Text link and open browser window
Hello
I have successfully done this clicking on an image using
behaviours 'open browser window' to open a larger version of the
image and I would like to do the same with a text link eg 'click
here for Terms and Conditions' and have that web page open in the
same way setting the width, height etc. I can't seem to do it. Any
help gratefully accepted!
Thank you very much in advance.

An easy way to do follow James sage advice, once you've added
the Open
Browser Window behavior to your's link, is to run the free DW
Extension
divaFreeTools on your page. It will update the DW
OpenBrowserWindow
Behavior to work properly when javascript is off and help
Search Engines
find your linked page/image.

Hot spots and Open Browser Window
I have created a site see www.blingbongs.com...
At the bottom right of the screen it says "meet the Crew"
which is a jpeg, with a hotspot over the top. I hae then asigned a
Java action of "Open Browser Window" using the attribute "On Mouse
Click", in the link box there is a #. As ar as I am aware this
should work on all browsers, but it doesn't. We have two machines,
both installed with exactly the same version of I.E6 yet on one of
the machines it is just not working, the browser window doesn't
open and in fact nothing seems to happen. It doen't seem to work on
Firefox either.
I need a reliable open browser window script that doesn't get
blocked - is it the hotspot or the java that is causing this
problem, or is it the combination of the two. Is there another form
of open browser window that we can use, or is the day of a static
html page beforea flash page out!
Is this just another case of Microsft being buggers - please
help - I don't know what to do? :(
Thanks

Question about Behaviors and Open Browser Window
First my link:
http://www.progressity.com/portfolio.htm
I've created a Portfolio section in my web site. When you
click on one of the thumbnails you get a small browser window
(setup with Behaviors/Open Browser Window size settings) with a
link to visit the site. The problem is in visiting the actual site
the browser window is locked to the smaller size. What am I
missing? I didn't set a behavior for the "visit site" link. But
it's defaulting to the same size.Old Shoe wrote:

You didn't do anything wrong. If your browser window is a
certain size, then
if you click on a link in it, it will stay that size. What
you might want to
do is enable the scrollbars and resizing for the web site New
Browser
Windows so when it opens small the user can enlarge the
window. Though you
probably want the toolbars and everything to show so they can
actually
navigate.

Open Browser Window Text Link??
Two questions:
1) Can I make a text link use the open browser window function, if so how? Here is the attempt that has failed:
<div class="style11" id="apDiv47" onfocus="MM_openBrWindow('BWPages/BW1002.html','','width=325,height=546')">#1002</div>
2) How to properly code the open browser window function, so that when I use an image as the link the cursor becomes a hand instead of an arrow? Here is what I have:
<img src="images/cards/Icons/card1002.jpg" alt="Motif_2" width="135" height="193" border="0" onclick="MM_openBrWindow('BWPages/BW1002.html','','width=325,height=546')" />

All of a sudded, my firefox browser isnt allowing my to click links and open pages, or open anything on the top area of the screen. For example i go to my email and i cant click on inbox, send, create, folders, mark as unread. It is like this on every website?? Its really annoying i cant do anything becasue most sites have login at the top of the screen and i cant login to anything.
That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

Open Browser Window Behavior - Why is hover cursor and I-beam vs finger?
Why do links that use the Open Browser Window Behavior create
an I-Beam when one mouses over while all other links display the
finger icon? The I-Beam is hard to see and not the "normal" thing a
visitor to a site expects to see when hovering on a link. Anybody
know what this is about?
I am attaching the code. At least I think I am...
And here is a page in a site I am working on that shows this
phenomenon:
Click
here.
The link I am referring to is in the body: "Let's try a Notes
Popup here"
Thanks!Your A tag is missing its href atrribute, which in this case
should be
"popuptest_1.html" and then add ";return false;" after the
openBrWindow
call, so this:
<a style=""
onclick="MM_openBrWindow('popuptest_1.html','','resizable=yes,width=300,height=200')">Let
try a Notes Popup here.</a>
becomes this:
<a style="" href="popuptest_1.html"
onclick="MM_openBrWindow('popuptest_1.html','','resizable=yes,width=300,height=200');retu rn
false">Let's try a Notes Popup here.</a>

iPad running iOS 5 has on the menu bar only have 4 icons, being: back, forward, bookmarks, and the "add to bookmarks", but is missing an icon after the "add to bookmarks" arrow, that is a "show all open browser windows" icon. How do I get it in my safari?
What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....
I have been running iOS 5x for so long now, that I don't even remember if that icon did appear in earlier iOS versions -
When a linked .pdf is clicked, it downloads rather than following the link and opening in another safari window.
Thanks for the tip, but I had already tried this and it did not help. The File still downloads and , at the same time, a new Safari window opens - but the Safari window is blank.
Another discussion thread related to this problem is:
How do I prevent automatic downloading of .pdf files?
but this deals with Safari 5.1 which evidently has a problem with Adobe Reader.
I am using Safari 5.0, so the suggested solutions do not apply. ( I tried them anyway, but they did not work.) -
Missing options of "Enter Private Browsing" "Open new tab" and "Open new window" when right click (right context menu) firefox icon on taskbar.
i already tired complete uninstall and reinstall, but the options are still missing.

