Toplink Transport

If our Toplink clients integrate with OSB in a non-web service manner (RMI, ???) what form would the "Foo" object be exposed as? Ex: Toplink connected direct to database maps a Java entity to a database table. If it is mapped to a web service "Foo" is mapped to XML. If Toplink is connected to OSB via RMI, "Foo" would be exposed as ????

I'm not sure I understand the question; particularly what you are refering to with a TopLink clients and what OSB is in this context. RMI would return objecs, so I don't see how why it would be using TopLink, unless you are returning XML data and using TopLink to convert it to objects.

• Could not create/access the TopLink Session.While invoking OSB proxy.

Hi,
While testing an OSB proxy ,which uses a multi datasource to connect to a remote database, from the sbconsole.I am getting exceptions and it is not able to create/access the TopLink Session.
I have checked the multi datasource jndi name ,which is correct.
The stack trace which I am getting while invoking the service is posted below:

Have you created XA data source? If yes then make sure that in connection factory you are assigning the JNDI name of data-source in XAdataSource property (NOT in datasource property). Also make sure that your datasource is up and running and you are updating the dbadapter after creating connection factory.

• Error in Toplink 10.1.3 cache coordination using Websphere JMS

I' am trying to setup Cache Coordination for Toplink 10.1.3 in Websphere 7 using Websphere's implementation of JMS. However I' am getting a NamingException
when I try to lookup the Topic and TopicFactory from the JNDI tree. Admin Security is enabled in the server but not application security. I' am able to lookup
the queues using InitialContext. Upgrading to Toplink 11 is not an option right now for us. Please help in finding out if anything is missing in my Toplink configuration.

We are taking another run at TopLink 10.1.3 and have run into this problem again.
It turns out that this is fairly reproducable. It occurs when we remove the last item (or all of the items) from the parent collection.
It occurs with transparent indirection on or off.
I've added several tests to our Junit suite to detect this behavior with various objects. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they pass. Going back to TopLink 9, a couple of the tests that fail in 10 fail, but most of them pass.
Given the number of folks who shared our probem in TopLink9, I wonder how many have a similar problem in 10. I also wonder why the behavior differs somewhat between 9 and 10. Though our expanded test suite is now detecting the behavior in 9, it is less frequent.

• Could not create/access the TopLink Session. This session is used to connect to the datastore.

We are getting the below error in our production server & also other servers(UAT, Staging). Only option is to restart the OSB server.
Test connection is working fine and able to connect the database without any issue. We have enabled connection leak profiling and also, provided the inactive time outs , still does not work. Need your suggestion for the below error.

Its hard to say what is going on. Though the message says the error is in obtaining a TopLink session, the exception stack has nothing to do with TopLink, and the error seems to be coming from oracle.tip.adapter.db.toplinkext.NameEnquoter.init() directly calling weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Connection.getMetaData() on what must be a stale or closed connection. This looks like a DB adapter application, so you might want to post this question there as they might be able to help configure your datasource appropriately for the application.

• Help with: oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.ValidationException

hi guys,
I really need ur help with this.
I have a remote session bean that retrieves a list of books from the database using entity class and I call the session bean from a web service. The problem is that when i display the books in a jsp directly from the session bean everything works ok but the problem comes when I call the session bean via the web service than it throws this:
Exception Description: An attempt was made to traverse a relationship using indirection that had a null Session. This often occurs when an entity with an uninstantiated LAZY relationship is serialized and that lazy relationship is traversed after serialization. To avoid this issue, instantiate the LAZY relationship prior to serialization.

