Trouble positioning image divs on page

I'm preparing a photo gallery page for use with Lightbox2 by
adding 145 x 145 divs to my page for my thumbnails. I inserted my
first div and it ended up at top-left of my
<div#mainContent>, then in the code, I just copy/pasted
(duplicated) three more, right underneath each other. I now have
four down the left side, that's fine. But I want 4 down and 4
accross. Someone told me that I need to float them. I can't figure
out how to do that, can anybody help?
By the way, the page is a DW ".oneColFixCtrHdr ", the width
is fixed but it's bottomless, my divs just keep going down the left
side of the page on top of each other.
Thanks, Julie

Because someone suggested it to me, reason being, these are
for thumbnails for links to larger versions for use in Lightbox2,
and he said the caption and magnification link both require some
special CSS. Placing them in their own container makes them much
easier to style. He places every picture in a div with the class
"image" and the additional class "fl" just floats the entire thing
to the left. So that's what I did. Although I'm not sure I did the
class' properly. I'm new to DW.

  • Trouble position image in share DVD menu option

    Anyone having trouble getting an image to fit on the share DVD option menu page. Does not usual apple mask to edit and position image. Spent many hours trying to get my image which contains text not to be cut off. There seems to be no guidance on what the image size should be.
    Thanks in advance,
    Susan

    It is a little confusing... but anything white will be interpreted as transparent.
    Make the text in photoshop a different colour, and use the colour mapping tools in DVDSP to get it to look white in the normal state. You can then change the color to be anything else in the different states.
    For example, if your menu background has white text as part of the background image, and your overlay has red text created in photoshop that sits directly on top of the white text, it will still show as white in DVDSP until you change the mapping. Draw a button rectangle over the text, make sure the button is selected and look in the property inspector, in the colours tab.
    Set the overlay style to be 'Advanced' and the mapping type to 'Chroma'. You'll see a black, red blue and white colour control. Set the button to be 'Normal' and move all of the sliders to the left. Set it to be 'Selected' and move the red slider all the way to the right. Make sure that the dropdown box next to the red slider is also showing red in it. What this is saying is "In the red channel, use red as the colour, and make it fully opaque". Of course, you can swap the red for any other colour in the dropdown. For the 'Activated' state this is exactly what you need to do - leave the red slider on the right, but change the colour in the drop down to be what you want when the button is activated - perhaps yellow, for example.
    You should now have no problem making the buttons change colour as you want.

  • Having trouble displaying images on a page in APEX through IE.

    I'm trying to conditionally display images (used as toggle buttons) in a tabular report in APEX. This is for our Benefits application where an employee can include or exclude his/her dependents from the plan. For each row, in one column I want to show only 'Include' button if an individual is not already a member, and in another column show only 'Remove' button if already included. I'm using the button images as links and passing information to a page process.
    I was able to come up with the SQL query which works perfectly fine in Firefox. But the images won't display in Internet Explorer. Does anyone have any idea how to make this work in IE?
    Below is my query. This code will display 'Include in plan' image only if the member is not already added to the plan. If 'Y' is the result of the query, then the member is already included and no image is displayed. Otherwise display the image. Pass the member_id to an application item and process the record in a Before Header process.
    select elected_member_id, member_type, last_name, first_name, middle_name, gender,date_of_birth,student_flag,trunc(months_between(sysdate ,date_of_birth)/12) AGE,
    decode((select 'Y'
    from eben_elected_plan_info epi
         where plan_name not in ('Delta', 'Vision', 'HEALTH_FLEX', 'DEP_FLEX')
         and epi.elected_member_id = emi.elected_member_id
         and transaction_type <> 'END'), null,'<a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:70:&SESSION.::::F_APP_MEMBER_INCLUDE:'||elected_member_id||'<img src="&WORKSPACE_IMAGES.include.png"></a>') elected_member_id_include,
    elected_member_id elected_member_id_exclude
    from eben_elected_members_info emi
    where emp_person_id = :f_app_person_id
    and member_type <> 'Employee'

    I was able to resolve this issue by creating the SQL statement from scratch in IE. It then recognized the images.

