  • Difference between Bom of semi-finished goods & f/g material master

    Dear all,
What is the    Difference between Bom of semi-finished goods & f/g material master ?
    Just I don't know wt r we maintained in s/f  BoM ?
    Regards,
    sahoo

There is no difference  in SFg and FG Material master. some time Straegy group will differ.
    FOR BOM
create a seperate Bom For SFG anf FG
In SFG BOM - maintain what are the materials required to make the FG in Compnent and the quantity.
In FG BOM- maintain SFG material as component and give the quantity, item category and other raw material or SFG

  • How to including the finished goods as raw material to the other FG?

    Hi Gurus,
    Have a nice day!
We would like to create production order for our semi finished goods and then we will doing confirmation. After we have produced our semi finished goods, we would like to include it in the bom as raw materials for our final FG. But how to handle this situation? Any suggestion on how the procedure to do it that the cost will not be double..when confirming the semi FG production it will generate cost for the usages of it raw materials. The semi FG is valuated then when i included it as raw material into Final FG it will generate cost for consumption in doing confirmation. I dont know the correct term for this scenario. In other word or semi FG will be part as a raw material to the next production.
Please advise if you have been encountered the same scenario with me.
    Thanks ,
    Weldin

    Hello Gurus,
Thanks julian for contributing your idea. I really appreciated it.
Right now all activity in manufacturing FG is combine in one production order. Let say we have two activity one is the extrusion and the other one is bagging and printing. From our current set up, we would like to separate the activity. The idea is one production order for extrusion serve as semi-finished good. Then this semi-FG will be added in the component of our final FG which is the bagging and printing because in actual transaction that would be the procedure. Theoritically, we would like to separate the cost of extrusion activity to bagging activity. That is why we will be trying to figure out how to do it right for the analysis purposes.
Other of my idea is when  i will set the semi FG to non valuated material. So that when i add  the semi FG as component to our Final FG no double costing happen. But when we will run the costing run it will compute low cost in terms of standard price for our final product.
    Thanks and best regards,

and When i press F4 in Valuation Class area it is not appearing
Can any one give me the solution
    Regards,
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
Go to Transaction Code OMSK. You will find three tabs there.
Go to the second tab i.e, valuation class, note the account category reference assigned to the valuation class "IBM2".
Come out of that screen and access the third tab ie., Material Type/Account Category reference.
Check whether Account category reference related to the valuation class "IBM2" is assigned to ther material type "Finished product" or not.
If not, assign the same. It should work.
    Warm regards,

  • How to put configurable material in finished stock???

    Hi
How to put configurable material in finished stock?? wt is transaction code??or is there  any different process for that?????????//

    Hi
In Variant Configuration Scenario stock will be maintained for the material variants not for the K-mat directly. Certain Material Variants will be Produced and Kept in stock before a sales order will be raised by customer for the K-mat
Material Variant Creation Steps (Material variants are the stockable items in VC Scenario)
    1) Create a MV with Material type FERT and Stg 10 or 40 (Classification view not essential)
    2) Assign the K-mat material to this MV in Basic data - 2 view in Cross Plant CM field and click on Configure variant tab to select the fixed char value combination for this MV. Do the same steps in MRP-III view

  • Differentiation of raw material and finished goods from tax / valuation

    Hi,
There are certain materials which are sometimes produced inhouse (considered as finished goods) and sometimes procured from outside (considered as raw material) i.e the same material can be raw material or finished goods depending on its use. Taxes and valuations are different depending on whether the material is RM (Raw material ) or FG (Finished goods) .  How can we differentiate if we intend to have the same material number. Do not intend to have split valuation.
    Thanks in advance .
    With regards,
    Mrinal

You cannot differemntiate them. Only way to differentiate such materials is by either  by different codes, or by split valuation.

  • Finished product as packaging material

    Dear experts,
    Plz help. Many thanks.
Background: Product A is finished product and can be sold. Meanwhile, it can be used as packaging material for another finished product B. However, only B has selling price as customers only buy B.
Q1: Can product A be maintained as packaging material and finished product as well? Any impact on accounting?
Q2: If answer for Q1 is yes, can product A be used to create sales order together with B? You know, product A also need production. Production department want production requirements from sales orders (say Tcode MD04). Meanwhile, they're required to pack B with A before warehouse receives B.
Q3: If answer for Q1\2 is no, how to solve?

    Hi Cathy,
You only need to do the normal packaging material related masterdata maintanence and configurations. I created a query long ago and was answered by many people on packaging. I am giving you the link. Please go to the thread to know how to enable packing. Using this set up, you can do multilevel  packaging or any kind of packaging you want.
    Packing process
Normal sales doesnt need any explanation here.

  • Want to use different valuation type for one finish in house prod. materia

    Hi,
Please update on subject requirement of different valuation type for same finish in house produced material.
    We take e.g. as below
    Valuation type -1) VA01
                             2) VA02
Want to assign both valuation types to material FINISH01
Then, i want create process order as per valuation type VA01 & VA02 ,let consider for 5 quantity each. While creating process
order, system shoulf propose selection of valuation type.
    Regards,
    Chetan

    Hi,
use Split Valuation, When u do the GR against production order...System will ask valuation type.
and Same material code with maintained with different valuation type in your inventory.

