Will there ever be an ipod update that allows someone to add videos to their 4th generation ipod an others other then the new ones that are coming out? i really hope so!

I would try on another computer.

ITunes "Updates" every song synced to the iPod every time it is connected

Since the update of iTunes to 9.1.1, every time I connect my 3G iPod Touch (32GB) to my Macbook iTunes "Updates" every song synced to the iPod. I have seen this before when iTunes has a new revision, but it usually only happens the first time the iPod is attached after iTunes is updated. Now, it is happening every time.
I have restored the iPod to its virgin state, but that did not change anything. Any ideas?

If it is a lightning to 30 pin adaptor, and you have a 7th Generation Nano it has to fit the Nano.

You need to contact Sony and see if they model you have is compatible with the docking adapter. It may not be.

Update deleted library/ syncing ilibrary to ipod

i just installed the latest itunes update, and now my entire library has been deleted/lost. itunes is convinced my ipod nano is synced with another library (false), and i am unable to sync itunes with ipod (the other way around is allowed, but i don't want to lose all my music.)
how do i fix this problem, without having to upload everything all over again? my library is backed up (and consolidated), and i've tried opening those files, but to no avail.
has this happened to anyone else? this is the second time this has happened to me, and i'm incredibly frustrated. please help.

You could also try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

Ipod will not accept purchased videos, but i have ipod 1.1.2 and itunes 7.0

I formatted my Ipod on windows several months ago. A week later, I bought a mac and have been using my ipod on mac ever since. Yesterday, I bought a video from the itunes store, and in order to play it, I tunes told me that i needed to update my I tunes from 6.0 to 7.0. So I did that...NOW, when I tried to copy the video to my ipod, I still could not copy to ipod.., I got a dialogue box telling me that my ipod software was too old and I needed to update it. my ipod software from 1.1 to 1.1.2. Luckily i had access to a windows computer. In the windows computer under ipod preferences, the ipod software read UP to Date after installing the 1.1.2 software. So now i bring back my ipod to my good old mac, and under Summary, ipod, my ipod version reads 1.1.2. and under Version, the update box is greyed out, and on the left side it reads ONLY MACINTOSH FORMATTED IPODS CAN BE UPDATED..
So i try to copy my purchased video from itunes music store, and I STILL GET A MESSAGE SAYING that "the item in the itunes music library was not copied to the ipod becaus you ipod softwar is too old!!!! go to the summary tab in ipod preferences and clikck update to get the latest ipod software update.
WHY>!??? I have the most updated version, and besides , i dont get an option to update software on my mac,,,,,but why would i need to in either case, if i have the latest software. Please help. I have spent my entire saturday troubleshooting this with no luck. I appreciate it. please.

When I updated to 1.1.2 my ipod software said it was up to date. I guess I did not see an option to update from ITunes 7.0., and no where on the apple site did i see a 1.2 version. (I guess thats what you meant when you say that they have done away with the ipod updater)
Does it make a difference that I update using a Windows computer using itunes 7.0 and then play my video on my mac. (I would guess that as long as the ipod software is 1.2 i'd be ok right?) This is where I am confused because right after updating to 1.1.2, i took my ipod and connected it to my mac and under ipod preferences, it did read 1.1.2
I am trying to avoid reformatting my ipod to mac since I have over 6,000 music tunes and videos which took me months to load.

Syncing with other ipods/computers

Folks,
My wife just got her own ipod- which she will be syncing with her laptop. If I first sync her new ipod with my itunes library, will the songs be deleted from it when she then tries to sync on her machine (since it has a different itunes library than mine).

Portege A100 PPA10A - Will BIOS update allow to boot from a USB device

Hi,
I have an Old Portege A100, Model: PPA10A-0002LP, but I can't seem to find that model on any Toshiba website, closest I've seen is the " PPA10A-0002L".
I'm wanting to see if there's a BIOS update that will allow me to Boot from a USB Device.
The issue I am having is that I need to reinstall Windows, but the CD ROm cant read discs.
It does Network Booting PXE, but i'm new to this sort of thing and have absolutly no idea what to do there.

Portege A100 seems to be developed only for Australian market.
As you said there is a Portege A100 PPA10A-0002L model number listed on the Toshiba Australian page but the Portege A100 PPA10A-0002LP belongs to the same series which is PPA10A.
So in my opinion the BIOS should work too.
Anyway, I doubt that the BIOS update will add any further booting options.
Usually the BIOS support the booting from CD/DVD drive, HDD, LAN and USB FDD.
It should be possible to boot from a bootable diskette using an USB FDD drive.
I doubt you would be able to boot from USB ODD since this Portege A100 supports an internal CD/DVD drive.

Syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with an iCloud account has nothing to do with syncing with iTunes.
On your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud.
If Contacts is turned on for over the air syncing, turn it off. A warning message and prompt will be provided asking about what to do with the previously synced contacts with iCloud. Select Delete from iPhone. After all contacts are deleted from your iPhone, turn Contacts back on for over the air syncing. After all contacts are downloaded, confirm the contacts on your iPhone match your online contacts with iCloud.
If so, repeat this with your iPad.

After newest iTunes update i cant sync music to ipod! erroe OxE800400C

I was having issues with my 3rd Generation iTouch, so I restored it. After having issues restoring it, i updated all the newest software (iTunes 10). Once I tried syncing it I realized something odd...my music wont sync! All of my apps synced perfectly but my music and podcasts arent. The bar at the top of the screen says "Copying 1 of 1: 'song name'" and the bar just wont move. My iPod says "sync in progress" and will sit there for a half hour or so before a box comes on and says the device timed out and error code OxE800400C. Also, everytime i try to sync it the whole iTunes program becomes non responsive and im forced to end the task and start over, only to have the same thing happen again. I have tried everything I can think of and i have found no solution to this problem. Can someone please help me im so frustrated and cofused!!

Interesting, I get this exact same error! And it's the music on mine as well -- however, it will copy SOME songs over. It still syncs with my older iPod, and my new iPod will work on my other computer, which it was never connected to before. I'm hoping you hear an answer soon!

IPod will not update properly - error -69 and others

I have been working to get my daughter's Ipod working properly and it seems to be just getting worse. Problems seem to come from downloaded (from ITunes) music that won't upload properly. I've done all kinds of things to see if I can get it to work, but every time we go through the update process, I get error messages such as the "unknown error -69". I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the original software for both Itunes and Ipod and also obtained upgrades for both programs. I've completely restored the Ipod thinking that would help but to no avail. I'm about ready to toss the thing in the gargage. What are my options?

Please help me, I would really really appreciate a suggestion from all you iPod experts out there!

I can't open tabs on my MacBook Pro. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox several times, but it will still not allow me to open other tabs after it has gone to my homepage.

I cannot open any tabs on Firefox. It opens to my homepage, but there is no line for a URL address. Therefore, there is no way to type in a new URL address. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice and it has not helped. I am a former PC user and just switched to Mac.

8.0.0.35 has trashed my shuffle--afraid to sync my other ipods...

I just installed itunes 8 last night and thought all was well until I synched one of my shuffles (2nd gen). while music will play from the shuffle within itunes, all i get now when using it alone is orange/green/orange/green indicator, and no music. So i tried a restore and then placed 50 songs from a genius list onto the shuffle. after the sync is complete I get an error message that the shuffle has files "in use by another application" and so it won't let me unmount the shuffle. while the orange light is blinking, I tried using Vista's disconnect hardware feature. that gets the shuffle to show a green light, but i'm left with the same problem--i can't properly disconnect shuffle from itunes, and the shuffle wont play music.
HELP!!
oh, does anyone know if syncing from a genius list is THE problem with my issue, or is there a major issue with 8.0.0.35 synching certain ipods?

UPDATE: I just noticed that there is an option to "autofill", using a Genius playlist, in lieu of autofilling from "Music", and I can report that it WORKS.
Therefore, it seems that dragging a Genius saved playlist somehow doesn't allow the synch operation to complete properly, as indicated by no "ok to disconnect" message at the top of itunes, AND an error message about "files in use" when I try to disconnect the Shuffle using the icon next to it's icon in the left pane (of course I wait until all songs have synched before attempting to manual disconnect).
I consider this problem resolved, as a Genius list CAN be synched, if done in a particular fashion...

Apple already announced, as an earlier poster stated, that they have made the FaceTime spec/protocol available to anyone who wants to use it. Apple doesn't have to do anything.

Videos won't sync onto my Ipod Nano 3rd gen

I just bought my Nano 3rd gen yesterday and I really like it. The issue is I converted a few videos using videora to play on my ipod. After converting the videos they show up in Itunes. The videos are in MP4 format and they even show up in the 'movies' section in Itunes. The problem is when I click Sync up, none of the videos sync onto my Ipod. I haven't used Itunes in awhile, am I doing something incorrectly?

This is the first time for me to use an iPod to sync videos, so I looked it up. What you have to do is select the video you want to sync after importing to iTunes. Then from the Advance menu choose convert to iPod. Then you will be able to sync the videos.
