To get performance through Oracle Grid.
I recently installed Oracle 10 g Grid and evaluating the performance of my Oracle Servers. Is it possible to integrate database monitoring scripts/queries developed by us into the Grid manager. I wanted to reduce the manual effort of executing individual queries/scripts by logging on the servers. If so Can someone help me how do I achieve this .Please help!!!!
Thanks in advance
From Grid just create a job for this and schedule as per your need

i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?
I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents). BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
.... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
- This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.
- Confirmation from Brandye
- Confirmation from an Oracle Certification Support Web Ticket ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP )
... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054. I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version. ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts. -

I cannot find Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 for windows x64
So maybe i'm stupid, but i've searched metalink every way i can think of to find the patches mentioned in the following preinstall instructions for 11.2.0.2 for windows
"To upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 to Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.2, you must first do at least one of the following:
* Patch the Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 home with the patch 9413827 and patch 9706490.
* Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 1 (GI PSU1) or Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 (GI PSU2)."
I've searched in Patches and Updates and https://updates.oracle.com.
I've got a 2 node 11gR2 (11.2.0.1) RAC on Windows 2k8 that i want to patch to 11.2.0.2 before implementing as production. I can find all the Unix flavored patches, but not the Windows Patch.
Feel free to make fun of me for using Windoze or not knowing how to use metalink, whatever you like, as long as you include a url to the Patch I'm looking for.
thanks
JohnThe first thing that i tried was the out-of-place upgrade, which failed 3/4 of the way through. This left me with a circumstance where i couldn't use srvctl to administer my RAC because of version mismatched files. The RAC appeared to be up but administering it was impossible no matter what home i set. I deinstalled 11.2.0.2 grid and the 2nd node of my RAC was broken and couldn't see the ASM instance at all. i actually had to modify the windows registry to get the 2nd node to behave properly.
That's when i read more carefully the installation instructions for the upgrade and came across the text i included.
"To upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 to Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.2, you must first do at least one of the following:
Patch the Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 home with the patch 9413827 and patch 9706490.
Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 1 (GI PSU1) or Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 (GI PSU2).
Adding nodes to a cluster during a rolling upgrade is not supported.#
Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM upgrades are always out-of-place upgrades. With Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g release 2 (11.2), you cannot perform an in-place upgrade of Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM to existing homes."
This mentions both the out-of-place upgrade and the need for the intermediate patches to be installed first. I'm not sure what to believe at this point. I read the above instructions as saying the intermediate patches need to be installed BEFORE the out-of-place upgrade would be successful, but i can't say that i understand why that would be the case.
Has someone done a successful upgrade on Windows from 11.2.0.1 directly to 11.2.0.2?
I appreciate y'all's help.
thanks,

Oracle Grid Control and Oracle Application Management Pack for Siebel
I am trying to get the Oracle Grid Control Software to work with the Siebel Application Management Pack so that I can effectively monitor Siebel. The client I am at does not have a budget for proper monitoring solution therefore, I have chosen the free alternative. Anyway, the Oracle 10G Agent is running on all the windows Siebel Servers and all of the Siebel Servers appear within the Oracle Grid Control management tool. At this time I am more interested in monitoring the Siebel metrics versus the windows metrics.. I have added Siebel as a Target Subtab within Oracle Grid Control. I have also successfully run through the Oracle Agent 10G SiebelClassPathfix.bat command on each Siebel Windows Server. What I am not able to do is add a Siebel Enterprise through the Oracle Grid Control Manager Software. When I attempt to add a Siebel Enterprise I receive the following error message. Any suggestions would be beneficial.
An error occured while adding Siebel Enterprise.
Credentials - Missing Credentials for host halcrmtgw01.dinghy.hal.testPlease log a service request with tech support so that we can track this inquiry. On the service request, capture a screenshot of the page where you defined the host preferred credentials, and tell us the names of your servers.
Btw, I take that you are stuck in the step in which you:
- Click the "Add Enterprise" button to add the enterprise
- Fill in the 7 parameters
- Click Ok to start the discovery process
Which release of Siebel and Enterprise Manager are you using?

