To kill session in one schema from another schema

Hi Team,
I got a problem like a table from one of my schema has been locked. I am getting 'ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified' error when trying to delete rows from that table or even when trying to truncate that table.
Let the table be 'T1' present in schema 'VIEW'
I tried to kill the session which is active for that schema by below query
select sid,serial#,status from v$session where username='VIEW' and STATUS = 'ACTIVE';
alter system kill session '681,2586';
But i couldn't do the above as i don't have DBA privilege for that. But i have DBA privilege for another schema let it be 'ADMIN'
Now how can i kill the session in schema 'VIEW' from schema 'ADMIN'
can any one get me solution.

Before you do anything why don't you actually find out WHY that table has been locked.
You generally should NOT be killing sessions without knowing what is causing the problem to begin with.
Then you also need to determine if you should use KILL SESSION or instead use DISCONNECT SESSION and well as whether the use of IMMEDIATE is appropriate.
Each of those choices acts differently. Many people use KILL when they should really use DISCONNECT.

First of all, synonyms only help you easy reference the object. It doesn't have any implication of object privilege.
As long as you have proper privilege on target object. You can access it with or without synonyms.
Assuming you have proper privilege of objects, you can use following command to assume schema owner.
ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = Schema_owner

How to defer constraint of one schema from another schema

Hi All,
I am having a requirement of migrating data from one schema(SCHEMA_A) to another schema(SCHEMA_B). So I tried to implement the same using PL/SQL.
Because of foreign key contraint while migrating child table, Oracle throws an error message like parent key not available.
So I tried to set the all contraints to deferred and after completion of migration i planned to set all the contraints to immediate.
But Here I am executing the procedure from schema(SCHEMA_C) which has rights to access SCHEMA_A and SCHEMA_B.
How could I able to defer all the constraint in SCHEMA_B from SCHEMA_C?

Approach schema from another schema's datasource

I have a datasource DS1 to a schema1 in Database1.
There also is a schema2 in another database Database2.
Is there a way to read/update/write data in schema2 through DS1.
I need this because of global transactions.
Database is oracle 10g.

I have no idea what you mean with datasource DS1, but you can access objects in another database through database links. This way you will use the dirstibuted transaction features build-in oracle.

Hi,
I tried to use the insert/select statement that you had given, it did not work.
The error is ORA-00913: too many values.
But finally what I did was, I went into the system schema where the table was and generated the DDL through the utilities and afterwards I imported them into the schema that I am currently working on. It solved the problem!
However I am still curious to know why the insert/select statement did not work? Do you know any site/tutorial which gives a real time example?

Grant access to the table from the source schema to destination schema.
GRANT SELECT ON <TABLE_NAME> TO <DESTINATION SCHEMA>A simple way would be to use CREATE Table with select syntax (in destination schema)
CREATE TABLE <TABLE_NAME> AS SELECT * FROM <SOURCE SCHEMA>.<TABLE_NAME><li>However, you would be in trouble when the table has index,constraints and triggers.
So you can better of grab the DDL statement of the table(and any additional components) andd then create the table in the destination schema.You can use SQL developer, Toad or Apex's Object browser for this.
After the table is created, Insert the records using SELECT.
INSERT INTO <TABLE_NAME> SELECT * FROM <SOURCE SCHEMA>.<TABLE_NAME>This question is discussed in great detail in this AskTom thread

If your source and target are on the same database server then you dont need LKM.
You have to 1. create one data server for the database server
2. Create one physical schema for your source and another physical schema for your target under the above created data server.
3. Then create models for each above created physical schema
In this case you just need IKM knowledge module

If your source and target are on different server then you must create two different data servers in topology. You have to use LKM.
The best LKM to use is LKM oracle to Oracle dblink. But you should have proper grants to use it

i want my schema (User_1) to always select,insert, update, delete the objects from another schema (User_2) without passing full schema qualifier every time whenever i don't pass any schema name explicitly.
i.e. if i pass the following guerry
select * from table_a;
the table of user User_2.table_a (User_2.table_a) will be queried by default instead of table (User_1.table_a)
and the same implementation is also required in Functions , procedures, sequences etc.

Three relatively easy options
1) Create private synonyms in User_1's schema for each object in User_2's schema, i.e.
CREATE SYNONYM table_a
FOR user_2.table_a2) Create public synonyms for each object in User_2's schema. This will make it possible for all users to query user_2's objects without specifying the schema name
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM table_a
FOR user_2.table_a3) Change the current schema for the session (potentially in a login trigger)
ALTER SESSION SET current_schema = USER_2There are other options that are a bit more complicated like using enterprise users with shared schemas. But most people are perfectly happy with one of these three.

Both are Stateless session beans ...
I can't use No-args Intialcontext() as i need to specify the Ip address of other system to be looked up.....
So i am using properties Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitlalHost....
But its not looking up..Its telling not bound...But i called it from standalone client remotely...
Am i wrong..?

First run the export utility (name EXP80.EXE) in the ORANT\BIN directory and make the .DMP file.

Update column in one table from another

I've got two tables:
t1:
con_num
con_code
ex
elin
addressee
a few other columns
t2:
con_num
con_code
elin
addressee
contact
a few other columns
I just got about 300 rows into t2 using sqlloader, and now I need to use t2 to update t1. t1 will have 3 rows per ex||elin, but t2 can have more or less rows per elin (which is the same as ex||elin in t1). If t2 has 4 rows per one elin, then that is 4 distinct pieces of data, and I need to make sure that t1 reflects 4 rows in its ex||elin, each containing the addressee||contact from t2. So I'll need to add a row to t1, as well as update 3 rows. Is this possible with just SQL, or do I need to write PL/SQL?
The following is the code I've been trying:
update t1
set t1.addressee =
(select addressee from t2
where t2.con_num = 'number'
and t1.con_code = t2.con_code
and t1.ex ||t1.elin_num = t2.elin_num)
This code is not correct, it returns more than one row from t2. Also, I'd need to concatenate contact onto addressee with a space in the middle, not just addressee, into t1.addressee.
Any ideas, pointers?

Forgot some info: Ora8.1.5 on win2kpro. Also, I was wanting to combine addressee||contact in the insert/update statement to differentiate one addressee from another in t1 after the data is inserted. We can have several addressees that are the same, but each one goes to a different contact for each record.

How to refer one view from another view? Or how to create a reference to a view wherever needed?

I don't need any data from my first view. In a certain flow, I need to make my first view to be invisible.
for eg., My First view is in portrait mode. I change the device to Landscape. In the landscape mode, I want to show a completely different view (second view).
In this case, what happens is, I see my first view in Landscape mode for a second. Then the second view appears. When I change to Landscape mode, only the second view should be seen. I need to make my first view to be completely invisible in the OnOrientationChanging event of

As stage object and StageOrientationEvent works at application level, I need to know how to refer my first view object in the application level.
