  • Tree style tabs is broken on beta 4

Tree Style tabs works with FF4 beta 3, but is broken with beta 4. When one attempts to use it with beta 4, the tabs over write the menu area text.

Version 0.10.2010080802 of the add-on states that is is compatible with up to 4.0b4pre rather than 4.0b4
The last update to the add-on was on 8th August, there have been quite a few changes made that relate to tabbed browsing, particularly the Tab Candy/Panorama changes, that may have caused the add-on to stop working.

  • Tree Style Tabs keep flashing bright and dim. I've re-installed twice. Any ideas?

Recently I updated my Tree-Style tabs and they've started flickering very quickly from bright to dim. When I uninstall and reinstall, it's fine, but as soon as I reboot my computer and open FF, it happens again.

It is always best to avoid using such external cleaners as you can never be sure if they aren't corrupting files and it is usually not worth the trouble to repair damage if that is the case. A lot of the SQLite database files use a complicated table setup that can easily get corrupted.

  • In FF 4.0, how do I set the Tree-Style Tabs extention to keep tabs open when I exit (like it did up through FF 4b11)??

In FF 3.5 through 4.0b11, the Tree-style Tabs extension kept tabs open when I exited so that when I re-opened the program, all tabs re-opened at the same time. Now, every time I return ot the program, I have to re-load all of the tabs I use on a daily basis.

    Hi,
I'm using the Tree Style Tab and love it.
However, I was wondering if there's a way to collapse/expand the tab sidebar using a keyboard shortcut.
    Ideas, anyone?

  • A search engine page has started appearing when I press New Tab. There are no new add-ons. How can I get back to the frequently-used sites thumbnails?

I used to get a page of thumbnails when I pressed + for a new tab but now I get a search engine that seems to be "Connect SP 6 Toolbar". I can't find it to delete in the Add-Ons or Extensions.

You can check these extensions and try to uninstall ro disable them.

Your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there.
you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js

  • In Firefox 3.6.13, the Tree Style Tabs ver. 0.11.2011011301 has stuck me with a screen-hogging, multi-line Navigation bar icons panel I cannot get rid of.

And those are?  I installed dbus as that's the only daemon the beginners guide mentions, and I added alsa and a few others to rc.conf for good measure but saw no change and removed them.  So right now I only have:
    $ grep DAEMONS /etc/rc.conf
    # DAEMONS
    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network crond dbus)

  • On opening and every time I click the home icon, a second tab opens entitled "customizing firefoxx with add-ons

I tried uninstall and reinstall of Firefox but the pesky tab still opens every time I click the home icon. To make it worse I get a new tab every time which means I can have multiple customizing tabs opening during a single session. How can I stop this happening?

In Options/General you must have more than one Home page selected.

  • Flash-Addon "succesfully installed" but not listed in "add-ons", keeps asking to reinstall again and again...

I have FF 15.0.1 freshly installed on a new Win7-PC (home premium 64bit).
I have tried to install Adobe Flash from their site as well as through the automatically proposed add-on. Both claim it was "installed successfully". But when I check the addon-list, it's not there. Restarting firefox doesn't work.
I have some other plugins (pdf-reader) and extensions (ghostery, adblock) installed and they are working fine.
FF keeps me asking to install the plugin. I install it, and it's not there - asking me to install it. And so on. Could keep me busy for hours ;-(
    Please help! Thanks :)

There's an addon you can install called Nightly Tester Tools that will disable the addon compatibility check in Firefox. Download it, and it will appear in the, uh, "Firefox" menu (upper left corner). There should be an option that says "force addon compatibility". Check that, then restart Firefox.
There is an option under the about:config page that will turn it off, but I forgot the command. And you DON'T want to mess with the about:config page unless you know what you're doing.
For Java, I found a better answer than "download Palemoon". Here's what I did, don't know if it will work for you.
There are two versions of Java that are safe currently: Java Version 7 Update 7, and Java Version 6 Update 35. I was having a problem getting Firefox to recognize 7 u7, but it could recognize 6 u35 just fine. So here's what I did:
    1) I went to Oracle's website and downloaded the JRE directly from them, NOT from Firefox when it says to install the addon. Here is their site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
Make sure you download the JRE, and NOT the JDK, unless you plan on making your own Java apps.
    2) Download the following:
    Java 7 u 7 (32 bit)
    Java 7 u 7 (64 bit)
    Java 6 u 35 (32 bit)
Install both Java 7's first, then install Java 6 u 35.
    3) When you restart Firefox, go to your addons page and see which Java plugin it is pointing to. If it is pointing to version 6 u 35, then you are having the same problem as me, and I would just keep version 6 u 35. It should work and be compatible with Firefox, cause it worked for me.
If it says it is pointing to Java 7 u 7, then you can uninstall version 6 u 35. I would keep the 64 bit version of 7 u7 just in case you have a 64 bit browser like IE that you want to use it with. But that's what finally worked for me: download all three and throw them at Firefox and hope one of them sticks.
    Hope that helps.

