How do I create an abstract data type in CAL? An abstract data type is one whose internal representation can be changed without needing to modify the source code of client modules that make use of that type. For software maintainability, it is a good idea to make a type that is subject to change or enhancement into an abstract data type. Another reason to create an abstract data type is to enforce invariants for values of the type that can only be ensured by using constructor functions (i.e. functions that return values of that type). In principle it is simple to create an abstract data type in CAL. For an algebraic data type, make the type constructor public and all data constructors private. For a foreign data type, make the type constructor public and the implementation scope private. If a scope qualifier is omitted, the scope is taken to be private. For example, the Map algebraic data type has the public type constructor Map and the data constructors Tip and Bin are each private, so it is an abstract data type. /** A map from keys (of type {@code k@}) to values (of type {@code a@}). */ data public Map k a = private Tip | private Bin size :: !Int key :: !k value :: a leftMap :: !(Map k a) rightMap :: !(Map k a); There are a number of invariants of this type: the size field represents the number of elements in the map represented by its Bin value. The keys in leftMap are all less than key, which in turn is less than all the keys in rightMap. In particular, non-empty Map values can only be created if the key parameter type is a member of the Ord type class. In all these three cases there are useful, and different, design reasons to adopt a private implementation scope: For RelativeDate, the Java implementation type int represents a coded Gregorian date value in the date scheme used by Crystal Reports. Not all int values correspond to valid dates, and the algorithm to map an int to a year/month/day equivalent is fairly complicated, taking into account things like Gregorian calendar reform. Thus, it is desirable to hide the implementation of this type. For StringNoCase, the implementation is more straightforward as a java.lang.String. The reason to adopt a private implementation scope is to ensure that all functions involving StringNoCase preserve the semantics of StringNoCase as representing a case-insensitive string value. Otherwise it is very easy for clients to declare a function such as: foreign unsafe import jvm "method replace" replaceChar :: StringNoCase -> Char -> Char -> StringNoCase; which does not handle case-insensitivity correctly, but is a perfectly valid declaration. This declaration results in a compilation error when it is placed outside the module in which StringNoCase is defined because of the private implementation scope of StringNoCase. For Color, the issue is somewhat more subtle. The java.awt.Color implementation type is semantically the same as the CAL Color type. The problem is that java.awt.Color is mutable (since it can be sub-classed to create a mutable type). It is preferable for a first-class CAL type to not be mutable, so we simply make the implementation scope private to ensure that this will be the case. A somewhat less encapsulated kind of abstract data type can be created using friend modules and protected scope. For example, if an algebraic type is public, and all its data constructors are protected, then the data constructors can be accessed in the friend modules of the module in which the type is defined. Effectively this means that the implementation of the semantics of the type stretches over the module in which the type is defined, and all of its friend modules. These must all be checked if the implementation of the type is modified. Given the merits of abstract data types discussed above, it is perhaps surprising that most of the core types defined in the Prelude module are not abstract data types. For example: Boolean, Char, Int, Double, String, List, Maybe, Either, Ordering, JObject, JList, and all record and tuple types are non-abstract types. There are different reasons for this, depending on the particular type involved. For example, Boolean, List, Maybe, Either and Ordering are all rather canonical algebraic data types with a long history in functional languages, with many standard functions using them. They are thus guaranteed never to change. In addition, their values have no particular design invariants that need to be enforced via constructor functions. Exposing the data constructors gives clients some additional syntactic flexibility in using values of the type. For example, they can pattern match on the values using case expressions or let patterns. Essentially the same explanation holds for record and tuple types. Although non-tuple record types are less canonical, they do correspond to the fundamental notion of an anonymous named-field product type. The "anonymous" here simply means that the programmer can create an entirely new record type simply by creating a value; the type does not have to be declared anywhere prior to use. Char, Int, Double, String, JObject and JList are foreign types where in fact part of the semantics of the type is that we want clients to know that the type is a foreign type. For example, we want clients to know that Prelude.Int is essentially the Java primitive unboxed int type, and has all the semantics you would expect of the Java int type i.e. this is quite different from RelativeDate which is using int as its implementation type in a very tactical way that we may choose to change. One can think of a public foreign type declaration with public implementation scope as simply introducing the Java type into the CAL namespace. One interesting point here is with CAL's naming convention for public foreign types. We prefix a type name by "J" (for "Java") for foreign types with public implementation type such that the underlying Java type is mutable. This is intended as mnemonic that the type is not a pure functional type and thus some caution needs to be taken when using it. For example, Prelude.JObject has public Java implementation type java.lang.Object. In the case where the underlying Java type is not mutable, we do not use the prefix, since even though the type is foreign; it is basically a first class functional type and can be freely used without concern. For example, Prelude.String has public Java implementation type java.lang.String. In the case where the implementation type is private, then the fact that the type is a foreign type, whether mutable or not, is an implementation detail and we do not hint at that detail via the name. Thus Color.Color has as its private Java implementation type the mutable Java type java.awt.Color. When creating abstract data types it is important to not inadvertently supply public API functions that conflict with the desired public semantics of the type. For example, if the type is publicly a pure-functional (i.e. immutable) type such as Color, it is important not to expose functions that mutate the internal Java representation. A more subtle case of inadvertently exposing the implementation of a type can occur with derived instances. For example, deriving the Prelude.Outputable and Prelude.Inputable type classes on a foreign type, whose implementation type is a mutable Java reference type, allows the client to gain access to the underlying Java value and mutate it
(by calling Prelude.output, mutating, and then calling Prelude.input). The solution in this case is to not derive Inputable and Outputable instances, but rather to define a custom Inputable and Outputable instance that copies the underlying values.

