Tomcat loading servlet ..twice..

Hello,
I have a web application in which I am facing one wiered pbm. I see tomcat loading servlet twice , on which my application logic is failing and quits.
Getting below error in log file.
My findings : One thing I did was , inside comp folder I made a copy of website folder and renamed it to website_old. Now both folders contains servlet.jar. Will it be causing a pbm???
==========================================================
Jan 29, 2009 10:48:34 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile

t loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class

Ani

One more findings :
I have
Server.xml has an entry of below
<Context docBase="C:\Program Files\Avaya/comp/website" path="/website" reloadable="false" crossContext="true" />
So tomcat should look for website folder in the specified directory, but in the C:\Program Files\Avaya/comp directory, there are two directories , website and website_old.
Why tomcat is searching for C:\Program Files\Avaya/comp/website_old application if it gets the C:\Program Files\Avaya/comp/website . ??
I have tomcat6.
Any reason??

    Hi Yohan_co,
    I haven't used Application Server 8.2, but I think the problem is because the jdk that AS is using is previous to the jdk that your are using to compile your source files.
    I hope that it helps you.

  • Tomcat Java Servlets, how to log System.out.println() messages

    I have recently installed a new (x86) Mac OS Xserve, and am porting some Java application Servlets from an existing older Mac OSX server. All the servlets were working (I am connecting via port 9006). I have carefully used the old JDK 1.4 compiler, edited my server.xml (for port 9006) and web.xml files, etc. The Tomcat example servlets work fine, and all my (other) servlets work fine, with one exception, where I get the typically vague "java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500" message.
    Trouble is, I cannot get the Java System.out.prinln statements to go to the Tomcat/logs/ log files (they are all there and updating with Tomcat HttpServlet messages), in order to properly debug.
    Is there a server.xml value somewhere I can make the change?
    On another minor (possibly related) point, does anyone know what the path info ='null' means in the Tomcat access log? e.g.,
    StandardContext[/my_servlets]: Mapped to servlet 'myServlet' with servlet path '/myServlet' and path info 'null'
    It is the only other suspicious message I get in all the logs.
    One other point: my java application that fails uses threads. All the individual classes that use the threads work when run interactively, but as soon as I call them from final Serlet class that extends HttpServlet, I get a null pointer exception. Is there something unique about the Tomcat 4.1 threading that could be causing it?
    I want to avoid upgrading to Tomcat 5 at this point, if I can avoid it. My applications are modest in scope, and the last time I upgraded to Tomcat 5, it took me days to get it working properly, and I lost all access to it from the Server Admin application.

    I have found a solution: Via the Tomcat Admin web page I set the Context field "Swallow Output" to "true".

  • Edge Animate loading jquery twice. External jquery plugin error.

    I recently created an interactive map (http://www.lakesofbellaterra.com/Interactive_Map_Demo/Testing/test1.html) using Edge Animate CC  2014.1.1 Release. I used the zoom.min.js plugin from jQuery Zoom to achieve the zooming image effect present when you click on one of the map section and reveal the "section modal". Further more the zoom.js plugin uses jquery 1.7.1. I am deploying this Edge Animate project in a Business Catalyst site using a content holder. Even though the zoom.js plugin works with Internet Explorer 7+ and Firefox I initially was not able to get the zoom.js plugin to work in either browser. After changing the <meta> in the <head> to <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=10,chrome=1"> via suggestion from StackOverflow (internet explorer - What's the difference if <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge"> exists or not? - Stac…)  I was able to get the zoom image function to work in Internet Explorer 9+. So now I just need to get this function working in the current version of Firefox 35.0.1.  As of now when I click on the zoom image nothing happens. The console in firebug reports the following JS related errors:
    Using //@ to indicate sourceMappingURL pragmas is deprecated. Use //# instead jquery.min.js:1
    The character encoding of a framed document was not declared. The document may appear different if viewed without the document framing it. LOBT-IxD-SectionMap_edge.js

    The character encoding of a framed document was not declared. The document may appear different if viewed without the document framing it. jquery.zoom-min.js
    Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated.  Use defaultPrevented instead.
    After some research I found a lead (WordPress › Support » how to prevent jquery loading twice?) That suggested that Edge Animate may be loading jquery twice, and that may be the source of the errors. I need to find out why this animation is not working in Firefox.
    Here is a list of things I have already tried that did not work:
    -Changing the utf charset to : <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8">
    -Changing the version of jquery used from 1.7.1 to the latest release of 1.11.2
    -Changing the image source referenced in the zoom.js call from a .svg to a .png
    -Removing any scripts that may conflict with Edge Animate or zoom.min.js that are being called from within the Business Catalyst page template.
    -Running the project outside of Business Cataylst to see if the error persists (it does)
    Here a link to the Edge Animate project: Dropbox - LOBT Interactive Section Map
    As always any help is determining why Edge Animate projects with a zoom.js plugin do not work in Firefox 35.0.1 would be most appreciated.

