Trouble invoking FPM based processes through EIC activity

Hi All,
We are implementing HR EIC module integrating with HCM process and forms on NWBC. We are using FPM based forms. The standard configuration given in EIC to invoke forms is best suitable for Adobe forms but not FPM. Standard config. uses 'ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE'. Where as for FPM forms we need to invoke with 'ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP' with config 'ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP_CFG'.
Through some custom config. on EIC (Transaction launcher) we are able to start this process, but ending up with error "PROCESS DOES NOT EXIST".
But for EIC, the agent creates an activity for employee and then invokes the process selecting from list of processes assigned his role as initiator. But with 'ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP', I am not able to get the process list.
Anybody please advise?
Thanks,
Hareesh K

Hi Sahir, yes this process has that role.
Hi Siddharth,
Yes I have activated business function 'HCM_SSC_EIC_2', we have not implemented E-REC.
I am working on 'Employee interaction Center (EIC)' module. If you call transaction HREIC you can see this application. But it needs some initial config of EIC module.
On EIC we create an activity for employee request and we can initiate process through that activity. To initiate the process SAP using application 'HRASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE'. You can check in method CL_HREIC_PROCESSSTART->BUILD_OTHER_URL. This application suitable for ADOBE forms. ADOBE form processes are initiated and completed successfully. Once process completed it will be linked to EIC activity automatically.
Unlike Adobe forms the FPM form processes are not smooth. I copied this class and updated with ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP, but I'm getting the error.
I got a breakthrough that I got process started with FPM form but once process is completed, it is not linked with the activity through which it is started.

  • Invoking long-lived process through API

I am trying to invoke a long-lived process using web service API.
It doesn't create a task (workspace endpoint) as a initiation point. It directly moves on to the next task assignment activity.
Is this the default behavior ?
    What's the harm?
It is not known to the next actor who initiated this task.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Nith

"It doesn't create a task (workspace endpoint) as a initiation point. It directly moves on to the next task assignment activity. Is this the default behavior ?"
Yes, this is the default behavior. As I'm sure you know, there are different ways you can initiate a process in LiveCycle: REST, Soap, Email, Workspace, etc.
If you use Workspace to initiate the process, we give you an interface to load a form and start the process with that data. If you decide to use the API, you need to provide the initial parameter through code.
In both cases you're just calling your process using different invocation methods. Once the process is invoked, it'll go to the first step in the process. This is the step with the small green arrow beside it.
It doesn't make sense to initate a process through the API, and then initiate it again in Workspace.
"It is not known to the next actor who initiated this task."
There's always a account under which the process in invoked. If  you use the API it'll use the account you specify in the connection properties.
    Does that make sense?

I am trying to invoke a soap-based web service deployed in a different OC4J container but on the same iAS middle tier install as the BPEL server. The deployment is successful. I am running 10.1.2 BPEL server.

    Sandor,
Thanks. Your suggestion of turning off optSoapShortcut worked. So does that mean that by default remote web services cannot be invoked from BPEL process by SOAP - unless this configuration change is done ?

  • Unable to test a FPM form based process in HCM Process & Forms ?

    Hi Experts,
Am new to HCM Process & Forms, I created my first form on FPM and am trying to test it but am not able to do so.. can you all please help me figure out where I am going wrong.
Here is what I am doing ...
I have a build a FPM Form Scenario and Process. Now when I clicking on the Execute button in HRASR_DT and go the test screen I dont get the option for selecting the Web Dynpro Screen as Application Start Option.
I also tried testing it through
    http://OURSERVER/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/asr_process_execute_fpm?sap-language=EN&sap-wd-configId=ASR_EXECUTE_5_STEP_PA
    and
    http://OURSERVER/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/asr_process_execute
when I do this then I am getting an error message "No Internal Service Request scenario was specified".
    Please Advice.
    Thanks

    Hi Sahir,
Yes, I had to Activate the business function HCM_ASR_CI_5 to get the "Option for Application Start" section in HRASR_DT.
Thanks for the launchpad configuration link.
The one think that I am still having issues is that if I goto se80 and selected the WD Application ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP and using the Application configuration ASR_PROCESS_EXECUTE_OVP_CFG I execute it by clicking on Test....I get an error message saying
    "Process does not exist"
Does this mean I can't test my process through se80 I will always have to go through portal and configure the launchpad to test my process ?
Or am I missing some config or doing something wrong ?

  • Issue in invoking a BPEL process (having a DB Adapter) from ESB

    Dear All,
I am having an issue while invoking a ESB process (Batch file mode) which inturn will call a second BPEL process which will invoke the Oracle APPS standard API ego_item_pub.process_items to create an item in Inventocry, through a DB adapter
I am able to create the Item and API is working when I pass the input XML through the second BPEL process.
But when invoking through the ESB process which will invoke the BPEL process, based on the polling to the batch file from the ESB. This is done through an FTP adapter in ESB.
The Issue is that while invoking from ESB, through batch file. The PL/SQL API is throwing error from the standard API 'ego_item_pub.process_items'
But it works fine if I invoke the BPEL process individually.
What might be the problem for this and how can I fix this..
    Please update..
    Many thanks in advance ...

    Hi,
We tried the same thing and it worked for us. In our scenario we had a BPEL process calling a ESB and then this ESB calling another BPEL process which inturn calls the API. I agree with James it seems more of a Data issue/or your XSD is not proper i.e the XSD that you ESB process is having. If you have created a ESB and then changed the BPEL process afterward the issue you mentioned will come. Please run the process in DEBIG mode and provide the domain.log file.

Error occurs in first assign activity like this:
    *=========*
Error in evaluate <from> expression at line "97". The result is empty for the XPath expression : "/ns3:TotalBPELProcessRequest/ns3:sourceConn".
    *=========*
Please tell me if you know how to solve it. Thanks

It sounds very much like a namespace issue.
As it works from the BPELConsole, fill in the values in the BPELConsole initiate page and switch from the HTML to the XML view. Copy the XML to Notepad or another suitable editor; then insert it as fixed values into the Java/JSP code and try to call the server with the hardcoded payload instead of the one you are generating.
You can also save the payload in the JSP (write it to a file or standard output) before the call; then open it in jDeveloper or Eclipse and validate it against the schema. That way you will find if the XML is invalid.
Also, check the flow in the BPELConsole. As it fails on an XPath expression you must have a process. If you click on the receive activity you can see the received payload. Again, copy that to jDeveloper or Eclipse and validate it. Also compare it to the XML you get if you initiate the process manuallly. There must be some difference.
If you still can't get it to work, post the XML from the initiate operation and from the JSP operation (as they are seen in the receive activity) and we can help you check them out!

  • How to Invoke a BPEL process when Insert/Update/Delete happens

    Hi
As client requirement is we want to execute a BPEL process when there is a DML Operation (Insert/Update/Delete) on a particular table.
How do we handle this situation. Is there any alternatives if it is not possible.
Please point me if any documentaion is available.
    Regards
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
What integration tool you are using.
In Oracle BPEL PM, you can create an empty BPEL process with a "receive" activity and a database adapter partnerlink which polls for change in table records every specified time interval.
After receiving the table change, you can fire the appropriate BPEL process through "invoke" activity.
    thanks

  • Replacing Adobe forms with Smart Forms for printing FPM based forms

    Hello All,
This pertains to HCM Process and Forms with Floor Plan Manager (FPM) based forms.
SAP has provided Adobe Forms as the standard print option for FPM based forms, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We want to use the FPM based forms without using Adobe Document Services (ADS). I am checking the feasibility of replacing the PDF forms with Smart Forms, either through configuration or customization.
    System Landscape: ECC 6.0 EhP6
Any inputs or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Arun.

    Hi Ketul,
Irrespective of the process or scenario, we would like to use Smart Forms instead of Adobe Forms. As seen in the screenshot, SAP has provided the default option of generating a PDF form. This requires installing and using Adobe Document Services. We would like to remove this dependency on Adobe Document Services.
Instead, we would like to use Smart Forms for printing purposes.
This requirement is not tied to any specific process or scenario, but to any business process implemented using HCM Process and Forms framework.
Let me know if you need any further clarifications.
    Regards,
    Arun.