How to Upgrade to Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g Release 2
HI
I am experiencing problems to get documentation that is not conflicting. Anyone out there that upgraded from 11.1 to 11.2
Our environment:
4 cluster nodes - 3 ORACLE_HOMES (CRS_HOME, ASM_HOME, DB_HOME).
The new Grid infrastructure creates one home for CRS and ASM.
My problem is that I am trying to do a out-of-place upgrade - using the rolling upgrade method. According to the upgrade manual it is possible.
But I get stuck on the second screen of the Installer, detecting ASM and advises me to shutdown all instances and ASM on node1. Did that, does not work, I am getting the same message INS-40413.
Anyone out there that has got some procedures, or maybe experience about this. I am trying to get advise from Oracle since early November, but did not get any further.
IreneExecute the below command at OS level and verify from which home is the crsctl utility is being called
which crsctl
Ensure that the above command is being called from the correct home
If the path from which crsctl utility is being called is the correct one, then perform starce on the crsctl command and verify the starce output to check if it truly is using 10g binaries or not
If not, then try unlocking and locking the GI binaries using "rootcrs.pl -unlock" (to unlock) and "rootcrs.pl -patch" (to lock the binaries), once done verify if you are still getting the same issue or not

Hi All,
I am new to the forum and hi everyone.....
I need to develop an application to, fetch data from almost all of the Oracle 10g releas 3 Application server Metric Tables. I cannot use builtin tools provided with Oracle 10g release 3 like, dmstool.bat. In the Oracle application server 10 g release 2, I was able to get the metric tables performance data in an xml format through web browser by giving
http://<IPAddress:port/dms0/AggreSpy?format=xml&table=ohs_responses.....
But in Oracle Application server 10 g release 3, the above url does not show me the metrices in the xml format. it still shows the Metric tables welcome page.
I have made configuration in the dms.conf file such that it redirects to servelt http://<IPAdress>::7200/dmsoc4j/AggreSpy?format=xml&....
Is there any additional configuration need to be done for getting the metrices in the xml format or can anyone tell me the way or url trough which i can access the metrices tables in xml format by web browser for oracle 10 g release 3 Application server.
Thank u all, Awaiting for ur replyThanks for ur reply..
I want to confirm one more thing that, through aggrespy Is it possible to get the xml format of the metic tables?
I was able to get them in Oracle application server 10g release 2.The URL i used is http://server:port/dmsoc4j/AggreSpy?format=xml
In oracle 10 g release 3 ,I am getting the existing page, the page is not getting converted to xml format.By using dmstool, i am able to get xml format by giving
"dmstool -dump format=xml".
Can u please confirm me this thing? If possible what additional configuration is required.
Thank u in advance.... -

RAC - Oracle Grid Infrastructure configure failed
Hi, am trying to install 2 node RAC on Oracle VMs. Before the installation during the -preinst check there were few issues which were resolved (ex user equivalence). After that during the installation process of the Grid it failed at step "Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a cluster". After it failed at this step, subsequent steps too failed which I asked OUI to ignore and then I ran both the post installation scripts. And then ran post crsinst which failed. Pasting below the output of the root.sh script, post crsinst and other checks.
[root@bsfrac01 grid]# sh root.sh

Please help.before installation have u configure the private interconnect on both the nodes to same network adapter..
for example on node 1 if the private interconnect is on eth0 then on the node 2 it should use eth0 only...
for private interconnect use the hostonly option on both the nodes in the network configuration page of the vmware or virtual box..
and for public network it can be bridged
more over if you are installing on the laptop its good to configure the SSH using the OUI.. rather than doing it manually.. as it saves time
the private and the public networks should not have same range of ip address. like if public address are like 192.168.2.222/255.255.255.0 and private address have to be different like 10.10.1.2/255.0.0.0 (this is just an example)
have to configured the NTP.
any ways try installing the oracle rac on virtual box follow the steps given the below website they are pretty straight forward...

