TextField clipping in Adobe Air

I just noticed something unsettling with Adobe Air. I have a
TextField set to "Times New Roman". If you make the text "fffffff",
the last "f" gets clipped. This doesn't happen you play the same
thing using the Flash Player. Has anyone ever noticed this?

No yet, The Open Screen Project is working on taking AIR to cell phones.
Flash Lite is smaller version of Flash with a reduce subset of
features that is installed in more than a billion cell phones worldwide.
Sincerely,
Michael

  • Img Tag in textfield adobe air problem help :(

    Hi there,
    i ve got a textfield on the stage and wanted to give it a img
    tag.
    If i am using flash 9 in publishing, it is no problem.
    if i change to adobe air. There is no img in the textfield.
    Is this a bug???

    I've had the same problem. Using an img tag in a dynamically
    generated text field does not work the same published for AIR as it
    does published for Flash Player. If I use a relative path for the
    image or the class name of a symbol in the library in Flash it
    works perfectly, but neither work if the same code is published for
    AIR. Is there a solution to this that anyone knows of?
    Here's an example:
    var optionFont:Font = new UniversBold();
    var optionFormat = new TextFormat();
    optionFormat.color = 0x27318b;
    optionFormat.bold = true;
    optionFormat.size = 38;
    optionFormat.font = optionFont.fontName;
    var field:TextField = new TextField();
    field.embedFonts = true;
    field.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
    field.defaultTextFormat = optionFormat;
    field.selectable = false;
    field.htmlText = "Hi There <img src='GTE38'> Hi There";
    field.wordWrap = true;
    field.width = 200;
    addChild( field );
    UniversBold and GTE38 are classes in the library. This works
    when published for Flash, but if republished for AIR, the image
    does not show up.

  • Runtime Sharing - Flash Player 10 v Adobe Air 1.5

    Hi,
    [I]I am unsure whether to post this here or in a more specific forum, Mods please feel free to move.[/I]
    I am developing content for both web and desktop (inc Linux) distribution.
    I have a main.swf, which loads in content.swfs from sub folders.  I have some assets (movieclips) which are reused throughout the content swfs, so I have created a shared assets.swf which is in a directory at the same level as the content and within the library i have exported the MC for runtime sharing.
    I then use this MC in other content swfs (Imported for runtime sharing).
    Folder structure looks like this:
    main.swf
    <assets>/content.swf
    <shared_assets>/assets.swf
    The import linkage URL to the assets swf within the Library properties of the content.swf is "shared_assets/assets.swf" as main.swf is loading content.swf so that is take as the reference point for the URL.
    Main.swf simply loads in <assets>/content.swf and adds it to the Stage.
    I build and run main.swf (targeting Flash Player 10) and my movie clip appears as I would expect.
    When I target Adobe Air 1.5 as the player - the movie clip does not appear as the path is incorrect for the linkage within content.swf looking for /assets/shared_assets/assets.swf rather then with FP looking for /shared_assets/assets.swf.  i.e. the Air runtime takes content.swf as the base where as Flash Player takes to root movie (Main.swf) as the base.
    Is it possible to set this base property for my Air distribution or am I stuck with having to have 2 version of all my content - one for web (FP) with the linkage as: "shared_assets/assets.swf", and one for desktop (Air) with the linkage as: "../shared_assets/assets.swf"?
    I have attached a simple example if my description is lacking (simply change the publish settings to target one or other player).
    Thanks for your time - any feedback is most welcome.

  • Adobe AIR 1.5 - Package AIR installer as a native Windows Executable (.EXE)

    Hello Adobe AIR community,
    Is there any way to package the installer for an Adobe AIR application using Adobe AIR 1.5 as an executable (.EXE) file?
    I found that this is possible for Adobe AIR 2.0, but it requires an upgrade to Adobe AIR 2.0 runtime. Are there any other options using the Adobe AIR 1.5 runtime?
    Thanks,

  • Adobe air with premiere pro cloud

    I downloaded premiere pro via cloud. When I click on  help it says I need adobe air.  I already had it on my machine.  But I went to the referred adobe site anyway thinking that it would be a different file, etc.  I could not make heads nor tails of the air site on adobe.
    What I'm looking for is how to get the "link" command to link my files.  It used to be part of the project, right click menu. But it's not there anymore.  So I went to help and the above happened.  Can any one help me with these two problems???

    Do you have a clip selected?  Link Media won't be available unless a clip is selected first.

  • Flash built app with in-app purchases using Adobe AIR

    I am working on building an app using flash which will run on desktop/ios/android, using adobe air to publish the final content. I am pretty proficient using flash, but not so much in actionscript.
    The idea for the app is one of a library where a user can read a free book (short story really) and then have the option to purchase other stories via in-app purchases.
    Does anyone know how this would work best? Should those short stories be located in separate movie clips within the app and are just locked and invisible until the user makes payment? Then when paid they are made visible for the user to read? Or should be be held somewhere externally? Maybe in PDF form, so when the user purchases then they can view the pdf within the app?
    Or what would people recommend?
    Thank you in advance for any help/advice!

    they can be within your app.
    that's easiest and i don't think anyone would bother de-compiling your app to access the paid content.

