Trim Question

I have a database I need to pull data from.
Using the following query, I pull 5 results but miss a lot of entries.

datastr= '123','456','678'
I found that the data in the table has leading spaces, some have none, some have either 1 or 2 or 3 leading spaces.
I modified the query so:

sqlstring="select trim(so) as so, soclose from Xtable where so in(" & datastr & ")"
</code>
It still does not pull the correct numbers of entries.
Is the layout correct or have I messed up some how.

you should add the trim in your where clause and not in select unless you need it there too

  • SSD Trim question:

    question: Trim (not sure I fully understand it) but If you wipe the drive clean, does it retain its original speed?

    For my early Intels, that worked for quite awhile to maintain the top speeds. But it was erratic and didn't last for long, sometimes not even throughout the day. As I understand it, OCZ doesn't recommend this so I haven't it tried it with them.
    For my Intels I used to clone them, wipe the drives with DU, and copy the clone back again. I used Superduper to make the clones.
    This is what I experienced, for example: With 3 80GB Intels in Raid 0, I was getting consistent top speeds of 730 MB/s Read. After only a few days, sometimes the same day, that would go down as low as 700 MB/s. Erasing the drive brought them back up again.
    Now, however, after about 6 months(?), their top speeds are around 700 MB/s and I can longer get them higher. I've used QuickBench to gauge results in the $15 version of SpeedTools Test Suite.
    "Trim", as I understand it, is either a function built into the drive, the OS, or both. I'm sure Wiki has something on it.

  • Servlet Database I/O: How to "lock" a record being updated ?

    Say you have a servlet that displays a list of customers in HTML page, and a button on each customer to click to bring up another page (servlet generated) with the customer info to edit. The customer info is in a database file (could be Access or ORACLE). User makes any changes and clicks a button to update the customer record (with a servlet).
    How do you prevent two users from editing the same customer record at the same time? I do not want to lock the whole file, just a record.
    Any pointers towards info about this subject appreciated.

  • Wierd QuickTimePro 7.03 Player Selection Start and Selection End markers?

    In previous QTPro versions
    finding,moving, setting in/out markers worked independently of the play-point marker.
    You could move a marker, then move the play-point to the marker do a runthru, make small adjustments with the arrow keys and trim the selection...but...
    Now...
    -start/end markers aren't always visible
    -the markers stick with the play-point marker
    -if you move a marker the play-point marker moves
    -if you move the play-point the start/end markers move
    -it is much more difficult to set-up in/out points to set up a trim
    Question
    -is there a new control I'm missing?
    -is there some other secret here?

    Use the letters i and o keys to set in and out points based on the position of the cursor in the timeline.
    To "fine tune" your selection hold the "Shift" key down as you use the arrow keys to "step through".
    To test your selection use the "Play Selection Only" (Command-T) from the View menu.

    I tried the "Internet Recovery" option and finally saw Mac OS X Mountain Lion's install page but after waiting 7 hours when I just thought its going to start installing, I got another progress bar with 36 hours remining time to download "Additional Components" then after progressing 2-3 hours, it shows "Unable to write installation something..., Contact Apple Care"
    Then I accidently rebooted the machine and now it seems Internet Recovery don't work anymore, it shows "support.apple.com - 40 something!" error, and finally when I tried to reboot using Recovery HD, I found it's gone as-well!
    To be honest, I don't know what to do now, I am and dissapointed... also I do not have any Apple Store nearby, there is an authorized country reseller almost 650/km far away from my residents and they even charges too high (like $250) for doing such repairs (as per phone conversation)
    If anyone have any idea or anything to help me with, please do share- I'd be eternally grateful!

  • Questions on StringTokenizer, trim(), and parsing.

    im doing an assignment that requires parsing and havent had that much practice with parsing regular text from a file, ive been doing mostly parsing from a html. my question is if im parsing a line and i need 2 different types of information from it, should i just tokenize it twice or do it all at once, assuming the text format is always the same. for example
    String input= "this is a test[10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1]";if parsed correctly with StringTokenizer it would be 4 Strings(this is a test) and 10 ints for the countdown of numbers. now since the Strings doesnt have a delimiter such as a comma i can use the default delimiter which is the whitespace but then would that mean i would have to parse that same String twice since the numbers has "," has a delimiter? also should i worry about the whitespace that is separating the numbers after the comma? i did a small driver to test out the trim() using this and both outputs were the same. this may be a dumb question but if i call the trim() it eliminates the white space right, therefore i can just set "," as my delimiter, question is why is my output for both Strings the same?

  • Question about AHCI setting for my pavilion DV6T-2000 in order to use SSD driver with TRIM support

    My operating system is Window 7 ultimate
    1.I have just updated my ssd Corsair P256 firmware to the newest version which enables Trim
    2.I typed " fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify " and got the result " 0 " , so it is good.
    3.I go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci" and know that the "Start"name has Data value "0".
    4. I go to device manager and click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers". However, the only thing which i saw was:
    "Intel(R) PCHM SATA AHCI Controller 6 Port"
    i didn't see the "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller"
    i tried to go the Bios setting to enable AHCI but HP bios won't let me change any setting except Booting priority. I am using the newest Bios version from HP(I have just updated it two days ago).
    So my question is that: am i on set? or what i should do now to make the Trim work
    if i am on set, does the Trim run automatically? do i need to do anything to maintain the SSD's performance?