How to get attributes through List Of Values
Hi,
I have two view objects, 'Customer' and 'CustomerDetails'.
The 'Customer' view, has 'CustomerId' attribute that I defined as LOV with the 'CustomerDetails' view.
like this:
<ListBinding
Name="LOV_CustomerId"
ListVOName="CustomerDetailsView1"
ListRangeSize="-1"
NullValueFlag="start"
NullValueId="${adfBundle['oracle.javatools.resourcebundle.SystemBundle']['NULL_VALUE_RESID']}"
MRUCount="0">
<AttrArray Name="AttrNames">
<Item Value="CustomerId"/>
</AttrArray>
<AttrArray Name="ListAttrNames">
<Item Value="Id"/>
</AttrArray>
<AttrArray Name="ListDisplayAttrNames">
<Item Value="Name"/>
</AttrArray>
<DisplayCriteria/>
</ListBinding>I dragged it as soc on my page
<af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.CustomerId.inputValue}" label="#{bindings.CustomerId.label}"
required="#{bindings.CustomerId.hints.mandatory}"
shortDesc="#{bindings.CustomerId.hints.tooltip}" id="soc16" autoSubmit="true">
<f:selectItems value="#{bindings.CustomerId.items}" id="si16"/>
</af:selectOneChoice>In the 'CustomerDetails' view there is also 'adress' attribute.
I would like to get the adress according to the id.
How could I get it through bindings?
or in another way.
Thanks!!Hi
to get the value:
String tmp;
BindingContainer bindingsLOV = getBindings();
JUCtrlListBinding listBinding = null;
listBinding = (JUCtrlListBinding)bindingsLOV.get("CustomerId");
ViewRowImpl selectedListRow = null;
selectedListRow = (ViewRowImpl)listBinding.getSelectedValue();
tmp = selectedListRow.getAttribute("CustomerId").toString();

Error while creating physical standby database using Oracle Grid 10.2.0.5
Hi All,
I am setting up data guard using oracle grid.
Primary database version: - 10.2.0.4
Standby database version: - 10.2.0.4
Primary OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 8)2.6.9
Standby OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 8)2.6.9
I am creating physical standby database using EM. But it is getting failed with error message in sqlnet.ora file
Fatal NI connect error 12533, connecting to:

Tns error struct:

TNS-12533: TNS:illegal ADDRESS parameters
ns secondary err code: 0
nt main err code: 0
nt secondary err code: 0As we can see, address_list is empty.
Can anyone suggest what could be the reason behind this?Dear user13295317,
Here is the error explanation;
Oracle Error :: TNS-12533
TNS:illegal ADDRESS parameters
Cause
An illegal set of protocol adapter parameters was specified.
In some cases, this error is returned when a connection cannot be made to the protocol transport.
Action
Verify that the destination can be reached using the specified protocol.
Check the parameters within the ADDRESS section of TNSNAMES.ORA.
Legal ADDRESS parameter formats may be found in the Oracle operating system specific documentation for your platform.
Protocols that resolve names at the transport layer (such as DECnet object names) are vulnerable to this error if not properly configured or names are misspelled.Hope That Helps.