  • Position images at bottom of div tag?

    How do I position images at the bottom of a div tag?
    These images are going to be used as links and Im using a
    template which will double there size on certain pages, so I cant
    use background images.
    Please help as I cant believe this isn't possible!
    James

    I dont understand what you mean by;
    'If you do not know the widths, and you want them all to flow
    one after
    the other, the make another div as their container, and move
    the
    "position:absolute;right:0px;" styles to the new div'
    When I apply a rule for all images in the div tag, the images
    all sit on top of one another;
    .container img {
    position: absolute;
    bottom: 0px;
    If I set the images individually I can stop them from doing
    this;
    .container #image1 {
    position: absolute;
    bottom: 0px;
    left: 320px;
    The problem however is that this design is for a template.
    The images in the template will double in size when the user is on
    that page.
    If i use a pixel (or a %) value for the left position, then
    the left hand side of the image is centered, not the centre of the
    image. This means that the space between the images will vary when
    one of them enlarges.
    This could be solved if there was some way of making the
    images sit next to each other, without specifying a position left
    value (like when you insert images into a div tag with no rules).
    Can this be done?
    Alternatively, is there a way of using a position left value
    which controlled the position via the center of the image, not the
    left side? Then I could use % values and the images would still
    look ordered.

  • Different background image (div) on each page of site complicated by template

    Hope I can explain this:  Below are specifics
    - Using Dreamweaver cs5.5
    - Making the pages from a template.
    - Each page will have a different backround image; but the image is contained in a div tag (div name is .mainbackground) which runs behind the main core of the site, the image is not in the <body>
    - The div .mainbackground is EDITABLE
    - I have already made a specific css class to assign to that div on each page so that the image is different on each page.
    - On the template page the div .mainbackground has no image class assigned to it (thus no background image)
    - Since that div is editable I can then go into each page and assign the desired image class to it - works great.  EXCEPT...... & here's my main question:
    -  In the code all of the other regions are contained IN that above mentioned div of .mainbackground SO that means that:
    - if I need to update the structure of the pages I will have to remove the Editable region that controls the background image which would be -  removing the .mainbackround editable region.  Then go back to my template, make changes and save everything - thus all the changes will carry through to my other pages.  This is good and bad because I would get all the structural changes but I would also loose all of the text specific to those pages.
    -Then when I'm finished I would have to go back and first add an editable region back to the .mainbackground class and then re-apply the background classes back to the .mainbackground to fix the images on the pages again...
    The site is very small site so I can deal with it but am I going about this all wrong?
    Is there some template feature I'm not getting?  I would like to keep using the template feature, and i do want a different pic on each page.....
    I have attached a picture showing one page so you can see the background image - which will be different on each page.

    If your Template has embedded CSS within the <head> tags, and the <head> has an editable region defined, you should be able to change styles in child pages.
    TEMPLATE CODE:
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
    .mainbackground { }
    </style>
    </head>
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    CHILD PAGE CODE:
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
    .mainbackground {
    background-image:url(page2-BG.jpg)
    </style>
    </head>
    Give it a try.

  • Positioning image on page for printing in Elements 8

    In Elements 6, in the "print" dialogue, you could uncheck "center image", and print an image anywhere you chose on the paper. I use
    it because I print small decal images on A4 paper at the top, cut them off and can then reuse the (expensive) paper multiple times.
    Where is this option in Elements 8? When I try to move the image by dragging in the preview, it moves "behind" the window, but the actual print position remains the same, and the image is not printed in full. Where can I set the position of the printed image on the page? Surely this useful feature hasn't been removed?
    best regards,
    Matt

