The replacement of a replaced phone on the ATT Next Plan - what should I do?

To try and make a long story short -  - Back in May 2014, I leased a Samsung Galaxy S5 on ATT Next.  It came with a 1 yr factory warranty.- The phone stopped charging in January 2015.- I immediately had this original phone replaced with a refurbished phone (my guess) under regular warranty at an ATT service center.  No extra charge to me.  This phone has a 90 day warranty (I did not clarify at that time).- The replacement phone's screen died this past July 2015 weekend (phone still works, it still picks up calls, but the screen will not light up as it would normally light up, it will slowly light up and the screen looks green and grainy).  This phone was NOT dropped, the screen has been maintained in excellent condition.- I immediately went back to the ATT service center.  I wanted to replace this replacement phone but was told that the warranty was only for 90 days (past since January 2015).  Now I do not have a phone to use...or to trade in at the end of the ATT Next plan. Am I screwed (seems like it)?  None of these were accidental damages where I dropped it or damaged it.  I read on the forums that I would need to trade in a replacement phone in working condition in order to avoid paying the rest of the installment plan (in my case, I'm paying for a replacement phone that doesn't work anymore). I plan to go in to a service center nearby to see what my options are, but hopefully someone here may have a reasonable solution!

Original phone had warranty for 1 year until May 2015. Replacement phone had 90 days or until original phone warranty, so you would have warranty until May 2015. After that, you will need to pay for the phone replacement. That is one of the reasons that AT&T offers insurance throught Asurion. Some phones just don't last the time until NEXT replacement is available.
