Text wrap works in Safari/Firefox NOT in IE 6 & 7

I am banging my head against a wall here. I started this site using all CSS and then found out that IE 6&7 users were seeing a text overlap. I've searched and monkeyed and doctored – so now there is no overlap, but the wrap is not workin - the text flows oddly with big gaps.
I can't get this now CSS/HTML hybrid to work. Is there a way to fix this?
Here's the test page:
http://www.yale.edu/egyptology/tester_page9.htm
Here's the CSS I was using:
.imgRight {
   float: right;
   position: relative;
   padding:12px;
   display: inline;
Thank you in advanced,
PB Hastings

Yes.  Cleaner code.  Open a New blank HTML document.  In code view, paste my code into your blank document.  Notice the differences - no tables, no span text, etc..  It's much easier without them.

    Dreamweaver text looks fine in Safari but not Firefox, all my text goes out of alignment and the fonts look like different sizes. Please let me know your thoughts. Here is a link to the page I'm having problems with. http://www.alexandrasantibanez.com/bio.html

    I had the same problem for days what a waste of time trying
    to figure out code... the code was fine. I was running flash player
    7.0 Upgrade your flash plugin to 9.0 and it should work fine in
    Firefox and IE. It did for me.

  • Flash with QT 7.3 works in Safari, but not in Firefox

    Like many others here, I have been having issues with the upgrade to QT 7.3 and Flash. I've followed a few different suggestions from here on the forums, but I've only been able to get Flash working in Safari; Firefox remains mysteriously broken. Has anyone else been having issues with Flash in Firefox only?
    I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.9 and Flash 9.0.47 (the latest version available for download from Adobe's site). I'm planning on upgrading to 10.5.1 soon, and while I didn't see the Flash/QT problem addressed in the list of bugs that it was supposed to fix, I still wonder if that might help.

    Well, after about five hours retracing my steps, I finally figured out the offending code - it was the submit button.
    On this page:
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/consumer_add_query/index.php
    It works fine with:
    <input type="submit" name="KT_Insert1" id="KT_Insert1" value="Post your query" />
    But on this page:
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/consumer_add_query/indexb.php
    It only works in Safari with:
    <input name="KT_Insert1" type="image" id="KT_Insert1" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('KT_Insert1','','../images/buttons/post_enquiry2.jpg',1)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" value="Post your query" src="../images/buttons/post_enquiry1.jpg" border="0" />
    As its now nearly 2:30am, I'm not going to try to figure why that should be right now.
    Its nothing if not frustrating sometimes, this web design lark!

  • Flash Player works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9

    I've installed Flash Player 10.3 and it works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9. When I look in Manage Add-Ins I see Flash Shockwave but not Flash Player. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit). Safari is 5.0.5 and IE 9 is 9.0.8112.16421. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash Player and uninstalling Norton 360. Nothing has worked so far. Can you help?

    Thank you for your reply. Shockwave is loaded and enabled.
    The files in flash directory are: a folder called FlashPlayerTrust: file, flash10q.ocx: file, FlashInstall.log; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.dll; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.exe, file, install.log.
    There is no file: NPSWF32.dll.
    When I test the browsers I get no spinning logo in either Safari or IE9. Safari says: missing plug-in, where I think the logo should be. IE-9 says nothing at the same location.
    Thanks.

  • This site works in Safari but not in Firefox

    This site works fine in Safari but not in the latest version of Firefox on 2 of my computers:
    http://ase.tufts.edu/biology/labs/levin/resources/books.htm
    I've cleared cache, restarted, etc. - no good. On Safari, I see a bunch of tiled thumbnails for various books on Amazon. On Firefox, I see absolutely no thumbnails, just rows of text and horizontal lines (I can't figure out how to upload attachments here).

    Aha! Restarting without add-ons fixed it. I must have something that blocks iframes with links to Amazon books. Thanks!

  • Problems with iweb and safari - 'buttons' not working in safari/firefox...