    Thanks Bob for your ideas. As Elo and Bryhy have mentioned, I find it very useful without leaving the Editor workspace to produce small test prints for tweaking colour, contrast, etc.before commiting to a final large print so it is important to maintain continuity. I have used PSE from Day 1, I have found it an excellent program and I was just completely dumbfounded to discover this facility had disappeared from PSE8. All they had to do was leave it there - the software was already written for all the previous versions. Elo speculates that removing it could be a ploy by Adobe to dumb down the program and thereby push the more advanced user towards the full Photoshop. On the other hand, Adobe do not seem to have dumbed down the editing capabilities which remain quite powerful so it could be they just did not realise how useful this print facility was to some users. Either way, I feel it is a reasonable expectation that upgrades should retain existing facilities or some equivalent alternative.
    I continue to try to make contact with Adobe to see whether they feel able to restore the facility with an immediate upgrade or that it will be reinstated in the next version. I have submitted three cases, two simply referred me to the help manual and the thrid was deleted without reply. I then wrote to the Chief Executive of Adobe Systems Europe in February but so far no reply has been received so it does not look like I am going to get one. I now intend to write to the Cheif Exec in the US.

  • How to put a background image in coldfusion page?

    Hi all,
    I have created number of coldfusion pages,i would like to have a background image for them either unique or different images.
    So i have created a style.css and added a line for background image like
                        background-image: url(/images/nature.jpg);
    But it doesn't works.
    Even i tried this by giving in head section of all my cfm pages but it doesn't work.
    Also i have used
    <head>
         <style type="text/css">
              html {overflow-y:hidden;}
              body {overflow-y:auto;}
              #page-background {position:absolute; z-index:-1;}
              #content {position:static;padding:10px;}
         </style>
    </head>
    <body>
         <div id="page-background"><img src="images/sri.jpg" alt="Smile"></div>
             <div id="content">
                  This is body content
             </div>
    </body>
    but the alt value 'smile' only appearing not the image.
    I'm working on CFBuilder.
    Both firefox and IE not displaying the image
    Any help appreciated,
    Chandru P

    The fact that this is in a CF template is neither here nor there (other than the caveat about # as the other person said).
    All CF does is generate mark-up.  The mark-up is sent to the browser, and the browser renders it.  So if your browser isn't rendering your image assets, it's because it can't find them.
    I suspect your URLs are wrong.  Are you getting 404s for the image URLs?
    One thing to bear in mind is that URLs to resources are not relative to the CFM template they're in, they're relative to the URL the client requested, which are not necessarily (indeed very infrequently ~) the same.

    So much CSS for such a tiny page?
    > All the divs hare position relative; and float left;
    Why? Why do you need the positioning or the floating?
    Just make your masthead images into a single page background
    image, and then
    margin the tabsH div into position.

  • How to remove the white space that is now above the main images on each page?

    http://www.nydogworks.net
    Hello,
    I took over updating some things on my site from my web designer. The main images on each page used to be flush with the navigation bar on each page. Now there is a white space in between each one. Can you tell me how to remove the white space?

    You should be able to add the following snippets of css to your stylesheet to fix that.
    In the mainstyle.css file, change...

    margin-top: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    margin-right: auto;

  • How to add an image in multiple pages?

    Hi,
    First be aware that before posting this, I digged into Google but could not find a solution.
    How to add an image in the footer section of a PDF document of size, say, 500pages? I am not going to add it one by one in very page, it's too time consuming.
    Is there a way to add it in the footer section or any other alternative, so that I end up with the same image in an exact position in all 500 pages?
    Thanks for your reply
    Best,
    Eric

  • Floating Gallery Widget- Images on a Page

    I have a  problem with the gallery widget.. it keeps changing its position ON THE PAGE, ie. it 'falls' past the bottom of the page or if positioned with a text box underneath it, it will often 'fall' down with the caption on the pictures covering text in the text box.
    It seems to be arbitrary.. it happens sometimes but not all the time on all the gallery widget images.  And it does not appear to matter if there is only ONE picture in the gallery widget or multiple images.
    My book is very image heavy and my reliance on images to remain in place, in relation to the text is mandatory
    Any ideas on why this is happening and if so.. what to do to correct it all?
    Is it a bug in the app, or... what?  If it is a bug, when can we expect an update to iBooks Author?
    I am working in landscape mode and do not bother with the portrait  mode.

