TS3048 Wireless trackpad set up asks for passkey?

I'm trying to set up a wireless trackpad. In the Bluetooth set up, it asks me to enter a passkey into the device. The device is a trackpad, which means it has no numeral keys, etc. What am I missing?

Hi - what do you mean they have the numbers, numbers for what please? I've been through all the web pages in the router set up and can only find a password page for router access.

  • Firefox insists on downloading a zip file with an application. Options is set to ask for download loaction but does not work

When downloading a ZIP file I get a 'Launch Application' window.
In Options I have set download to ask for a location and use the download window but this does not work.
cannot find any way of changing this and there is no option for using an application.
If I down load in IE I have no problems so it must be FireFox and not a system problem.

    I have found the problem.
A download manager had been installed for a specific website and it was butting in all the time. Even after removing it with 'Add or remove software' it still had its hooks into the system and it was impossible to download anything as it now would not run.
Had to do an XP 'System restore' before I could get rid of it.
The offending program was MD_setup.exe size 3,045KB from the themediadownloader.com

  • PowerBookG4 10.4 sees TC wireless WPA2 Personal but asks for WEP !!

    Hello!
Can you help with this? My roommate's Time Capsule is our wireless N router using WPA2/PSK for encryption. His Snow Leopard laptop connects fine. Mine (PowerBook G4 10.4.11 software current) sees the network, but asks for a WEP password. When I put in the password I get <There was an error joining the AirPort network "name">
When I go to Internet Connect, choose Other, enter the network name, choose WPA2 Personal and enter the password, I get <The wireless network "name" does not support the requested encryption method.>
When I hook up an ethernet cable it goes online fine. The problem seems to be in the laptop misidentifying the type of encryption of the network. What is up?
I've been all over the discussions & haven't found this problem. Must be simple?
Also, my laptop connects with the wireless network at school just fine, which, I think uses no security (or rather its own security system, at some other level).
    Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't do anything on your computer. My guess is the Linksys Box. The Linksys wants a security password to get access to the internet.
What I would suggest is get the instructions for the Linksys box. Reset it to the Factory Defaults. Run through the setup wizard for the Linksys Box again, as if you just bought it. Setup the Linksys box as you'd like, I would recommend renaming the Network Name (SSID) to something a little more unique. And setup security on it. Preferrably WPA or WPA2, but WEP will work ok.
The only reason I asked where you lived is if there are neighbors close by.
When I troubleshoot Wireless Home setups at work, the majority of the problem is either the Network Name (connecting to a neighbors instead of theirs), or the WEP Encryption Key.
A lot of Wireless Routers have a KEY Generator. Client would put a password in the Key Generator, and instead of using the KEY the router generated, they're trying to use the Password they used to Generate the key.
Sorry for going off topic, but yeah, reset the Linksys Box and start from Scratch.
    Hope that helps,
    AL

  • How to set Safari asking for download location

The only reason keeping me from using Safari:
Not been able set safari to ask for download folder.
I've used a folder action that moves a file and asks where, but with large files it only does that when download is finised.
(and I have to select "other" first)
In my line of work I receive many large files every day, so this is no real solution.
Please APPLE, make the user experience like it should be.
Make "ask for downloadfolder" an option in Safari (again)…

I also have this problem and its extremely frustrating because I enjoy Safari as a browser.
For example, in Chrome's download settings, you have the folder selection as well as the option to "Ask where to save each file before downloading." In Firefox, you have the automatic folder option, but there's also one that says "Always ask me where to save files". What do I have to do as an Apple customer to get the developers to consider adding in something the other browsers have by default?
My download folder is segmented into many folders that each have sub-folders, some of which go down several tiers deep. When I download something that doesn't give me the option to Ctrl + Click, it automatically goes into the "Downloads" folder, which means once I'm done downloading my files, I have to sort each download and move it accordingly when the option should have existed in the first place.