Confirming method to secure web services through oracle web service manager
Hi All,
I am just wondering about the method to secure web service through oracle web service manager.
I have a unsecure web service "helloworld" which is deployed on JWSDP1.6 toolkit.I want to secure it through oracle web service manager.
Inorder to secure this unsecure web service,I use gateway(web service manager for securing web service using message level security through certificate).
So when client want to access the helloworld service,it contacts the gateway securely and gateway intern connect to original web service after decrypting and verification of the signature.When gateway gets response from the web service,it signs the response message and then encrypt and passs on to the client.
So my question is,is it the right way to secure web service?
As I am getting the following fault exception :
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SOAP-ENV:Body>
<SOAP-ENV:Fault>
<faultcode "http://schemas.oblix.com/ws/2003/08/Faults">c</faultcode>
<faultstring>Step execution failed with an exception
</faultstring>
<detail></detail>
</SOAP-ENV:Fault>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
I checked the log at :
C:\coresv_install_home\external\oc4j-10.1.2.0.0\j2ee\home\log\http-web-access
but there is no helpful information available.Thanks for any help.
KashHi Rajesh,
Thanks for your reply.I am using the following policy steps:

Hi, im installing a two node cluster mounted on Oracle Linux 6.3 with Oracle DB 11.2.0.3, the installation went smooth up until the execution of the root.sh script on the second node.
THe script return this final lines:
CRS-4402: The CSS daemon was started in exclusive mode but found an active CSS daemon on node nodo1, number 1, and is terminating
An active cluster was found during exclusive startup, restarting to join the cluster
Start of resource "ora.crsd" failed

In $GRID_HOME/log/node2/alertnode.log It appears to be a Cluster Time Synchronization Service issue, (i didn't synchronyze the nodes..) however the CTSS is running in observer mode, wich i believe it shouldn't affect the installation process. After that i lost it...there's an entry CRS-5018 indicating that an unused HAIP route was removed... and then, out of the blue: CRS-5818:Aborted command 'start' for resource 'ora.asm'. Some clarification will be deeply apreciated.

ASM installation failure from Oracle GRID under Windows 7 64 bit
I am a rookie..I am running Oracle database 11gR2 running on a Windows 7 64 bit system.
I am implementing ASM onto my system solely for learning purposes
The implementation of ASM has changed between database releases 11gR1 and 11gR2 such that it is no longer configured locally but is now implemented from within Oracle GRID. Unfortunately, the book I am using to study my OCP from was written at the time of 11gR1 so I can no longer follow its instructions to create and configure ASM. Instead of using DBCA I now need to use ASMCA to configure ASM.
As a preliminary requirement I successfully installed Oracle Grid and configured it to run on my standalone server.
I created two partitions on my harddrive ...... drive G: and drive H: with intent of using them as my ASM disks. 45 Gig and 50 gig in size respectively formatted with the NTFS filesystem.
I ran ASMCA in an attempt to create an ASM instance
I specified these partition drives '\\.\G:' and '\\.\H:' in the disk discovery path which were successfully picked up.
However when ASMCA executed the creation process after some time it failed with the following message:
One or more diskgroup(s) creation failed as below:
DiskGroup mydisks creation failed with the following message:
ORA-15018: diskgroup cannot be created
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17090], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
Check C:\app\peter\cfgtoollogs\asmca\asmca-12101712AM0558.log for details.
Which I did and found many things

Ok. As above the ASM instance appeared to have been successfully created so as part of my investigative process to confirm what the script actually did successfully execute I attempted to log into the ASM instance to see how far it would get. It fails with the following result
C:\Windows\system32>set ORACLE_SID=+ASM
C:\Windows\system32>sqlplus sys as sysasm

I checked Windows Task Manager
There is an OracleOHService and it is running
LISTENER is running ie the local listener running on port 1521 that was originally created with a previous basic stand alone installation of the Oracle 11gR2 database . (ie before I installed Oracle GRID). No other listeners are running.
Can t see any evidence of any ASM service on Windows Task manager started/stopped or otherwise. Neither can I see evidence of a CSS service.
The log file that was generated is large I am not clear on what I should be looking for in order to find clues as to how I might manually resolve this problem and possibly 'salvage' the installation. Any advice would be appreciated.Hi,
read the documentation:
http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/to_pdf?pathname=install.112/e24169.pdf
and you will find multiple errors, you probably did.
Especially the part on preparing storage.
