
Are you perhaps reading from a distributed destination?

    Hi SDNers,
After I restarted the MDS server I am not able to logon to the repository. When I tried to connect to repository I am getting an error like "Repository Connect Failed and The MDM Repository is Invalid"
I tired to delete but I am not able to delete also. While deleteing it is giving an error like  "MDM Repository is in Read Only Mode".
So I am not able to Delete the repository also to create a new Repository.
    Any Help or Solution

    Kiran -
some of the below ways you can check
    1. Check your mds.ini settings. and do unmount nad then mount the MDM server again. Try to Monitor the Authentication for Particular repositry which you want to connect to your MDM 7.1 server
    2. after checking the note 1325833. try restart database server first then MDM server.
    3. also try to check with Appropriate repository option once.

    Hi,
When i restart the weblogic server 9.2,all messages in Topic get cleared for inactive dudrable subscribers.
Please advise what the issue here.
              Thanks.

Hi Tom, Thanks you so much for spending your time on this issue.
A)I didn't specify any persistent mode.so i believe default mode is "Persistent"
              B) when i click on durable subscribers link on the corrersponding Topic it is showing 2 users.
actually these durable subscribers are created by executing below code after look up the Topic.
              TopicSubscriber tsub = ts.createDurableSubscriber(topic,"mysub");
              C) Delivery Mode Override is set to "No-Delivery".
but Time-to-Live Override is set to 21600000 .
i assume Time-to-Live is causing problem.
              Please advise.

  • How to  Restart the web server

    Hi,
on tools 8.49 on Unix AIX, I'm reading this
E-WL: What is Verbose Garbage Collection (verbosegc) and How do I Enable it on WebLogic? [ID 759137.1]
and it is asked to :
    2. Restart the web server
How should I do that ?
    Thank you.

If it is restart, then you need to stop it first and then stat it again.
    cd $PS_HOME/webserv
    ls
(then you find your domain directory)
    cd <your domain directory>
    cd bin
    ./stopPIA.sh
    (wait for conclusion)
    ./startPIA.sh

  • Oracle cache is still there after I restart the Oracle server - can it be?

    Hello,
My name is Tal and I work for a software company called Mercury.
We have a strange case in Oracle 9.2.0.6 (running on Solaris 2.9) and I wonder if one of you can help.
I am running query, this query is doing something like “select * from x where y between z and w”.
x, y, z and w are parameters which cause the query to be one that scans a lot of data.
I run the query twice and the first time takes 60 seconds, but the second time takes only 3 seconds.
I assumed that this is caused by the database cache (block buffers).
    BUT,
Then I bounced the database (shutdown immediate + startup) and rerun the query.
It comes back after 3 seconds again!!!
Can some share some info on this; it looks like Oracle cache is still there after I restart the Oracle server.
         Tal Olier ([email protected]).

Regarding the buffer cache, it is definitly flushed after database restart.
There can be many factors causing your case:
    1. The first time you ran the query, some other process was consuming the server resources.
    2. Some other users were running heavy queries.
    3. Sudden Heavy network activities.
Q: Did the query, in any time, run in 60 seconds again?
If yes, then further factors should be considered.

I've put the appsborg2.zip file in my classpath. I've also copied the entire (1 GB) worth of Java .class files for Oracle apps onto my computer and placed it on my classpath. Is there something that prevents me from testing out my Java concurrent program on my Windows machine from the command line?

i think if u run the ap in the command line then it has to stay open, you could try writing a .bat file then when that is executed it will only open the command line for the program execution (i think)
