Time tracking app

I'm looking for advice on a time tracking app that will allow me to quickly enter a start/stop time from the home screen. So when I'm working on a project and another project becomes 'more important', I can quickly switch between start/stop.
Start/stop times won't be billable, but will need to be sorted.

Have a look at myWorkTime it might be what you are looking for, it is a universal app.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link. <Edited by Host>

  • Looking for SIMPLE time tracking app

    Hi all
I'm looking for a really simple 'retrospective' time sheet app - wondering if anyone knows one?
I've seen literally hundreds, but they all want you to 'click to start the clock' and then click to end it. This doesn't work for me, as I spend only about 25% of my time in front of the computer.
What I'm looking for is something that I can put all my client contacts in, then separately link projects to those clients. Then at the end of each day I can quickly recall what I did during the day and assign time to each project.
Most apps want you to assign time to each project as you go through the day, so its relatively painless to switch projects. However when you do it all at the end of the day, you don't want to keep entering the date, you just want to enter the start/end time, and what project it was. More like a journal entry I guess.
Then at the end of the month it would print a report that groups the hours worked on each project so that you can review them and create an invoice (or in my case send to my accounts clerk who makes the invoice for me).
Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi shannonbray, welcome to the AppleWorks forum, which is intended for discussions of Apple's now-legacied productivity suite called AppleWorks.
One could develop such a template using the spreadsheet or database modules of AW separately or in combo, but it doesn't sound as if that's your aim. I'm sure clever types have done such things, and perhaps shared them to the AWUserGroups and such, and I hope they note your post and reply. There are certainly numerous clever folks who follow this forum, and they may have pointers to other apps for you, but essentially I think you've posed the wrong question in the wrong place.

  • [SOLVED] Time tracking app outside Gnome

I used to use hamster-applet in Gnome, which I loved for time tracking. Over the weekend I've converted myself to DWM, so using hamster is out. I've looked around and haven't found any real options other than a webapp called SlimTimer which I used back when I was on another OS which I won't mention by name. However, if available, I'd prefer something that can be used offline as well.
What are the tiling WM users doing for time tracking?

There are a few in the AUR. Just search on the http://aur.archlinux.org/ page for "time track" or the like.
If you do use yaourt, try a search like
yaourt -Ss track | grep time
Personally I used gnotime for several years. It still works but development has apparently ceased.

  • Free Time Tracking App

Not sure where to post this or if it is a valid question, but I'm looking for a free application to track time on different "projects" so at the end of the week I'll be able to see I spent x number of hours on school projects, lab work, actual work, etc. I picture being able to start a timer as I begin my work along with the type of project/work I'm performing then stop it when I'm finished. Sort of like a stop watch in a way. I just got 10.5 so that is why I'll post this question in this forum (haha). Thanks for any input.

You can search for time-tracking software on these sites: http://www.versiontracker.com, http://www.macupdate.com

  • Can't Export ALL Comments from Issues Tracking app in Sharepoint 2013

I really like the flexability of the SharePoint 2013 Issues Tracking application. I am able to enter the initial issue, then update it regularly with "comments". Each comment is added as a seperate entry to the issue, date stamped, etc.
The issue I am having is in exporting this to Excel. I know, I know, the purpose of SharePoint is that you DON'T turn everything into an Excel spreadsheet.  However, I have to send the issues to an external contact that does not have access to the SharePoint
environment.  When I export to Excel, it only adds the LAST comment to the Comments column in the spreadsheet. I need all comments combined, and dropped into the correct cell.
Is there a way to do this? I found another thread where it seemed everyone accepted the fact that this was not possible, but I thought I'd try one more time and see if there were any new ideas.
I believe this is tied to the option of "Append Changes to Existing Text" that is available in the Edit Column settings for the Issues Tracking app. I see that you can turn this off, but then you lose the ability to date-stamp each entry. If there
is no good solution, then I think the only alternative would be to turn this off, then just manually add a date to each time.
Word of caution!!  If you have a bunch of comments already appended, and THEN you decide to change the option from Append Yes to Append No, it will hide all previous comments. I did this and thought I'd lost them, but when I changed the option back
to Append Changes, they were all still there.  I may need to manually cut-paste every single comment out, change to Append No, and then manually past the entire comment thread back in.  Will be very tedious for a large issues log.
    Thank you.
    Bill