Please help guys, it's very urgent

Yes i have a relationship but i didnt want it to be directly. Maybe this is a design problem but in my case I dont expect any criminals to be involved in lawsuit. My tables are like that:
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Criminal(
criminal_id INTEGER NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
gender varchar(1),
name varchar(25) NOT NULL,
last_address varchar(100),
birth_date date,
hair_color varchar(10),
eye_color varchar(10),
weight INTEGER,
height INTEGER,
PRIMARY KEY (criminal_id)
ENGINE=INNODB;
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Lawsuit(
lawsuit_id INTEGER NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
courtName varchar(25),
PRIMARY KEY (lawsuit_id),
FOREIGN KEY (courtName) REFERENCES Court_of_Law(courtName) ON DELETE NO ACTION
ENGINE=INNODB;
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Rstands_trial(
criminal_id INTEGER,
lawsuit_id INTEGER,

FOREIGN KEY (lawsuit_id) REFERENCES Lawsuit(lawsuit_id) ON DELETE CASCADE
ENGINE=INNODB;So I couldnt get it.

Though im in middle of testing, just curious to know about these errors.. Have anybody faced this kind of issues? I saw few forums abt B2B-50025: error. Please let me know how to debug these issues

I see two exceptions here -
Message Transmission Transport Exception
Transport Error Code is OTA-HTTP-SEND-1005
StackTrace oracle.tip.b2b.transport.TransportException: [IPT_HttpSendConnectionRefused] HTTP connection is refused.
at oracle.tip.b2b.transport.TransportException.create(TransportException.java:94)This exception has occured while transmitting the document to Trading Partner perhaps on HTTP endpoint. From the error it seems, HTTP endpoint was not available when Oracle B2B tried to send the message to it.
The message sent from oracle b2b reach remote TPBy default Oracle B2B retries 3 times to deliver a message. Perhaps it failed to send the document in first or second attempt but could send it in later attempt(s) and that's why your TP have received the message.
But the the state of the message is MSG_ERROR. We get exception message as response from remote TP.That's why your request message has been marked as error. Check the exception response detail and try to find why your TP's B2B sending exception response. If you are not able to identify the exact issue why exception response came back, ask your TP. You may also paste the exception response content here if you need any help from us.
Exception Description: Query sent to a unactivated UnitOfWork.
Query: ReadAllQuery(oracle.tip.b2b.model.instance.BusinessMessage)This exception is coming after first exception and it is coming because Oracle B2B is trying to enqueue the exception message to IP_IN_QUEUE but transaction has already timed out. For this you need to increase the JTA timeout value. By default it gets set to 30. Try after increasing it to 150
For increasing JTA timeout value, login to Weblogic Admin Console as admin user, click on the domain name in Domain Structure at left side of page, in configuration tab goto JTA subtab and set the value of "Timeout Seconds" from 30 to 150. Save the change and retest your configuration. You should not see this exception any more.

• Clone of TopLink named query

One of our projects here has a requirement where they'd like to modify, at runtime, the named query defined in the Mapping Workbench.
One example is to set the refresh depth level (cascadePrivateParts, cascadeAll, for example) for the named query so that the defined query could be used in different scenarios with slightly different query options to get different query results.
To support this, we will need to clone the query. See the sample code below:
ObjectLevelReadQuery toplinkQuery = null;
ObjectLevelReadQuery queryClone = null;
Descriptor descriptor = session.getDescriptor(targetClass);
DescriptorQueryManager queryManager = descriptor.getQueryManager();
toplinkQuery = (ObjectLevelReadQuery)queryManager.getQuery(queryName);
queryClone = (ObjectLevelReadQuery)toplinkQuery.clone();
We try to use the clone method in DatabaseQuery. It seems to be working fine from the unit testing.
Could someone provide me some information regarding the overhead (performance penalty) the clone method introduces?
Thanks.
Haiwei

James,
Thanks very much for your quick response.
"The difference between using the clone vs not using the clone, is that clone (and changing the query) will trigger the query to no longer be prepared. This means that the query will need to re-generate the SQL for every execution."
Is this always true or it depends on what query options got changed?
I tried the cloneQuery with cloneQuery.cascadePrivateParts(). It seems that (from the trace) it still uses the prepared SQL. Here is the trace:
in testQuery .....
[3/8/05 15:27:47:027 EST] d510d51 SystemOut O 2005.03.08 03:27:47.027--ServerSession(1090797828)--Thread[Servlet.Engine.Transports : 1,5,main]--Connection(290525521)--SELECT * FROM QUOTE WHERE ID IN (?,?)
bind => [1, 2]

A separate question, the cascade option is not configurable in the Mapping Workbench, is this something that TopLink deliberately does not provide?
Thanks again for your assistance.

