    Hi Chris,
    thanks for your response. I was take next fragment of source code for Server session, Client session and Remote session.

  • Need help with Java SE TopLink JPA project

    I'd like to ultimately run an Oracle stored procedure (connecting to Oracle 10g DB) in my Java SE program. I want to use TopLink JPA (11g) and if possible, use sessions to manage things - i.e. I want to run a stored procedure (that doesn't return anything), then run a native query. Does anyone have a good example of this type of configuration?
    I've been able to get it working with plain ol' JPA via TopLink - i.e. my persistence.xml is fine. Obviously, JPA doesn't define stored procedures, so I need to set it up to use stored procedures. I tried setting up my sessions.xml file - I think it's OK. However, I think my project.xml file is incorrect - and I don't think I even really understand it. But I want a project.xml that is very simple - does anyone have a simple, bare-bones project.xml example. All I plan to do is run the occasional stored procedure and run native queries (for now).

    If all you want to do is create extra stored procedure queries then you might want to consider just creating a customizer and adding some queries there. Then you won't actually need to create a project at all.
    Use the toplink.session.customizer property described at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/JPA/essentials/toplink-jpa-extensions.html
    and then add some queries to your session. To make it even easier, then just define your queries in JPA, and override the call in your customizer. For example, if you defined a JPA named query called "Employee.executeStoredProc" then in your customizer method you could have something like:
    public void customize(Session session) {
    DatabaseQuery query = session.getQuery(“Employee.executeStoredProc”);
    StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
    call.setProcedureName("employee_stored_proc");
    query.setCall(call);
    Then when you call your JPA query the stored proc will run.

  • Which JDEV Version

    Hi,
    Sorry if this has been asked 837,343,566 times already, but I am confused with all the
    JDeveloper versions available.
    I'll say I'm just about seasoning up from Core Java to EE, and therefore have decided to
    use JDeveloper after some recommendations from friends.
    I'm not confused regarding the editions, since I'll go for studio anyways.....but I'm confused
    between 10g and 11g. What are the differences? and can I assume Tech Preview to be a
    stable release?
    Finally, is 11g crash prone or is it safe to use, or should I just use 10g for now?
    Thanks.

    Hi!
    The 11g is relatively stabile by my experience - you can use it for development with 10g platform nicely. Be warned that some things in TopLink / ADF 11g are not finished yet (havn't tested BC's as I'm not using them), so problems with running your app may occur.
    The 11g is a big step forward comparing to 10g so I will not go for 10g if it is not required by your client. On the other hand, I don't know the timeframe for 11g production (as you know Oracle is TOP SECRET on this - so we are to pray for clue how to plan our technology strategy for next year).
    Regards,
    PaKo
    P.S. There are still some issues with UTF-8 support. There are promisses from JDev team that they will fix them, but again - no timeframe.

  • Anything fixed in Oracle TopLink 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) ?

    Was there anything fixed in Oracle TopLink 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) ?
    I don't see anything in release notes ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/11110/relnotes/toplink-relnotes.html ) regarding fixes. Anybody know where I can get that info? We have run into a couple of issues in the previous 11g release (11.1.1.0.1) and want to know if those issues have been addressed in the new release.
    Thanks!

    The two major areas of work in 11gR1 (11.1.1.1.0) are enhancements to EclipseLink included with the its 1.1.1 release as well as enhancements around TopLink Grid (JPA-Coherence integration).
    The EclipseLink 1.1.1 fixes are documented here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Release/1.1.1

  • Migration path from 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle TopLink 11g: Technical Preview 2 ?

    What is needed to migrate from 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle TopLink 11g Preview 2?
    Does using Java 5 and swapping the Jar files are enough?
    Can I use as is all the configurations generated by TopLink Workbench 10.1.3.3.0?
    What is working in 10.1.3.3.0 that is not yet or will not be working in Oracle TopLink 11g?

    If you open the project in the 11g preview it will automatically update the metadata and generate the deployment XML in the new format. Alternatively you should be able to open the 10.1.3.3 metadata in the 11g preview's runtime.
    The biggest issue you may encounter in the upgrade besides replacing the libraries and ensuring you are using JDK5 is the removal of the code deprecated in previous releases.