  • SOP and transfer to Demand management for MTO material

    Hi all,
    I have the following situation:
I have a material, a finished goods product with planning strategy 20 Make to order defined in the material master. I enter a sales forecast for the material in SOP in SAPECC (transaction MC87), works fine.
But when I try to release the forecast to Demand Management (MC74), I get the following error message: "No requirements type exists for material 110100 1 in plant 2". I can see that planning strategy 20 MTO does not have any requirement type defined.
But what is the best practice then to forecast on MTO materials (with strategy 20 MTO)?
What I want to do is to bring down the requirements of the MTO material to Long term planning to get a BOM explosion for the components. I realize that I should not start a production plan for the MTO material, but I want to plan the requirements for components several months ahead.
What is the best practice? Should I use a different production strategy? Am I missing config or any fundamental thinking here?
I need to have the material as a MTO strategy, but I want to plan the components.
Please, give me input on this if you have any solution.
    Regards,
    Lars

    Hi Lars,
Here's what you need to do:
    1. Instead of pure 20, customize a strategy group that has in it 20 and 10, and attach this strategy group to your material.
    2. In MC74 specify requirements type LSF, demand management version, and make sure to uncheck the "active" box (otherwise you will get requirements in the operative system, and not only in LTP).
    3. Do the transfer, and include the version in a LTP scenario.

  • QM-Result Recording transfer from one material to another material

    Dear QM masters,
    I have following scenario:
Material A has Material B as a component and Material B has Material C as component. Material A is batch managed. Material C has in-process inspection with partial lot using inspection point functionality. Last result recorded for this in-process inspection should be used for quality certificate of Material A.
Thanks a lot in advance for any help extended and will be rewarded with maximum points.
    Thanks and regards,
    Devang

Since you are in ECC 6.0 you can also use batch derivation to have the components values copied to the next material being made.  In this way, batch values for Material C get copied to material B batch and material B batch values get copied to Material A batch.
Then on the cert, you only need to report the value from the material A batch.  No need to set up the result from production chain in the COA profile.

  • Material types in material master

    Hi ,
What is the material type do we require in handling CS scenario?
Is it necessary to create BOM's for all the equipment?
    Please respond
    Thanks and Regards
    Ashish

    hi
    1) A grouping together of materials with the same basic attributes such as raw materials, semifinished products, or finished products.
All materials must be assigned to a material type which determines:
Whether the material is intended for a specific purpose such as a configurable material or process material
Whether the material number can be assigned internally or externally
The number range from which the material number is drawn
Which screens appear and in what sequence
Which user department data you may enter
What procurement type the material has; that is, whether it is manufactured in-house or procured externally, or both.

  • Material Type during Material Creation

    Hi all:
For creating Raw Material  or Finished Product from MMR1 and MMF1, there is no need to select material type, . I have created Material Type for e.g Gold, Silver, Color Stone, even i have to create Gold, Silver and Color Stone material without selecting material type.
Could anyone help me with this.
    Regards.
    Shegar.

    Hi,
I guess defaulting is not possible. Copy the existing material and create a new one so that the inspection type is also copied.

  • Open Prod. Orders = Convert Non-Valuated material to Valuated material

    Hello,
We have converted from Non-Valuated Materials to Valuated manterials in Stock.
But now, we are concerned with Open Production Orders - which have Non-Valuated Materials already issued to the order.
We would like to find out how do other companies handle this type of scenario.
Is there a tool or program that can be used, please advice.
    Many thanks in advance,

    Rio,
We have used Production orders when we want to convert 1 material number to another material number. It is a good & robust process. It allows the business to capture the cost of converting 1 material to another material with all the labor and or machine  costs.
In your case I assume you may be using an unvaluated material as component & adding some labor or machine time to arrive at your Valuated material. Seems like a normal & straightforward process.
Anothe option is to do a standard Transfer posting using Material to material transfer ( mov type 309). It allows to transfer post materials that have same material type. But you may have to check if it allows to convert unvaluated (UNBW)  to unvaluated (HALB) material type or not.
But fisrt option is a good process.
    Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Price update from Original Material to copied Material Master

    I have a scenario,
We are selling Raw materials to outside companies who have shortage of materials on Loan Basis. Once they have materials, they will return the materials within a time period. If they don't have the materials and unable to return within the said time, they will make the payment.
We will follow the normal sales process to sell the item to the customer.
    1. creating sales order,
    2. Outbound Delivery, and
    3. Billing
Return process when receiving the materials from the company.
    1. Billing Cancellation
    2. PGI Cancellation
Since this is not an actual sale, hence we need to maintain selling price same as the purchase price.
We are planning to extend the Raw Materials to Sales View in the material master. However, we came to know that this will be Violation of Act. Hence we are planning to create a new material by copying the existing Raw Material master but the Material type will be Issue on Loan. This material will have sales view and purchase view.
This material will have a separate Valuation Class. Price control indicator will be V, since the item should be valuated at Purchase Price and the purchase price will keep changing as and when the price changes. This moving average price will be used as selling price.
The same price needs to be updated in the Sales Order automatically from the Loan Material Master when selling the Loan Material.
Now, the problem we are facing is, if we create a new Loan Material by copying Raw Material master with ROH material type, how will the price update in New Loan Material since, we will not purchase the Loan Material. We are purchasing the original item as raw material. Hence, this will not update the Loan Material Price automatically and the price will remain unchanged.
    Please suggest a work around?

    Hi,
Let me explain to you how I am proceeding.
    Step 1:
Create new material master by copying existing Raw Material with Issue on Loan material type. I am assigning a new Valuation Class in this material master. Also, we keep the pricing
    Step 2:
Transfer stock from old material to new material in MB1B with movement type 309.
Step 3: Issue of Loan Material to Customer on loan basis.
Creating Sales Order, PGI and Billing
Step 4: Receipt of Item back from Customer
    Sales Return process.
Step 5: In case Customer does not return goods, then we will collect payment from them
In the entire process we need to maintain the selling price at purchase price of the original material. Can you suggest any work around, in case this process is not advisable.
