"Text wrapping" labels (or other elements) in a BorderContainer?

Hello, I have been using Flex since Flex 2.0 but am new to the recommended Spark layout elements/containers/groups.
Is there a way to get a Container to force internal elements to "wrap" (like text wrapping, ie. to automatically move down below if there is no space left in the container for them)...
I know I could probably work a hack in which I measure the width of each element I am adding, keep a running tally to determine if there is width left in the BorderContainer, and move the element down to a new row (maybe I would need a new HGroup to do this?) accordingly, but I was wondering if there is a more straightforward or efficient way.
In particular, I am adding a sequence of words as button-style labels (ie. labels with rollover and click events for each word), hence I cannot benefit from the auto-wrapping feature of a Text element, though I need my series to be constrained into a specific space similar to the Text display. Can this be easily done using Container or Group/HGroup?

Is there a way to allow text wrapping on the outside (parent) group label IN SSRS Bar chart?

I am using SSRS 2012. I have a series of charts that have multiple category groups. When I preview the chart, everything looks great unless the category group label is too long. In that case it just gets cut off. I've tried allowing
"wrapped text", changed interval values,font size for Y AXIS but that seems to only affect the inside (child) category group. Is there a way to allow text wrapping on the outside (parent) group label?
I am expecting AREA VIII BUT it shows AR on y axis.
I need to fix it asap.

Actually, I can reproduced the issue in my local Reporting Services environment. If there are multiple category groups on the chart, the child category can be wrapped, but the parent category would be truncated. Based on my research, this behavior looks
like by design. Usually, the best practice is to limiting label length and number of items, use a smaller size label font or enlarge the chart size to get the chart to display properly.

"Other elements alternate text failed"

In the accessibility report, the “Other elements alternate
text” check keeps failing. It is identifying figures, which already have
alternative text under their figure tag, as “other elements.” Is there any way
to solve this problem?
Also, with all of the elements that are registering as “failed,”
I am not able to locate them in the tags panel because I get the message “The
selection was not found in the tags panel.”

Report (Word type) text wrap options

Hi all:
I am using the Report Generation Toolkit in LabVIEW 8.5 and creating a report in MS Word. I have the report looking good, but it is really more of a starting point for the user, so I want to make their use of the file in MS Word easier by making a change that I have not been able to make. I include some graphs using the "Append Control Image" VI, but they are set to "Inline with Text" style text wrapping (a Layout option in MS Word). I would like them to be "Square" text wrapping. I have not been able to find anything in the RGT or any ActiveX property that even addresses this feature. Does anybody know how to do this in LabVIEW?

Hi BJ,
I've looked through the VIs for Report Generation and I think your best option may be to set up a template for your report. With a template, you can have all of the formatting taken care of beforehand and then simply insert whatever elements you want from LabVIEW. Hope this helps!

Text wrap crash ID6 in OSX8

ID CS6 - 8.0.0.370
OS 10.8 (12A269)
Trying to reposition a text-wrapped box containing grouped text and a small logo within main A5 size page text causes ID6 to crash. Have submitted a crash repro but no fix found yet.
Recreating the inserted box elements and regrouping does not work as crahes again. Moving the main text off then back on page also causes a crash if text wrapped object is there.
Deleting the page and creating a new one does not solve the problem.
This does not happen on every similar page but, when ID crashes, the problem persists thereafter with the buggy page.
Tearing my hair out - any ideas anyone?

I tried already without the logo. The design uses graphics which have been successfully placed many times as they are standing items.
The issue seems to be to do with text box resizing as it now has happened on another page with no logo. The only difference in the system setup is the use of ID6 and Lion OS8.

Text wrap issue

I had graphic elements on a page that I had text wrapped around correctly. I dedcided I was going to use those elements for all pages, so I moved them to the masters. When I did that, the text wrap went away. It still shows up on the master pages, but its not applying to any of the document pages.
I can fix this manually, but I have to believe as good a program as ID is, that this little issue can't have been overlooked.
Anyone out there have a solution?

That was one of the short-comings of earlier versions of ID -- Text wrap on a master item only worked on the other master page items, not on a live page.
Short of scripting, about the best option I can think of is to select it on the master page and cut it it to the clipboard, then "paste in place" on each live page, which is a real pain in the neck.
I'd definitely ask in the scripting forum if anyone has a script for CS2 already written.

Centering text & wrapping words on lines

Hi all,
I need to have a JLabel that centers the text in it, and allows for multiple lines, where if a line is too long, it wraps onto the next line.
I started off with a JTextArea, setting "setLineWrap" and "setWrapStyleWord", and this works fine for long lines of text. But, I need to have the text centered as well. Is there any way of doing this? I know JTextPane can do it, but I can't see how to do it in JTextArea.

Use a JLabel, with HTML text content and set the preferred size of the label as well. This will do auto line wrap;

I would like to extract the names (labels) of my elements in a cluster automatically, how can I do that?

Because I want to write down the data in a cluster to a textfile, I need a header line. I'd like to have one consisting of the names of the elements in the cluster. And I'd like to extract them automatically, because I don't want to create 60 property nodes.