Update - The only solution I was able to change to "Append Changes to Existing Text", then do as I dreaded, which was to manually cut and past every comment out then back into the single field.  Definitely a good lessons-learned to set the
value to "Append Changes to Existing Text" before starting.

  • Project time tracking application recommendations?

    Hi all,
I'm a freelance worker and am having trouble finding the right time-tracking and project management software "for me."
I'm using Adobe Klok, whose interface and layout I really like, but as it's based on a web app, it's a little cumbersome to use (I like using more keyboard shortcuts and having a more flexible interface).
The dream feature I'm hoping exists out there is something that lets me activate the program with a keystroke (like Spotlight or Quicksilver) to just type in text in order to update whatever I'm doing. I often switch what I'm doing every 10-15 minutes, and updating Klok on what exactly this is so often is irritating and hard to stay up on.
    Anyone have any recommendations?
    Thanks!
    Alec

You should find several such applications by searching at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Time tracking widget/ application??

Hi...I am looking for a time tracking widget or application. I work in a manner similar to an attorney where I track billable hours by assignment. I am not looking for an app that I have to click a timer. Just one to simply enter a date, short description and hours worked. I am looking for a stand alone app that is NOT tied to some online service. Any ideas??

You might want to look at Mac time tracking application OfficeTime (http://www.officetime.net). It has overwhelmingly positive comments on VersionTracker and MacUpdate.

  • Tracking App Usage

In iTunes, you can see how many times you've played a particular music track. Is there any way to do something similar with apps? I didn't see it under View Options for the Apps Library, like you do for the Music, Movies, Podcasts, Books, and Tones Libraries. Perhaps "there's an app for that"?

Since iTunes does track how many times I've played a song, be it on my iPod, iPhone, or  iPad (after I sync, of course), I was wondering if it had the same capability to log how many times an app had been launched. It shouldn't matter whether or not iTunes itself can launch the app; iTunes logs many song plays that I've NEVER played on iTunes itself.
Since iTunes seemingly can't extract that data from my iPhone and iPad during syncs, I wonder if there is an app that can run in the background and log this data.

i and my brother have different apple id's but are using the single itunes library on our home PC.When i am syncing my iphone most of the times the apps that were purchased with my brothers apple id is also getting on my iphone.
How do i differentiate the apps that were purchased with my apple id and sync accordingly. As i want only the apps that were purchased in my apple id.
I am aware of the fact that i can click on the app and check with "getinfo" to see with whose apple id it is brought.but there are hundreds app which i cannot check one by one.
How do i filter the apps with apple id and sync?

Connect the device to the computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.

  • How to use MS Project in conjunction with a time-tracker tool

In my new job, the company is using a time-tracking tool in a very strict way.
    Allow me to explain...
Let's say the project has two phases: Ph1 and Ph2.
Ph1 starts on day 1 and effort is 5 days.
Ph2 starts after Ph1 and effort is 10 days.
There are 3 resources available, R1, R2 and R3, and after a careful estimate of skills and avilability it has been decided the following:
    - Ph1 is assigned to R1 from day 1 to day 5, resulting in a duration for Ph1 of 5 days.
    - Ph2 is assigned to...
    ...R2 from day 6 to day 10
    ...R3 from day 8 to day 12
resulting in a duration of 7 days.
The above is mapped into the time-tracking tool to allow each resource to track time against Ph1 or Ph2 only in the aplanned timeframe. That is: R3 will be able to track
hous aganst Ph2 only from day 8 and only till day 12. That is to avoid that resources track more time that what was originally allocated: if this is necessary, it must be explained why, a new plan must be calculated and more budget must be allocated. When
the ok is given, the tasks in the time-racking tool will be changed accordingly.
If the above situation is clear, my question is: how would you model this in MS Project?
If the WBS in MSP is simply
    1. Project X
    1.1 Ph1
    1.2. Ph2
when allocating R2 and R3 to Ph2, how can I specify that R2 will work only from day 6 to 10 and R3 from day 8 to 12?
At the moment the only clean solution I found is to go into the task usage view and adjust, for each day, the working hours of each resource assigned to the activity.
A second less clean solution is to have a WBS like follows
    1. Project X
    1.1 Ph1
    1.2. Ph2
    1.2.1 Ph2.R2
    1.2.2 Ph2.R3
that is split Ph2 into two sub-activities, one for each resource.
    Thanks fo any help.