Creating a new class type in the classification system

We are wanting to classify objects in a ZTABLE. We have a home grown system for defining our customer requirements that is used as the way for the sales people to communicate to the engineering dept. what the customer wants. A new need has come up that seems to be a good fit to be able to classify our customer requirements. I have been trying to create a new class type that is linked to our ZTABLE. However, even though it looks like we should be able to do this I have not been able to do it. I ran across some documentation that seems to imply that adding a new class type used to be possible, but no longer is.
Can anyone verify that creating a new class type is still possible to do? We are on ECC 5.0.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to create my own Class Type. Is there some documentation as to how to dow this? Other than what is fould in SPRO I have tried and tried but no joy for me.
This is what I have done so far:
in SPRO:
1) Created an Object Key for my table ZLO_CUSTREQ. This table has a primary key of CRQNR (custormer requirements number which is I created) The documentation says that I need to add this key field to structure RMCLY (I did that). BUT, it also says the RMCLY is embeded in structure RMCLX and it is not. Do I need to modify RMCLX to add RMCLY as an append structure?
2) Went to Maintain Object types and Class types and selected my table. Double clicked on Class Types in the Dialog Structure tree, which displayed an empty list of class types.
I then Clicked New Entries button and filled in the fields: Class type(Z10), Description(Customer Requirements), Table(ZLO_CUSTREQ). in the Screens group I selected Keywords and Characteristics. In the Functions group I selected: Standard class type and Multiple classifications. I then Clicked the back arrow. This returned me to the Class Types list which now displayed my new class type.
When I click the save button it kicks me out the the SPRO menu screen and I get the warning message "Class type Z10 does not have the classification status incomplete system" .
Then, it won't let me re-enter the Maintain Object types and Class Types screen due to an error "View cluster is already open, go back with F3"
When I hit F3 I am returned to the main SPRO screen. After navigating back to the Maintain Object types and Class types I continue to get the View cluster already open error. The only way I can get back to Maintain Object types and Class types is to completely exit SPRO and start over. When I do, class type Z10 is gone.
I have repeated this procedure several times with always the same results.
Can anyone please help me?

But, I read Oracle supports storing an XML document with object-relation. I executed storing sample, but I had to create schema manually.
Is it really impossible to create OR schema from DTD automatically?

Yes. You need to create your database schema before insert XML data to it.

SP 2013 ECT - Created an External Content Type in SPD But Not Appearing in BCS

I have created an External Content Type in SP Designer 2013, and the connection and operations all seem to work fine, but the ECT List throws an access error, and when I check the BCS Service Application the ECT doesn't even appear in the list. Has
anyone else ever seen this kind of problem and if so please brovide guidance and examples for resolving it.

Have you created external content type from SharePoint designer 2013 successfully prevously?
And was it displayed in BCS service applicaiton previously?
Have you executed "External Content Type Operations" and saved it back successfully in SharPoint Designer like the following article?
Please check if it is related to the permission issue by using SharePoint Farm Administrator account to create this external content type.
If all above don't solve the issue, please check the ULS log for more information for troubleshooting when create the external content type.

Here is the step by step procedure for that.
I assume that you have already created a planning level and Planning package.
1.Double click on planning level
2.From Context menu of planning Function(2nd panel which lying below the Planng area/level panel)-->create planning function
3.Enter Tech name and description for planning function
4.Expand 'all functions' tab -->double click on 'Exit function'
5.Here you have to provide Function module for initialization(if necessary), and Function module where you have to write the logic, and 'Fields to be changed' and 'parameter name and data element for the same'.
6.Now create a Parameter group from context menu of Planning function and Provide necessary values as per your requirements.