Dynamically changing the labels on the elements of a cluster doesn't seem to be easily possible. Perhaps this is due to the need for name matching in the Unbundle by Name function.
It is possible, however, to change the caption dynamically. Same method as given above, but write to the caption.text property. An example is attached if you're reading this through the NI web site.

Text Wrap Options have Disappeared ID CS4

All the icons in my Text Wrap window have disappeared. The tab/pallet is still there, but empty. The pop out still lists “Show Options” and “Apply to Master Page Only” are still there, but grayed out. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Text Wrap options not showing in InDesign CS3

Using InDesign CS3 on a Mac 10.4. I've had this problem for a couple of months now and it's getting past the point of annoying. When I open my text wrap options pallete it's blank even when I expand options. I can see the text wrap icons in my header panel, but I no longer have options to change the right/left/top/bottom margins. Just a general "add wrap" and "remove wrap". Is there any way I can get my pallete back? I've tried defaulting my tools, but still it does not show up. I don't know what to do to get it back.

Did you try resetting preferences? While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. If you don't get the message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

Text wrap options have disappeared

Dear All,
The options in the Text wrap panel have suddenly disappeared and the "show options" selection is completely greyed out...Text Wrap is completely blank. I'm working with Adobe InDesign CC. Any suggestions? The options were there yesterday, but gone today!

Doesn't sound like it's the right folder. You need to be in your user library, ~/library/ or hard drive/<your user name>/library/. I'm not a Mac user so I can't really guide you through the steps to get there beyond what's in the help tpoic and the tread information in the prefs post. You need to be very careful reading the path information -- there are very similar, but different paths listed for the two files.

Text wrap not working... What am I doing wrong?

Hi... I guess I do not know how to set up the text wrap in reflow to follow the size of the container that it is in...
I have created a text box with the text the size I want and the width and hight of the box is correct... While editing the text it wraps correctly... But the moment I un-select the the text it ignores its container and overflows... Basically goes from being vertical text back to horizontal... I tried the different overflow options in the layout tab but no luck...
Here are some images for reference... This one is correct and following the wrap (but only happens when i am editing the text)
But then when I deselect the text... The wrap goes away and this happens... Even though you can see the container is still the same width...
My plan is to have it be vertical for desktop browser sizes and then be horizontal for mobile and tablet... I was really hoping it was as easy as setting the size of text box... But it is not seeming to work...

Just tried adobe direct support via chat to get help on this.... OMG I wanted to blow my brains out... So very very unhelpful and a complete waste of time.... They had no idea and said moderators on the forums would be better support... I explained that I had asked this question on there several days ago.... Getting so over adobe... WOW!

Text wrap not working properly CS4

Despite trying numerous times over last few days, reviewing multiple tutorials to make sure I know what I'm doing, I simply cannot get the text wrap options to work properly. In SOME instances (not all ... why?!?) I can select text wrap, but when I try to make further adjustments (wider margin or switch to object wrap, for instance), it simply does not allow selection. The choices once I'm in the text wrap box are grayed out (margins, contour box, etc) as not available. WHAT is going on?! Do I have defective software? Is it me? I've even reinstalled the whole CS4. <aarrggh> I am SO frustrated!

Things like this are almost always attributable to user error.

Text Wrap not working in Muse (CC 2014)

I'm attempting to wrap text around a slideshow. I have already inserted the slideshow in the text box, used the wrapping options to justify to the left, with the text running to the right and beneath the slideshow. In the design layout, it shows up perfectly. However, in the preview tab as well as previewing on the web, the wrapping does not show. The slideshow simply appears over the text, with the text running behind the slideshow. Any ideas on how to fix this problem or is it simply a bug that Adobe needs to eventually correct? Hard to tell from the screenshots. A couple nuances of text wrap that may be unexpected:
1) If you select an item with text wrap and move it up or down in Design view, that will move the item but will not change the area that is knocked out for text wrap purposes. Thus text can overlap on object that has text wrap applied if the item has been moved up or down while in the text flow.
2) Where an object is inserted in a flow is important. Generally it will provide the most predictable behavior if the graphic is inserted at the very start of a paragraph. If a graphic is inserted in the middle of a paragraph and text wrap is applied, exactly where the graphic will appear will be dependent on how the browser line breaks the text of the paragraph before where the graphic was inserted. A change in line breaks can result in the graphic appearing a line higher or lower in one browser versus another, since every browser has it's own text layout engine.
Assuming neither of the 2 points above fit what you're seeing, it's probably most expedient to send us the .muse file along with a link to this thread for context at [email protected] and a note to let us know where to find the problem situation within the file so we can see the exact situation and settings for what you're encountering. If the file is larger than 20Mb you'll want to send it using a service such as Adobe Send, WeTransfer, Dropbox, etc. Thanks.

Text Wrap not working

I thought to create a text wrap you simply created a polygonal shape, selected it, and chose "Text Wrap" from the Options menu.
In a new draw document, I am creating a text frame, filling it with text, creating a polygon, and with it selected choosing "Text wrap" > "Irregular," but the text does not wrap.

Click on the text frame to select it, then go Options > Frame Links
Wrap in Draw documents will work only if the text is in a frame to which Frame linking has been applied. It's not necessary that the frame be actually linked to a second frame.
