TextArea component & external css

hello, i have searched but not found an answer...
i can style the text with an internal style sheet (within the
flash file), but i wonder if this can be done on a textArea from an
external CSS?

I am new to SAP Design Studio. I am working on creating dashboards and I am using Design Studio 1.2 version. Please suggest some solutions for the following issues. Thanks in Advance.
1. External CSS file which is embeded using custom CSS option under "application component properties" is not working.
* I kept the external CSS file inside repository-> my application folder.
2. During runtime, getting javascript error while selecting '-' option from filter panel.
3. Unable to select or type dimension name under "dimension filer component" properties.
4. Getting runtime error for dropdown list, and I have inserted the following code under "onStartup" option of Application component properties.
"DROPDOWN_1.setItems(DS_1.getMemberList("PRODUCTREF", MemberPresentation.INTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 20));
and dimension values are not populated in auto suggest."

There should be an Error Log under View > Error Log that gives you more details of these errors. Could you add that? There is also a View > Script Problems log that provides more details as well.

How can i display image in mx:TextArea Component?

I found display img tag in htmlText of mx:TextArea component
is very difficult in Flex Air
I new a simple air project in flex builder, put the code
below in it, i put a glad.png file in the src folder, every thing
is OK, when i run it, image cannot be displayed. why this happend,
I search the google for the solution, it seems there is a bug in
air, and told me to use mx:HTML coponent, but that component still
can not display img tag.
could any one help me with this?

I ran into a similar problem and wasn't able to find a way to have regular Flex components (like Text and TextArea) display <img> tags in their htmlText. Everything works find in a web-based Flex application, but once the same code was used in AIR, the images just wouldn't display.
I changed my display to use the mx:HTML component and everything worked fine (I was using only external images).

A few questions about using an XML file to add text into a TextArea component set as html

I'm using AS2 in Flash CS3.
I have a TextArea component in the stage that's loading its text from an XML and I've been able to use the ul and li tags to create lists. However, when I try to include a nested list it just inserts a line break between the nested list and the main list rather than indent it further. Is there a solution for this issue?
Failing that, how would I be able to add non-breaking spaces into the XML so they will render inside the TextArea component? I've tried and   without success. I scoured the net for some help with this and found some information about modifying the font embedding xml file with a new entry for the non-breaking space and that didn't work either, so that leaves me somewhat stumped.

flash doesn't handle nested lists (as you now know). you can work-around that limitation using css and creating your own indent styles. css have a marginLeft property you can use.

Can we rebrand flex based component using CSS?

We are new to Flex.
We just built a custom grid component extending ADG using version 4. We would like the consumers (other application developers) use this component within other J2EE based applications with additional customization like
branding or themes. --- can we use external CSS ?
grid columns, order, initial sort order, filtering, , data source ( or backend service url ) to retrieve data, etc ? how can we do it? if this component is offered as an HTTP(S) url, can we pass in parameters to customize before framing it ? which is the best way ?
Please let us know whether it is possible ? If so, how best we can implement it ? Any examples out there? Appreciate if someone can share. It will help us to add this custom grid to our component repository.

For styling, it is very disappointing to know that we are limited. If there is a way to tweak in that will help while Adobe comes out with additional support for styling in future versions.

TextArea component AS3

I'm having trouble both working out or finding out how to
apply an imported css file to the CS3 TextArea component. I've
frequently done this in AS2 using Flash 8, but that code no longer
works. If anyone knows could you please let me know. Here's the AS2
code I've used previously:

I have been using the TextArea component because it has code to handle scrollbars, and in Flash this component is a wrapper for a TextField object. As far as I can see this is not the case in Flex, and my AS3 code sets almost all of the TextField attributes, so I probably can't use Flex and the Flash Builder anyway. At least not without throwing all my code away.
Besides, the .swf file generated seems to be much bigger than in Flash.

TextArea component CS3

I've searched the net, joined Safaribooksonline, bought Colin
Moocks Essential Actionscript 3.0 & Actio0nscript 3.0 cookbook
and nowhere can I find out how to apply an imported css stylesheet
to a CS3 TextArea component. I used to do this all the time in AS2
and it worked a treat. The only help I can find in the CS3
authoring tool and in live docs relates to AS2 which causes errors
in my AS3 class. I'm building a custom TextAreaManager class for my
general use. If anyone knows how to do it please let me know.