• Toplink Cache Sync problem

Hello All,
I have configured RCM like this in my code, we are using JBoss 4.0.5
public void configureRemoteCommandManager(String hostname,
int portNumber,
String connectionFactoryName,
String schemaName,
Server session) {
//define the Command Manager
RemoteCommandManager commandMgr = new RemoteCommandManager((CommandProcessor)session);
//set local host URL. In JMS, the local host URL is optional and is used by logging
//to trace the message sender for debugging purposes
String localHostName = "";
try {
localHostName = InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName().toLowerCase();
} catch (UnknownHostException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
commandMgr.setUrl("jnp://" + localHostName + ":" + portNumber);
//define the JMS transport
JMSTopicTransportManager transportMgr = new JMSTopicTransportManager(commandMgr);
transportMgr.setTopicHostUrl("jnp://" + hostname + ":" + portNumber);
//transportMgr.setTopicConnectionFactoryName("jms/TopLinkTopicConnectionFactory");
transportMgr.setTopicConnectionFactoryName(connectionFactoryName);
transportMgr.setTopicName( "topic/testTopic");
transportMgr.setUserName("user");
transportMgr.setPassword("pass");
//Initial context factory name is default to
transportMgr.setInitialContextFactoryName("org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
//hook up the components
commandMgr.setTransportManager(transportMgr);
session.setCommandManager(commandMgr);
//turn on distributed cache synchronization with RCM
session.setShouldPropagateChanges(true);
//Start joining the cluster
if(session.isConnected ()) {
session.getCommandManager().initialize();
logger.info("RemoteCommandManager initialized");
} else {
session.login();
logger.info("RemoteCommandManager login successful");
This code doesn't throw any exception, but when I am running Toplink in Cluster, objects are not getting refreshed.
I am seeing following in my log.
2007.11.13 15:41:10.768--ServerSession(32434103)--Thread[Thread-86,5,jboss]--received_updates_from_remote_server
2007.11.13 15:41:10.784--ServerSession(32434103)--Thread[Thread-87,5,jboss]--received_updates_from_remote_server
2007.11.13 15:41:11.128--ServerSession(32434103)--Thread[Thread-88,5,jboss]--received_updates_from_remote_server
2007.11.13 15:41:11.143--ServerSession(32434103)--Thread[Thread-89,5,jboss]--received_updates_from_remote_server
2007.11.13 15:41:11.346--ServerSession(32434103)--Thread[Thread-90,5,jboss]--received_updates_from_remote_server
2007.11.13 15:41:11.362--ServerSession(32434103)--Thread[Thread-91,5,jboss]--received_updates_from_remote_server
Looks like updates are coming from remote box, then why objects are not getting refreshed even though they are in memory.
Any input is really valuable.
Thanks
Vik

From the log it seems that the events are getting processed. What type of cache coordination are you using in your descriptors (cacheSynchronizationType)? If you have configured them to use invalidation, the objects will not be refreshed until the next time they are accessed (read). If you are using change sets then they should get updated in the cache.
You can check the contents of the change set that is broadcast using the Session event preDistributedMergeUnitOfWorkChangeSet.

• Toplink - providing updateable data grids

Hi
I have been working with toplink / Java WebServices and Adobe Flex.
Is there a way to send the entire editable grid data to a java webservice?
I can perform the updates on a line by line basis (by looping through changes), but would like to process the edits in one step.
Many Thanks in advance.