  • TopLink 11g Cache Coordination failure in WebSphere 6.1

    I've recently upgraded to TopLink 11g and I am trying to make cache coordination feature work in WebSphere 6.1 using JMS. Once configured I am getting the following errors on the server side:

    Any idea what I am doing wrong here?
    Lukas

    Fixing listener is not enough. Old and lastest code has this for references to ServerPlatform.launchContainerRunnable, which WebSpherePlatform do not override:
    CommandPropagator:
    public void asynchronousPropagateCommand() {
    // The async logic is in the run() method
    rcm.logDebug("async_propagation", (Object[])null);
    this.rcm.getServerPlatform().launchContainerRunnable(this);
    public void propagateCommand(RemoteConnection conn) {
    Object[] arguments = { command.getClass().getName(), conn.getServiceId() };
    rcm.logDebug("propagate_command_to", arguments);
    try {
    // The result will be null on success, and an exception string on failure
    Object result = conn.executeCommand(command);
    if (result != null) {
    // An error occurred executing the remote command
    handleExceptionFromRemoteExecution(conn, (String)result);
    } catch (CommunicationException comEx) {
    // We got a comms exception.
    this.handleCommunicationException(conn, comEx);
    JMSTopicRemoteConnection:
    DiscoveryManager:
    public void startDiscovery() {
    if (rcm.isCommandProcessorASession()) {
    rcm.getCommandProcessor().processCommand(new ProfileDiscoveryStartedCommand());
    // Only start if we are currently stopped
    if (this.isDiscoveryStopped()) {
    this.rcm.getServerPlatform().launchContainerRunnable(this);
    JMSTopicTransportManager:
    public Hashtable getConnectionsToExternalServicesForCommandPropagation() {
    if(this.getConnectionsToExternalServices().isEmpty() && !this.rcm.isStopped()) {
    this.createExternalConnection();
    if(this.localConnection == null) {
    // It's a good time to create localConnection,
    // in a new thread - to return externalConnections promptly.
    this.rcm.getServerPlatform().launchContainerRunnable(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
    try {
    createLocalConnection();
    } catch (RemoteCommandManagerException ex) {
    // Ignore exception - user had a chance to handle it in createLocalConnection method:
    // for instance to change host url and create a new local connection.
    return super.getConnectionsToExternalServicesForCommandPropagation();
    }

  • Toplink 10g to 11g migration advice.

    We have application that was completely developed JDeveloper 10.1.3/4 with Toplink, JSF, ADF, and Session Facade; extremely similar to the SRDemo.
    I want to upgrade to JDeveloper 11g, and will probably just let JDeveloper to automatically migrate the 10g application to 11g.
    Does anyone have any tips or lessons learned concerning Toplink and/or ADF when using the 11g migration process?
    Thank you.

    I downloaded and installed the jdevstudio11111install.exe from the Jdeveloper download page.
    While performing the migration, I received a Toplink exception (matches this thread: [TopLink exception when migrating from JDev 10.1.3.4 to 11g|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3593192&#3593192] ).
    I assumed this was the bug you were referencing, was that incorrect? Did I inadvertently download the wrong version?
    Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.1.0
    Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407
    Am I missing a patch? Can I move forward with the migration, or is this a show stopper?
    Thank you.

  • JDeveloper 11g Toplink Session Configuration Editor Error

    Hi everone,
    In JDeveloper11g Relase1, Session Configuration Editor doesn't run correctly, always crashes,
    and session.xml configuration file has validation errors, for example:
    element primary-project not expected.
    element login not expected.
    element connection-pools not expected.
    When I run a project, session.xml file doesn't parse correctly so no database connection establisted.
    I am sending my session.xml file and error log.
    Best Regards.

    Hi Gokmen,
    Enhancement for clearing the design time errors by providing support for xsi:type is planned for the Shepherd release.
    The workaround for the Connection Pool errors is to define using the API.Below sample code can be useful for you.
    Create a class which implements SessionEventListener or extend SessionEventAdapter and override the preLogin(SessionEvent event) and define read and write connections in the method.Register the SessionEventListener with session(open the session.xml in JDeveloper flat editor->Options->EventListener->browse and Select the class).
    When application is run and preLogin() event will be called and connection pool is defined with read and write connections.
    package model;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.SessionEvent;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.SessionEventAdapter;
    public class SampleEventListener extends SessionEventAdapter {
    public SampleEventListener() {
    super();
    public void preLogin(SessionEvent event) {
    System.out.println("in the pre login method");
    org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession serverSession=(org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession)event.getSession();
    serverSession.addConnectionPool("testReadPool", event.getSession().getDatasourceLogin(), 1, 10);
    public void postLogin(SessionEvent event) {
    org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession serverSession=(org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession)event.getSession();
    System.out.println(serverSession.getConnectionPool("testReadPool").getMaxNumberOfConnections());
    System.out.println(serverSession.getConnectionPool("testReadPool").getMinNumberOfConnections());
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    Currently the session.xml shows design time error(as support for xsi:type is not there), but this will not block deployment or functionality of application.
    The workaround for the Connection Pool errors is to
    provide name element for the connection pool in session.xml after configuring read and write connection pools at session level as below
    <connection-pools>
    <read-connection-pool>
    <name>read-connection-pool</name>
    <login xsi:type="database-login">
    </read-connection-pool>
    </connection-pools>