When we create database-based external content type, we could map the data source element to an identifier of the related external content type as input to the association.
In the Data Source Elements pane on the left side, select the data source element in the list. In the
Properties pane on the right side, select the Map to Identifier check box. In the
Identifier list, select the appropriate identifier.
The database object name is referred to as its identifier. An object identifier is created when the object is defined. The identifier is then used to reference the object.

Create Idoc in a User Exit

Hello everyone,
we have a requirement where we want to create and send an idoc out through a user exit.has anyone done anything like this before?i think it is possible.if anybody has any headup on how to do it please let me know.ok yea i know the function module which is to be used.its idoc_output_inotif.there is a tcode INOT which sends the idoc out but OSS says we cant use it 4.6c onwards and thats the reason this need of creating an idoc in user exit arises.
i have tried executing the FM independantly and punching in a few values and i saw that it created an idoc in the system.so my guess is, if i can call this FM in one of the user exits for the transaction IW51/52, and pass all the needed values i should get an idoc.
if anyone has manually created an idoc in a user exit please suggest me some options.

Hi Sanket ,
Distribution Model is required when you use message control to send IDOCS . Since you are triggering your IDOC in a uaer exit , a distribution model is not required . Simple create a partner profile in WE20 and assign your message type in outbound parameter. You need not fill the message control parameters in WE20.
( If you use message control , the process code links the respective FM like idoc_output_inotif in your case ).
But in your case you will have to trigger your IDOC in user exit . You have two options here -
First Try - idoc_output_inotif in the user exit to fill the segments , then use FM MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE to trigger the send process.
If this does not work then use
L_IDOC_HEADER_CREATE -Once
L_IDOC_SEGMENT_CREATE ( Once for each segment ).
( This will create IDOC on data base )
L_IDOC_SEND - Once to trigger the IDOC created above.

Variable Type EXIT - Locking Transaction Data

Dear all,
I have to use a variable type Exit in the level to identify all cost centers for a planner and his corresponding boss (master data lookup). Now e.g.
the planner has cost center 1 and 2 as possible single values. The boss has cost center 1, 2, 3,and 4 because he also is the boss of an other one.
The result is now that the boss locks all cost centers 1,2,3 and four even if he only plans e.g. the cost center 4. In this way it is not possible for the planner to enter data for 1 or 2 the same time.
Does anybody has an idea to solve this situation or how to lock only the values of the variable that is really in use?

How to avoid SEM-BPS Lock entries
Hence the best option would be to create a different Planning level for Cost center based on the need for planning.
You could also explore the possibility of creating a BEx report wherein the data just needs to be viewed by the boss and not planned.

Error When Create Invoice related to Project

I have been faced issue when i create Invoice related to project the following are the steps with the error :
1. Entered the header.
2.Entered the lines ( Line type, Amount, Distribute Account, and Fields that related to Projects...... etc).
3. Save then Action > validate i have one holds, the hold name is Dist Variance then after i Click on the distributions line I have the following error :

Creating model relations

I am using the Java Bean model importer in Web Dynpro. I understand that you can not import objects (only primitive types) using the Java Bean importer so you have to create model relations in Web Dynpro. But I have not seen any examples or how to's on this. How do you create a model relation in Web Dynpro that corresponds to a backend object retrieved from a Java Bean?

No inspection lot created for new inspection type created

Hi all,
We create a new inspection type which is based on a copy-version of an existing inspection type. These inspection type has a inspection type origin of standard SAP 04 (i.e. Goods Receipt from Production).
Question 1 - we bumped into problem when come to testing in which when perform goods receipt, there is no inspection lot created, may I know why?
The following fields of this new inspection type are all checked; those not specified, are not flagged.
1 - Insp with task list (flagged); Automatic Assginment (flagged); Check Chars (flagged); Skip Allow(flagged); Automatic UD(flagged); Serial Number Poss (flagged).
Question 2 - for this kind of inspection type with origin 04, do i need to perform a goods receipt against a production order or purchasing order? How do I perform a GR against a production order?

Hi Tuffy,
Possibly you might not have ticked on preferred inspection type in material master. This could be one of the reasons. Try to do GR after ticking this.
The setting you have mentioned (flagged parameters)are seems to be correct. But lot generation is governed by preferred inspection type.
If you have assigned this newly customized inspection type to lot origin 04, then it would be used against production order and not the purchase order.
There are several ways to carry out GR against production order. It depends on the scenarios which you follow
1.     MB31 101 movement
2.     You may use backflush so while confirming order through CO11N auto GR is posted
3.     In case of repetitive manufacturing scenario generally GR is done by MFBF transaction
