TS1440 Tried to turn on Mac and screen is just white/grey with a question mark coming on and off-.are the recovery steps safe to do myself as I am not very computer literate?
I have tried to turn on the iMac at work and it is making a funny noise like rain drops, very slow ticking and also a blank screen with a flashing question mark comes on. What should I do? I downloaded the Apple hints in rectifying this but I am not computer literate and am a bit nervous to do it as it is the computer of the person I work for....any help appreciated - I was going to go for the simple option and take it to the Apple store - what should I do? Heeeeelp :-)

I have a Mac Mini running OSX version 10.8.5 and I want to connect an HP OfficeJet K60 printer using a USB connection. How do I do this please? I am not very computer literate so simple instructions would be helpful!

You have to import the video to your computer by connecting the iPad with cable and then using iPhoto if you have a Mac or Windows Explorer or any other camera application that will import photos and videos. Read this for instructions.

Make sure that you backup and sync with iTunes as well, if You have never synced with iTunes before, it might just be easier for you to backup with iCloud. You can restore from the backup when you get the replacement iPad.

I just opened up my MacBook Pro after a few days of not using it and it was frozen. I turned it off and back on and all I see is a white screen, there was a file with a question mark flashing for a bit but I can't do anything, please help me!!
Jerricayoung,
you have a 13-inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. It’s modern enough that it supports booting into Recovery mode. To do so, hold down a Command key and the R key as you start up. It should eventually show a Mac OS X Utilities menu. Select Disk Utility from that menu; when the Disk Utility window appears, select the bootable volume from the left-hand side of the window. (It’s typically called “Macintosh HD”.) When the volume is selected, some buttons will appear on the right-hand side. If it’s not greyed out, press the Verify Disk button; if it is greyed out, or if it reports on errors that it found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu; that will restart your MacBook Pro in its normal mode. With luck, that will be enough to get you to your normal login screen, rather than the white screen. -
I tried downloading F-Keys by MTB Development Utilities for my IPad but it won't load. Not very computer literate, any help would be greatly appreciated.
You'll need to provide some specifics before anyone can help you. Simply saying it "won't load" tells us nothing.

I have the iPhone 5s. I synced it with my Mac and got all the old apps from my old phone. I was not able to update any of the apps on the old phone and they will not update on the new iPhone 5s either! What can I do?
Hey there rmflint,
It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

I had to restart my iMac and when it came back on the screen shows a file folder with a question mark. What should I do?
Did you move any system files? It's looking for the system folder. You can startup from the system CD by inserting the CD and restarting the computer and at the same time hold down the C key. The computer will boot from the CD. At that point run the disk utility and check your hard-drive. It the problem persists then do a fresh clean install of the system folder and that should help you get back on track.
Good Luck. -
Hello, can someone help me: my eMac G4 700 MHz. I can not boot it. If he starts appears on the screen, only a small "folder with a question mark." The Mac was not used 1 year.
Question 1: Problem = hard drive?
Question 2: Problem = PRAM battery?
the
What can I do to boot?Restart with the Option key held down.
If the internal drive shows up, it's the PRAM battery.
If it doesn't, insert a compatible Mac OS 9 or X install disk, click the button with the circular arrow, and either repair the internal drive or install a new OS on it. If it doesn't show up in Disk First Aid(9) or the Disk Utility(X), it's either not plugged in or needs to be replaced.

Does anyone know what's wrong with it? not booting up. instead of it a picture of a file appears with a question mark on it in the middle of screen?
Sounds like abad hard drive. The clicking sound is coming from the HD. The folder with the question mark means that your computer can't find the statrup disk or the hard drive.
Boot your computer using the install disc and check if Disk Utility can recognize your HD. If not, then it needs HD replacement. If you have AppleCare or within the 1 year warranty, then replacement should be free from Apple. Check the nearest Apple Store in your area. -
If my computer displays a white screen with a folder with a question mark in it...what does this mean?
Hi Pattib123,
The flashing question mark says it can't find a valid system to boot from. Check out this article.

What do I do when he only thing on my screen is a flashing folder with a question mark.
I had a few browsers open on my computer. I accessed my calendar and it froze. The mouse would still move, but I could not click on anything. Then the screen went grey with a flashing folder with a question mark. I turned the power off and turned it back only but only see the grey screen with the flashing folder. I tried resetting the PRAM but it still will not work. Can this be fixed? Please help!!
You may have a disk error - could be an unrepairable physical problem with the drive, or a repairable file structure problem.
Hold down cmd-R (both keys together) as you start up the Mac, and keep them held down until you see the Apple menu. When it boots to the recovery partition, click Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk on the Macintosh HD. Let us know if you see errors there and whether or not DU can fix them.
Good luck!

When I start my Mac air I get a flashing folder with a question mark
I am trying to start my Mac air and I get a flashing folder with a question mark. When I turn the power of it shuts down but wen starting it comes back
Just being clear about your situation. When you hold down Option during boot it does not show a system volume or a recovery volume from which to boot. At that point if you select a network boot and you do not see a spinning globe that persists there a good while as it loads the recovery partition over the network. True?
A couple of more thinks to try:
Disconnect all of your external devices.
Reset PRAM
Boot with the option key again.
Standard things to try (which is sounds like you already have attempted) A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac -
I followed the initial steps in this post and reset pram. After restarting, the screen just shows a folder with a question mark. What does this mean?
Thanks Niel, I tried using Option and nothing happened so I next tried inserting the Leopard disc and rebooting while holding C. Nothing happened until the disc was ejected and then the folder with question mark reappeared. I inserted the disc again and at this point and it booted OSX. I tried to acess disc utility to repair but my harddrive wasn't listed, only the CD drive and the OS disc. Does this mean I'm lost everything?

I have tried to open Itunes and am getting the message "this copy of I Tunes is corrupted or is installed correctly". Any idea what I should do? had just updated the spftwear throtuh the site on my Ipad but it seems to be working ok?
Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now? -
Why is my screen flashing a file folder with a question mark?
Why is my screen flashing a file with a "?" in it?
There are several possible reasons. Click here and follow the instructions; if the computer was running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier and you reach the third set of steps, insert a Mac OS X install disk.
