You may have this sorted out by now - but if not try resetting your Language to English. I had the issue and found the emoji keyboard was set to spanish.

How did you obtain the license? Did it come preinstalled with your machine? Did you purchase the software via the Mac App Store? You should be able to download the trial via Apple's website and then just register it with your key.

Maybe the problem is not your MB Air......
Try these:
Make sure bluetooth is turned off if you're not using it.
Set your screen brightness to 4 bars.
See what's loading in your login items. Delete the ones you don't need.
Open Activity Monitor - under All Processes see what's using most of your CPU's resources.
Highlight the ones with the highest %CPU and hit quit process.
Remember that when Apple says that your battery should last 7 hours, they tested it just browsing the web and not have anything open in the background and screen is set at 50% brightness.

I previously downloaded a trial version of Adobe Pro and had used it the last 30 days. Today I just clicked on the link from my purchase confirmation and downloaded some type of installer. Once I clicked on the installer and gave it permission to do whatever it needed to do, it just sort of stalled. I am running Mac OS Yosemite. Yes - well you have to make the file in a word processing Application.
You could use TextEdit (it's free) Pages (words only), or Numbers (data base) (they are part of iWorks - and may or may not be free (included) on your machine. You could use MS Office (it is not free) You could use any Open source word processor that plays well with Office (NeoOffice, StarOffice) they are free.
That's how you create content and copy/paste URLS. Then you save the file to the desktop. If you are going to make more than one file... you make a folder on the desktop and save, or drag the file(s) into it.
You attach it to your e-mail client which will compress it and e-mail it. An excellent reference is to use Help, from the menu bar, also from inside any application. From your library or book store the OS X for Dummies has a lot of useful information (you don't read it cover to cover but look up chapters about what you'd like to do)
You can also make appointments at your local Apple store for individualized help (if a store is nearby)

Change your settings in Sharing preferences, for one, and remove the server out of the Finder's sidebar. Obviously, this is the result of transfering all your other computer's preferences to your new computer.