Thanks a lot to both of you for your suggestions.
Unfortunately the time-tracking tool cannot be changed: it is a new SAP based tool deployed worldwide.
The problem is that each project involves different teams from differnt countries for a fixed "budget" (or a fixed number of man-days). Therefore there is a global PM in London that will define in the time tracking tool
    a WBS like this
    1. Project X
    1.1 Analysis
1.1.1 Analyse impact for team in Rome
1.1.2 Analyse impact for team in Amsterdam
1.1.3 Analyse impact fr tam in Bangkok
    1.2 Development
    1.2.1 Develop A
    1.2.2 Develop B
    1.2.3 Develop C
    1.3 Customer Acceptance Test
1.3.1 Prepare test environment by team in Amsterdam
    1.3.1 Test by final user
1.3.2 Support user testing by team in Rome
then he would assign the development tasks to the rsources that are supposed to work on it and for only the estimatd time. The reason is easy: he want to make sure that a resource tracks time only against the task she is supposed t work on and for only the
estimated number of days, to avoid exceeding the budget. If extra effort is required for a resource on a task, before allocating more time on that task, a long battle will start.
    This we cannot change.
The problem now is on our side, the teams in Rome/Amsterdam/Bangkok: we must keep our own plan in MSP. Our tam in rome is divided in 4 sub-teams, one for each module of the core product, each team with a team
leader assiging tasks to resources with Asana. Untill las week, for months, there was not PM in Rome leading the four teams and hand and of course there was no global plan for the tasks in Rome.
My first attempt was to try with a Gantt that would stop at phases level, without going down to task level, that are under responsibility of the 4 team leaders. the reason being that we have something like
25 projects, some with dependecies with each other. I simply wanted to avoid having one huge MSP file with all projects down to task level: by experience, in my previous project (an ERP upgrade for Oracle EBS in FAO) this approach did not work very well.
But this is bringing up he problem I described: if I stop at "1.2 development" in the WBS, than when I assign R1 and R3, to mak sure their effort is planned accordingly to what has been setup in the time-raking
tool, I need to edit work in the task usage resource by resource, activity by activity.
The other option is to insert under 1.2 development another level with all tasks from Asana, each task being assigned to one resource:
    1.2 Development
    1.2.1 Develop A
    1.2.1.1 Develop class x (by R1)
    1.2.1.2 develop class y (by R3)
    1.2.2 Develop C
1.2.2.1 Develop new pricing interface (by R4)
1.2.2.2 Modify all logos (by R7)
A third option would be to have one dtailed plan for each project down to the Asana task and then one higher level plan summarising all projects, down to phases only.