    That object is linked to text on that page.....iBA Help has this to say about that
    -=-
    On a book page, an object is either inline, anchored, or floating. Objects you add in iBooks Author are either anchored or floating by default. You can follow the steps below to add an object as an inline object, or to change an object from one type to another after you add it.
    You can place an anchored or inline object anywhere on a page with text on it. Each anchored or inline object has a marker ( or ) that indicates the text the object is associated with.
    Add an object as inline
    Change an object from one kind to another
    Select the object.
    Do one of the following:
    In the format bar: Click Inline, Floating, or Anchored.If the format bar isn’t visible, choose View > Show Format Bar.
    In the Wrap inspector: Click one of the Object Placement buttons.If the Wrap inspector isn’t open, click Inspector in the toolbar and click the Wrap Inspector button.
    If the controls for changing the object type are dimmed, it might be because you’re in portrait orientation. Try switching to landscape. Or try adding a title, label, or caption to the object and then converting it.
    Reposition an anchored or inline object
    You can place an anchored or inline object anywhere on a page with text on it.
    To reposition an anchored object: Drag the object or its marker to the text you want to associate the object with.When the object’s associated text moves to another page (because of changing content), the object moves to the same position on the new page.
    Important:  You can move an anchored object (or its marker) only in landscape orientation.
    To reposition an inline object: Drag the object, or cut and paste the object’s marker to a new location.

  • Safari not displaying images on web pages

    My Safari was working fine and then all of a sudden the images stopped displaying in the web pages. I thought maybe it was because my browser needed an update. I installed Safari 5 but i'm still having the same problem. I read in another forum that one should clear the cashe and trash the Safari preference file (com.apple.safari.plist)). i cleared the cashe but i'm not sure where to find the safari preference file. can someone please help??

    On Vista, the plist file is in a hidden folder, but I don't immediately associate that particular plist with trouble displaying images on Windows systems. (Especially not on Safari 4.0.x installations, when the issue started for you.)
    Can you check something for me? (This isn't going to be a cure in itself, but it will point us towards the most profitable lines of further troubleshooting.)
    Create a new Windows User account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
    Launch Safari in the new account. Do images display in web pages in the new account?
    (If they do display, we'll focus on preferences and settings files in the usual user account. If they don't display, we'll check on damaged Apple Application Support and Safari program files.)

  • Changing the body image on each page with CSS

    Hi,
    I need to have a different background image for each page of this site (body)
    1) I have one template currently
    2) I have one css file currently (linked)
    I've done a lot of research as to how best to do this including;
    a) Using different body id's for each page
    b) Using another css rule for body (inserted into th file AFTER the main linked ccs file)
    Because I am using templates I can't see an easy way to do this (Header is largely locked) and have little control over position of b) and the same for a) as the body tag is also locked. I have also looked at "specify editable tag attibutes in a template" but couldn't get this to work.
    There is something simple to do here but I cannot see it.
    Any sample / advice would be appreciated.
    Rick

    John and DWILCOX01,
    OK I tried it - it seems to be working ok although I have to test a few things.
    However the one thing I did was remove the body style from the linked CSS file as the linked file is BELOW the new body style...
    Although am I correct in assuming that if the new body style you suggested is added AFTER the linked CSS file then I don't have to worry?
    Thansk,
    R

  • Adding images to a Pages document

    I've tried a few different things to add images to a pages document. I can get them in the document, but when I save as Word Doc. and open in Word on a PC, all images are gone. What's the best way to import images and make sure they're there regardless of the file type or platform they're going to be opened in?

    I have no trouble exporting Page's documents to Word that contain jpg, png, eps, or objects inserted by Pages itself. I don't recall trying pdf files. Graphics placed inline or floating both work. I've dragged pictures from the desktop, copy pasted, used the Insert>Choose command and even dragged them from one application to another with success. Now the Word document didn't always have the same formatting as the Pages document, but the pictures were there.
    It would be useful to know what type of graphic image(s) you've inserted.
