Text characters Overlapping themselves

Hi Community,
After exporting my indesign file to fixed-layout epub, the text characters overlap themselves. But they appear OK with the original file. Please how can I solve this problem. I sincerely need your help

I can image the laborious job it was. There's a quick tutorial here: How to design fixed layout EPUB | Adobe InDesign CC tutorials, but I think you need to get familiar with the basic use of paragraph styles on Indesign. There are several books available. One that is recommended here is Indesign CC: Visual QuickStart Guide by Sandee Cohen: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0321929578/ There is also lynda.com that has very good tutorials.

  • Rotated ASCII characters overlap in Text Layout Framework with specific Japanese/Chinese fonts

I am trying to layout rotated text with Text Layout Framework. Mostly okay, but when it comes to specific Japanese/Chinese fonts, problem happens - "hankaku" alphanumeric characters(in other words, ASCII characters) overlap in those fonts. (Full-width "zenkaku" characters have no problem, though)
When "HG丸ゴシックM-PRO" or "HG正楷書体-PRO" are specified as fontFamily(both come with Office - common fonts in Japanese Windows environment), characters are wholly overlapped.
When "SimSun", "NSimSun" or "SimHei" are specified as fontFamily(Chinese fonts, all come with Japanese Windows XP), characters are slightly overlapped.
If anyone knows a solution or a workaround to this, please let me know.

Not that I know of. Your problem is that you're loading the
    content
dynamically, so you have no idea what it will contain.
    There's normally
no need to embed Japanese fonts for a Japanese audience,
    because they
already have the main fonts, such as Mincho, Gothic, or Osaka
    on their
machine. Perhaps you'll just have to give up the idea of
    rotation.

  • What is the difference between Create shapes or masks from text characters?

What is the main difference between Create shapes or masks from text characters and why use one over the other, or when is one preferred over the other?
I am still fairly new to AE and am trying to better understand this, or can you point me to where i might look for the answer?
CS5 if that make a difference.

One creates masks, the other creates shape layers. There are properties that you can animate with shape layers that are not available to masks. There are also a few things you can do with masks that you can't with shape layers.
I'd suggest you take a look at the help files or do a Google Search on After Effects Shape Tutorials.

  • How can a text box overlap an object?

    I have a 1TB late 2012 iMac. Yosemite version 10.10.2 is installed.
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVDIA GeForce GT 640M 512MB
How can I place a text box overlapping an object?
I have pasted a photo from an email into a Pages document and I'd like to put on top of it.
I have tried as many Help topics as seemed relevant, but 'Move Backwards' and 'Move to front' are greyed out.
I have been confident using this technique with Mountain Lion, but now I'm stuck.
    I am old and self-taught.

    Assuming you have Pages 5.x
Click on the object > Toolbar > Format > Arrange > Stay on Page > Text Wrap > None
Now you can move it. It probably was inline and part of the text.
You can not move it under the general body text however, unless you move it to the Section Masters in which case it will appear on every single page of that Section.
You will need to create a Textbox to put your text into and move that on top of the object.

  • SAP PI 7.0 - Incorrect text characters

    Hello,
We're experiencing a problem with text characters in our interfaces. We have a scenario "Web Service - PI - Web Service".
When PI invokes the first Web Service the information is correctly retrived, but when it passes that information to the second Web Service, some words are not correctly processed. See the following example of a portuguese word:
    BETÃO becomes BET?AO
I think this is happening because of character conversion, but I can't seem to find a solution.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Random text characters not displaying correctly

    Hello,
I'm using Firefox 29.0.1 and I'm having a problem with words displaying incorrectly on Facebook.
    http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/o795/hatsunemii/ss_zpsa166e384.jpg
It's a strange problem with the fonts. As you can see in the screenshot, all the text characters should have the same style and font, but one of words is displaying incorrectly. I zoomed in to that word and you can see it's in bold??? In large paragraphs, there will be words like that all over the place and it's annoying... I tried reinstall FF, update my fonts, play with font settings in FF, but no luck...