  • I'm using FF 4 but i wont install add ons saying I'm running FF3.

Your user agent string (identifies the version of Firefox) is shown as "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) FBSMTWB" which indicates that Firefox 3.5.5 is installed.
Try resetting the user agent string so that it correctly identifies your version of Firefox:
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box at the top type '''general.useragent''', this should bring up a small number of preferences
    # Right-click on each one and choose '''Reset'''
It should hopefully then correctly identify the version of Firefox being used. The preference that is likely to have caused your problem is general.useragent.override

  • I was automatically updated to Version 11 which is still in Beta but none of the add ons I need are compatible

I'm VERY frustrated. The new version 11 is still in Beta and I got automatically upgraded without even being asked. As it is 3rd party software I've been sent made for FF hasn't been compatible to V10, so I've lost the ability to use them. How do I shut that feature off?
Now I feel I got stuck with this beta release yet there's almost no add ons compatible with this release and at this point I need them in order to function properly. How do I go back to V10?

Hello. If you are having trouble with the Beta version, uninstall all versions completely. Then go to Mozilla Firefox and install the regular version as if it were new.
When I try a Beta version, I open a new folder (Mozilla Firefox Beta) and install the Beta version there.
I still like the regular version of Firefox. I don't see anything new on this Beta version that I like, and it isn't compatible to my favorite theme or add-ons.
    Good luck. :)

I have firefox 15.0.1 and my addons won't load. I wanted to add something new and all it does is keep working like it's busy trying to open or load them but nothing happens. It's been like that for over 4 days. I can't add any new add ons at all. What's going on?? I

Do you mean the Get Add-ons tab on the about:addons (Firefox > Add-ons) page?
If that page isn't working then you can visit the Mozilla Ad-ons site directly.

  • Why does add-ons Manager create a new tab every time I go to home page?

When I start Firefox my home page tab shows up along with an add-ons Manager tab and a plus sign for new tab. Every time I go to a web site and then return to my home page ANOTHER add-ons Manager tab shows up. This apparently will go on forever. I have had as many as 20 add-ons Manager tabs showing. The only way to eliminate them is to stop Firefox and then restart. Then it starts all over again. What is causing this?
I'm running the latest version of Firefox and Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron with 8G's of memory and a 1T hard drive.
    Please help.

Can you post back here a screenshot from this issue?

  • It seems I am installing add-ons ie, ebay sidebar, tweetbeat firsthand, they look installed in the add-on box but are not working at all?

I can go to tools, add ons and choose the add on I want and install it, then restart firefox but although the new add ons show up in the add on list nothing is there, they are not working at all, I am able to click on and change the options but apart from the new add ons do not appear to be there?

    Hi,
I actually have the same exact problem with southwest.com. I think they use AJAX to load the airport cities when you're choosing a flight, perhaps. Normally, when you click the box (or start to type a city) in the "From" box, it pops up a list of airports in a floating box (not a separate browser window). Since upgrading to Firefox 3.6.15, this just doesn't work, and it also keeps me from using southwest.com in general. The calendar links for the departure and return dates are similarly busted.
I tried restarting in Safe Mode, and it is still broken in Safe Mode.
I downloaded the FF4 RC, and that version had no problem. If I switch back to 3.6.15 though, it is still broken. I tried it in Chrome and IE7, and southwest.com works fine. It appears to only be broken in FF 3.6.15.
    Thanks!