    Hi
    Sounds like you wrote your code against JDK 1.4.2 but WebSphere is probably running on 1.3.x (can't remember exactly what WAS 4 run on)
    So although your code compiled, WAS doesn't know what CharSequence is because it only became part of the java.lang package in 1.4.x
    I suggest you change your JDK down to the version used in WAS because you'll probably find other problems that you weren't expecting due to the difference in JDK versions.

    Did you register your servlets after reinstalling. FileServlet is only for handling html pages. It has no role in loading servlets.

    regards

    Hi,
    As per your actions above I believe you have already found SAP Note 435363.
    Basically for a struts application there are no special requirements other than
    1. Make a reference to the inqmyxmltoolkit from the application that is going to use struts before the deployment
    2. Put the struts library into WEB-INF/lib of the application (struts can't be shared among applications)
    3. Deploy the application
    For making the reference you can:
    1. Telnet to the Engine (if you run it as a service and do not have access to its shell directly)
    If telnet port on the Engine dispatcher is 2323
    telnet localhost 2323
    2. Jump to the server node
    for example if the application node's cluster id is 4001
    jump 4001
    3. Execute the commands
    add deploy
    changeref -m  MyApplication library:inqmyxml
    So if it does not work, then I see two reasons possible:
    1. You are using a really old version of the 6.20 Engine - check if you are on PL41.
    2. You have misspelled the name of your application in the reference. The names are case sensitive so you need to be careful. MyApplication is not the same as myApplication or myapplication.

    Iavor

    Actually, best thing to do is switch to use internal commons-logging, or if you have to use another implementation such as log4j, you'll need to configure your server .. see http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27004610
    to switch to internal commons-logging is easy
    change all
    import org.apache.log4j.Logger;to
    import org.apache.commons.logging.Log;
    import org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory;and then go
    private static Log logger = LogFactory.getLog(Whatever.class);to get the logger

  • Failed to load servlet: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

    I've been working on a project with other developers and we've all have our own sections of a large web application that we are working on. When we are each done working on our part we send our JSPs, Beans, and servlets to the lead developer that then deploys one EAR file on our Test/QA server. I now asked the tech lead if he could send me the EAR file so I can load the application in its entirety on my local machine. When I start up the server, I get the error "Failed to load servlet: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException" for each one of my servlets. Even if the servlet path is correct I still get that error. I also tried removing the servlet in the web.xml file and then adding it again, but I still get that error. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Is this error appearing because I have two projects (my part of the application with only my code and the complete project from the EAR file) that point to the same servlets? I'm not sure how to resolve this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    That's what I thought too. But I'm installing an EAR file exported directly from another persons computer and the application is working fine on his machine. So the EAR file will automatically place the servlets in their proper path and directory structure when I import it. In any case I checked the paths myself and they are correct (the servlet file does exist in the same path). I also removed the servlet from the web.xml file and added it again through the websphere UI so if there was any miss-type in the directory path it would have been corrected by websphere. I also tried making a minor change to the servlet file and resaving it thinking that it might correct something or do something that would allow my websphere environment to see/recognize the existance of the servlet, but that did not work. I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here is a part of my log file if it helps: Thanks!

    I get the following errors during LCDS startup:

    [1]java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: flexdev/FundciteAssembler (Unsupported major.minor version 50.0)
    [Flex] Error instantiating application scoped instance of type 'flexdev.FundciteAssembler' for destination 'fundcite'.
    java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: flexdev/FundciteAssembler (Unsupported major.minor version 50.0)
    I have a MySQL server running and I am trying to connect to it through java. Any idea what this error means?

    "Unsupported major.minor version" means you are using a JVM version that is not supported.
    List of supported JVMs can be found here:
