Total for stacked bar

Is it possible to show the total for the stacked bar in
column chart and bar chart?
eg. If I have two series with values 3 and 5 and they are
stacked, I just want to show the total 8 for the whole stack on the
top as in data label. But what I able to find is only showlilng
datalabel using labelPosition for each series.
Is it possible to show the total of whole stack on top? If
yes, please let me know how?

CR XI Issue with Stacked Bar Chart

I'm hoping this question is easy.
I'm having trouble creating a stacked bar chart.
I want to do a Bar Chart which will show one "Bar" for each Priority (Priority 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) and then for each Priority divide out, by color, the Status (Submitted, Reviewing, Working, Testing....).
For example, let's say that there are 10 Priority 1 records. Of those 10, 5 have a Status of Submitted, 3 are being Reviewed and 2 are being Tested. Then the Priority 1 bar should show a count of 10 which is comprised of 3 colors which will correspond to the 3 Statuses that make up the 10 Priority 1 records.
I can't get the Stacked Bar Chart to display this correctly.
In the Chart Expert, the Data Tab says:
-- On change of: Priority - Ascending
-- Show Value(s): Count of Status
When I run the CR, it get's the Priority correct and I see the total for each Priority. But it does not then take each Bar and color code by Status.
Any ideas how to get it to do that?

Hi,
You should have in On change of field a sub group as well.
For stacked bar charts it is necessary to have a group and a sub group fields in on change of section.
Say you have the month.
no of priority1 in jan etc.

Help with stacked bar chart

I'm looking for help regarding horizontal stacked bar chart. Typically for stacked bars Publisher seems to want data for each stacks per row, but my data looks like this:

So each bar would be the TYPE element, and each stack within the bar would be the CLASS element.

I'm sorry that I missed that you didn't want an overlay solution. You wrote it plainly, I just didn't read carefully.
This is as close as I could come to how I now read your request:
Here I have charted your Actual and a column of zeros that I have called the Goal Reference. The last column contains the goal values and I have used them as Positive Custom Error Bars for the Goal Reference series. I'm not thrilled with the look, but unless I know for sure that I'm on the right track, I'll leave it there for now. The width difference between the goal and the actual can be adjusted.

Hi Gurus,
Can somebody give me an idea, how do i use the GRAPH2d/ GRAPH3D function modules, to get a Stacked bar graph?
I have seen the GRAL transaction for examples, but i don't see any example for Stacked Bar Graph.

I guess you don't get it in staked bar graph. because how can you identify A, B when C(0-300) is completely overlapped A, B ? use normal bar graph instead.

Workaround for NO DATA FOUND in stacked bar chart?

Hello, Ive got a stacked bar chart in the making, when one of the series doesnt have data, the whole chart show the no data found message but not the other series that do have data. Is there a workaround for this? can I catch the exception in the Series Query? Or is there any other workaround someone has tried with success???

Ok, figured out a workaround based on my rusted SQL memories (its probably not the most efficient way to go), made a view like this:

Line stacked bar graph without seperate measure for stacks

Hi All,
I want to create a line stacked bar combo graph in analytics but i do not want to create seperate column for each stack as the normal convention is since we want to show revenue based on region which keep adding up.
Can anyone guide about what pcxml to use for this.
I tried by modifyng the charts/linecolumn.cxml but it shows line also stacked which is not our requirement. There should be a single line only for this.
Can anyone please guid me for this?

The graph wizard in Reports 9i allows you to create a dual Y combination graph - is this not sufficient for your needs, or am I missing something?

Y axis max ignored for horizontal stacked bar chart (SVG)

G'day,
I'm using the standard SVG horizontal stacked bar chart (multi-series). I have set the Y axis maximum value but it is ignored - bars are plotted to their maximum height.
I've had no such problem with vertical stacked bar charts.
We're running v2.2.0.00.32.
Is this a known bug?

I don't understand why you are soying it is not possible.
Actually I think it is and quite easily but maybe i missunderstand the question.
But anyway, here is what I would do:
In the spreadsheet, you can calculate the percentage of each status per project:
     Completed     Pending     Partially completed     Not Started
Project 1     78.10%     6.46%     10.51%     4.93%
Project 2     51.01%     2.62%     39.21%     7.15%
And then select these data for the stacked bar chart. Here you get the graph you are looking for.