  • How to Play/Pause All for Adobe Air Application using AS3 in Flash CS4?

    I am new to Flash and I'm creating an educational application in AS3 in Flash CS4 for Adobe Air. I want to use buttons to play and pause all content (movieclips AND sound).
    I have created play and pause buttons that worked by switching the frame rate between 0 and 20, unfortunately I've realised that it's never really 0fps but rather 0.01fps and so it continues playing, albeit very very slowly. Also this doesn't affect the audio; I have set sound files to Stream which are synced to movieclips on their timelines, but even when the application is set to 0fps the audio continues.
    Since I have various levels with numerous movieclips each with synced audio, what i'd like is to be able to do is pause absolutely everything within each movieclip with one button and to be able to resume from the same place using another button. Is this possible? If not, is there a global function to pause/resume the entire application/program?
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Its possible but you would need to tell each movieclip and audioclip to play/pause. You can create a for loop inside your mouse event function to find each movieclip and pause/play its timeline and a separate for loop for audio clips. Also instead of setting fame rate to 0 for pause just use a stop() command.

  • Integrating Flurry in Adobe Air for Android

    Hi,
    I am having a hard time integrating Flurry into an android application built with Adobe Air.
    Setting: Flash Builder 4.6 (sdk 4.6) and Adobe Air 3.1
    I have successfully created the bridge between Air and Java (e.g. I can open a native notification).
    The flurry doc requires to call the method
    FlurryAgent.onStartSession(this, "FLURRY_ID");
    in the onStart() of an activity, where 'this' is an instance of the Activity class.
    Following the tutorial on building ane I have seen that when you extend a FREEFunction and you override
    the call method, the context has a "getActivity()", so I hav tried the following
      @Override
              public FREObject call(FREContext context, FREObject[] args) {
        FlurryAgent.onStartSession(context.getActivity(), "FLURRY_ID");
    But with no success.
    I even tried to build an empty activity and pass it to onStartSession like this:
    Activity a = new Activity();
    FlurryAgent.onStartSession(a, "FLURRY_ID");
    Again, no success.
    I even tried "null", but no success.
    Did anybody face a similar problem here?
    Any suggestion/idea?
    ps:
    I have tried contacting flurry, but I had no replies.
    I have tried to use the id in another,  built in the gold old way, android application and it works.

    Well Im a bit puzzled now. I just created a quick AIR app using AIR13 for Android and did a DEACTIVATE test on the NativeApplication.nativeApplication property and used a TextField to "trace" out the frame rate when the app deactivated. The frame rate stayed at 24FPS the entire time. I turned the screen off, let it turn off, went to the home screen, and switched to other apps while the test app was still running. In all cases, the frame rate never dropped to 4FPS as indicated in Adobe's documentation. So it is either something a bug or feature of AIR13+ or it is how Android KitKat handles applications in the background. Im using an unlocked/stock Moto X running Android 4.4.3. The app also appends the getTimer() call to the end so you can see that it does change. Here is a link to the quick app I created: Dropbox - deactivate.apk
    I guess if you want to download that and test it out to see how it behaves on your device and let me know the results. What device and OS are you running?
    Below is the original message I started to type before I decided to create a quick app to test with. It may or may not still be relevant based on your results from my app test.
    If you are looking at just recording information, you could probably setup something on the Android/Java side that gets started when the app "sleeps" using the DEACTIVE event as a trigger to start the ANE side of things. Then when your app "wakes", you could use the ACTIVATE event to trigger a call to the ANE to pull all the data collected in the Java side back to AIR and stop the ANE data capture since the data capture would be back to being handled by AIR.

  • Partial wakelock in Adobe Air for Android

    I'm developing Adobe Air (for Android) application which is intended to be constantly on. App has event based operations. However, when phone enters to sleep mode app is able to perform only one or few events in a second which is not good enough. AIR's SystemIdleMode.KEEP_AWAKE -mode is not an alternative since it is too battery consuming.
    I'm looking for a solution where phone is allowed to go into sleep mode (screen is off) but still CPU performance is not drastically dropped. Not sure if Android's partial wakelock -mode does the job and is available via ANE?

  • Adobe Air 1.5  / windows Xp crushes completely

    My Air  applicaiton crashes from time to time , can't find an exact event order. It's not Flash Error but complete windows XP error crush with
    send report blah blah!
    What I'm doing is accessing youtube using tubeloc lib , have a dagagrid where I click on the icon and the new video starts to play.
    So From time to time it crashes on my windows XP machine and my friend XP machine so it's not an issue with virus , antivirus or bad drivers.
    Happened also to previous air 1.5 versions not only to latest.
    I'm lost here.