If you were going to set up replication based on materialized views, you'd have to create a materialized view on all 500 tables on the source system, which would incur a decent overhead (roughly on par with a trigger on each table that wrote to a log table). You'd then have to create 500 materialized views on the reporting system and set them all up to refresh hourly. Assuming you need a transactionally consistent set of data, that would mean a single refresh group with 500 materialized views. That's certainly possible, but it may take a while to refresh.
The amount of data you'd have to send over the wire, and the cost of extracting that data, would depend on the transaction volume on the source system.
I'm assuming that you need to have the reporting database open continuously for reports, which limits your ability to do things like maintain a (user managed) standby database or use transportable tablespaces. If you could tolerate more staleness in the data (i.e. have the reporting system updated daily) and/or accomodate a period of downtime for each refresh, those might be options. As it stands, though, materialized views are probably the most appropriate given your constraints.
As for maintainability, my major concern would be DDL changes to the primary, which would necessitate re-creating the materialized views on the destination system and pulling over the affected table(s) in their entirity. Depending on the frequency of schema changes on the source, that could become a maintenance issue.

• Error while transporting a Workbook

Hi Pioneers
I got an Error while transporting a Workbook from Development to quality.The error is "logical transport object 432L not found in table RSTLOGOPROP".
Could u let me out with a possible solution....Plz...

Hi,
You have to create a new request and transport it again before transporting ensure that you collect all the dependent objects manually in the "Transport Connection" in the collection options.
Hope this helps
Assign points if useful

• Unable to capture the Data Source into a Transport Request

Hi All,
We have a product hierarchy and we are using the data source :4R_PRODH_D_LGEN_HIER for the hierarchy.
Now we need to transport this structure to the quality environment but we were not able to capture the datasource:4R_PRODH_D_LGEN_HIER into a transport request.
When ever we activate the data source:4R_PRODH_D_LGEN_HIER it is asking for the Package and the Transport Request Number.If we give these details and save it, data source is not getting captured in the request, only the "bject Directory Entry" is getting captured.
Can someone please guide me on how to capture the datasource under "Data Sources in BW" in a transport request.
Regards,
Sachin Dehey.

Hi Sachin,
Hierarachy datasource is not captured as Attributes and Text Datasource. So what ever you have done is correct.
What ever is captured in Object Directory Entry is correct. So go ahead with your transports, once transport is done check the Hierarchy Infopackage with Available OLTP hierarchies and load the data.
Most important thing first see that the all Master & Transactional Datasources are transported in R/3 Dev to QA to PRD
In BW, datasources are not transported, only their replica is transported.
Transportation of Datasource is done in R/3. Only their replica is transported in BW.
So wht ever you have done till now is correct. So go ahead.
While attaching Hierarchy Datasource it is captured only in "Object Directory Entry"
Regards,
Vishnu.

• Error while assigning objects to Transport Request

Hi All,
while assigning a Transfromation to a Treq i am getting an error saying
Object '7KU37C7IG3T7AQ5NHSLEZVC91' (ROUT) of type 'Routine' is not available in version 'A'
Message no. RSO252
Diagnosis
You wanted to generate an object with the name '7KU37C7IG3T7AQ5NHSLEZVC91' (in transport request ROUT) of type 'Routine' (TLOGO). This is, however, not available in the BW Repository database. It does not exist in the requested version A. If the version is 'D' then it is possible that an error arose during the delivery or installation. If the version is 'A' then the Object was either not created or not activated.
System Response
The object was not taken into account in the next stage of processing.
Kindly advice how to rectify this error

Hi,
You see the which infoobejct contains that routine and first collect that infoobejct and transport it then transport Transfromation. I hope you are missing some Routines while collecting the Transformations into request.
See OSS Notes:
Note 613581 - Transfer structure does not exist in version 'D'
Note 508921 - P11:Content transfer:RSO 252 or RSO 296:InfoObject

• Error while transporting a data type

Hello all SAP PI Experts,
I'm trying to transport a data type but I'm getting the below mentioned error.
This is happening even when I gave the proper name of SWCV that contains this data type.
Please suggest how this problem can be solved.
Thanks,
Ajeya G V

Hi Ajeya,
An easy trick is to open the DataType on your Enterprise Service Builder, and once it is opened, (not edit, just open) go to Tools --Export Design Object
The correct SC will be filled as default.