Thank You in advance for help. Best regardsHello,
''jstavene wrote:''
can find nothing under the tools menu for private browsing?
Then it's not the same issue.
If Firefox is set to '''Never remember history''', then you're in “permanent private browsing” mode, in which case the menu item ''Stop Private Browsing'' will be grayed out. Perhaps that's the case, and you don't find the menu item easy to see?
* [[Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track]]
If that's not the case, then menu items can be hidden using the userChrome.css file. Check if it exists, and if it's there, rename it, then restart Firefox.
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css
In Firefox Nightly (what will become Firefox 20), per-window private browsing has been added, so the menu item under the Tools menu is gone. It's been replaced by New Private Window under the File menu. I don't suppose it's very likely that you're using such a cutting-edge test version of Firefox though.
If that doesn't solve the problem, since it's a different issue, it would be best if you would ask a new question.

I am facing this problem since a month.I never faced this problem before.I always feel good to use Mozilla Firefox as my browser.I used to open multiple tabs in a same browser window. For example- in a tab I logged in to Facebook,at same time I might be downloading songs or something else or open another site in the other tab.It might be 2 or 3 tabs sometimes. But now a days,I am facing the problem whenever I open multiple tabs. Its unusual and so much annoying. The Firefox crashes and the browser window closes showing a messege to send an error report. Please Help me.
N.B. - I am using the Windows service pack 2.
RAM - 2 GB
Hard disk MEmory - 250 GB.I had this same problem. Seems to be caused by the web developer tool bar FF extension (this started happening after a recent update to that extension). After disabling it, my FF is back to normal :)

Open browser window behavior in Mac not working right
I am simply selecting my text in my html document and then selecting "Open Browser Window" from the Behaviors panel. I then put in the info for the file I want it to open along with the size, etc...
When I test it in the browser (Safari) the link works but the rollover features don't show ... it doesn't show as a link in the browser window. I followed the tutorial exactly and the instructor's browser showed the link as a rollover. It's driving me a bit crazy.
I'm using CS5 on the latest version on Mac OS (Snow Leopard).
I can put up an example if needed.
Thanks so much for any assistance.

Do you have that page on your site? Is that your home page?
Perhaps you have some hidden redirection going on via an htaccess file? I dunno.... -
I use the Open Browser Window behavior with the <A>
onClick attribute for many images and text links on my site. Works
fine, UNTIL the page gets updated via a change on the main
template. Then the link gives me a javascript error. To fix I have
to pull up each page, open the behavior, OK to save and then resave
the page. No changes made, the code does not appear to change, but
then it works. As my site grows this is becoming more and more of a
nusiance to remeber to "fix" every page that has such behaviors on
it.
I have search the forum, but didn'[t come across a similiar
error. Has anyone seen this. Is there a fix
Thanks! This means that your template does not contain the required
javascript for
the OpenBrowserWindow behavior in the head of the page. If it
did, then
every child page would contain the necessary code, and you
wouldn't have to
do the song and dance that you are doing.
Make sure it goes in a NON-EDITABLE region of the template
page.
The downside to this is that each page gets the code
(admittedly it's a
small bite) whether it needs it or not....
So - what you should do is open the particular page that has
just broken,
run through your procedure again (which writes the required
code into the
head of the page, and then copy that code (from
<script...> though
</script>), and paste it into the template page in the
same location. When
you save the template page, all child pages will be updated.
There's one nagging problem here, though. If the procedure
you describe is
working without error, then it is also true that DW is
writing that markup
into an EDITABLE region of the head of the page. If that's
the case, then
WHY IS A TEMPLATE UPDATE OVERWRITING THIS? I don't know -
would need to see
your page to know for sure....

A:hover with "open browser window" behavior?
Hi,
Is it possible to make a text link follow the a:hover style (CSS?) with the behavior of "open browser window"?
I've been using the "OnClick" option (for behaviors), but the cursor doesn't turn into the little hand symbol so I feel like people won't know that you can click on it. If I could make it change color like it does when it is a direct link, or if i could make the hand symbol appear, that would be great.
Thank you in advance!!We'd need to see your code but I'm guessing you did not highlight the link text and make it a null link.

DW CS3 - open browser window issue
I've set up some text links to open a new browser window and

window. I want the original page to remain unchanged. What am I
doing wrong?? Thanks in advance for any help.jcecz wrote:

hmm, sounds like you may have solved your problem in an
undesirable way.
I am guessing now, but your solution replaces the href value
with # ?
That will work, however it will also make it impossible for
folks with
javascript turned OFF - or Search Engines which do not use
javascript -
to reach your linked page. Instead do this:
<a
href="
http://www.temple.edu/photo/photographers/cartier_bresson/pages/boy.htm"
onclick="MM_openBrWindow('
http://www.temple.edu/photo/photographers/cartier_bres
son/pages/boy.htm','','scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=400,height=500');return
false">Henri Cartier-Bresson</a>
Notice I inserted ";return false" in there. Now everyone will
get to
see your linked page, with or without javscript.

Open Browser Window for QT movie
I am not good with code yet so I work in the design mode. I
am using DMX for mac and I am wanting to link text to a QuickTime
movie. I use the Open Browser Window method and choose my window
height and width. In the Properties window I place
"javascript:%void(0)" in the Link box to give the link a Null link.
I have no problems with Safari, Netscape, Firefox opening up the
media file and playing it fine. IE on both Mac and PC will not open
up a .mov file. The fixed window sits there and the thinking
indicator just spins. IE will open up a .jpg file though with no
problems.
I assume a lot of my viewers will be using IE so I want to
get it working.
Any thoughts. Remember, code does not little good. Sorry.
DavidLet's make it a 100%. It isn't possible - the way you imagine
at least it isn't.
You could try to work around with css-layers and flash
javascript communication, but this wont be very reliable. Cotting
up you flash and using an i-frame would be more reliable, but also
not really fun to do.
