TreeMap.put(Date, String) throws ClassCastException

Hello World!
i have a problem with TreeMap,
when i try to put a Key-Object and an Object-Object
i get ClassCastException. WHY??
Code:
Date date = GregorianCalendar.getTime();
TreeMap tm = new TreeMap();
tm.put(date, new String("My String"));
By puting into the tree i get the damn exception.
Any ideas?

new String("My String")
is not really a good idea.
One rather useless string instance is created.
just put the string literal put (..., "My String");

I got a GUI here and I need to read some JMaskedTextFields from it. I put them all into Strings. Now I need to pass them to the search-function, but one of the search arguments is not string. Its Date. I tried to initialize Date with Date(String s) but he doesnt take it. Now Im asking how can I do this the easiest way?
The String has only digits and a . betwenn them, like this: 12.02.1978 and I want to pass this into the Date.

The Problem is that he only makes the first print when both dates are given. If I only give him the first, so he prints the first. If I give him only the scond, so he prints the second. But when I give him both, he only prints the first!!! why?

I've spent a few hours transfering my library from one computer to another and then find out that my ratings didn't transfer. Like you, I've spent many hours rating my 2000+ songs. I'm sure you have more, nevertheless, I want to find out how to get those ratings. They still show in my iTunes on my laptop but, when I go to the iTunes folder and display the details of at song, no rating is there. If you find out how to get them to display there in the iTunes folder, it seems that would be the key.

Coherence Help standalone java program put data in cache & Servlet to Read

I have coherence 3.4 and using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 We are in the process of developing a Web Application and want to use Coherence for caching the data. My Coherence is also installed on the same box as Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 need some help in storing the data in the coherence and reading it through the servlet. We have standalone java program that needs to put data in the cache and through servlet want to read that and display it on the page. When running the client the data is stored in the cache but when reading it through the servlet it returns null. We have included both coherence.jar and tangosol.jar in the war file and also in the path when running the standalone java program. Started the Coherence using the below command:

In the Web Application don't have any reference to cache-config.xml just using the coherence.jar & tangosol.jar.
What are the steps or configurations I need in order to connect to the same Coherence Cache. Do I need to provide some host:port for the Coherence for storing the data in the cache. How does the java client program and Web Application knows to connect to the Coherence. As currently even if I don't start the coherence server and just run the java standalone program it goes and executes fine wondering wher exactly does it persists the cache if coherence itself is not started or just adding the jars is enough. Any help is appreciated.

I have a RFC in which an import parameter is a structure (not a table). I want to put data into that structure. I know how to put data into a table or a string. I tried to use
IRecordSet MyTABStr = (IRecordSet)structureFactory.getStructure(function.getParameter("MYTABSTR").getStructure());
MyTABStr.setString("FIELD1", value1);
MyTABStr.setString("FIELD2", value2);
importParams.put("MYTABSTR",MyTABStr);
But it works for table not structure. Is there anybody know how to do that?

I am selecting data from a Progress database using the Data Direct Open Edge 10.1.B driver. The target table stores the date values as varchar in this format "22-OCT-14" In the select statement I can use Progress statements or T-SQL to transform
the varchar to a date - but cannot do the same in the WHERE clause
Select po_number, cast(po_date as date) as [po_date] from [po_table]
(no problem - the [po_date] field stored as "22-OCT-14" is returned as "2014-10-22 00:00:00"
but when I include the cast in the where clause I get the error described in the title
Select [po_number], [po_date] from [po_table WHERE cast([po_date] as date)<= '10/22/2014' - NO GOOD
I have tried very many combinations of the date string format , different functions and sub-queries but cannot find an answer

The sql strings I posted are working examples - I've tried the ISO format you included - any number of date formats will work when the target field is a "Date" field - but trying any kind of transform statment to processa date stored
as a varchar in the WHERE CLAUSE throws the erro
Storing dates in a varchar column is a bad idea on any platform. Apparently there are strings in that column which cannot be converted to dates.
On SQL Server you could have found this with
SELECT po_date FROM po_table WHERE isdate(po_date) = 1
What you should use on Progress, I have no idea.

How do I find the frequency of numbers in a group of data strings?

I have a set of data strings and I want to find the frequency of each number occuring in a data string. How do I do this?
Here are the strings.
28-29-43-51-53 7
02-08-30-36-48 31

The first part is to "break out" the values from your strings. Columns B thru G take care of this:
I assumed allvalues as 2 digits...
B2=VALUE(MID($A2, 3*(COLUMN()-2)+1, 2))
select B2 and fill to the right until column G
then select B2 thru G2 and fill down as needed.
For compactness of THIS presentation I added two additional columns for getting the Frequency... columns I and J.
Column I contains an counting value and J contains the frquency of the corresponding value in I (of the same row).
put a "1" in I2, a "2" in I3, then select both I1and I2, then grab (click and hold the little circle at the bottom right of the selection), and drag down until the value is the max number you expect (I assumed it was 99).
J2=COUNTIF(B:G, "="&I2)
select J2 and fill down

The exception is been thrown simply because you assigned '0' to the 'row' variable, indicating a zero length of the array. In fact you should assign the row count to it.
After all, don't do that. Make use of the Collection framework and map the ResultSet to a Collection of DTO's.

and keep the :: as part of the new seperated data.

it works the first time in the loop but then as i increment my start position(strpos)
the indsex of no longer works.
am i using the correct technique to increment the start position thru the string buffer.

Oracle date string parser

I really want that oracle can change their command parser engine to be smart enough especially for date string parsing.
currently the engine will throw error when we type a date string as (for example) '10/10/10', while this command can be accepted in MS-SQLServer.

I am trying to put data to R3 table while putting data to r3 table i should get a error message if the same name is already exist. If not it should Enter.

Here Dup is the value which get will be zero if it doesn't have duplicate row.
