To execute multiple procedures in one go through

Hi,
i have five stored procedures and want to put them in one procedure that when i execute that single procedure all other procedures should be executed, rough idea
create or replace procedure pr_1 as
begin
exec pr_2;
exec pr_3;
exec pr_4;
end;exec pr_1
Best Regards,
Lee

Hi,
Are these procs dependant on the result of each other?
Depending on your requirement you can club these procedures into a .sql file and execute this sql
OR
Put all these procedures into a package.
Depends entirely on your requirements.
Detail us what are these procedures and how are these related to each other.

Jacob

  • How to execute multiple queries in one stored procedure.

    Hi,
    I am Kumar,
    How to execute multiple queries in one stored procedure.
    here is the my requirements,
    1. get the max value from one table and sum of the that value.
    2. insert the values and also sum of the max value.
    using stored procedure
    I am using SQL server 2000 database.
    Please help me.
    Advance thanks
    by,
    Kumar

    This is not a java question and it is not even a problem: your only problem is
    1) lack of knowledge
    2) lack of interest to find a manual
    But you are going to have to change both by actually reading a book or a manual that explains the stored procedure language of SQL Server. It is the same as Sybase I think, so you could also look for a manual for that DBMS.

  • Creating multiple procedures in one go

    When I try to create multiple procedures in one go
    All of the procedures are stored in the first procedure
    When I run the following script:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE CREATE_ITEM
    (ITEM_id items.item_id %type,
    ITEM_DESC items.item_description %TYPE,
    ITEM_COST items.item_cost %TYPE,
    ITEM_QUAN items.item_quantity %TYPE)
    AS
    BEGIN
    if (ITEM_QUAN >=0)
    THEN
    insert into items values
    (upper(item_id) || LPAD(seq_item_id.nextval, 4, '0'), upper(ITEM_DESC), ITEM_COST, ITEM_QUAN);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE (ITEM_DESC || ' was recorded');
    else
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('Quantity should be 0 or more!!');
    end if;
    END CREATE_ITEM;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE CREATE_ORDER
    (customer_id customer.customer_id %TYPE)
    AS
    BEGIN
    insert into orders values
    (seq_order_id.nextval, 0, customer_id, sysdate, 1);
    END CREATE_ORDER;
    It creates "CREATE_ITEM" procedure and store all the script in it..
    Is there a solution for this problem?
    regards

    Hi
    Place a forward slash
    between the two procedures on its own line.
    SQL*Plus requires it as well.

  • SQL Developer cannot execute multiple queries in one connection

    Hi,
    Using : SQL Developer 1.2.29.98, Oracle Database 9i on Windows XP.
    Currently I have TOAD and PL/SQL Developer to handle things related to Oracle Database.
    I found this SQL Developer tools as an interesting tool which might replace PL/SQL Developer (I assume).
    I opened two SQL Worksheets and tried to execute 2 queries (time consuming one) simultanously, suddenly it freezes (the window become grayed). Just like TOAD, we cannot smoothly execute multiple queries on single connection on SQL Developer
    I can monitor the query process using TOAD (Session Browser) and found both queries are running while SQL Developer window become grayed and seems not functioning. After the queries have been finished, I mean both of them, the SQL Developer window become normal and "alive" again showing the expected results.
    Well, however PL/SQL Developer could handle this. Executing multiple queries in single application is just its unbeatable features.
    We can view the query result once its finished instead of until the others being processed, by just only switch the SQL Windows.
    Is it true that SQL Developer doesn't support executing multiple queries?
    Or is it a feature which we should request?
    Or we have to activate this feature by doing some changes on configuration / preferences?
    (Do we need to open two SQL Developer instances? what a memory consuming solution).
    Regards,
    Buntoro

    SQLDeveloper connections are single threaded and also rather single minded (in that you can't do much else while a long query is running.)
    There is an existing feature request http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3685254426061901::NO::P39_ID:4202 for which you can vote.
    The workaround is to have multiple connections. Not brilliant but it works.

  • Max_threads 12 and execute multiple calc at a time through maxl

    Hi,
    Will "import database Sample.Basic using max_threads 12 ...." works in 11.1.2.1 ?
    If yes please provide syntax
    I tried below syn and got error msg.
    import database 'ap'.'db' using max_threads 12  data from server text data_file "load" on error write to 'load.log';
    And
    How do I run 5 calculation simultaneously start from maxl ?
    I wrote a script which runs one after another
    execute calculation 'ap'.'db'.'One';
    execute calculation 'ap'.'db'.'two;
    Regards.

