Tree Limit?  Interactive reports

Hello
We have a tree on page 0
We have tabs that show different parts of the tree
Whenever we get 26 "leafs" of a tab the interactive reports on that tab fail.
You can try to filter on a column item (State).
When you mouse over to select a state we get javascript:void(false);
and the interactive report locks up.
We make one of the report not active so going to 25 "leafs" no problems same report.

The client wants to see the entire organization hierarchy, who reports to whom in a tree like structure along with the user's designation.I achieved this through Reports using the CASE function...but the report format is not what we need.
The other procedure is through book.the user can view the hierarchy through the look in selector.but only user name is displayed. What can we do do display it along with their designations?

  • The number of display columns in the report reached the limit" Interactive Report

I get the error message of "The number of display columns in the report reached the limit" when trying to display less than 100 (100 is limit) columns when an aggregate has been created.   This does not happen when an aggregate has not been added to the IR report.  It seems to happen because I have a control break on as well.  When I turn off the control break it works but is not the result that we want.  Interesting enough, if I filter the results down to 500 rows it works just fine.  Does oracle treat aggregates as columns!?  This is a really odd issue that I really need to clear up.

    Hi,
i have set up a small test case on apex.oracle.com and I receive the same error if I use download format.
    I have a table
test_blob (id number, name varchar2(10), blobcont blob)
    If I create IR like
      select
        id,
        name,
        blobcont
from test_bloband then I define download format I hit the error.
If you want this to work you have to change your query to
      select
        id,
        name,
        dbms_lob.getlength(blobcont) blobcont
from test_blobAnd then again define download format for blob on blobcont column.

  • Interactive Report Download to CSV limit is 65535 in APEX 3.2

    Hello ,
I have an IR report in APEX 3.2 that returns around 75,000 rows . I have set the maximum row count in the report attributes under Pagination to 200,000 rows.
Despite this when I download the report to CSV, only 65535 rows are downloaded .
Is this a known bug with APEX 3.2 ? can someone please share the link if this bug is documented.
If not, Is there some other attribute I need to change to increase the download limit ?
    Thanks,

    Hi Tony,
Thanks for the reply . I have adjusted maximum row count to 100,000, even then I can download only 65535 .
I have around 12-15 Interactive Reports(each with different Query) and I do not want to write a custom download procedure for each report and also the application is in production.
I just want to understand(confirm) if it is a existing bug (3.2) , if there is any patch that will solve this or if there is a setting somewhere that I have missed.
Can you please check with some other query on your 3.2 installation ?
    I ran a test on
    select rownum
from all_objects where rownum < = 80000Norma report I was able to download all the rows but IR stopped at 65535

  • Interactive Report Returns Misleading Data Because of ROWNUM Limit

Hi, We have been relying on widespread use of Interactive Reports for internal Business Intelligence in our company, and they have been very popular. However, a user found a data discrepancy when sorting a report because the ROWNUM limit of :APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT is applied before the user requested ORDER BY clause. We are running Apex version 3.2.0.00.27 on a 10.2.0.4 database.
The IR query returns quotes from our custom quoting application, and the default number of rows is 100 (and is changeable by the user). The user wanted to see the most recent quotes, so he selected the "Creation Date" column header and simply applied a descending filter. The most recent quote returned was dated last week. However, if he applied an additional filter of "creation date in the last week", he did see today's date and mostly current quote rows.
When I ran debug on his IR query, I can see that the ROWNUM limit is applied first, then the ORDER BY. This means that the database fetches the first x rows that match the supplied parameters, and then orders the result set. However, this is not what the user meant, he wanted the first rows of an ordered set.
Here's the debug query output (with the middle removed because it's long):
    select
           "QUOTE_NUMBER",
           "CUSTOMER",
           "CUST_CONTACT",
           "QUOTE_STATUS",
           "TOTAL_PRICE",
           "TOTAL_WEIGHT",
           "WHSE",
           "SHIP_DATE",
           "PO_NUMBER",
           "ORACLE_REFERENCE",
           "INSIDE_SALESREP",
           "OUTSIDE_SALESREP",
           "CREATION_DATE",
           "ID",
           "ORA_CUST_ID",
           "CUST_CONTACT_ID",
           count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    SELECT
      kh.id,
      kh.ora_cust_id,
      kh.quote_number quote_number ,
      kh.cust_contact_id,
      k2_customers_pkg.get_contact(cust_contact_id) cust_contact ,
      k2_customers_pkg.get_cust_name(kh.ora_cust_id)customer,
      k2_customers_pkg.get_cust_number(ora_cust_id)
    ( ......... more sql goes here )
    AND k2_customers_pkg.get_outside_salesrep_number(kh.ora_site_id)||'%' LIKE :P64_OUTSIDE_SALES||'%'
    AND kh.whse_code like :P64_WAREHOUSES||'%'
    AND ((1=
CASE WHEN :P64_ITEM_ID IS NULL THEN
            1
        ELSE
            (SELECT 1
               FROM k2_quote_lines kl
               JOIN k2_ingredients ki
                 ON ki.quote_line_id=kl.id
              WHERE (1=1
                AND kh.id=kl.quote_id
                AND ki.ora_item_id=:P64_ITEM_ID AND ROWNUM=1))
        END)
        OR 1=(
            SELECT 1 FROM k2_quote_lines kl WHERE kl.quote_id=kh.id AND kl.part_id=:P64_ITEM_ID AND ROWNUM=1
    )  r
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
order by "CREATION_DATE" DESC,"QUOTE_NUMBER" DESCHowever, what the user wanted is to have the ORDER BY applied first, then the limit. I realize performance may suffer, but users are now alarmed that they cannot trust these reports. I'm tempted to log a SR with Oracle on this.
Any thoughts on this? Is this fixed in 4.0?
    Thank you, Wolf Moritz