  • Text characters displayed as # on Bex analyzer (excel)

    Hi all,
I am having issues with Turkish Charaters displayed on the report output on Bex analyser.
The Turkish text characters in the fields like Name 1, Name 2, city are displayed in # format.
This is happening only when the report is executed on Bex analyzer (excel). In BW system I can see the turkish characters properly. There is no # symbol anywhere when i check in cube or master data.
The # sign is not shown when the query is executed on internet explorer(web report). This issue is only with Bex analyzer(excel).
Some sample data is as below.
Correct data in BW cube or master data: ÜCRETLI ÜRETICISI TÜ
The same is displayed when executed the report over web.
But when executed on BEX analyzer(Excel) it shows as: #CRETLI #RETICISI T#
This was not happening last month. I was able to see the turkish characters last month properly on BEX analyzer.
Now we are having this # issue.
Can anyone suggest what could be the problem with? and how we can rectify this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Maddy,
I also think it is a front-end issue.
The texts look fine in RSA1 and in Web Analyzer.
The problem with the codepage variable is that as far as i know it can have only one value.
On my report I have a list of purchase orders with the vendors.
The vendors come form different countries and are maintained by the country's affiliate in their native language.
The user needs to see the texts for all displayed vendors regardless the language and alphabet.
Right now I have probelms with Greek, Bulgarian and Serbian.
But next month the report may contain the vendors from other countries.
Therefore I would have to add all languages to codepage variable.
In fact in my system it doesn't even work for one value.
I also added other languages to windows regional settings but it didn't help.
Do you have any tips on that?
    Thanks,
    Marek

  • PDF output: characters overlap

    Friends,
I have an issue where, my document output is configured for sending email as PDF attachment. The issue is the PDF generated have some characters overlapping.
When printed directly from the document, the output is as expected. The spool created in SP01 also looks perfect.
But if I convert this spool into PDF using RSTXPDFT4, the PDF generated will have the same issue; 'characters are overlapped'.
Can anyone please guide me to find the cause of the issue? Any kind of help will be appreciated.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

We are getting right hand side characters truncated for PDF output when Conc Prog is run through EBS.This is the problem. Is it a seeded or custom concurrent program? Does this happen to all requests or specific ones only?
But while saving the file on dektop and printing both left and right hand side characters gets printed well within the margin area. What if you print the same file from the server using the lp command?
What could be the problem here please?Could anyone please share the resolution.
    Page size used is: 81/2 x 11 - Letter.What is the printer type/style?
    Have you tried different printer?
Also, have you tried to adjust the number of Rows/Columns of this concurrent program?
Please see if (Custom Landscape Reports In PDF Format Print In Portrait Orientation [ID 421358.1]) helps.

  • Text is overlapping and unreadable

    Hi.
Some webpages I attempt to view have text that overlaps and is unreadable. I have tried fooling around with the preferences (fonts and whatnot) but the problem still exists.
This is not on all webpages, just some.
    Any solutions?

I edited my post-- I meant Advanced tab not security tab.
Your resolution is large enough that even a large font, like Times 16, should not present that much of a problem, normally. And although it seems like your fixed width font should be Monoco, or Courier, I don't think that should affect that page either.
I went to your first link, first page only (mcsweeneys), set my font to Times 16 and went further and set my minimum font size under the Advanced tab to 18, and still got no overlap. Same at the craigs list link.
I'm still curious as to what your minimum font is set to in Advanced tab.
Do you have a personal style sheet set up, maybe, where the fonts are larger, or perhaps something else is set that throws these off-kilter?
Are you using a third party accessibility or browser enhancement software that may be deploying a style sheet of its own?
I'm probing just to get some more clues....

  • Characters overlapping in safari

I have a problem with characters overlapping in Safari. I used to work fine, then one day a bunch of sites don't work right. They do however work in firefox.
Another problem I think might be related is; some pages don't load all of the content in Safari, but Firefox will.
I've seen similar posts, but none of them are answered.

    Hi,
www.imageshack.us can be used for hosting a screenshot image, which can then be linked to here by posting the url imageshack creates.
For the font problem, have you tried launching Font Book (in the Applications folder) to see if you have any duplicate fonts? Duplicate fonts will have a bullet point to the right of the name. If any do, select them and then from the Edit menu select 'Resolve Duplicates'
Quit and restart Safari to see if that makes any difference.
Failing that, try running [FontNuke|http://www.jamapi.com/pr/fn> to clear out all font caches.
    Good luck!