    Hi,
    I think you can use wildcard characters '*' for loading data in sequence.
    import database 'ap'.'db' using max_threads 12  data from server text data_file "load*.txt" on error write to 'load.log';
    Make Sure you will be changing data_file to .txt extension before using above script.

  • Executing multiple IOS commands one after the other with a delay

    Hi -
    As part of my monitoring solution, I have scheduled scripts running on my routers to do various tasks, now I am trying to do trace route to about 10 routers from a seed router to track the path of the trace and if it changes i would be alerted.
    What I am having difficulty is doing one trace commands from a text file. Example follows:
    Trace 10.10.10.1
    Trace 10.20.10.1
    Trace 10.30.10.1
    The command will stop right after the first line, is there a way in IOS to do a “wait” statement between each command to get this going?
    Regards
    Daya Rajaratnam

    Correct, you need 12.3(2)T or higher (for router IOS).  Tcl is also available in many other non-router platforms.  Yes, you do need to be enabled. for tclsh.  For EEM, though, you do not need to be enabled.  You can register an EEM policy, then anyone on the box can execute it.  EEM is also built around Tcl, so the same code could be added to such a policy.  For example:
    ::cisco::eem::event_register_nonenamespace import ::cisco::eem::*namespace import ::cisco::lib::*array set cliarr [cli_open]set output {}foreach host [list x.x.x.x y.y.y.y z.z.z.z] {    append output [cli_exec $cliarr(fd) "traceroute $host"]    after 3000}cli_close $cliarr(fd) $cliarr(tty_id)puts $output
    EEM Tcl policies require 12.3(14)T or higher for router IOS.

    Hi,
    I know we can execute any task on target using emcli but just wondering if we can execute multiple command in one emcli execution,
    also does any one has any idea about how to pass the target variables in emcli command.
    Thanks,

    Hi Salman,
    Thanks for your reply but I do not want to use deplyoment procedured as this means for patching and provisioning related tasks,
    I want to automate the health checks using EMCLI and for that I can use submit job verb of emcli,
    I just wanted to if i have multiple command to pass to emcli,how to do that ?

  • EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE issue

    Hi,
    I have read somewhere that EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE is one of the most dangerous privilege. Could you please help me understanding it? I mean how exactly is this privilege dangerous and if it at all it is then what is the purpose of providing this privilege as an in-built privilege?
    Thanks in advance.

    2. I was also told that having this privilege , any user can execute one specific procedure attaining DBA privilege. Is that correct? If so then how?check the second response of this thread.

  • Is it possible to combine multiple Pur Reqs for multiple materials to one vendor into one PO through MD07?

    We have material planners who use MD07 (traffic signal screen) Stock/Requirements List, Collective Access tab to review material requirements by MRP Controller.  Once the list is created, they select individual materials and review them in MD04.  In a lot of cases, Purchase Reqs (PRs) are reviewed and adopted into POs individually for each material.  Sometimes they will combine multiple PRs for one material into one PO.  This is a good practice.  However, from what I have found, it is not possible to combine multiple PRs for multiple materials into one PO.  If this was done it would dramatically reduce the number of POs that we are issuing to suppliers.  Problem statement:  We issue too many POs which causes additional influxes down the line (receiving dock/goods receipts processing, receiving issues, invoices, invoice issues, etc.).  Does anyone know of a way to address this problem without a major overhaul in approach or customization of the system?  Thank you in advance!

    Hello Michael
    As far as I know, this is not possible directly from MD07, only from the MM transactions.
    The following thread suggests the following procedure to convert several PRs into one PO:
    Conversion of multiple PR into single P.O
    Drag and drop the first PR from the item overview to the shopping card on top of ME21N,
    then open the PO detail delivery schedule tab and drag  and drop all other PR to the shopping card shown  in the schedule tab
    You can use the same procedure, calling the order conversion from MD07 and then drag and drop another PRs into this PO.

  • Execute any procedure???

    Inorder to execute the job at the allotted time the user need to be able to create a procedure and execute it.
    but is execute any procedure privilege required to enable scheduling???
    what could be the reason??
    this allow the user to run procedures created by other users, right?