I have created a stacked bar chart on which I have to show Datamarkers, but only for the two data series out of three.
Is it possible to show the textmarkers for the two series and hide it for the third one?

Suppress zero values for data labels in a stacked bar chart.

I've seen this question asked before, but I can't seem to find anyone who knows how to do this. I've made a stacked bar chart from a crosstab result, and I don't want to show labels that have a zero value. This seems like others would have this same issue as it can really clutter up a chart. The link below shows my chart. I am trying to remove the labels that say "On-PW 0"

the steps below will work on a regular chart..not sure about stacked...
1) in Preview mode of the report click on a Y axis value and go to Data Y Axis Options
2) go to Scale and set a Minimum Value of .001
3) check the Don't Draw Out Of Scale Values

Problems with stacked bar chart in Java SDK and CRDesigner

I have an issue with the rendering of stacked bar charts through the Java SDK and the CRDesigner. unfortunately, my research in this forum and with the help of aunt google didn't lead to success.
These are my problems:
I have a stacked bar chart which, when datasets/stacks increase in number per bar, displays errors:
1.) the single stacks of the bar merge together randomly and form bigger stacks with the sum of the singles. the information of single stacks gets lost in the bar.
2.) the total sum of all singles is bigger than the maximum value on the y-axis displays. thus, the scaling is wrong.
1.) appears in the CRDesigner as well as in the Java SDK
2.) only occurs in the Java SDK
Is there any trick to turn the random merging of slices off?
Is the false scaling a known issue and is there a bugfix/workaround?

hi folks,
i found the answer to the above problems:
when you specify the recordfields that are responsible for the change to the next stack or bar, the 'stack' fields have to be unique.
in my case i evaluated durations in msec (as stacks) from different devices (as bars). randomly i had the same durations for one device. what happens is, that CR does not notice a change and accumulates to the first stack with the same duration.
surprisingly this also seems to derange the axis scaling. fix the problem by simply using an overall unique recordfield like rownum or a formula that forms the current timestamp to text as identifier for the stacking.

Stacked bar chart showing zeros when there is no data

Hi,
I am developing a stacked bar chart which plots month vs sales of 3 different products.
I am showing data points and the total sales on chart. Every thing looks good except the zeros displayed on the chart if there are no sales for a product for a particular month... how to get rid of these zeros ? i mean how to display the value only if there is some data ?

Sounds like you have a left outer join from your product table to the sales data. Thus product is listed even when no data present.
Try changing join to Equal

Stacked Bar Chart Order

I am doing a stacked bar chart and I needt to control the vertical order of the bars. It seems to be always sorting alphabetically by my descriptions. My descriptions are 'No Mastery','Pre-mastery' and 'Mastery'.
I want:
Mastery
Pre-Mastery
No Mastery
It always shows as:
No Mastery
Mastery
Pre-Mastery
How can you control this?

Thank you for your reply! that solution indeed changes the alphabetical sort, the problem is that the order is now fixed (i.e. "Mastery" is always number 1)
I need them ordered by a particular column (for example total sales) I guess I can use ranks instead of fixed numbers (i.e. concatenating the calculated sales rank instead of always using "1" for "Mastery").

I need a stacked bar graph stacked but overlaying data help please

I have a requirement to change an existing combination graph.
Currently we use a combination graph that has a bar that shows the usage accross a number of weeks, with a line that shows total available over the top. So the customer can see what they have used in a week against themaximun it could be used in that week.
Unfortunatley our customer would like this changes to a single bar graph that shows the usage and then if the total available is more than the usage (it is sometimes the same but never less) then this should be added to the bar graph to increase the bar in a different colour.
I have looked at Reports 10g and the stacked bar graph seems perfect but this adds the two values together and not just the increase. I know i could minus one from the other but with the way my data is structured in the data model this could be a pain as they are linked via a data link in the data model and also seems a bit of a work around. Is there no way to have a overlay on the stacked graph or is there another way to achieve this that i cant see.

Instead of using creating the dataset using:
CategoryDataset datasetWorkload = DatasetUtilities.createCategoryDataset()
if a 'DefaultCategoryDataset' is used, the values to be displayed can be customised:

result.addValue(200.0, "Allocated", "Jan 04");

result.addValue(10.3, "Over-Allocated", "Jan 04");