    Hello. Help! I've been using iweb for a while with no probs - but on trying to launch my most recent site I'm finding the navigation buttons (graphic images not text buttons) work fine in iweb on my mac, plus fine on a PC but only partially in safari/firefox browsers... see sarahgreen.me and you will see that none of them work on the home page. Is this some kind of bug? I was wondering if it is anything to do with there being too many objects on the page or something? They are fine on a PC.
    Thanks for any ideas.
    Sarah

    In iWeb do Command-Shift-L to see the layout of the page.
    The content in the Navigation layer is blocking the content of the Header layer. The body layer is empty.
    Move ( +Use Command-drag+ ) EVERYTHING in the Navigation layer and EVERYTHING in the Header layer INTO the Body layer.
    Put content where it belongs.

  • Input type="image" only works in Safari, but not IE or Firefox?

    Having accidentally discovered a form on a site I am working on was only working in Safari, I've just spent about five hours retracing my steps, before eventually discovering that the code that was making the form fail was my submit code.
    The page I was looking at had quite a bit of validation, CAPTCHA code and some jQuery to style some drop downs, so I figured something there was the issue.
    But it turned out just to be the submit button.
    I've just tried it on my contact page, and its failing in Firefox (Mac) too (and so I assume IE as well.)
    Should this work, or is using input type="image" on a form submit button a big no no?
    This code works:
    <input type="submit" name="KT_Insert1" id="KT_Insert1" value="Post your query" />
    But this code does not work (except, it seems, in Safari):
    <input name="KT_Insert1" type="image" id="KT_Insert1" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('KT_Insert1','','../images/buttons/post_enquiry2.jpg',1)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" value="Post your query" src="../images/buttons/post_enquiry1.jpg" border="0" />
    Or am I missing something here?

    Thanks for that - might have realised this a lot earlier if it didn't work in Safari!
    I assume I just need some CSS like:
    .formbutton
      background-image: image1.jpg;
    .formbutton :hover
      background-image: image2.jpg;
    And:
    <input type="submit" name="KT_Insert1" id="Send" value="Send message" class="formbutton" />

  • Built-in iSight not working in Safari/Firefox after 10.6 or 10.6.1 update

    Hello,
    My built-in iSight is no longer working in Safari or Firefox. For example, if I were to go to a website to broadcast my webcam, the flash applet comes up asking to allow/deny the use of camera, I allow, but the camera does not engage (green light does not turn on).
    The iSight works fine in Photo booth, skype, iChat etc...
    I've had this problem since 10.6, and updated 10.6.1 with no luck.
    Thanks,
    Lee

    Is this anything like what I'm getting:

To confuse you further when I chose what camera to use it either says "Built in iSight" or "Built in iSight Leopard" - Leopard gives me a green screen and no leo gives me the issue "in use with another application".
    sorry if this is off topic
    Hello danleedham
    From these symptoms, you have software problems. It may be difficult to determine precisely where.
    If you have not yet used your Disk Utility to repair permissions, do so now and then test again.
    If permissions repair does not help, test with other Apple apps like iMovie and iChat. If even Apple apps give problems, create a new user account as suggested in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 and test the Apple apps again.
    If nothing but PhotoBooth works in any user account you test, and especially if you still see different camera error messages, either seek help from an Apple Service Technician or backup all important files and then reinstall your Macs software. After reinstalling your Mac software, test iSight with Apple apps before reinstalling any third party apps. If you can make iSight work reliably, add any necessary third party apps and peripherals one-at-a-time, testing between each addition. This kind of testing will let you determine whether your software is properly installed and whether any of your non-Apple system elements is causing your trouble.

    I finally figured how to use my website so that when you type in the domain it redirects to the mobile me website. However, it is working just great on safari but not on explorer or firefox.

    I have always used GoDaddy's forward and masking utilities and its worked great. When Apple updated iWeb to 08 with the ability to auto forward, I had lots of issues and thus went back to setting up my GoDaddy preferences to auto-forward and mask my site. GoDaddy has the very best phone support on the planet which makes up for one of the worst websites on the internet. Call them up and have them walk you through auto-forwarding and masking. • Photo Gallery - works in Safari but not Firefox .. ?

    Hi,
    I have a photo gallery at http://www.sg-karting.com/Racing/Photos/Photos.html
    When I go into the albums, pictures are displayed in Safari but not on Firefox.
    When creating this page on iWeb I selected 'Web Gallery' instead of 'Album'. Does this make any difference?
    Regards.