    Hi Visakh
    From my own notes here is what I have:
    Setting up Workbook Scheduling
    ==============================
    The workbook scheduling feature in Discoverer uses native features in the Oracle DBMS, and is therefore only available when running against the Oracle database. This feature uses the same highly scalable and reliable processing procedures within the kernel, since the summary management capability and the setup for both features is similar. These procedures use standard packages in the DBMS called DBMS_JOB.
    To enable the processing procedures for workbook scheduling in Discoverer, follow these steps:
    A. Grant Schedule Workbook Privilege to the user.
    B. Confirm that DBMS_JOBS has been installed.
    C. Specify result set storage.
    D. Set the time period at which the process kicks in.
    These procedures are described in the following sections:
    A.  Grant Schedule Workbook Privilege to the User
    The user must be granted the Schedule Workbooks privilege in the Privileges dialog. Connect to the Administration Edition, and grant the Schedule Workbooks privilege in Tools | Privileges dialog.
    B.   Confirming that DBMS_JOBS is Installed
    1. Log onto SQL*Plus as the Administrator, and execute the following SQL statement:
    SQL> select * from all_objects where object_name='DBMS_JOB' and object_type = 'PACKAGE';
    2. If you get no rows returned you need to install this package. Your DBA will know how to do it.
    C.  Specifying Result Set Storage
    When a scheduled workbook is run, the results are stored in database tables within the database. The resulting data created as part of the workbook scheduling process may be stored in one of two areas: the user's own schema or a centralized schema.
    User's Schema
    In order to enable workbook scheduling in the user's own database schema, the user requires the following database privileges:
    Create Procedure - needed to create the job
    Create Table - needed to create tenporary holding table(s) for the results, each run of the same scheduled worksheet produces a new temporary table - see general notes at end for more help
    Create View - needed to pull the results from the database
    You will also need these three grants:
    SELECT ON SYS.V_$PARAMETER;
    EXECUTE ON SYS.DBMS_JOB; won't be able to execute the job without this
    UNLIMITED TABLESPACE; needed to stop user's schema running out of space while creating the table(s) of results. Discoverer does not leave it to the DBA to set artificial limits. The only way it knows for certain that it will have enough is to have this privilese.
    As you can see, execute any procedure is not needed.
    When the schedule is first created a view is created. This allows Discoverer to run that view at the scheduled time using whatever conditions and parameters you have set. The results are populated into the table when the query is run. If you subsequently have multiple sets of results you will see them named T1, T2 and so on.
    To grant these privileges, do the following:
    1. Log onto SQL*Plus or SQLDBA as the Database Administrator.
    2. Type the following:
    SQL> Grant CREATE PROCEDURE to <USER>;
    SQL> Grant CREATE TABLE to <USER>;
    SQL> Grant CREATE VIEW to <USER>;
    where <USER> is the userid of the person who is to be allowed to schedule workbooks.
    These privileges must be granted directly to the user and not to a database role.
    Advantages: A database limit can be specified on the maximum amount of data a user can store in the database. If the result set is stored under the user's schema, then you keep control over the maximum amount of space one individual user can fill with result sets. If the user creates a scheduled workbook that fills that space, it affects only his/her own scheduled workbook.
    Disadvantage: The user is required to have the above privileges in the database.
    Repository User's Schema
    In order to enable workbook scheduling using a centralized repository user's schema, the SQL script batchusr.sql must be run in SQL*Plus or SQLDBA as a database administrator (such as, SYSTEM). This script creates a new user that is granted the above privileges.
    In addition, the administrator of the EUL must change the user so that the Repository User property is pointing to the repository user's schema just created. The centralized repository user's schema may be customized by the database administrator for space management purposes and underlying data access.
    NOTE: SELECT ANY TABLE access is given by the script batchusr.sql, but this may be limited provided the repository user's schema is granted access to the underlying data that will be accessed for workbook scheduling.
    The repository user created will not be able to directly schedule a workbook through the User Edition.
    Advantages: Each user does not need DML procedures to run scheduled workbooks.
    Disadvantages: One user can potentially run a scheduled workbook that fills the available result set space, preventing other scheduled workbooks from running until it is cleared.
    D.  Setting the Start Time for Workbook Processing
    The workbook processes run within the database on the server, and are controlled by parameters in the initialization file of the Oracle DBMS - the INIT<SID>.ORA file.
    To limit the number of processing requests that can run simultaneously:
    The parameter job_queue_processes specifies the number of concurrent processes to use to process DBMS_JOB. It controls the number of processing requests that can be handled simultaneously. The default value is zero, which means processing requests will not be created. You should set it to a minimum of 2 or more if you have any other applications that use DBMS_JOB.
    You need more than one job queue process, because if one job fails for any reason, it may keep getting re-submitted, and thus, prevent everything else in the queue from being completed. If you want to have 10 simultaneous processing requests handled, then you will need to set this to 10.
    The INIT<SID>.ORA parameter job_queue_interval is the time in seconds that controls how often the job processes wake up to process pending jobs. The default is 60, which is quite frequent. What you set this to depends on how frequently you want the process to wake up and serve the requests that have been made. Oracle recommends that you update the 60 seconds default to at least 10 minutes (a value of 600).
    NOTE: This parameter also affects summary management.
    To enable these parameters:
    1. Locate the INIT<SID>.ORA file.
    For example, on Personal Oracle7 the INIT<SID>.ORA file is held in <ORACLE_HOME>\database. Its default name is INITORCL.ORA where ORCL is the <SID> name.
    2. Enter 2 lines into the file. For example:
    job_queue_processes = 2
    job_queue_interval = 600 (equivalent to 10 minutes)
    GENERAL NOTES:
    The summary management and workbook scheduling features both use this scheduling capability within the Oracle DBMS. The interval you specify and the number of concurrent requests affect both features.
    The results from the worksheet are held in a temporary table until you remove the results or you delete the scheduled workbook.
    Tables look like this: EUL5_B060914015847Q1R1
    Views look like this: EUL5_B060914015847Q1V1
    These temporary tables are stored within the schema of the user who owns the workbook - not within the standard EUL schema. The format of the table is as follows:
    EUL5_B060914015847Q1R1 which can be broken into six separate pieces.
    These pieces are as follows:
    EUL5_ B YYMMDD HHMISS Q9 R9, where
    EUL5_ is a fixed name
    B means Batch and is a constant
    YYMMDD is the date that the worksheet was run,
    HHMISS is the time when the worksheet was run, the time is in the 24 hour clock format,
    Q9 means this is the letter Q followed by a number - E.g. Q1, which signifies the query number. I believe Oracle have some plans to allow multiple queries but for now this is always Q1,
    R9 means this is the letter R followed by a number - E.g. R1, R2 and so on. This is the run number.
    Using the above logic therefore, this is a valid example:
    EUL5_B090914015847Q1R1
    This means this is result set number 1 for query 1, run at 1:58:46 AM on 14th September 2009.
    So if you can figure out which worksheet was scheduled and when it was run you can build a view that sits on top of the latest table to give you the latest results. Something else which adds interest here is that the column names within the table do not match the column names as in your original query. The scheduled results column names use generic names such as BRVC1, BRVC2, BRD1, BRD2, BRN1 and BRN2.
    These are codes and can be interpreted as follows:
    BRCV1 and BRCV2 mean Batch Result Var Char 1 and 2,
    BRD1 and BED2 mean Batch Result Date 1 and 2,
    BRN1 and BEN2 mean Batch Result Number 1 and 2
    Best wishes