Try this example. It's about altering the context menu of the main application, but it might as well work for single components.

I want setting any contentStyle properties in an external css file.
Something like:

Hi Victor,
On the ADF web page (jspx) you have to include the css stylesheet
<link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/untitled1.css" type="text/css"/>
You can create a new CSS file from JDeveloper by right-clicking on the ViewController project, select "New..", once the "New Gallery" window is displayed go to Web tier -> HTML and you will have the "CSS File" option.
What you put inside your css looks good:
.classCss{
width: 60 px;
Note that the width property will affect the whole af:selectOneChoice component, including the label and the different choice values.

External CSS modification

Hi all,
I have a situation which I need to support external CSS files
editing. The customer should be able to modify his CSS files so the
application will get his changes at runtime.
I know of two available Flex solutions to this situation:
1) External CSS approach using StyleManager - correct me if
I'm wrong I need to compile CSS files to SWF to make it work.
2) External CSS using URLLoader which load the CSS file and
it can be parsed with StyleSheet object which works only on
TextField and I didn't get that all the way - why only for
TextField object ???
In the first case I have to compile my CSS and in the second
I have to write some code for getting the style to work with all of
Flex component (using CSSStyleDeclaration)
I'm looking for more elegant solution - is there one?

How can I access the content of a textarea component?

I'm trying to use a javascript form editor in my jsf project.
The form editor writes to an html <textarea> component.
The jsp page looks like this:

I have a similar problem. When I try to watch the rented movie a pop up says "Cannot Open: The content is not authorized" What exactly is the problem. I'm not in the US at the current moment. I'm in France. But that shouldn't be a problem right?

CS4 Live View Won't Display External CSS

I have a simple .html file - all located on my local machine
with an external .css file located in the same folder as the .html
file. Everything displays fine in a browser. Live View won't
display items in my external css file. It displays items in the
inline file fine. If I move items from the external to the inline
file they will appear. Links are relative to the Document in the
site setup. No default images folder defined (images are in a
folder called "images").
I know it's something simple and dunderheaded. Just getting
back into html after a little hiatus. Any help greatly
appreciated.

How to add external css file from _edge.js file

I have tried to add in html page, but when I save edge project it removes it.
I am able to add external js file in scripts:[] in _edge.js file
What we can add inside resources:[] ?
And is there any way to add external css in edge files except in html page and through javascript?

...and which kind of files can be included under

I have a .json file that I need to be included in a template (and also included in projects created from that template).
The only way I found to do this is to add it as a script. The problem then is that all included "scripts" will be evaluated when the page is loaded, which will fail since it's a json file. External dependencies makes it impossible for me to change the format of the json file...

Template that does not let an external css to be attached

i have a template with en editable region for mainContent.
and it is applied to all the pages in my site.
now i want to attach an external css file to one of the pages
that is based on that template, and i get this message:
"a request to create a new style, link or import failed. if
you work with an instance of a template, make sure that you have an
editable region in the head tag".
so i went to my template and selected all the head tag and
made it an editable region.
but i still get the same message.
what can i do?

I am having the exact same problem but my template was saved as a template. I created a page from my template and made editable regions, when I go to create a style it tells me "A request to create a new STYLE, LINK, or IMPORT failed. If you are working with an instance of a template, make certain that there is an editable region within the head tag." I've tried making an editable region within the head tag and it still doesn't work.

How to use external CSS for standard items ?

Hi,
I would like to use my external CSS style-sheet for the standard items I add to my portal page.
I build an UI template with a CSS-link to my css style-sheet, and I used this UI template for my portal page. But it seems that items cannot use this UI template CSS reference.
Is there a way to use external CSS on standard items (text, url,...) ?

Easiest way I find to do it is to drop your css file in the portal/images folder. Make a hidden html portlet on your template and link to /images/mycss.css. You can then use it for many items such as text, links, html portlets, etc.

Loading an external CSS stylesheet

I am new to Flash and trying to get an external CSS
stylesheet to work correctly. I loaded the following sample code
from the Adobe help files but the html text does not format
correctly? If I add a StyleSheet object , then it will format just
fine. The external CSS file is in the same directory as the SWF
file and I'm not getting any error messages. Using IE7 and Flash
Player 9.0.115....Any help would be much appreciated.