  • What is the maximum number of text characters

Probably has been asked before, but what is the maximum number of text characters that can be used in a song title and still be burned to a disk. TIA

Are the files tucked away in some deeply nested folder. I've not used Toast (being a PC) but my experience of other burning software suggests that it is usually designed to truncate the filenames to meet the specification of the format it is using. Also I believe "Red Book" is the audio standard so the output will simply be a number of audio tracks with the accompanying index. Filenames on the output end should be irrelevant, unless you've enabled CD Text which is not Red Book standard, and again Toast should enforce any field limits. Perhaps Toast is having trouble reading the files rather than a problem writing them. I assume the files are on an internal drive and you are not trying to burn DRM'd files.
Use a rewritable disc and clone a small audio file multiple times, giving them filenames of 40,45,50,55 etc. characters then try to burn them in a list of increasing length of filename - see which one Toast hangs on.

  • Text characters left

On my 6100 it shows how many text characters are left in the top right hand corner of the screen but it counts down from 1000. I know I can work it out but is there any way of changing it to 160 which is the standard amount of characters per text?

It should only count down from 1000 if you're writing an MMS...
I had a 6100 and can't remember that happening with it... I may be wrong though, it was a while ago :s

  • Stripping non text characters

I am generating a fixed format file from data out of a MSSQL DB ( that i have read only permissions) that is an import file to another program ( which i also don't have access to source code) . My problem is that some of the DB data has non text characters which causes the program that is accepting the data to throw
java.io.IOException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The char '0x19' in 'whatEver String that has a bad character' is not a valid XML character
    My solution was
         for( int i = 0; i < myString.length(); i++){
              b = (byte)myString.charAt(i);
              if( b > 31 && b <127)
              sb.append( blk.charAt( i));
         }

Better solution: Get the encoding right. At some point your code (or some other application) does some conversion from binary (byte[]/InputStream/OutputStream/...) to text (char[]/Reader/Writer/String/...). That place does so incorrectly.
Find out the encoding of the binary data and apply that when transforming.

  • Text height/overlapping bug

We are having a problem where part of a previous textline is
overlapping the next line. The tails of letters like "j" and "g"
and "y" are overlapping the next line when we have different font
sizes. From our text metrics debugging, the line height seems to be
off by the descent amount. I am using build 5011. Here is sample
    code to recreate the problem.

I think this is not a bug, but a byproduct of the fact that
TLF is doing baseline leading. TLF is placing the first line based
on the largest ascent on the line. You can alter the placement of
this line down by changing the value of the firstBaselineOffset
property. The second line is placed according to its lineHeight
propery (also sometimes called the leading). In this case, the
lineHeight is the default value, 120% of the largest fontSize,
which with the fontSize=12 will be 14.4 pixels. So the second line
is placed so that its baseline is 14.4 pixels below the baseline of
the first line. In this case, that's too tight.
There are a couple of things you could do to space the
paragraphs out further. You could assign a larger lineHeight to the
second line, either a larger percentage or absolute pixel value. Or
you could add space between the two paragraphs by assigning a
positive value to the first paragraph's marginBottom. Or you could
set the marginTop of the second paragraph.
Baseline leading is a different model from that used by most
word processors, including Microsoft Word. It is used in
applications such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. The advantage
is that it gives the user more control over how the lines are
placed. The disadvantage is cases like these where it doesn't do
    the right thing by default.
I hope that one of these proposals is a viable solution to
    your problem.
    Thanks!

  • After Effects CS6: Adjacent text layers overlap by one frame, can't fix it

Adjacent text layers, which we are using to subtitle bits of video, butt up against each other and in some instances it's fine (the text changes at the correct frame), but in others the text from the first one bleeds by one frame into the second and overlaps. If I shorten the time on the first one by one frame, there is a gap with no text. How can I fix this? The comp is built from the video so the frame rate of the comp is the same for the video file.
    Thanks for any help!
    Glen

Thanks very much Mylenium for your help - I've scoured the file looking for everything you mention, and there anything fancy at all. I'm using no time-stretching or remapping, simply putting a text layer on top of a video, and moving its in and out points. No blurs or odd keyframes as far as I can tell. Video and comp are both 29.97 framerate (comp created using "New comp from selection").