  • How to open multiple sessions for one user?

    Sorry for the silly question but I couldn't find it googling or searching through this forum, so I started wondering whether it's possible in SQL Developer to open multiple sessions for one user. I'm fairly new to SQL Developer and databases in general.
    When I open SQL Developer and connect to a schema, a worksheet opens named MYSCHEMA. If I disconnect then connect, another worksheet opens, named MYSCHEMA~1. I assumed these were different sessions, but if I enter into one worksheet:
    select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
    -- shows result is 1
    update my_table set col1 = 0 where row_id = 1
    select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
    -- shows result is 0and then enter into the second worksheet:
    select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
    -- shows result is 0I would have expected the second worksheet to report 1 because the first worksheet did not issue a COMMIT. Thus, I'd guess both worksheets are the same session? Is that right? If so, how do I have two sessions open simultaneously (opened by same user)?
    I'm trying to implement the code at the bottom of this post, for which testing requires at least two sessions:

    Thanks Jim,
    Ctrl-Shift-N doesn't do anything for me. I'm on a mac -- by experimenting it looks like command-N does what you're looking for. This appears to be the same as left-clicking on the "New" icon in the top left corner of SQL Developer, or selecting from the pull-down menu, File > New.
    This opens "Create a New" window that appears to be a wizard. What would I select at this point? Options are: Database Connection, Table, View, Package, ...
    I don't see an option for "Worksheet".
    UPDATE:
    OK, I found that if I select "SQL File", a worksheet becomes available. Perhaps this is what you intended. However, when I issue the command
    select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1;it still returns 0 instead of 1. Hmm, maybe my initial assumption was wrong -- if this is a second (e.g. different) session, should I expect the changes made in the first session in SQL Developer (the UPDATE command) WITHOUT a commit, to be observed in this second session? I thought that changes made in one session were not viewable in a different session until these changes are committed in the first session? If so, how to show this in SQL Developer? I must be missing something basic here.
    Or, is SQL Developer issuing some sort of "auto-commit" without my knowledge?