  • JDev 11g on WebLogic+TopLink+Web Services (getSharedSession() Disconnects)

    I am facing an issue while using {color:#0000ff}TopLink{color} through a {color:#0000ff}web service{color} request.
    I apologize for a lengthy posting but thought I should give as much information as possible.
    <strong><u>Migration from TP4 to JDev 11g Production
    </u></strong>I am in a process of {color:#0000ff}migration{color} of an application from {color:#0000ff}JDeveloper 11g TP4 to JDeveloper 11g Production{color}.
    I am facing an issue using {color:#0000ff}TopLink{color} with {color:#0000ff}Web Services{color} on {color:#0000ff}Oracle WebLogic 10g Release 3.
    {color}
    <strong><u>Existing Application</u></strong>
    This application uses {color:#0000ff}TopLink{color} and also has{color:#0000ff} JAX-WS{color} based web services.
    The web services client calls the service endpoint that internally uses {color:#0000ff}TopLink{color} to make database calls.
    We currently use {color:#0000ff}Tomcat{color} for deployment and the application works fine.
    <strong><u>Issue while moving to Oracle WebLogic 10g R3
    </u></strong>While porting this application to WebLogic we faced an issue wherein a call to the {color:#0000ff}web service{color} results in {color:#0000ff}disconnection{color} of existing {color:#0000ff}TopLink{color} {color:#000080}server session{color} and creation of new ones.
    Some surfing on the net indicated that this could be due to the different class loaders that are used to access the TopLink server session.
    You must login to the ServerSession before acquiring ClientSessions

    James,
    My issue is resolved. Thanks for your tip.
    I am using {color:#0000ff}SessionManager.getSession(...{color}
    Solution:*
    I changed the class loader while getting a session.
    I had to extend the {color:#0000ff}SessionFactory{color} and override {color:#0000ff}both{color} the {color:#0000ff}getSharedSession(){color} methods while replacing {color:#ff0000}getClass().getClassLoader(){color} with {color:#0000ff}&lt;MyLocatorSingletonBean&gt;.getInstance().getClass().getClassLoader().{color}
    Regrding Server Sessions*
    While posting the question I had started thinking in the same direction of having sever sessions as singleton/Spring bean but sine this will change a lot of things in my current framework so decided I just use the above solution for now.
    Really appreciated!

  • Toplink 11g + OC4J 10.1.3 + Spring

    Hi all,
    As Spring 3.0 will not support native Toplink 11g API (but Spring 2.5.x supports Toplink 10g due to API change, e.g. no toplink/publicinterface/unitOfWork), I would like to ask if I need to migrate my project from Toplink 10g to 11g, what configuration/code change should I need to apply?
    I've installed Toplink 11g in <OC4J_HOME>/toplink folder and checked that OC4J has pointed the 11g JAR file correctly, which can be checked during OC4J startup (p.s. I am using standalone OC4J 10.1.3.1). Actually, I just replace the Toplink 10g JAR files (i.e. toplink-oc4j.jar, toplink.jar and its dependent JAR antlr.jar) with Toplink 11g ones (i.e. toplink-oc4j.jar, toplink.jar and its dependent JAR com.bea.core.antlr.runtime_2.7.7.jar) @ same location.
    When the OC4J is starting, the following error message is shown:
    Application.setConfig Application: javasso is in failed state as initialization failed.
    java.lang.VerifyError: (class: oracle/ias/container/persistence/NonTransactionalInternalPM, method: getDatabaseTimeStamp signature: ()Ljava/sql/Timestamp;) Incompatible argument to function
    2009-02-09 15:16:37.982 WARNING J2EE OJR-00013 Exception initializing deployed application: javasso. Application: javasso is in failed state as initialization failed
    Also, when I am performing query in the application, the following error message is shown:
    Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.toplink.sessions.Session.acquireUnitOfWork()Loracle/toplink/publicinterface/UnitOfWork;
         at org.springframework.orm.toplink.AbstractSessionFactory$ManagedClientInvocationHandler.<init>(AbstractSessionFactory.java:127)
         at org.springframework.orm.toplink.AbstractSessionFactory.createManagedClientSession(AbstractSessionFactory.java:63)
         at org.springframework.orm.toplink.TopLinkTransactionManager.doBegin(TopLinkTransactionManager.java:263)
         at org.springframework.transaction.support.AbstractPlatformTransactionManager.getTransaction
    It is obviously caused by the compatibly problem between Spring 2.5.x and Toplink 11g.
    If I need to use the Oracle TopLink JPA extensions combined with the EclipseLink JPA support, what are the steps? I've searched for a week, and still cannot find the solution yet....
    You response is much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