    I have just visited "http://www.sg-karting.com/Racing/Photos/Pages/KartingEdgeRound-1.html" using both Safari Version 3.0.4 (523.12) and Firefox version 2.0.0.9 on a G4 PB 10.4.11. And both browsers displayed the same information from what I can see. All the pictures revealed themselves.
    Have I picked the correct album for your example?
    I tried other area's of your web site and all appeared to be the same as the Safari. Maybe you need to clear your cache.

    I've been working on a form where users can post an enquiry to a database.

  • Firefox 3.6.12 does not load nay images from Joomla sites 1.5.21 and above. Works on Safari but Not Firefox. This happened after the firefox upgrade. All Joomla 1.5.20 and below work ok. why is this happening?

    I have been developing Joomla sites for more than 4 years now and generally all the Joomla sites work well in Firefox. In this case, however, ever since Joomla upgraded to 1.5.21 and above, all Joomla sites on this level are having problems with Firefox 3.6.12 loading images.
    We have tested a number of Joomla template manufactures and all the results are the same.
    This problem is with the macbook pro only thus far. All the other apple products, like the towers, etc. are fine.
    Not sure why this is happening. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Leland

    Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
    BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
    Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • Is there a way to zoom and text wrap on ipad safari

    Dear all
    Now I am in iOS 6 and still the text doesn't wrap on safari *after pinch and zoom*
    So one is forced to keep scrolling to read *every* line !! And that is annoying
    The grey reader ikon does NOT appear on all web pages ...I know I know there are limitations
    So what is the solution to wrap text on a web page after pinch and zoom ?
    Does one have to still run around to other browsers ( like atomic or whatever ) or is there some hope in safari ?
    Or should one go to the android world ?
    Or what ?
    I tried installing the readeability book marklet but that too does NOT work on all pages ( again checked on safari )
    SO IT BOILS DOWN TO word wrap on safari OR whatever browser after pinch and zoom
    Is there a way to wrap text AFTER pinch answer zoom on safari ?
    Any help , tips, workaround (free ) would be appreciated whole heatedly
    TIA
    regards
    Subu

    Thanks for the reply James
    I am NOT sure if we are on the same page / same understanding ...so let me try again
    All below on an ipad 2, iOS 6+ OS , all legal NO jailbreak
    1. Take a sample public page ...example http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/50104/000005010413000019/tso10k2012-ex322 .htm
    2. Pl open this on an iOS ...mobile safari browser
    3. When I open it on my ipad 2 , iOS 6+ OS browser I do NOT see the reader facility and for my old eyes the font is small
    4. However BEFORE zoom the text IS properly text wrapped to fit inside an iPads screen
    5, I need to read this page , as I said the font is too small for me , so I pinch and zoom on my safari page as displayed on ipad 2
    6. Now the lines are longer than the ipad screen and I need to keep scrolling left and right to read any line fully !!!
    7. I want the text to be aligned AFTER zoom
    8. Am I making myself clear ?
    Thanks in advance for your tips , ideas

  • Bluetooth issue when working with Safari but not other applications

    I have tried two new bluetooth headsets (Motorola 9HD and Sony DR-BT100cx) that both can Pair with and work just fine with the local itunes application and any DVD I use. But these devices do not work with Safari. I tried going to Hulu, YouTube, etc and i can tell the bluetooth device is 'listening' because I can hear it click or wait for a signal. But I never hear anything. If i switch over to DVD or my Podcasts that are local, it works fine. If I go to bluetooth settings and select 'stop using headset' the MacBook speakers pick up right away.
    Note: I am a brand new Mac user, so please disregard my OS version I have selected. I have no idea how to find my OS version, nor do I know how to install Firefox to see if it is simply a browser issue.
    Thanks,
    Jay

    I have the same issue. I've tried 3 different btooth headsets, and they all react the same:
    - music: ok
    - skype: ok
    - webcasts / video (safari or firefox): no sound, and video stops
    HOWEVER: same system, same headset, using Internet Explorer in my windows xp VM: everything works.
    Anyone know how to contact Apple and log this issue?
