Transfer data from one table to another

Hi
I have a table which has number of columns. I fetch the rows and convert it in an XML format and insert it in anther table. There are couple of billions records, it will take days to transfer with a simple java program which I have already written.
Can anyone suggest me any better way to do it in hours?

I have a table called as Status, which has following columns

and I have second table which has following columns
Name                           Null                             Type
STATUS_ID                      NOT NULL                         RAW(16)
STATUS_BEAN                                                     XMLTYPE() Here Status_id is Primary Key.
So I am fetching all rows at one time and insert it in Map which has the Key as Status_id and Value is the List of VO which has the all columns as properties. If a status_id repeats more than one time then it will store all rows as VO and store it in the List of status_id in Map.
Then I convert each list in XML from Map and store it in Second table with status_id and converted XML and it is true I am saving one row at time and commits the DB.
e.g. One Status_id is repeated twice so there are two row then I create VO for each row and store it in List stored against the Status_id in Map and while saving I will convert the List into XML which is as following

This is what I use to quote bathroom remodels. The first thing I do is completely fill in the Master Item List with every Product or Service we can think of to do the project. The Type column has a pop-up menu which includes Combo because some Contractors don't separate the Product from Labor. The Category Totals Table is useful but since some Contractors provide Product and Service at the same time on one invoice I don't get accurate breakdowns for generating my invoices.
What I would like is to transfer all Vendor names included in the project to the Vendor Totals Table but without any duplicates. Some Contractors might perform services in several categories. I've read many listings in the forum and am just not seeing the answer.
I have a sample file ready to send. I don't see a way to send it with this message. First Post! Sorry!

Hi Jeff,
Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Numbers '09 forum.
If your Vendor names (including duplicates) are all in the same column of the source table, it shouldn't be difficult to transfer them to a second table using the technique described below.
For the example, the source table is named Main and has one header row, the Vendors are listed in column C (starting at C2), and column B is used as an index column. Note that to use VLOOKUP, the index column must be to the left of the Vendor column.
The index is generated using the following formula in B2, and filled down to the end of the column:
=IF(COUNTIF(C$1:C2,C)=1,MAX($B$1:B1)+1,"")
On the second table, Vendor List, the following formula is used in Column A (starting at A2) to collect the indexed vendors from the Main table"
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(ROW()-1,Main :: B:C,2,FALSE),"")
IFERROR is used to trap the "couldn't find" error in the 'empty' rows of Vendor List.
'FALSE' displays as "exact-match" in the formula, and prevents the rpeated listing of the last vendor that would be created by 'close-match'.

Transfer data from one database to another without identities but keep the relation b/w PK and Foreign key

Hi,
I need to transfer data from one database to another database (both are identical databases).
1. Not transferring identity columns (primary keys). the destination table might have the same key.
2. keep the PK's and FK's relation b/w parent and child table
3. I have 4 levels
Example: tableA (col1 int identity(1,1) , col2, col3)
tableB (col1 int identity(1,1) ,
col2 , col3) -- col2 has the foreign key relation with tableA.col1
tableC (col1 int identity(1,1) ,

Adding Data From One Table to Another

Now, this doesn't strike me as a particularly complex problem, but I've either strayed outside the domain of Numbers or I'm just not looking at the problem from the right angle. In any case, I'm sure you guys can offer some insight.
What I'm trying to do is, essentially, move data from one table to another. One table is a calendar, a simple two column 'date/task to be completed' affair, the other is a schedule of jogging workouts, i.e, times, distances. Basically, I'm trying to create a formula that copies data from the second table onto the first but only for odd days of the week, excepting Sundays (and assuming Monday as the start of the week). Now, this isn't the hard part, I can do that. The problem comes when I replicate the formula down the calendar. Even on the days when the 'if' statement identifies it as an 'even day', the cell reference to the appropriate workout on the second table is incremented, so when it comes to the next 'odd day', it has skipped a workout.
I can't seem to see any way of getting it to specifically copy the NEXT line in the second table, and not the corresponding line.
This began as a distraction to try and organise my running so I could see at a glance what I had to do that day and track my progress, but now it's turned into an obsession. SURELY there's a solution?

Several possible ways to move the data occur to me, but the devil's in the details of how the data is currently arranged.
Is it
• a list of three workouts, one for each of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, then the same three repeated the following week?
• an open-ended list that does not repeat?
• something else?

Moving time-dependant data from one table to another (archiving)

Hello all
I would like to know if there's an easier solution or a "best practice" to move data from one table to another. The context of this issue can be found within "archiving".
More concretely: we have an application that uses several tables to log information to.
These tables are growing like crazy, and we would like to keep only "relevant" data in those tables, so I was thinking about moving data from these tables that have been in there for, say 2 months, to "archiving" tables.
I figured there must be some kind of "best practice" to get this done.
I have already written a procedure that loops the table that has the time indicator and inserts the records from the normal tables into the archive tables (and afterwards delete this data), but it seems to be taking ages to get it done.

I had a custom table called sales_data in that table there are columns like JAn,FEB,upto DEC including other columns so in each month there is some data total data is 23000 count but each month has has specific data like JAn-2500,FEB-2000 like that it has total 23000 records
My Requirement is i have to move data from one table to another table that too if i will pass jan only jan data should move like that feb,march,.....
in my table there is no month column i had get it from another table called gl_periods and by using cursor and case function i have written the code
well while when i am inserting data am passing year,month as parameters but 23000 data is moving it should get like that.

Moving Data from one table to another table

Hi,
I've a requirement to move large volumes (few billions) of data from one table to another empty target table. The target has more number of attributes and may not have same attribute name as the source. Please let me know what's the best method using oracle to move data in this case?

Append data from one table to another.

Hi,
I want to insert/append some or all the data from one table to another table.
For eg: Data from table table1 to be appended to table2 with the same constraints, indexes etc. The columns are same for both the tables.
I am using 10g version 2.
Please specify which method would be good for this process.

INSERT INTO TABLE1 SELECT * FROM TABLE2;The above command would insert data into table2 and it also contain the old data.Is that right,

Different ways to Transfer data from one database to another database

Hi all,
What are the ways to transfer data from one database to another database. With the following options, i Can transfer data as far as i know. Please
correct me if i am wrong or tell me if there is any other options are available.
1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.
2) By using Export and Import utilities.
I told first one to my interviewer, he told, its strange, by using, COPY command also can we transfer data ? As far as i know, we can transfer data. Am i right ?

1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.every SELECT on a DB-link is transfering data. And you can have all kind of transfers and store on the e.g CTAS of materialized views or.... the SQL*PLUS COPY :
The COPY command is not being enhanced to handle datatypes or features introduced with, or after Oracle8i. The COPY command is likely to be made obsolete in a future release.
But there are many others. Check for ORACLE Streams, and the "COPY" your interviewer was mentioning is about the operating file system COPY right? That's transportable tablespaces.