  • Looking for a time-stretching app

Can you guys recommend your favourite time-stretching app? I'd like to find an easier way of lining up transients to beats, for example.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

Logic Pro 8 is also the application to use for time-stretching though!
See page 525 *Time Stretching Regions* in the *Logic Pro 8 User Manual*.
    shamca wrote:
I know the marquee tool, but I don't see how it can be used to time stretch ?
However, from your original post, now I'm thinking you don't really mean simple time stretching, but you mean doing something more like quantizing audio. Actually, I do use the transient capabilities of the marquee tool to find note beginnings and then move them to a bar location, which actually is a form of audio quantization.
However, Logic also has an audio quantize feature.
Check page 517 of the *Logic Pro 8 User Manual*. I have used this with varying amounts of success.
If you own Ableton Live, it has a better method (IMHO) for quantizing audio by doing something they call "warp markers". With Live, you simply place a warp marker on each transient (note start) that you wish to move, and then move it to the desired bar location. Live then time stretches your audio to match. Because it requires you to select these places, it is more seamless and has less artifacts than the algorithmic method in Logic. Still, if I only need to move a few note beginnings, I prefer to just stay in Logic and do it with the marquee tool.

  • I own and work on two Mac computers.. a MacBook Pro and an iMac. Am I required to "purchase" the one-time in-App purchase of $4.99 TWICE, one for each computer..??

I own and work on two Mac computers.. a MacBook Pro (dual core, 3.06GHz, 8 GBs RAM) and an iMac ((dual core, 3.06GHz, 4 GBs RAM). Am I required to "purchase" the Garageband one-time in-App purchase of $4.99 TWICE, one for each computer..??

The answer to your question is not about the GarageBand content but the concept of downloading any apps (or in-apps purchases) from the app store. The Key is your Apple ID.
Whenever you download an app (it doesn't matter if you pay for the app or if it is free) you have to to be logged in to the App Store with a valid Apple ID. That becomes your "Online License". Whenever you are logged in to the App Store with that Apple ID you will see your Purchase History, what apps you downloaded and also what apps have updates available. As you see, this procedure is independent from your actual computer. The App Store is only interested in your Apple ID for verification.
To download an app or content on a different computer, just make sure you are logged in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you did for the initial purchase.
The button will now display (instead of Free or the price tag) "Install" because the App Store knows that you purchased the item before (with that Apple ID) and that you computer you are on at the moment oesn't have th app installed. Just click the "Install" button to download the app.
Here is how the Button looks like depending on the condition.
The same principle applies to in-app purchases. With GarageBand, when you try to restore Purchases, make sure you are logged in in the Apple Store with the Apple ID you made the original purchase.
One more thing: You don't need to be logged in to actually run an app, only for online activities (downloads, updates)
    Hope that helps

  • Corrupted Time Machine app on Mountain Lion 10.8.4

I seem to have a corrupted Time Machine app on my Macbook Pro, running 10.8.4
The problem first started when I used a guide to modify the backup intervals - editing a text file to change the amount of seconds in between the automatic backups (changing it to every 24 hours rather than one hour).
That worked fine for a couple months, but then I started getting an error saying that the backup was too large for the destionation disk. I spent ages trying to resolve this, formatted my external hard drive again, and tried to start a new backup. However I still kept getting the error that the Time Machine backup was too large. I double checked that I had excluded the right files, and that it was actually able to fit on the external HDD.
After giving up trying to fix the problem with TM, I deleted the app, and went into the system files and deleted all (I think) of the files relating to TM. I then opened the Mountain Lion installer package with Pacifist, and extracted all the TM files into their default location.
Now the problem is that TM (in the preferecnes pane) will freeze when I try to change the options, and it won't let me check "Show Time Machine in menu bar". It also still tells me that the backup is too large when it automatically tries to backup.
Is there any way to completely reinstall just TM without having to reinsall all the system files on the OS?
    Any help would be appreciated!

Is there any way to completely reinstall just TM without having to reinsall all the system files on the OS?
No, and you need to make sure that you completely removed the third-party hack you installed, by following the developer's instructions.

  • No Video on Time Warner App

I get no video when I try to use my Time Warner app to watch either TWC or ESPN.  The audio seems to work ok, but no video.  Also, I'ved check things out using a different streaming video and they seem to work ok.   Any help?

Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).
I have created a User Tip to list Apps that have been tested with Video Airplay, if you have any Apps that you have tested please leave details in the comments at the bottom of the User Tip or email me if you don't have commenting privileges.