    DF is datafiles
now while doing refresh i used
    set until time "to_date(upper('24-Sep-20132133'),'DD-MON-YYYYHH24MI')+(1/24/60)";
Since 1st control file was taken and 21:33 and 1/24/60 means recover database until 21:33 + 1minute
After this also duplication is asking for archives which are generated latest .
please suggest me on this why database is not able to recover and left in mounted stage as it should be able to open database without any issue
    Regards

    Hi
I think i should go for restore control file from CF_c-616662153-20130924-01_PROD.bak
    eg
    restore controlfile from '<path>/CF_c-616662153-20130924-01_PROD.bak ';
in target  database and then go from duplication and set until time mentioned below
which is the last control file backup and then go for
    set until time "to_date(upper('24-Sep-20132133'),'DD-MON-YYYYHH24MI')+(1/24/60)";
Hope this will resolve this issue and database will refresh and open automatically without asking further archive information
please give suggestion or correct me if i am wrong ..

  • Switching wireless networks - OS X asking for password

At my Moms house, she has a Linksys wireless router setup to serve b/g traffic, and a Time Capsule setup to serve n traffic. Both are saved and stored in the known networks setion.
For some reason, when I go to switch to use one or the other, OS X prompts me to enter her user password. This is the account password, not the WPA password (that is stored in the Keychain).
Her user is an admin user.
Simply going to the airport menu, selecting the other network, OS X prompts for account password. The password box that comes up, if I expand the details section is lists:
    Right: com.apple.airport
    Application: SystemUIServer
    1) Any idea why the system asks everytime I select either of the networks for the account password?
    2) Could it be a corrupt pref file somewhere? I don't even see a file called com.apple.airport on her system (or my system for that matter).
    -Kevin

    Hey JC,
So I checked that option off, with no change. Funny thing is my MacBook on my network (same setup with a linksys and time capsule), I have the setting checked and it doesn't require me to enter my password on my network.
Would you have to reboot after that?
Keychain (login keychain) is not set to be auto locked. I'm guessing it's using the password stored in the login keychain? I notice there are also entries for the routers in the System keychain.
I've removed and re-added all WPA password to the keychains (the entries automatically get added to both the login and system keychains).
Really weird and I'm trying to figure out....is it my system that is wrong, allowing me to switch without entering a password....or my Moms requiring the password.

  • After installing Mt. Lion, Mail no longer asks for a password, even though I set preference for using a password.

After installing Mt. Lion 10.8.2, Mail no longer asks for a password before opening messages, even though I tried to set preferences for using the password. Help!

In Mail Preferences, Accounts item: I tried to delete the password (but that did not save). I got this idea from some Mail Help item that I cannot seem to find again. I cannot recall how I did it in Snow Leopard, but I had it set to ask for a password that was used solely for Mail. It would not download anything until I entered that password. Note: I am not on a network; just the single user of the MacPro. Thank you for any guidance you might be able to offer.

  • How do I use my WET54g with a wireless system that asks for username & password

Hotels and other systems let you use theiur wireless for a fee.  You go onto your wireless laptop, and it automatically goes to a page where you pay and sign up (or it asks for a username and password), once that is done, you can use the network.
How do I allow my WET54g to know this password information, and work on the network?
    thanks
    Michael

The WET54g allows you to accept a wireless signal and connect it to a wired hub.  I want to intercept the wireless signal and use it on my hub.
I know I can use one computer if I connect to the signal using my laptop's wireless card, but I want the WET54g to accept the signal.
For example, currently at my office, I use the WET54g to intercept a wireless signal from the front of my building, to the back of my building about 300ft away (this way I didnt have to run wires).  The WET54g then is hooked up to a hub/switch where I have a bunch of other computers/servers.  Everything from the front of my building and back of the building are joined using this WET54g.  The WET54g is set up to find the signal from the front of my building, and therefore it works fine.
I want to use the hotel signal, the same way, except there is no way to enter in the username/password into the WET54g, or maybe there is..  Does this make sense to you?