Hi, thanks for the response. I did spend a bit of time on trying to trick the interactive report into reversing the rownum and order by clauses. But ultimately I didn't see how to do it. Whatever query I paste into the source of the report is then wrapped in a couple of containing select statements which first applies the rownum limit and then the order by clause (if the user selects any columns to sort by).
    So this query:
    select * from scott.empBecomes:
    select
           "EMPNO",
           "ENAME",
           "JOB",
           "MGR",
           "HIREDATE",
           "SAL",
           "COMM",
           "DEPTNO",
           count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    select * from scott.emp
    )  r
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
pAnd a user applied sort becomes:
    select
           "EMPNO",
           "ENAME",
           "JOB",
           "MGR",
           "HIREDATE",
           "SAL",
           "COMM",
           "DEPTNO",
           count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    select * from scott.emp
    )  r
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
order by "DEPTNO" DESCIf I could somehow bind to some item for the order by string I might then be able to trick the report into ordering the result set first (which I know can't really be done unless using dynamic sql). Forcing an initial hard coded order by isn't practical on this particular report, although I do see why that might work in some circumstances.
Side note on the oddly placed case statement: This interactive report has some page level "meta" parameter items, and that case statement was meant as a way to avoid an exists statement on a particularly large table if no value was submitted for P64_ITEM_ID. It's been a long time since we deployed the report, so it's probably worth testing some explain/autotrace plans on this case statement vs an exists statement in the predicate. But for now it works!
    Thanks, Wolf

  • How to limit an Interactive Report Region from displaying.

I have a page which is an interactive report. When you call that page from another one it takes a while as it is selecting all rows (over 10k). Once those rows are retrieved and the user adds a filter criteria it's relatively fast. How do I limit the report from running when I call the page until the user adds a filter?
    thanks
    John

I'm not sure how this works. If I set it to a really small number say 5 rows it shows only 5 rows upon rendering of that page. However, when I subsequently click on Go for all rows or any other larger number I don't get the larger number. How do I get that portion to work as well?
    thanks

  • Tree structure in an interactive report

    Hi All,
I hope someone can suggest a solution.  I have 2 tables that I am trying to join in an interactive report and have a tree like structure.  The table are set up like the following:
    Table tools - TOOL_ID, TOOL_NAME, TOOL_DESCRIPTION
Each tool can be connected to many parts:
    Tool to Parts table - PART_ID, TOOL_ID
Ideally the report that I want will show the tools data with the functionality to drill down to display the parts that are associated with that tool.
I could create another report region on the page to pass the tool_id to as a parameter and display the tool_to_part data based on that but then I will lose the functionality that comes with the interactive report (only one interactive report per page).  A tree region wont give me the functionality that comes with an interactive report either allowing me perform searches on etc.
The report that I would like would something like:
    +Tool ID    Tool Name
        Part A
        Part B
        Part C
where the parts data can be collapsed with the '+'
    I am using APEX v4.0
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
You can place a detail report inline with your master TOOL report, using an iframe. I've once made a small setup for this, perhaps it's of help to you:

  • Interactive Report Download Limit

    Hi All,
By default, interactive reports set the number of records that can be viewed & downloaded to ten thousand. When I increase this to; say, five million - this causes a browser to crash (I have checked with Firefox & IE) when i try to download or just view all records.
What I want to know is: is there a work around solution to this? Can a user be able to download millions of records from the database without affecting the application's performance? If it is - How?
    Thanks for making the time.

  • Interactive Report

How to create a classical report for this requirements,
    1) purchase documents and vendor.
    2) vendor performance report that lists vendor name, materials
Supplied and actual delivery times, payments terms and prices
    Purchase.
    3) Requisitions with details like MRP controller, release date, unit
to Measure along with the standard details
    4) list of customer number, Credit limit To the given Customer.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sivaguru.