  • Executing multiple DDL statements with OracleCommand

    hi..
    im having trouble executing multiple ddl statements with the the oracle command object. i have tried to enclose them within Begin.. End; block but with no use.
    this problem seems to occur only with DDL statements,.. as my DML like update, delete and Inserts seem to work fine when enclosed within the PL /SQL block.
    single DDL statements also seem to work fine. so im guessing this has nothing to do with priviledges. any ideas?
    my code as follows
    OracleCommand command = new OracleCommand();
    command.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
    command.CommandText = string.Format(@"{0}",script);
    conn.Open();
    command.Connection = conn;
    command.ExecuteNonQuery();
    the script is read from a file, and looks like this. (note : i have removed any line breaks or any other characters)
    BEGIN ALTER TABLE SYSTEMUSER DISABLE CONSTRAINT FK_USER_CLIENT; ALTER TRIGGER SET_SUBSCRIPTION_SUB_I DISABLE; END;
    this is the error i get.
    Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "ALTER" when expecting one of the following:
    begin case declare exit for goto if loop mod null pragma
    raise return select update while with <an identifier>
    <a double-quoted delimited-identifier> <a bind variable> <<
    close current delete fetch lock insert open rollback
    savepoint set sql execute commit forall merge pipe.

    If I'm not mistaken, we're not allowed to issue DDL inside anonymoue block (or stored procedure) since DDL has implicit commit in it. But you still can execute DDL using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE or using DBMS_SQL package. Try changing your CommandText like this,
    BEGIN
       EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER TABLE SYSTEMUSER DISABLE CONSTRAINT FK_USER_CLIENT';
       EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER TRIGGER SET_SUBSCRIPTION_SUB_I DISABLE';
    END;Hope this helps,

  • Execute concatenated procedure

    Hello,
    How can I execute a procedure from a package in another procedure in that package when I combined the name of this procedure from a table.
    I have a table containing procedure names and parameters that go with it.
    With a cursor in another procedure I want to combine this together and execute that combined procedure.
    Here is some code to clarify
    CURSOR c_sel IS
         SELECT ids,proc_nm,period_1,period_2,period_3,period_4
         FROM fep_adm_prcs

    period1_t VARCHAR2(10);
    period2_t VARCHAR2(10);
    period3_t VARCHAR2(10);
    period4_t VARCHAR2(10);
    BEGIN
    -- Start looping all procedures named in the collection
         FOR r_sel IN c_sel LOOP
         -- Fisrt truncate every table related to the selected procedure before start of load new data
              FOR r_trunc IN c_trunc(r_sel.ids) LOOP
              DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('TRUNCATE TABLE '||r_trunc.tab_name);
              EXECUTE IMMEDIATE ('TRUNCATE TABLE '||r_trunc.tab_name);
              END LOOP;
         -- Second loop through the 4 periods and generate execution script when period is not null
              IF r_sel.period_1 IS NOT NULL THEN
                   DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('execute fep_compute_tables.'||r_sel.proc_nm||'('''||r_sel.period_1||''')');
                   --EXECUTE IMMEDIATE('execute FEP_COMPUTE_TABLES.'||r_sel.proc_nm||'('''||r_sel.period_1||''')');
                   FEP_COMPUTE_TABLES.r_sel.proc_nm(r_sel.period_1);

    This last one is not working, but how can I get it to work?
    Thanks a lot

    this is the error I get
    ORA-00900 invalid SQL statement
    Cause: The statement is not recognized as a valid SQL statement. This error can occur if the Procedural Option is not installed and a SQL statement is issued that requires this option (for example, a CREATE PROCEDURE statement). You can determine if the Procedural Option is installed by starting SQL*Plus. If the PL/SQL banner is not displayed, then the option is not installed.
    Action: Correct the syntax or install the Procedural Option.

  • Can a case structure execute multiple cases?

    So I have a VI set up with a mutiple option case structure to select which input a voltage is read from (there are 32 options). Now that I have it made, I realize that sometimes I may want to read from multiple inputs at once.. Is there an easy way to change my setup so that it executes multiple cases at a time? Right now my control is a slider to choose the case. What would be a good front panel control choice to be able to select multiple options? Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You can build an array of your options and loop through the required cases. As mentioned, a case can only perform 1 case per loop.
    A good front panel control would be a cluster or an array of booleans (e.g. a tick box per option), easy to loop through.