    If you right click on "Intel(R) PCHM SATA AHCI Controller 6 Port" and select properties, then go to the Driver Tab and hit the Driver Details button, you will see the iastor,sys driver is installed, so AHCI is enabled.

  • Advice on Media Files Trim before importing to FCPX (Workflow Question)

    Hi,
    I often edit actioncam material, like GoPro, Contour etc..
    They are usually turned on and then left on for 30-60m. Often multiple cameras and different angles. Perhaps some DSLR footage too. So I end up with several large files, usually H.264 as source material.
    If I import them to FCPX straight away, I get massive ProRes Files and project sizes of several terrabytes. <- I want to avoid this for obvious reasons
    So I need a solution of how to take the files, cut them into pieces, trim some, rotate some and chop them into smaller files. Once this is done, I can import them to FCPX events and get more nimble and workable files.
    The workflow I'd like is:
    Film -> Download Files -> Cut/Trim -> Import FCPX -> Edit .....
    Anyone have a recommendation of tool or workflow to do this smoothly?

    I had the same problem until recently. Now it's dead easy and very quick.
    All you need is a hard drive or partition on a drive which you can dedicate to this purpose. Even your camera's card will suffice - what you need to do is rename the drive (or card, when it's mounted on your desktop) to VIDEO - or some name that FCP X will recognise as a camera (DCIM etc may work).
    Move your newly shot files to the root of the drive (they must not be in folders).
    Launch FCP X - and press Cmd+I (the letter i). The Camera Import window opens and your VIDEO drive should be listed. Select it and your clips will appear.
    You can log in and out points where you want and import only the useful material. It will not be recompressed, just trimmed and copied over.
    Works brilliantly.
    (If you re-named the camera card, you may need to change the name back so that the camera will read it).

  • Basic printing questions with safe zones, trim lines and bleeds

    I am working with a file that has safe zones, trim lines and bleeds. If I place something that touches the outer edges of the document at the bleed zone, how will it display if there is a trim line before it? Won't it be trimmed anyways?

    Consider the bleed a precautionary measure in the case of registration variance when cutting the actual printed product.
    So it should be cut off, but it may actually become visible (partially).

  • Question about ssd Trim in boot camp.

    we all know that mac osx wont support trim function for ssd. Now if i installed win7 on boot camp. can i use boot camp to use trim?

  • Dumb question...trim marks

    When I send a document to the printer, do I need to place trim marks? Are they necessary? If so, how do I create them?

    It depends on your printer, your way/format of saving the document, your version, and the moon.
    So, the answer could be no, just save your document as PDF with bleed outside the Artboard/page, or yes save your document as PDF with Trim Marks and Artboard/page corresponding to the addition of bleed, or something else.
    And the meaning of Trim Marks has changed over the versions.

  • A question about string.trim()

    I got a fragment of code as follows:
    String s = "abcd ";
    boolean a = (s.trim()=="abcd");
    boolean b = (s =="abcd ");
    Why a is false, b is true?

    The reason why the below code has true assigned to be is quite easy to explain:
    String s = "abcd";
    String y = "abcd";
    boolean b = (s == y);
    ...The String class has a "Pool" of strings. When you use String literals; the compiler automatically checks if it is in the String pool already and if it exists; a reference to that String is returned; if not a new entry in the pool is added and then you get a reference to that. This is only true for Stirng literals and String created using the intern() method.
    If you compile this code you will see that the strings are not equal:
    public static void main(String args[])
      String s = "abcd";
      String y = args[0];
      boolean b = (s == y);
      System.out.println(b);
    }This is because the "abcd" is in the String pool when your program starts; but because the value "abcd" passed in (is not created in the pool automaticlaly). Therefor they are two different String objects.
    This code block shows that you can add Strings to the pool. The intern() method checks to see if the String is in the pool already and if it is it will return you a reference to it; if not it will create one and then return it.

      boolean b = (s == y);
      System.out.println(b);

  • TRIM and SSD Question

    Hi all,
    I have just bought:
    Crucial CT240M500SSD1 2.5-inch 240GB M500 SATA 6Gb/s Internal Solid State Drive 
    for my Macbook pro 2009 model. I plan to install OSX Mountain lion on it (OSX 10.8). I was woundering after reading about TRIM etc, when i have plugged the SSD in, and installed the operating system do i need to enable TRIM or will it be on by default?

    You certainly can and many do. 
    I have my own way of setting up a new drive as shown below.  Mainly because I want a fresh start.
    Power down my computer and remove the power charger and dispense static electricity.
    1.  Format new SSD or HDD (Mac OS Extended Journaled).  External enclosure is needed for this.
    2.  Remove the internal HDD (the one being replaced) (FIRST dispense static electricity).
    3.  Install new internal drive (SSD or HDD)
    4.  Install OS on new SSD or HDD
    5.  Install apps
    6.  Connect the drive removed and move data, pictures, videos, etc to the new drive (use external enclosure).
    Make sure you have a solid backup of your important data