  • Adobe air 2.6 gpu font scaled down

    Hi,
    When i use the gpu to publish my adobe air 2.6 ios project, when i run it on iphone the font in the texfields is scale down twice is size, but online on the first time that i run the application, when i enter on differents area the font size is normal.
    Anyone knows why is doing that?
    Thanks,
    Nuno

    another workaround here from some other thread::
    import flash.text.TextFormat;
    import flash.text.TextField;
    import flash.events.FocusEvent;
    var tf: TextField = myText as TextField;
    tf.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_IN, onFocusIn);
    tf.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT, onFocusOut);
    tf.addEventListener(FocusEvent.MOUSE_FOCUS_CHANGE,  onFocusOut);
    function onFocusIn(e: FocusEvent) {
        var myFormat:TextFormat = myText.getTextFormat();
        myFormat.size = 6;
        myText.defaultTextFormat = myFormat;
        myText.setTextFormat(myFormat);
    function onFocusOut(e: FocusEvent) {
        var myFormat:TextFormat = myText.getTextFormat();
        myFormat.size = 14;
        myText.defaultTextFormat = myFormat;
        myText.setTextFormat(myFormat);}
    I set the textsize smaller than normal, and restore the size when  it lost focus.

  • Adobe Air + New iPad (iPad 3) retina display, any idea? any one?

    Hi, I have tried countless amount of times to turn it on, I mean, how can I run my app on the new ipad at 2048x1536, it is always scaling up the app content times 2 and if I try to scale down the whole stage >> 1 (or / 2) of course all images looks blury and horrible, any idea? any one?
    something very interesting to mention is that apps made in Adobe Air looks looks slightly better on iPad2 than iPad3, because the whole content of the air app is being scaled x 2, especially on vector content like Textfields fonts, etc... this is weird, it doesn't seem to happen on native apps.
    any thoughts about this?
    thanks.

    I did not use the command line, but rather Flash Builder's interface.  But reading Adobe's support materials, I gather that in the Native Extensions dialog, setting the Apple iOS SDK is the equivalent of setting -platformsdk. So I set that value to point to my copy of the iPhoneOS5.1.sdk.  Below is my sample project code.  In the application descriptor file, the only thing I changed from the default is my project id to match the provisioning profile and adding <requestedDisplayResolution>high</requestedDisplayResolution> to the iPhone xml tag.  I tested this out on my iPhone 4 and it worked great.  On the new iPad only the top corner of the image appears on the screen because of the scale.  I am using AIR 3.1, so unless the 3.2 beta includes a fix, it seems that Adobe needs to produce an update before AIR supports the new iPad's display.  Please tell me if you find anything I missed.
    package
              import flash.display.Sprite;
              import flash.display.StageAlign;

                                  stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
                                  stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
                                  bgd = new bgdImg();
                                  addChild(bgd);

  • Problem about inject event to Adobe AIR to control the games running on it

    We have some question about Adobe AIR for android, and would somebody mind to teach us about it,
    and your reply is my pleasure。
    the problem is:
      Doe's Adobe AIR for Android provide a interface for the other  android application, and we can use
      our android application to   inject some event( up / down / left / right keys for example)
      to control the flash game running in Adobe AIR.
    and what i want is:
      Make an appliction on android os , and can control(send key event to) the flash games running
      based on  the Andrid AIR.
    and if Adobe AIR does not provide the interface:
      Is there a good idea to do what i want.
    Thank you very much.

    Some background information about the Adobe Flash Protected Mode for '''''christ1'''.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/security/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html
    Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 that you have is a relatively low end graphics card and low end for on-board graphics chips, whichever you have. ''Unless that is a laptop that switches drivers for "gaming" which puts a lot more load on the hardware and runs the battery out a lot faster.'' Technically the HD 4600 ''should'' be enough for web browsing, but Flash is a lot more than simple web browsing.
    IMO, if disabling the Flash Protected Mode solves that issue - do that. Or upgrade your hardware, especially if you have a separate Graphics Card ''[vs an on-board chip]'' or can install a better card in a desktop computer.
    As far as YouTube videos goes, have you tried using the HTML5 setting for YouTube?
    https://www.youtube.com/html5
    Make that setting and Google will deliver HTML5 video when it is available for each "clip". From what I have seen ''[I'm not a big user of YouTube, though]'', like maybe 75% of the clips I see are available in HTML5 - ''ymmv''.
    BTW, Mozilla is working on eliminating the need for even having to use Flash. They're working a a project which is code-named Shumway to play SWF-format files.
    http://mozilla.github.io/shumway/
    You can download it from that page, but it is at the early stages of development and needs a lot more work before it is truly usable.