    Joel,
I have checked the report attributes and the "Save Report" checkbox is checked.
I as a developer, can save a default report selection and this is understood.
The problem is, when signing in as a user, no save icon is visible.
I thought maybe it was something with the install, so I created the Demo application and if I create an interactive report there, it works fine for the end user.
They do act differently in development modes between the two applications.
In Demo, if I save as a developer, "Save Report" choice, I get a window where I can name the report or select from drop down, "As default Report Settings".
In my application, if I save as a developer, "Save Report*" choice, I get a window that just states:
"The current report settings will be used as the default for all users" and my choice is Cancel or Apply.
The choice in developer mode is also different, one has an asterisk and the other doesn't.
I think it might have something to do with authentication?
The Demo application prompts for user name and password and my application doesn't have authentication because user is authenticated done before getting into the application.
Without authentication, it probably won't save reports for each user.
I do have access to each users id, would need to know where I can use it to tell the application this and that they are authenticated already.
    Thanks for your help,
    Rick

  • Dynamically set maximum row count in Interactive Report

    Hi,
Has anyone worked out a way of dynamically setting (e.g. via select list) the maximum row count value for an Interactive Report, taking into account issues with order by when the report is filtered. I'm aware of solutions like this: http://www.talkapex.com/2010/10/apex-reports-no-limit-downloads.html but as far as I can tell this doesn't work when the report is filtered and the IR is rewritten in the background. Data sets then become unreliable because they are reordered.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
You can do that with javascript
gReport.search('SEARCH',100)the 100 you can replace for any number you like.I have a report with filter, sorting and groups and it is gives no problem there.
any number means any number but not higher than the number you set at Maximum Rows Per Page.
You probably can mix the solution from Martin and the above code.

  • Widget Failure on Interactive Report

I have a page with an Interactive Report that is getting the following error when entering a search in the search field.
    {"dialog":{"uv":true,"row":[{"V":"Widget Failure
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small,
    worksheet"}]}}
I am able to search using the report filters (from the Actions menu) without getting this error. I am also able to search without any problems if I specify the column in the Search Field drop down. So it seems the error is only occurring when entering a search in the search field and not selecting a report column so that it performs a row contains search. Could there be a limit to the number of columns allowed in an interactive report when using this search feature? Or could it be that one of my columns is too big?
    Any ideas are much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
I have the same issue.. did you figure it out?

  • Question on Interactive Report feature sorting

    Hi,
I have about over 10,000 records and used the interactive report feature on Apex. For some reason, on the timestamp column, I tried to resort in the latest date and it only shows the latest date of last year and didn't show the latest date of 2010. I tried changing the timestamp column to sort by descending, and it doesn't show any latest date in 2010, only 2009.
Could this be an issue with the interactive report issue.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi,
If you have default 10,000 row limit in interactive report , sorting work only for that record set.
Increase rows that report show, or you can use ORDER BY in report select to get e.g. 10,000 latest row.

  • Interactive Report Attributes: Missing a column?

This is for Application Express 3.2.1.00.12
I'm working on a report with the columns pulled in a SQL statement in the Region Definition section of the Interactive Report Attributes screen. We want to alter the column names so they are more user friendly, so on the Report Attributes tab, I'm looking for the column name we wish to alter, but it is not showing up. Now, in the final report, the column is visible with the header from the name of the column from the database, so the system is aware of the column and can display it, but for some reason we can't see it in the Report Attributes tab.
Why would a column be invisible or inaccessible in the Report Attributes tab? There are 100 columns displayed in the Report Attributes: Column Attributes section. Is that the reason I'm missing some columns; 100 is a hard column limit on that page?
Thanks in advance for all help you can provide.

  • Interactive Report Column Headings and Row Height

I am using the div style="width:350px;" method to control the width of columns in various interactive reports. That works fine except for the following:
    1. When creating filters, the <div...> stuff shows up along with the actual column heading, thus confusing some end users
    2. Even when I uncheck the "Use same text for single row view" checkbox and then provide a simple single row view label, the <div> stuff still shows up on the single row view
Does anyone have a better solution?
Also, does anyone know of a way to limit the row height within an interactive report row? I have some columns of data that contain a large amount of HTML data and I'd like to be able to limit the number of rows that show on the report.
Is Oracle planning to provide some better control over the Interactive Report columns in another version? The Interactive Report is such a huge improvement in usability in APEX - it would be great to take it to another level by providing some better control over column width and row height.

    Dale,
Unfortunately we don't have much we can use to do what you would like. I would have said it's impossible until version 4 but you could actually do something similar to what Roel has done. His trick is in the edit button. He changed the edit button to use an "onload" call to a JavaScript process. You could do the same but call a process that goes across the rows and styles each column. Now because you don't have a way to identify the column (can't use the order because the end user could change it) you'll have to write the code to look at the top row first and then style the appropriate column. As far as I can tell, this would be quite difficult and inefficient. Having said that if you need it that bad and would like some help with it, put up an example application on apex.oracle.com and provide the workspace/username/password and I'll take a look.