  • Network diagnostics asks for password for wireless network with no security

    hi
I am trying to connect my Mac Pro to a wireless network which has no security settings. Other Macs in the house connect to the network with no problem, but the Mac Pro doesn't. I am setting up a new network as I have moved house. In the previous house the wireless worked fine on the Mac Pro.
When I click on the Airport Icon in the menu bar, the search wheel shows and it finds the network, but when I click on the name of the network typically it doesn't connect. Occasionally it does connect, and I briefly have internet access, but then the number of bars on the Airport Icon gradually reduce and then I can't connect again.
When I run Network Diagnostics from Safari, it finds the network also, but then typically asks for a WEP password for the Wireless Network when I haven't added any security to the network (occasionally it doesn't ask for a password and I can connect briefly)
I have tried resetting my Time Capsule and creating a new wireless network with a different name, but still experience the same issues.
I wonder if someone has any ideas as to what might be going on, and how I might be able to troubleshoot this.
    Thanks
    Nick

It is one of mine. Yes. It connects to it no problem, just doesn't connect to the actual internet. Network diagnostics has all green lights until the ISP and/or Internet point. If I walk through diagnostics, it will get to the point where it says that the network requires a WEP password. I don't know why it does that because my network is not password-protected (husband claims it doesn't work well with his VPN system to get into work network). If I leave it blank, the connection will work. Eventually, after the computer is put to sleep, I will have the same problem upon waking up. I just tried renaming the network and removing all preferred networks and rebooting. Let's see how that works.

  • How do I set up a Canon printer that is asking for a WPS button?

I am trying to set up a Canon printer and cannot figure out how to do it with Airport Extreme as they are asking for a WPS button to be pushed....Please Help!

What operating system is being used on the computer that is configuring the printer and AirPort Extreme?
Apple has not supported the WPS type of setup for some time, so it may likely be necessary to use the manual setup option to configure the printer. Check the printer documentation for that procedure.
In this type of setup, the printer connects just like a laptop. You search for the wireless network, select it and enter the password to connect.

  • Airport asks for password when none is set

I have experienced this problem with two different network setups. #1: A friend setup a wireless network with a Belkin G+ router. No password or security was set. Yet when his powerbook tried to join the network (which was easily detected), he was asked for a password and he could not get past that point, even if he left it blank.
#2:Then my own system, a netgear router, again no password or security set, was working OK when I added a d-Link range extender. I programmd it and detected the repeater with my powerbook, but when I tried to connect to the repeater I was asked for a password and I could not connect and I had to remove the extender to re-establish my network.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Getting rid of MacJanitor wouldn't solve the problem. Any software that is installed to run maintenance scripts will require authentication for the installation. If it doesn't then I wouldn't install it.
I can recommend some better alternatives to MacJanitor:
    Macaroni
    Anacron
    PseudoAnacron
All three automate the process by running the scripts even if the computer was turned off at the normal time the scripts are set to run. You can find them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Using time capsule model A1409 and trying to use it as only backup. Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule. And also it is asking for password. Have tried all of mine and it will not work.

Want to us my time capsule model A1409  as only backup. 2 TB hard drive.
Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not want to use Time capsule as router, only back up for iMac.
Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule to Ethernet port back of my iMac.
And also it is asking for password for the server John Garland's Time Capsule so Time machine can access it..
Have tried all of passwords can think of and none work.
Held the reset button for one second on back of capsule and do not see if anything happened.
    What a conundrum.
Appreciate any help to get this working.
    Thanks,
    John R

I have a 2TB Timecapsule and really only use it for Time Machine backups. But the Wi-Fi side is used to sync my iPad at times.
    Mine is wiredup thus;
Eth cable from iMac to modem (not the WAN port should you have one),  then eth cable from modem to T/Cap in the WAN port (bottom port with an O sign above it)
I believe when its connected up you may have to set up a wireless network. Follow the instructions to set up Wi-Fi and Network
and then give it a password. The WiFi icon should appear in the menu bar where you can switch it on or off.
Its been sometime since I set it with the help of Apple Techs so I might be a bit rusty.
